‘Terminator Salvation’ Revelations
by Tom TappThe final trailer for “Terminator Salvation” has hit the blogosphere. It’s four minutes long and some are saying it reveals too much. Peter Sciretta of Slashfilm.com complains it “basically squeezes the entire film into 4 minutes.” I’ve embedded the trailer below so you can judge for yourself.

I say, after three previous movies, if anyone’s going to this film to be surprised, they’re probably going to be disappointed. If a film creates a compelling world, knowing the plot does not matter. Call it “The Godfather Effect.” I’ve seen those films (“Godfather I” or “II,” take your pick) dozens of times, yet I’ll always stop and watch them while couchsurfing.
Why? Great characters and a fascinatingly rich world centered on power and family.
While I’m not saying “Salvation” is “The Godfather,” I do like the world of these films. I’m seeing “Salvation” tonight with BH honcho John Nolte and I can’t wait.
Oh, and speaking of revealing too much, “Salvation” director McG tells SciFi Wire a promised nudie scene where Moon Bloodgood takes her shirt off felt gratuitous.
Here’s Moon:
And here’s what McG told SciFi Wire:
There’s a topless scene of Moon Bloodgood that I thought was a very beautiful scene, that Moon thought was a beautiful scene, that we ultimately cut because we didn’t want to fall into any of the cliches of the genre, like “Here’s the scene where the beautiful girl takes her top off.” I thought it was a soft moment between a man and a woman that was designed to echo the Kelly McGillis/Harrison Ford moment in Witness, for God’s sake. They never touch each other; they just notice each other. But, in the end, it felt more like a gratuitous moment of a girl taking her top off in an action picture, and I didn’t want that to convolute the story or the characters.
For the cynics out there who say the studio probably pressured him into it for a PG-13 rating, McG says it ain’t so, honest Injun’:
We were liberated by [Warner Brothers president of production] Jeff Robinov from day one, and I give you my word that there’s no way that Christian or Sam or I, for that matter, would shoot a picture aiming for a rating.

That's fine- we can wait until the 2 disc special edition DVD with deleted scenes. But they better include this scene you mentioned, or I WILL send a killer robot back in time, and terminate McG.
Moon Bloodgood is a goddess.
LOL. that's the funniest post I've read on breit bart yet.
After the 3 Terminator movies, Sarah Conner's chronicles, and CB killing the magic with is big mouth, I'm all Terminatored out. I just can't imagine him as John Conner.
It seemed like it's worth a watch to me. But I love special effects and things that go boom, so I'm probably not planning on great plot development anyway.
I'm normally not a fan the genre, but I love the Terminator franchise – it's the rare one that seems to get better with each pic, although I'll now self-contradict and note that nothing they do can beat T2.
That's hot.
Its gonna be hard to watch the movie and see whats his name and not laugh thinking of him cussing for 20 minutes.
Maybe they should have just wrote an encrypted virus and uploaded it into SKYNET so every time John Conner cussed robots blew up all over the place…….man he could have wiped them out in about 5 min…lol
This is irony. This clip that 'tells too much' is the first trailer that makes me actually want to see that film.

Well, I'm definitely waiting for the DVD now. In fact, I'm thinking, "Unrated Director's Cut." LOL!
I'm still not particularly excited about this, but no movie with Michael Ironside can be entirely bad.
I might get some boos for this but I never got into the approach for the plot line of this series. On it's surface it sounds like an interesting Sci-Fi flick but it turned into a computer graphics race. Thinking back to going and seeing some of the Terminators all the roar about them was the cutting edge computer graphics and massive explosions. It turns out all the hype was correct that was all the movie was about.
As CG kept moving forward it just made the Terminator series less and less relevant. If they had stuck more to the plot of the movie and advanced the time frame faster I may have been more into the movie. Any movie that inserts time travel into it's theme creates a spider web of problems for the plot.
For a purely visual series taking a topless Moon out of it was a bad idea it's already a cheesy Sci-Fi Flick.
I was going to be snarky and say "Total Recall," but I actually kinda liked that one. Nice, pointless little flick.

A ton of explosions, fighting for human survival, and Christian Bale. Who care about plot or critics. This is at the top of my summer movie list.
I'm sorry…did someone say "Boom"? Count me in.
Big guns…explosions…killer robots…hot babes, er…women…fightin’ bad guys, (Mechs), intent on wiping out all of humanity.
What’s not to love?
"There's no fate…but the one you make", or who you marry.
Not Over.
Killer robot and the woman I married. Redundant.
Highlander 2. Nuff said.
HAH!
(isn't it great that our wives don't mess with the computer and never see this sort of stuff?!)
She did, and that's at least part of why I'm divorced.
Well, at least she didn't decide to …terminate…you (OUCH- sorry!).
And thanks for the heads up, I shall henceforth self-censor any remarks that could possibly be misconstrued by MY wife. After all, I don't have a food taster like King and Queen Obama…
Yeah, wow… I'm pretty damn sure I just saw the WHOLE movie… and it doesn't look so hot. Yes, fine, lots of big things go boom. That's a function of budget, not talent – an area wherein "McG" (dear god, man, you're WHITE. And in your thirties) is consistently lacking.
Mwaah, to be frank the trailer is much like current century Marvel comics: much ado nothing. And the 'tough guy' hoarse voice of 'John Conner' is really cliche and annoying. To be frank, I'd rather have they re-release (without fiddling) old classics like Sergio Leone's work to the big screen, than see any more 'Franchise Sequal X' flicks. Heck, make a movie about apocryphia from the Old Testament (Enoch etc.) or the Koran if for want of insperation.
Obama Bought The Presidency
Therein lies the reason I avoid such humorous jabs at the spouse online, however tempting. I have to sleep face down as it is.
I suppose it´s possible that McG will start to demonstrate some talent for real filmmaking. Until he does it´s safer to approach this as an "expect the worst and you may have a good time" kind of deal.
Pity, If I really didn't care to see this franchise continue–should have stopped after T2 IMHO–I was at least hoping to get a nice view of the "full Moon".
Actually, after seeing the picture of that flawless lady I think I need to adjourn to a different website. Ta Ta(s).
was that michael ironside? His voice is stuck in my head after playing all four of the Splinter Cell games.
Anton Yelchin plays Kyle Reese??? The dude that was Scotty in Star Trek is kyle Reese? That doesn't sit too well with me. The guy that plays him in the TV series is actually much better.
And I was never in love with Christian Bale as John Connor. I always thought of Connor as more of a sophisticated, cerebral leader — but one that can also handle a weapon as well as anyone.
I may be in the minority in this one, but I have similar thoughts regarding Bale as Bruce Wayne. I think Christopher Nolan's Batman films are the two best superhero films ever made, but something always felt a little … off … to be about Bale.
To me Bale seems to be better playing characters whose actions are dictated by their emotions. His little diva moment just solidified that for me — and completely shattered the illusion.
That all being said, I simply can not wait for this film. The Terminator franchise is easily my second favorite — behind Star Wars, or course.
Correction: Yelchin plays Checkov — my bad.
I dunno. This trailer grabbed me where Star Trek just missed. I think I'll be seeing this one where I won't be seeing Trek until it's out on video.
When I see trailers like this, about possible futures, etc. I think to myself, 'ya know, maybe Hemingway was wrong. Maybe the world isn't worth saving after all."
