Big Hollywood Readers, Admit It
by Tom ShillueWe’re glad.
Despite witnessing the unprecedented sycophancy of the past few days. Despite the fact that our friends are walking around with silly grins on their faces like they’ve been popping tabs of ecstasy. Despite having to listen to breathless journalists in Washington D.C. hyperventilating as they spoke about being a part of history. “I think I just saw the top of his head! Yes that was it! This is historic!”
It’s better than the alternative.
I’m only speaking for those of us in New York and L.A. I know there are a lot of you in flyover country who don’t know what I’m talking about, but you have to understand what it is like living among people in “the business.” We’ve been surrounded by bitterness so long, we just want everyone we know to be happy for a little while.
We suffer from Stockholm syndrome. You remember when Patty Hearst finally decided to slip on a beret, strap on an AK-47 and knock off a few banks? That’s us. Were gonna go with the flow for a while. (In fact, I think Patty was the first person to utter the phrase, “Yes we can!” Granted, she was cowering in a closet with a gun pointed at her head, but she still meant it.)
Would we really want to see John McCain being sworn in right now? What satisfaction would that give us? Does anybody really have a passion for the crafting of bipartisan campaign finance legislation? His presidency would not make our lives demonstrably better. Add to that knowing we would have to go to work every day and be met by those sullen, angry faces uttering unhinged conspiracy theories and performing seemingly endless monologues about Halliburton. I can’t listen to another one of those. Kansas – I know you’ve heard about these people, but we actually have to share dressing rooms with them. Have a little sympathy.
Plus, we care less about who is president. We do. Politics is not where we derive our sense of self. We live our lives and we would like the policies of our country to reflect our priorities. But our emotional well being is not tied to who is sitting in the White House. Theirs really is. Just look at those faces at the inauguration. When was the last time you cried from happiness when it didn’t involve your wife or children?
So admit it. Things have turned out for the better. Dozens of people have wished me “Happy Inauguration” already, and I just smile and say, “You too!”

The left thinks the right is evil and definitely dangerous.
The right thinks the left is silly and perhaps dangerous.
That explains the differing reactions to elections and attitudes about those in power.
I am happy for some of the people, but utterly annoyed at others. Then again, I can’t wait for that moment when they actually figure out that Obama really is just another politician, and was less than candid about what he was going to do when elected. I wonder if Chris Matthews’ leg will stop tingling?
Tom,
Excellent piece.
I’ve been wondering, since the day of the election “what’s the Big Deal anyway?”
Sure, if you are 50+ years old, and black, I could see how this election would mean a lot to you, in a symbolic sense.
But what is with all the wealthy 30-something whitebreads getting choked up and staining their Hollister pullovers?
Like you, I cried when my wife said “yes”, I cried when my grandpa died, and I cried when my son was born. Today, I did the same thing I do on every inauguration day — I went to work, and did my job.
Crying over a scripted political event? Really?
Grow a pair for crissakes. Be a man.
Brilliant! You are so 100% right. I think if McCain had won, I would have had to leave my job! Stockholm syndrome is exactly right. I knew something was terribly wrong with me when I could not say “Merry Christmas” only “Happy Holidays”. They were starting to get to me. Saved just in the nick of time!
Glad is a little strong, but I appreciate your perspective as a fellow Californian. Thank you. I agree, seeing McCain sworn in right now would give somewhat minimal satisfaction. As for self-absorbed, that’s kind of it and kind of not. (I like your shirt, by the way.) But the larger framework I’m focusing on is centered on a God who is ruling sovereignly over the whole earth and history, and on his Son, who was and is not a community organizer as Sarandon quipped, but who is and will remain the real “Messiah.” (Sorry, Barack.)
I am also amazed by the bipolar nature of the left.
Before the election, everything was doom, gloom, and apocalypse (int’l relations, economy, healthcare, future – all “SUCKED”)
Then, in one moment, they all turned on a dime and became maniacally happy.
Not just relieved and optimistic, but bat-sh!t crazy, “I just chased 5 lines of coke with 4 shots of espresso laced with ecstasy” happy.
That’s not healthy.
And that’s why we on the right just sigh and try to walk away quietly without making eye contact.
Good post. Besides, the guy is going to be living with two angry black women and one them is his mother-in-law. He won’t want to be there in four years.
Tom, you are right.
I feel a sense of peace among my blinded coworkers.
Something tells me to buy the shirt I saw advertised today saying “You’ll be Disappointed” using the obama logo(at the young americans for liberty online store).
The Left is absolutely, without question dangerous. Just because they are frivolous and petty too does not negate the fact that they want to see destroyed the ability to make money, have inexpensive fuel, and freedom of speech and thought. I have never met anyone who wanted to curtail my free speech rights more than liberals. Hollywood is not only the spoiled and self-absorbed but the people who promote bad ideas and give money to causes that are harmful.
1) Obama is a sex symbol in D.C. – as close to a modern-day Elvis as possible.
2) Though we got to see very little of her so far, Michelle has come across as bossy, unhappy, and short-tempered.
3) Scarlett Johansson wants to serve on his Presidential staff…
4) He wants to be JFK + Abe Lincoln –> and you know that’s why the Actor’s Guild hated Lincoln back in the day – he was banging all the hot actresses.
Tom — bingo! couldn’t agree more. (and very funny by the way) I’m a Conservative, and I’m a happy guy, as happy Nov. 3 as I was Nov. 5. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that a Conservative looks to himself for solutions to problems……and not to Washington. And that independence frees us to live happy, enriched lives, completely unassociated with who happens to be occupying the White House at the time.
Speak for yourself, Tom. The possibility of eight years of this is too much for me.
I agree. When I read the headline a couple days ago “McCain: I would have made many of the same picks myself”, I couldn’t help but know that for that very reason, McCain had to lose.
As for Colin Powell “thinking” he’s still a republican? He’s the only one that thinks that. He doesn’t impress.
Terrence beat me to it. Don’t kid yourself. The left is extremely dangerous. You think the current state of California, thanks to 20 years of idiot liberal rule, is a laughing matter? I sure don’t. There’s a commercial running here in CA that says something like “When the country wants a glimpse of the future, it looks to California.” I pray the commercial is not as prophetic as I fear it is.
Funny post Tim, but don’t get too carried away. It would have been better for the country if McCain was elected even if it would have been another four years of bitching from the Sunshine Patriots. Hang in there in Hollywierd. Remember, it could be worse; you could be in a foriegn country where if you’re on a base that gets rocketed and mortared, that’s considered safe duty. And at the same time there are idiots in your own country saying your too stupid to know better or a criminal. Overall, what a great country, where we have an election with more than one name on the ballot.
I heard an interview with Rick Santorum today (with Hugh Hewitt I believe) and Rick was saying that ole John is going to go back to the John we know – at critical times when conservatives are blocking something we believe to be detrimental, John will form a coalition to defeat it (eg, Gang of 14)
I think the difference – before the election – with McCain and Obama with conservatives was that with McCain we were afraid of what we could get but hoped for the best – with Obama we know what we are getting.
Well, we think we know what we are getting. Time will tell.
We have been “punked”.
To quote the great race baiter, the Rev. Jesse Jackson….” I want to cut Obama’s balls off.” To Jesse, that is hope and change.
I’ve been good-naturedly congratulating my liberal friends on Obama’s Presidency, only to have them spew more Bush Derangement Syndrome rants back in my face.
I could almost give them a pass while the man was in power, just let them vent to assuage their rage. But to jeer him on his way out today was tasteless, graceless, crass, sophomoric, senseless and unforgiveable.
Today, I just slashed and burned several so-called “friends” off My Space and Facebook, not because they’re rabid imbeciles, but because I think they are genuinely afflicted and I don’t want to catch whatever infection is that they’re spreading around. I’m ridding myself of all my hate-filled, boat-anchor “friends” and good riddance to them. I wonder how many people realize how much of themselves they truly reveal on these social networking web sites? Plenty. The truly evil ones cannot help themselves and keep their filthy mouths shut.
Does Obama actually think that he can “will” this rabid rabble into ceasing their constant flow of bile and slanders and complell them to stop being “childish”?
No way.
The left has created this monster and they will be devoured by it. It will be up to conservatives, as always, to step in and clean up the broken pieces that the liberals leave behind. In the meantime, let’s hope that the Republic can withstand the strain of the next several years.
As for me, I’m putting in an order for a Mossberg 550 tomorrow. Because when the next shoe drops — and I feel fairly confident that it will on Obama’s watch — I’m not going to depend on this already over-burdened government to defend my loved ones and property. Katrina served a valuable wake-up all on that front.
I even more disappointed now. After seeing his supporters today, Im even more convinced that if he had lost, L.A. would be burning today…I was kinda looking forward to that :\
You’ve got the right attitude. The world ends on December 21st, 2012 anyway, so who cares?
“I am a conservative and sincerely glad to see Obama as president. It is truly a great historical occasion and I am glad for everyone. John McCain would have continued the division in the country and like many I am very tired of the hatred and would rather see my opponent win rather than see the country continue as it was.”
Why not kneel down on one knee & had them your sword while you’re at it?
I’d rather go down fighting…
I don’t know, I’ve got a feeling that for the next four years I will have to listen to excuse after excuse about how all the problems Obama and the Democrats are going to cause are really the fault of Bush and the Republicans, orchestrated in some evil conspiracy by Karl Rove. These people have been irrational for the last eight years, I don’t expect them to change now — in fact, I expect they’ll get worse.
Calling yourself a conservative and then comparing Obama to Reagan is laying it on thick, Rodger. You can be happy for blacks, happy for our country and happy for the foreigners who are proud of America, even if they don’t know how this man’s election will inevitably hurt her. But an actual conservative would know that Obama is committed to dismantling everything the Founders had set forth as their vision for our country. Obama is fully indoctrinated in the leftists’ philosophy and has spoken of a second Bill of Rights, a new “declaration of independence” and a “living, breathing Constitution.” Bigger government is not the answer, and we must keep our eyes on our new President.
I sure agree with most things being expressed here. Remember that old saying…Things have to get worse, before they get better?
This ordeal will refresh America’s ideas about freedom.
No, personally, I would prefer we were swearing in McCain right now even though he was my least favorite Republican candidate. I think we are now going to be a nation run by lawyers who have no respect for the culture that created America. My only hope is that Obama, like Willie from The Caine Mutiny, will finally grow up as he tours the vessel that is now his sole responsibility.
It will be nice, however, if liberals STFU for a while. I’m tired of the incessant whining. But I don’t expect them to be any more gracious in winning than they were in losing.
I have enjoyed underground weird music for years and have come to the conclusion that the underground scene sells out when we have a republican president. They loose the creative edge and start making anti-music to pay the rent. They did it in the 60’s, the 80’s and now in the 00’s. I didn’t vote for Obama but can’t wait for the strings and skins to wake up and create something different. Who knows maybe I’ll stop pirating music.
Cliff out
Obama will govern like Lincoln in some ways. He will jail opposition leaders, close voices against him, suspend the habeus corpus for his “enemies,” ignore court rulings he disagrees with, deploy troops to put down demonstrations against his policies. See, he can be just like Lincoln in those ways.
Even out here in flyover country (Missouri in my case) we have dressing rooms, green rooms and several forms of entertainment not involving livestock. If you work in this business anywhere in the country, you’ve had to deal with BDS…trust me. And, as you, I tried to put a happy face on this morning and let the useful idiots have their day. But, I’m sorry to say I failed. Somewhere around 11:45am EST, those touting peace and love and getting along, chose to break with hundreds of years of tradition and give President George W. Bush their version of a coup de grace; Brooklyn style. It was classless, tasteless and utterly predictable. And now they’re in charge.
What has happened in this country since Howard Dean and Michael Moore proved to the Democrat Party that money could be made by lying about Bush is nothing short of shameful. Before that and after 911, Dems were forced to probe the flanks trying to figure out a way to take the President down without looking unpatriotic during a widely supported war. The Bush approval ratings were in the 70’s. After the unholy alliance of MoveOn.Dean started making money and noise, all bets were off. They proved conclusively, that a frontal assault, even if completely fabricated, could work. How quickly after Iowa ‘04 did John Kerry finally wake up and realize he was against the war even after cheerleading for it? VERY quickly, indeed. The point is this: what has happened to “W”, to an honorable man faced with the unfathomable circumstance of 911 and the economical, military, political and spiritual chaos it left in its wake, is nothing short of a national disgrace. It was premeditated, it was dishonest, and it worked. Now Bush leaves office a pariah, his Party in disarray, and some of us (my early, pre-coronation self included) just hoping the hate would stop. Surely Bush would be treated as a retiring President should be treated. How wrong we were. The president was booed and the benediction seemed oblivious to what was transpiring at the time. An African American had just been sworn into the White House and some old, race obsessed geezer is still praying for a day when “Black won’t have to get in back” and “White will embrace what is right”? “Yellow will ne mellow”?!?
The audacity of hate will not stop, because that is what feeds the Democrat beast. There’s too much money to be made; too many votes to be had. They hated Nixon. They hated Reagan. They hated G.H.W. Bush and they REALLY hated Bush 43. They hate the fact that conservatives, of any stripe, exist. Worse though, is that we let them. We laughed at the “idiot” jokes. We smiled or walked away as lies were told and believed and re-told, all in the name of “keeping the peace”. How did it feel to watch the utter BS of Moore quickly become accepted by many as truth? How did it feel to know that Iraq, though painful, was the right thing to do and, even as success approached, sat mute as the uninformed or the malignantly ignorant cheered in victory as each multiple of 1000 killed approached?
The list of lies and distortions about the 43rd President of the United States of America is endless. Why? In part, because we grew too weary to fight back. We let the lies take root. We trusted that Americans were too intelligent to be taken in. We waited for someone else to do the dirty work so we wouldn’t have to sit in craft services and eat alone. We were very, very wrong.
Today, America was disgraced. Today, a decent, principled and honest man was faced with extreme humiliation and took it with dignity. And today, we HOPE that things will CHANGE. They won’t. The left only wants to bring the nation together when they are in charge, and because we wimped out; they are.
Obama preached a post-partisan vision, but sat smiling while his supporters abandoned any pretense of decorum. I think, in and of it self, that speaks volumes about what we can expect from the new administration.
I’m just one guy in flyover country who happens to work in the music business, but I’m pissed the frig off! While I, as any American should, will give my new President the support and respect his office commands, I look back at the crap our last President (and yes; sometimes we) had to take, up until the last second of his term and beyond, and I shake my head. What have we allowed this nation to become?
Sure, let’s rejoice in the fact that we won’t be called names or have our cars’ paint jobs keyed for a month or two, but history tells us the respite will be short-lived and the damage done to our nation in the meantime will take decades to undo. If anything, we should take what has happened since the New York doctor from Vermont and the fat, ugly guy from Michigan began the end of polite political discourse, and let it be a lesson to us all. “I get on my knees and pray…we won’t get fooled again.”
“Meet the new boss…”
Four things that you people can do for me:
1) Cough blood
2) Die
3) Bloat
4) Explode
K2 – Excellent post! I too am also guilty of smiling and walking away after too many screaming matches and eliminating friends. So now I get to say the ball is in Obama’s hands and he has to deal with the consequences of his decisions, though all the negative consequences will conveniently be blamed on Bush.
Tom.
No.
The left will still blame everything that the One can’t fulfill on George W Bush, whether it’s next week or in 4 years. You’re kidding yourself that everything is peachy again. I’m in LA, and already seeing this.
The left’s whining and bitching has become so tedious, I’m glad we’ve been granted a temporary reprieve.
KR
Great post…says it all. Such great posts, everyone, except the usual and prolific Blifil..this guy is on every posting…no life but thinking we give a crap about his predictable one trick pony opinions..
Repubs won’t ever come back because the libs, minorities are pumping out the future voters faster than conservatives and are indoctrinating at every level of media and teachers unions all the way up through college.
We lost because not because we didn’t try to fight, we are unable to fight fair with the MSM and movies taking up all the air in the room. The hating and the delight they take in making fun of other people is unnatural. A baby doesn’t laugh at screaming, hurting other people and witnessing melt down tantrums. I have no hope of Repubs ever taking office again.
Now, that said, I would like everyone’s opinion of uniting in a form of “shadow” life. A dual existence that is self contained. We need communities of right minded people in which to live. We need places to move to. We need to research how to protect ourselves physically and especially keep them out of our wallets, our speech, our homes. Tax attorneys to protect us from losing all our money down the drain of “sharing the wealth” to raise more taxeaters.
I would move to these towns or communitites and live a peaceful parallel life with kinder, gentler Americans.
Any got suggestions where this might be? I would like access to cities, culture, beaches, rolling hills on east coast areas.
Does anyone know of any towns like this? Maybe some outpost of Repub Virginia?
We could start with retirement communities for people who can move anywhere and add younger people as they can get employment in these communities. Wouldn’t it be great to live with conservation values, individual rights and truly the way the Constitution was intended.
Please let’s organize this….
Enjoy it while it lasts…they will find something to bitch about.
Uh, Tom?
Living here in flyover country- Chicago to be exact. You know- the place the empty suit that is now infesting the White house claims as his “home”.
Also the ground zero of Improv Theatre (compass players, then second city), and where most of the good actors in America are from (Malkovich, Sinise, Joan Allen, Cusacks, Piven, William Peterson, etc.)
Spent some time being a nobody here in “the business”, and your morons ain’t got nothing on our morons. I’d even nominate John Cusack as a prime contender to dethrone Spicoli Penn as “the ultimate tool” for his excremental Grace is Gone and War, Inc.
The point being- lay off the condescension, you folks on the coasts ain’t unique, and sadly the demented affliction that is liberalism has infested the heartland of America just as much as the coasts.
And the eejits just keep a comin’…
dale says:
“Four things that you people can do for me:
1) Cough blood
2) Die
3) Bloat
4) Explode”
Profound stuff, dale. You’re definitely channeling Socrates with that bit of enlightened dialogue. You must be ever so proud. Bless your heart.
Dan said:
“when he decides that ‘wiretapping’ aint such a bad idea after all..”
Uh, Dan? The wizard of uhs has already come out in favor of FISA. Where you been, man?
beyond sad-
re: the premise of your post- would advise you to read some Ayn Rand. Start with “We the Living”. If you like that, get “The Fountainhead”. Next comes “Atlas Shrugged”.
Pop quiz- who is our real life Ellsworth Monkton Toohey, and why?
Lefties will NEVER stop bitching. It’s the only thing that drives them. I’m not “glad” Obama won, I’m not sad that McCain lost. They are both soulless political hacks with nothing but the unfufillable lust for the trappings of power.
What distresses me is that the Presidential election has been American Idol-ized. I guarantee you that if half the Obamatards got over their BDS and actually researched Obama’s lies, flip-flops, socialist background, corrupt and racist “mentors” latent racism, political opportunism, etc etc the guy would never have gotten out of Chicago.
To top it off his direct hand in the current economic crisis as a lawyer for ACORN, the 100’s of millions of dollars in illegal overseas campaign donations- he is as responsible for this mess as Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. If a Conservative candidate had pulled any of that he’d be in jail already. Instead the MSM and “journalists” have their tongue up is ass and their fingers in their ears trying to say “lalala I’m not lithening!”.
Clips of Obamatards on campus who can’t name their own Senators or which party is in power prove that the public has been dumb-downed enough to elect Paris Hilton if they were programmed to. Is that going to change in 4 years? I doubt it. I fear that the damage the left will do in 4-8 years will be too much to recover from. What was that Mike Judge flick- “Idiocracy”? I see that happening soon if the press and Hollywood liberal culture is allowed to run amok unfettered. I guess this site is a good start but we will need a lot more and FAST.
Ronald H. sez:
“and whether you are a republican or a democrat, liberal or conservative, you should (at the very least) recognize that our new President is an intelligent man. One who cares about this country, our economy and our liberty.”
Hmmmm. This intelligence you speak of- how do you objectively quantify it? Can you provide IQ test results, college transcripts, samples of his writings from law school or as editor of law review, evidence of accomplishments in the public (e.g., legislation introduced and passed) or private sector (that is, any business achievements outside of utilizing rezko real estate discounts)?
At this point, the only thing one can recognize is the guy can do a king hell job of reading off a teleprompter. Uh uh uh uh uh, you care to disagree?
Further, can you cite examples of statements or acts that would demonstrate this “care” for country, economy, or liberty?
Please keep in mind before answering that I’ve heard the radio show excerpt where obie states the constitution was at root a flawed document, and the Warren supreme court didn’t go far enough vis a vis “redistributive justice” in his opinion. That took place right here in Chicago.
Next?
HELLO ALL, WOW thank you for you thoughs and I must say Icould not agree more. This was an elction where we really had to choose the lesser of the eveils and damn it the country choose the GREATER of the TWO and their is nothing more to do about that untill 2012…. But in the mean time we have 2010 ahead and we need to get our act togather and FIRE everyone who is running for a THIRD TERM…….. House or Senate…. FIRE them. The POWER BROKERS NEED TO GOOOOOO!!! Look thisis where the 3 branches are supposed to work. We cannot let the President have his party ruling both houses…. They are damn close now and we must change that no matter what… That makes the FIRE THEM PART HARD for sure. We have allowed these scumbags to make rules/laws that pretty much make so that if an incumbant looses it will be the other party who takes that seat. The RNC and DNC do not want NEW BLOOD so they almost always push the new blood out befor he/she has a chance to move anywhere near the election. LOOK at the lot we had to choose from in the primaries… THat should make it all to CLEAR to see the POWER thess SCUMBAGS have given them selves and we have allowed them to do it… WELL NOW THE TIME IS HERE TO STOP THEM… Just think how different things would be without DIRTY HARRY, HYPIE NANCY, PIMPMASTER SHARPTON, WAXMAN, FIENGOLD, McCAIN, CHUCKIE SHUMER, BARNIE FRANK MAN THE LIST IS TOOOOO DAMN LONG BUT YOU GET THE IDEA: I HOPE AND PRAY YOU DO!!!
STOP CRYING and lick your sores, wipe your tears and clean your face and get ready for battle NOW!!! Because that is what this is a BATTLE and the WAR is not over even after today….. Take a stand, get involved and fight like not your life depends on VICTORY but your CHILDRENS and your GRANDCHILDRENS LIVES DEPEND ON YOUR ACTION OR YOUR LAZZINESSSSSS!!!!
Ronald H. sez:
“Give the man a chance to aid our country, without preconceived notions of what “leftist” things he will do. The alternative, is to let your bitterness and prejudices cloud your vision and distort your better judgment. Apparently some of you already have a head-start in that direction.”
Doubtless you were dispensing this oh so reasonable and sage advice both 4 and 8 years ago as well.
double standards much?
I heard an interview with Rick Santorum today (with Hugh Hewitt I believe) and Rick was saying that ole John is going to go back to the John we know – at critical times when conservatives are blocking something we believe to be detrimental, John will form a coalition to defeat it (eg, Gang of 14)
OK so let me get this straight….You’re mad at McCain for getting all of Bush’s judicial nominees through, at the same time as he preserved the right of the minority to block judicial nominees of the majority (something that might come in handy over the next 4 years)? And people wonder why the Republicans got their asses handed to them in the last two elections…..
Amen. His followers are truly creepy. Eyes burning with Maoist fervor, they’d start killing us if he told them to.
Gordon, I’m ordering my ” Keep The Change” bumper sticker.
Umm, no. Sorry. I’m not glad. I’m not heartbroken. I’m not bitter. But I’m not glad The One has been elected. I’d rather have a grownup in the oval office.
But that’s just me. I prefer substance over style. That’s why I’m a Republican.
I have learned not to look for a R or a D….I look at what the person has done…you can tell from a person’s past experience what they will do in the future….McCain had a past to look at and judge him by.
Um, those of us in “flyover country” (I object to the term) still have to work with those people, too. And, those other people who are so caught up in the “historia” of what’s going on keep calling me a racist whenever I mention Obama is for FOCA. So, while I appreciate your attempt to look on the bright side, I can’t really say I relate. But thanks for trying.
I completely understand what you’re saying. I am a public school teacher and I can remember when the ‘04 disaster struck (aka Bush won…AGAIN!!!). It’s much better this way.
Oh Mr BLIFIL
Another classless lefty rant, like so many others I know. I totally agree with K2 -The left could not keep it together, unclassy and ugly as they booed Pres. Bush. Don’t we teach our children not to boo sports teams or other individuals that we happen to disagree with? What did the actions of your so called majority say to children? that it is OK to hate people that you disagree with? Especially if they are conservative, republican, or just have some freakin common sense. You sir and your followers are the ones that are filled with hate. Any dissent from the opposite party and you people literally go nuts. Calling people names, making fun of people for different beliefs. Your party is not one of inclusion, quite the opposite. If you don’t agree lock step, your fed to the wolves. The hypocrisy of the left astounds me. For God sakes trying to appoint a man that did not pay taxes to the position of Sect of Treasury !!! Poor Joe the Plumber got hosed by the media for asking a question about Obama’s fiscal plan and what do you know??? Illegal searches by OHIO public employee into his background. YOU astound me.
BEYOND SAD – Abilene TX is the place where your community could be. Although we are not near beaches or rolling hills we have great little art community and we are about 3 hours from Austin, Dallas and San Anotnio.
But we are right minded, meaning we have some damn common sense. But I hope you are not correct, that we cannot come back that is.
OK Andy, take a quick read of this thread, and see if you don’t want to change anything on that post of yours.
Mr Blifil- maybe this thread is one big bitchfest but I’ll allow myself a day of bitching. Then I’ll get up and go to work with a smile on my face. I’ll laugh heartily every time O, Reid, Pelosi, et al stick their foot in it. I expect it to be highly entertaining. You on the other hand are picking fights the day after your horse one. You people really have issues.
As for Obama (PBUH) I just pray he keeps our defenses up. I see he is already working on letting the headchoppers in Gitmo lawyer up on his 1st day in office. Hmm…
Yesterday, I was texting my grandma about how everyone at work was stopping what they were doing to go watch “history”, while I was one of the few actually still working.
You know what she told me? She told me to keep my opinions to myself, because now is just a too dangerous of a time to have your opinion, not even to roll your eyes at the following.
I think to myself, has it really come to that, where I can’t even voice my own opinion, and if liberals get their way I definetly won’t be able to, I will have no freedom of speech unless of course it’s the same drivel that comes out of their mouths everyday.
I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be in hiding, I don’t want to hide my beliefs because it’s not popular, because if I don’t whats that say about America now and what we stand for?
I told my dad when Obama speaks of unity, he really means conformity. No thank you Mr. President. I’m not a drone like everyone else, and it sickens me how everyone just flocks to whats popular and what the media tells them, or what celebrities believe. What a cult people follow but don’t even know.
Like some of you, I couldn’t even get on myspace, (yes, most of my friends are democrats) watch tv. But no matter where I went his face was plastered on something. Even when I’m working(retail) I see his face on tshirts, even when I’m reading a sports magazine, his face is there. It’s like I have no place to get peace. Well, I’m glad I found this site, maybe there is a haven for us, but, if we keep in hiding we won’t have it at all till it just disappears.
I’m young, and I feel insulted when they say this is the party for an old dying breed. Well, believe it or not there is a lot of young people that share my view and I hope my generation and everyone else stands up for what they believe in.
While I don’t share your enthusiasm Tom I admit that the optimism itself is a good thing. As we have witnessed of the last few years our economy is based on perception, mood if you will. The media has been all doom and gloom for the better part of the decade and so the economy has suffered. Granted the scandals, mismanagement and bailouts have contributed to this perception, I expect the media will change it’s tune and with the fostering of all this hope the economy will begin to rebound.
One thing many Americans need to understand is that this term is the honeymoon. Barak will be on his best behavior, or relatively so, in hopes of a second term. I believe much of his agenda driven work will be done secretively if at all. It is in this second term where a president would feel at liberty to do as they wish. We witnessed this with Bush as he proclaimed at the beginning of his second term that it was time to spend all that “political capital”. Political Capital is actually PC for public opinion. This is when the real risks and liberties are taken.
It is my hope that Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal will both throw their hats in the ring next election cycle.
Seeing how all the liberals suddenly love their country is actually a little sickening. It’s like a whiney five-year-old child who cries and screams how much he hates his parents when he has to eat his vegetables, then proclaims how they are the best parents in the world when it is time for desert.
Maybe understandable for a child, but Democrats are adults, and it’s just pathetic to see the same attitude in a grown up.

The left thinks the right is evil and definitely dangerous. The right thinks the left is silly and perhaps dangerous.
That explains the differing reactions to elections and attitudes about those in power.”
That also explains why the Right a loser today. Let’s review, I understand from the above what the left thinks, they think the Right is “evil an definitely dangerous”, but what the hell is the Right’s problem?
Silly? People that want to enlarge the tent of homosexuality, pervert your children with sex ed lessons that include FISTING and GOLDEN SHOWERS and the most you can muster is SILLY????? PERHAPS DANGEROUS???? They have been in open war against Jesus Christ while most of them have been lying and claiming to serve the same God that you do, but curiously support every single SIN that Jesus came to save us from! You’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, and lead astray. Evil people have slipped in the gate and are teaching your children perversion at every turn while you do NOTHING but check your stock portfolio! Ever see your children on MTV? Ever see them holding up their hands making the “devil horns” that kids are so fond of? Ever see them wearing clothes made by SATANISTS called “Affliction” with the skulls and dead images on them? Your children have been lured into satanic worship and are currently advertising their worship on their clothes and you think the left is SILLY and “Perhaps” dangerous. Talk about fiddling while Rome burns. IF you had realized the threat that OBama posed you could have “perhaps” fielded a candidate that was at least liked by HALF of his party! But noooo, because you think these things are “cyclical”, you lay down like dogs as this vile miscreant and fake Christian, re-funds the murder of babies oversees or enlarges the opportunity for sodomites to screw up the armed forces! PERHAPS DANGEROUS???? Man, buy a vowel and get a CLUE.

So did some of my college professors. They still don’t have any experience in running any office, let alone the Presidency.
Has he ever been in charge of anything? I have. I run my own business, successfully. I have executive experience, which O lacks.
I have compassion for the poor and underpriviledge as well; not by giving them a buck here and there, but give them food and clothing. And none of ANY of my associates are in jail or being endited.
Hell, by your standard, I’m almost qualify for the Presidency too.
I’m still trying to figure out what all this Obama-love is about. It’s finally occured to me what that poster we see everywhere reminds me of. Remember the movie poster for the “40-Year-Old Virgin” with Steve Carrell looking up in an innocent, adolescent way? That’s it! And it’s so surreal and unbelievable!
Are we living in a sitcom? An Academy Award Nomination for Best Comedy?
When will the show be over? Or better yet, when will it get out of theatres and go to video?
Although I voted for McCain, I am happy to see Barack Obama take the oath, and I genuinely wish him well. I think he’s a good man, but a typical politician – not the change agent that all the libs are falling over themselves about (The Daily Show’s comparison of Obama’s speech and Bush’s past speeches summed it up pretty well). I think the press is just ridiculous in their unbalanced reporting. If Bush had messed up the oath like Obama they would have been all over him. Listening to Keith Olberman last night almost made me gag (actually not too different from most nights). I wonder how many times he spanked the monkey during the inauguration?
Ah. That graphic is sooo stolen…
These people who try to sell the lie that both sides act the same conveniently forget what happened yesterday. It was over, and the spoiled little, whiny children had gotten their way, because people were tired of hearing them wet their pants and spew hatred.
But that wasn’t enough for these Nazis.
They sang a little song, Emanuel thumbed his nose at the President of the United States and Obama’s infantile, little Brownshirts threw shoes at the White House.
Obama’s cult members are the ones who dragged the senile and mentally challenged from their homes and forced them to vote for Obama. They are the thugs who shot at people in their homes, destroyed and stole property, set fires, fixed elections, lied to old people and more.
They are subhuman filth and while the rest of America seems content to roll over for them, rather than go through their tantrums and hearing their lies again, I intend to give them what they deserve.
In other words, what they gave us for the last six years, back down their lying throats, a thousandfold.
Ronald H Only if that was true, the part that he, O, ran his own presidential campaign. He had advisors who picked the people who ran his successful campaign. Try harder next time.
