by Victoria JacksonI’m lying in my Tiffany blue bedroom, in the dark, listening to the President tell lies. He’s so good at it, that he is smiling and lots of people are clapping.
He says, “Public Option. No one will have to change, if they like their present situation.” LIE.
He says, “My plan will not add one dime to the deficit.” LIE.
(Congressional Budget Committee speak up!)
He says that if we don’t act now, the country will fall apart. LIE.
He says that quality of health care won’t suffer. LIE
He says that there won’t be rationing and those that say there will be are liars. LIE.
He says that the Republicans have no solutions to offer up. LIE
(Several of them lift papers into the air.)
He says that this is not socialism. LIE
He says this is the “moral” thing to do! LIE
(Take money from the middle class and give it to the non-taxpayers and illegals?!)
He says this won’t insure the illegals! LIE….
And then, wait, I choke on my caffeine-free Diet Coke… Like a voice from above, I think I just heard someone shout out, just what I was thinking, ”LIE!”
I can’t believe it! Someone used the real word, not the politically correct word, “Disingenuous!” Nancy Pelosi’s big, arrogant smile suddenly drops and she looks over to the Republican side of the room with the mean glare of a stern librarian! This is fantastic theatre!
Biden isn’t listening to a word of this speech. He’s trying to decide whether to wear a serious face, or a happy face, or a concerned face, or a mad face. So his expression results in a combination of all of the above.
I’m new to politics. Is it always like this?!
It’s gotten so bad that I’ve divided my friends into two categories:
1) Those who “Drank the Kool-Aid.”
2) Those who “Get It.”
Or, the stupid and the smart. I just can’t respect people who are buying this charade, this sham, this takeover. I stare at them buggy eyed, with my mouth hanging open! Are they blind? Are they deaf? It’s driving me crazy! It doesn’t take a, well, a “bimbo” to realize what is happening!
The President continues, “I don’t have all the specific details ironed out yet!” Laughter! People laugh out loud! The President finally told the truth!!!
Then, he continues with his lies. FREE STUFF FOR EVERYONE!! YAY!! I’M THE MAGIC MAN!!!
I think of those Funnel Cakes I saw at the L.A. County Fair the other day. What is a Funnel Cake? I think it’s a deeply fried and refried glob of dough that’s covered with sugar and syrup and whipped cream. The President should say, “Free Funnel Cakes for everyone and there are NO CALORIES!!”
I turn the TV off, shut my eyes, and start to pray for the blind and deaf people in our country.
My friend calls me. She is a Hollywood director, not a conservative, not into politics. She whispers into the phone, “Hey Vic, what can I do to help the cause? This guy is making me feel scuzzy. He’s lying.” I flip her over from the “Kool-Aid” side to the “Get-It” side.

I wish I could say the same… I have one in my family (by mariage does that still count?) and she believes EVERY single cherry flavored sugar filled glass of koolaid. I tolerated all her posts on FB over and over up until lately. Now, I figured if she doesn't care about others and their political beliefs that differ from hers.. than neither do I
So, yeah there are believers out there it is why they need people who "get it" to stand strong and knock that koolaid cup from their hands!
Hearing someone with the guts to yell "lie" reminds me of the vigorous and exciting debates in the British, Australian and New Zealand pariaments (don't know about Canada)where vigorous responses and reaction to speeches is democracy in action. Whether in government or opposition speakers had better be prepared for loud responses if they try to spin or distort. The result is that politicians are prepared and sharp enough to respond firmly or with humor to verbal onslaught. In comparison our representatives are a dull and protected bunch. No wonder they can't handle Town Hall meetings.

I grew up in a very politically active/vocal household, and have been following politics for 40 years. Although there's always been collegiality on the surface, especially since C-span, when they get down to it, "gutter" politics is the norm.
What's much more disturbing to me is that it's spread to a vast number of the American people. That you have to distinguish your friends as those "who drank the kool-aid" or those that "get it" tells the story. I've always had liberal friends, however our friendship always outweighed our politics. In the last 10 years, that seems to have changed. Most of those friendships have "withered on the vine", and I find myself assoicating only with like minded people. I miss many of those friends, but it's just become too hard to listen to people who don't "get it".

The only person telling the truth last night was Joe Wilson. I was livid listening to this speech in my car. Largely because even I knew that everything Obama was saying was a lie. How can he say that it won't add "one dime" to the federal deficit? Even the CBO puts the costs at nearly a trillion dollars….this guy is truly living in a fantasy world – one where he actually believes what he says….can't wait for '12 to get here….

Example: Tuesday night, a library patron came in, with whom I've had a running debate about health care reform. I was reading Yahoo News at the time, and asked if she'd seen the latest proposed bill – the one with the potential big fine – up to $3,800 – for anyone without health insurance. She didn't even blink just replied, "That's not true." I told her I had just read it on the news. She repeated, "That's not true." I pointed out that the story was from the AP and not from Fox. Nope, she said it couldn't be true. Finally, I TURNED THE MONITOR AROUND AND LET HER READ THE NEWS STORY FOR HERSELF. She looked straight at me and said, "No, that's not true. It's a big lie."
I just gave up. These people are beyond "blind and deaf" and into Compleat Denial. Not even Kool-Aid can account for it.

You guys should be hoping that Obama's health care plan passes in the senate. That way you can hammer away at it for 3 years, point out health care horror stories real and imagined and completely discredit Obama and his plan until the next election. And that's exactly what will happen. Every night Glen Beck and Sean Hannity will have a special report on something gone wrong (it's a big country and things will go wrong in hospitals just like I'm sure they do now) and Jon Voigt will weigh in. If it doesn't pass you'll still have stuff to whine about but people won't care as much about it as they do about this.
Frankly, I'm afraid to watch the guy talk. Judging from the reactions to this clown during the campaign, I was afraid there was some mass hypnosis going on.
Thankfully, it looks like it's mostly wearing off some people.
Anyway, thanks for watching that for me and reporting back (so I didn't have to). It's a foregone conclusion that he's a liar liar pants on fire. I just can't stand listening to him long enough to actualy count up the lies.

Given that, when Liberal Elites argue, they immediately insult the person they disagree with; it's understandable that they only have friends who agree with them. They have driven off everyone else. My 12 year old son was watching the speech and fell asleep about three-quarters of the way through. When he woke up he said to me (paraphrasing…) "Dad, Obama says "umm" a lot. Makes me think he's lying, or doesn't know what he's talking about." I gave my littlest a big fat hug. I pray for a lot for his (his siblings) and now my grandaughters generation…

Same here on Joe Wilson…I am encouraged by his guts and so disappointed that he was "forced" (by whom I don't know) to apologize. His outbursts were entirely appropriate. I only wish the entire Republican side of the aisle had stood up and yelled "liar" as a chorus. Wilson is the one with the guts and then he gets trashed for supposedly breaking protocol? Good Lord…someone speaks the truth and gets punished for it? That is not how it is supposed to work. We live in an upside down world, to say the least.
The other thing I wanted to tell you is that the people who used to be my "friends," who are liberals on Kool Aid, have all become estranged and have told me to shut up. Literally one of them called me up to tell me she could not speak to me anymore because she "LLUUVVSS Obama soooooo much." I was shocked. I can't even imagine someone is that sucked into this cult. They don't want to "get it." Obama is somehow fulfilling some sort of weird sickness in some very sad and empty souls. Hitler got away with it for awhile and millions died due to his cult following….I'm very certain we are witnessing a similar situation here. I'm praying with you that we can defeat this coup from hell….and, like you I am doing things I never dreamed I would be doing to try to help our cause. Joe Wilson reminds me of what I did during the after primary GOP election party in Los Angeles. Michael Huffington, actually his then wife, won the US Senate primary. During Huffington's victory speech he asked "What was the difference between himself and Dianne Feinstein?" during the rhetorical pause I shouted quite distinctly, "NOTHING!" It was so clear, you could hear it and if you knew me, recognize my voice on the KCBS radio clip of the speech.
I never apologized for that action, and I don't think Wilson should have either.

Hey really a great post Victoria—it even removed some of my bad mood. There are no words left to express. I too have divided my friends into two groups—those with brains that work, and those that have been poisoned by Obama's speech (maybe they are hypothesized, and not drinking kool-aide)? I've asked some of the people what has he done that is "so wonderful" as one gal stated this to me just yesterday. And, I got the same response as before the Election…I don't know exactly what he has done but it's great.

Again, as someone else pointed out, you were not listening. Sean spoke plenty of Bush not vetoing some of the expensive bills for Medicare and other large spending Dem authored bills. He was took 'compassionate conservatism' too far. Like McCain, when they reached across the aisle they got punched in the face. You forgot the parties were relatively tied in the Senate until the Dems obtained 60 seats in 2008. In the last eight years, the Dems blocked Social Security, Medicare, Fannie Mac/Mae and Wall Street reforms authored by the Republicans and Bush. They blocked many of Bush's judicial nominations including Miguel Estrada which left many seats empty. The civility the Dems complain that is missing was vanquished by them since the mid-90s. The Republicans and at least 40 Dems will not support the unconstitutional health care bill the far-left and BO want. Attack and beat up on your own before you accuse the Republicans of obstruction.

So many of us are new to this political stuff. Before Obama, we were all busy in our lives, families and careers. Then, all of a sudden, we were hearing things that were going on in Washington and our stomachs started doing flips. I can't sleep for worrying about what the Marxist in the White House is up to. I read every book on conservatism, watch only Foxnews (the others insult me). I can't wait to listen to Rush Limbaugh EVERYDAY! I work for the most far left women in the country and I have to hold my tongue.
We are witnessing a revolution. A nation has woken up. A Marxist is running the country. Tea parties are being ignored by the MSM and the president. Well, the pressure will blow the lid off the kettle and the Democrats had better run for the nearest rock to hid under, for their jobs are on the line.
I pray to hear that we are building nuclear plants, drilling for oil, coal and gas. Gas drops to $1.50. Taxes are lowered and the Bush Tax cuts are still in play. Jobs come back. Businesses start coming back and unions are no more. Schools are privatized and compete for the best teachers and students.

It blows my mind that most lefties cannot think beyond what is written. It is not that hard to use critical thinking skills and think how something that is written down is going to play out. It is also very easy to nudge any of these issues with the regulatory czars, to giving illegal immigrants healthcare, rationing care, etc.

Victoria consistently speaks more common sense than 98% of today's overpaid and 'allegedly' experienced media journalists.
I watched the audience and noted how they gazed wide-eyed upon him, as if they were in a trance (or under a spell). When the 1 hour certainly-not-for-profit commercial was over and O left the podium to thunderous applause, the dark-haired woman that sat next to Michelle turned to her and said (look at the replay; clearly anyone can read her lips): "Magnificent. Just Magnificent".
It's inexplicable to me. I'm tired of the over-used analogies re Hitler and Nazi fever. And yet, finally, I do understand with frightening clarity what I never understood before as I watched the old newsreels and documentaries: How could a nation of functioning, mostly reasonable people not see this character for who he is? Look at the old clips and see the faces of the german civilians as their era's O speaks to them. They are euphoric and under absolutely no pretense. Whatever he was selling – they were buying. In bulk. Delusional. Too helpless and hopeless to see it for what it was. It happens now, again, and I am here to witness. Real time. Not just on grainy old black and white film and on distant soil. Here and Now.

While probably not the best time and place for his outburst, Joe Wilson has my respect and admiration. I don't know about the rest of you but I am sick of the constant lecturing from Obama and his cronies. This speech was, in my mind, more grandstanding in a mock effort to set the record straight.
Ask yourself this. If reform is so desperately needed then why would they, the proponents of this bill, postpone parts of it from going into affect until after the 2012 election? Could it be that the effects would be disastrous for any future presidential bid? Could it be that there are "Easter egg" powers hidden in the fine print that we shouldn't be aware of until it's to late for us to do anything about them?
Originally Obama was saying that the economy would collapse if we didn't get His bill passed. So he sets a deadline and all of the left start chanting about the impending doom that would befall America if we didn't act NOW. Later, when asked about why they were rushing to pass such sweeping legislation Obama says "you have to set deadlines or nothing gets done on capitol hill." Then he indicates there's no real rush but he still aims to enact reform before the end of the year. Here we are with 3.5 months left in the year and they are STILL giving us the full court press while resisting every alternative presented to them.
The president can and will continue to lie as long as it serves him. Meanwhile I continue to pray that people like

"There's nothing in the bill to take away your existing insurance." Of course not. Once a public opton is introduced, your employer will drop it for you when he sees his premiums skyrocket.

"There's nothing that mandates public funding of abortions." Again, no need, as there is no specific language forbidding such funding, an unelected federal bureaucrat will simply determine that abortions fall under "essential health services."
"There's nothing in the bill which establishes 'death panels'." Heavens no, they won't be called death panels. In Germany, the death camps were called "relocation centers." In England, the death panels are called the National Committee for Clinical Excellence (NICE).
What really galls ME is his monumental arrogance of dismissing anyone who disagrees with him as stupid, a liar, or a stooge for "special interests", and at the same calling for "a civil discussion."

Thanks for the link. So, Obama was lying after all; even though "Politifact" rated Joe Wilson's outburst as not factual they then went on to qualify their "rating" with the above caveat. The conclusion of their report states, "We don't find the public option argument enough to make the case that Obama "lied." So much for the old "truthmeter".

I agree with you on everything, keep praying Victoria we all are. If you need encouragement I recommend you listen to Mark Levin on the radio or on the internet. He is a true patriot and scholar, read his book Liberty and Tyranny be informed because the truth is a weapon and always wins. We were asleep for far to long and this is the consequence of our laziness and I hope my kids forgive me for that. In the mean time I will get a shot of courage from Mr. Levin and others and read as much as I can of the truth, then stand by my fellow citizens and fight for our freedom. We are not a socialist country and their policies will fail but I'm afraid alot of people will suffer until we can take back our country and do something with all these corrupt politicians, preferably throw all of them in jail. So stay strong and we all need to be on our knees every time we can and pray for the whistle blowers and most of all our brave soldiers. I rely on reports like yours plus the reproduced text of BHO's speeches in the morning papers to know what he has said or done because I get physically ill listening to him and cannot view his performances. He seems congenitally incapable of moving beyond campaign rhetoric into substance with details that can be confirmed. I think he actually believes a lot of what he's saying because he's been able his entire life to say things and then make them happen. That works with a compliant bunch of followers, faculties of liberal universities intent on seeing minorities succeed by cutting them all the slack they need to pass, in environments like ACORN where truth is a rare commodity, but it won't fly with me or most of the rest of the country that expects actual substance. Joe Wilson expressed my sentiments exactly and his outburst was in keeping with a tradition the Democrats joyfully carried on during Bush II's speeches to Congress. I guess the rules are different now that we have a diety in the White House.

There are a couple of things we can do to encourage more Joe Wilsons. First, Donate to Joe Wilson's reelection campaign. It ain't right, but money talks and a substantial increase in donations to his campaign right after his "Speaking Truth to Power" might wake some of the rest of congress up. Let's find out how Congressman Wilson's campaign chest is doing in about a week.
Second, write your Senator, Representative, and any other elected official you feel like writing. Tell them you just donated to Joe Wilson's campaign fund and why. Ask them why they are not more like Joe Wilson. Tell them they if they want campaign money from you they need to be calling the left on their lies and distortions like Joe Wilson did.

God forbid a single piece of evidence of all these supposed "lies" be presented. But then you wouldn't be able to shoot off at the mouth since they weren't, you know, lies. Why is it the president says he won't sign a bill into law that covers illegals and you say he's lying? HAS he signed a bill into law to cover illegals? Nope, sure hasn't. Not a lie. I had liberal friends up until about 1994. At around that point in time, it became clearer and clearer that they not only thought I was stupid for believing what I believed, they simply thought they were better, smarter and more in tune with it all. I have my own ideas on healthcare (massive tort reform, join a gym, eat right, mandatory calamity insurance for any adult over eighteen – it is still pretty cheap and they can go out and be, as they believe, invincible – if an illegal alien comes in with an emergency – patch them up, find the rest of their family and friends who are illegal, and ship them out on the next available bus) and I appreciate those dyed in the wool liberals who truly believe that this bill will help everyone – unfrotunately, they are not looking at the facts or reading the bill.

I am a Canadian, we, like every other advanced country in the world have a national healthcare. This summer while in North Carolina I was talking about what it was like to a local. They had done 'all their research' and they knew the real story. They proceeded to tell me that what I live with and what I have personally experienced is not true. They told me that I am assigned a doctor and I wait days in emergency rooms to see someone. That's not true. Now I am not saying there are not problems but, I sleep well at night knowing that if I break a leg or have a heart attack my family will not suffer financially.

Where does the US rank in comparisson? 50th, behind such giants as Jordan and Malta. As life expectancy is a direct measure of how good health care is, this kind of proves that yet again Ms. Jackson, you are full of dung.

Most certainly. Disdainful? Deffinately. Otherwise disrespectfully attributing to another qualities of disreputableness? No questiona bout that one.

Here's a hint on how to keep friends who don't necessarily agree with you on everything: When they voice an opinion you find wrong, it's better to assume that they have come to their conclusion honestly and through the same kind of thought process that brought you to yours. In other words, show a little respect. I think you'll be amazed to find out how much you get back. But if your friend says something you don't like and you tell them they only believe it because they "drank the kool-aid," your friend isn't going to waste any more time with you.

Sure, Wilson was rude. Not like a Democrat during the Bush administration though (remember Pete Stark? You should). It is good that Wilson apologized – us being the adult party here – but let us not forget that he is right about Obama. It is evident that Obama lies frequently and with pathological ease. How nice to know that invading a country that posed no threat, institutionalizing torture, and attempting to eliminate habeas corpus were all too minor to interrupt your busy life, but now that there's a Democrat in the White House you feel a need to be poltically involved because he's, well, he might raise taxes on the top one percent of earners. Perhaps we should have been a bit more selective about what Change we needed.
