9/12 Tea Party: Talking With the ‘Turf’
by Veronica DiPippoOn September 12, 2009, I grabbed my MiniDV camera and moseyed on over to the Tea Party protest in West Los Angeles to chat with some super-charged “Astroturf.” I spoke with numerous varieties from a vast spectrum of turfdom including the ever-vivacious, Evan Sayet polypropylene turf with advanced Anti-Intellectual Dishonesty Guard™, and the high-performance, all-weather Sonja Schmidt turf.
Present were swatches from every race, creed, color, age, and political and socio-economic background. Conspicuously absent were members of the mainstream media who seem determined to continue treading a poison ivy laden path towards irrelevance.

Now instead of ignoring the Astoturf movment, the "Ministry of Truth" is sending out the landscapers to mow it.
Now, instead of just ignoring the Astoturf movment, the "Ministry of Truth" is sending out the landscapers to mow it.
No fancy pre-printed placards, no groups of people all wearing the same T-shirts, no memorized slogans. Sheesh. These no-thinking Turfnoids sure know how to hide the fact they're all on the payroll of the big insurance companies, big Pharma, Wall Street big shots, the Trilateral Commission and the military-industrial complex.
NOT.
Pay attention, big gov dems. Or not – at your own peril.
Were Back!
We The People
Great sign, great slogan, great video!
After attending the 9-12 Rally in DC, I would like to compliment your capture of the true essence of why we felt compelled to attend — regardless of what coast, city, or location. ENOUGH!
Did you see all those racists?
that last speaker: "233 years ago our founding fathers did it; and now it's our turn." Terrific!
And the one saying that you don't see thousands of Americans running up to Canada for health care!
Excellent!
Where was SEIU and the ACORN *grassroots*? AFL*CIO? "Felons That Vote.org" ?
How about "I'm Dead So COUNT MY VOTE.org" ?
Liberals always accuse others of doing what they themselves are doing.
I love the vaseline sign
They do say Astroturf is hotter, no wonder the MSM stayed in their air-conditioned caves.
Strange though you did not see Pelosi out there sunning herself. But then she would be in danger of getting run over…
Sheila Jackson Lee said "interview them" so we could see the 'tea party goers' racism. Mrs. Lee, I saw NO RACISM out there. I saw people who want their government back. I SEE PATRIOTS!!!!
Good going Veronica!

Actually it was Maxine Waters who wants to interview us. Jackson Lee is concerned about hurricane names being too caucasian.
Bob Hope called this a long time ago…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWpU8sX10_4
Wonderful video, thanks for posting! I loved seeing patriots of every complexion, literally. There were some great signs and slogans there. I've been designing some T shirts about my political opinions (http://www.hangemall.com) . Since really paying studious attention to political graphics, I have to say that the Conservatives have a much better sense of humor than the Libs, and therefore make better signs. The Libs just take their Soros money and professionally print up their humorless slogans!
Racists, racists everywhere!
Amazing!
Everybody knows that the only people who attended these things were racists.
Who knew that we were all so very, very racist? Remember: “YOU’RE SURELY A RACIST, IF…” at http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/...
I had the good fortune to be there, and a good time was had by all. No fussing or fighting, and we cleaned up after ourselves. And while the major media pointedly ignored us, the Congressional staff knew we were there. They say that next year there will be a family march, that will be fun.
My apologies, I confused one loud mouth democrat congresswoman for another loud mouth democrat congresswoman. It won't happen again.

Talkin with the Turf
That should be a Blues song
But there were fancy preprinted placards. A popular one said "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy" which should be repugnant to anyone regardless of your political affiliation. This sign was mass printed and distributed by a group whose funds came from the insurance companies called The American Life League – ALL.
There was also a giant bus used by the oil companies to truck in protesters with their giant logo on the side.
Admittedly there was a diverse crowd of protesters crowing about every sort of issue, which was kind of humorous since the whole thing was supposedly going to be a unifying event to bring us all together like we were the day after 9/11. Right?
Excellent…….But is anybody listening?
Good job!
We are Patriots– hear us ROAR !
What do you mean 'better' > Libs havw NO sense of humor
Sheila Jackson Lee was the one on a science committee who wanted the Martian Rover to pick up and return the U.S. Flag the astronauts left.
She's also the one who took phone calls while "listening to" a cancer-stricken constituent's redresses.
Oh, and she's also the one who had a lefty from NY play a doctor from Houston to create a false impression with to the people she supposedly serves.
amused to see you embrace the astro-turf description. But now I wonder if you appreciate what it means.
Great video! Now we have to take this energy and REALLY do something within the actual political process!
Here's how to really "do something." Become a Republican Party precinct committeeman ("PC").
Go here to learn more: http://www.theprecinctproject.wordpress.com
PCs get to vote for the leadership of the Party and help determine, my majority vote, which candidates get the endorsement of the Party in the Republican primary races. Only takes a few hours of time a month. With half the PC slots in the Party nationwide vacant, and with a fifty-fifty split right now between conservatives and moderate RINOs in the PC ranks, the Party is there for the taking by conservatives/libertarians if we'd all just get off our duffs and get to a meeting of the local GOP and volunteer to become a PC. Want to save your country? Then invigorate the "main enemy" of the Debtocrat/Socialist Party with your presence.
(By the way, half of the Party leadership, the moderates, DON'T WANT YOU TO BECOME A PC, BECAUSE THEY AND THEIR RINO CRONIES WILL GET VOTED OUT OF THE LEADERSHIP — THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT THIS BASIC CIVICS.)
Becoming a PC should be every conservative's first priority. Blogging and carrying a sign at a Tea Party or attending a town hall is great, but unless we have better leadership and candidates in the main adversary party, the Debtocrats will get returned to power. It's all about the Constitution and all about winning the elections. The best way to restore the Constitution and to have better candidates who respect the Constitution is to join the Republican Party at the grass roots and make it happen. It's a numbers game. The more conservatives we have in the Party in the precinct committeemen ranks, the more likely it will be that we'll get better elected leadership within the Party and in the general elections. Michael Steele was elected not by registered Republicans but by the precinct committeemen in all fifty states.
Also, you can go to http://www.redstate.com to learn more, too. Just type in the words precinct and committeeman into the search pane and hit the search button and links to a lot of good info will be presented too you.
Thank you.
Cold Warrior
I am only one. But I am a conservative Republican precinct committeeman and desperately trying to get other Constitution-loving conservatives and libertarians to do the same.

What I loved best about it was the fact she had an accent and still called them her founding fathers. It is not too surprising that the folks who came from somewhere else know how great this country is (and how fragile liberty truly is) while those born here don't appreciate just what they've got!
Too, funny1
All Texas isn't embarrassed, though- just Houston.
Vote her out, ya'll.
The Turfers have proven we can organize; the next step is to organize a boycott. We can never out yell the Left, and even if we could, the propaganda media wouldn't cover it, but what we can do is build some central site where we astrosods can go to find listings of those companies, corporations etc who advertise on propaganda media and start systematically defunding them by refusing to buy their products. The Left's base is made up of the Superrich, welfare, academe and media. How much money do they spend? The Superrich buy private jets and spend a lot of their bucks in high end stores that don't need to advertise; those on welfare don't usually buy the products advertised on propaganda media. So let the Lefty academicians and the media support the companies who advertise in propaganda sources. We can stomp and yell and scream and carry signs, but it won't have half the impact as a boycott.
It's called sarcasm; the witless dhimicrats accuse us of doing what they do! Otherwise known as PROJECTION!
