The New York Post:

A White House “Alice in Wonderland” costume ball — put on by Johnny Depp and Hollywood director Tim Burton — proved to be a Mad-as-a-Hatter idea that was never made public for fear of a political backlash during hard economic times, according to a new tell-all.

“The Obamas,” by New York Times correspondent Jodi Kantor, tells of the first Halloween party the first couple feted at the White House in 2009. It was so over the top that “Star Wars” creator George Lucas sent the original Chewbacca to mingle with invited guests.

The book reveals how any official announcement of the glittering affair — coming at a time when Tea Party activists and voters furious over the lagging economy, 10-percent unemployment rate, bank bailouts and Obama’s health-care plan were staging protests — quickly vanished down the rabbit hole.

That was in October of 2009, five months prior to the film’s release in March of the following year. And yet, with over a hundred million on the line, the publicity-savvy Disney all but ignored an event that would’ve generated a ton of publicity towards the film and most certainly increased the all-important “awareness” studios crave most in the months leading up to the release of a tentpole such as this one.

The answer might lie in Disney’s history of putting partisan politics above shareholder profits. For instance, the studio spent $40 million on the 2006 miniseries “The Path to 9/11,” broadcast it only once to great ratings success, but has since refused to rerun it or even release the DVD. Why? Because Bill and Hillary Clinton are upset that the film exposed mistakes made during the Clinton Administration when it came to stopping Osama bin Laden.

But, you know, Hollywood’s money-driven, not political. It has to be true. The entertainment media told me so.

According to Real Clear Politics, Obama’s approval rating in late October of 2009 was above 51%. More importantly, the President wasn’t upside down with his disapproval higher than approval. So what harm could playing up a White House event do to the film? Of course, I ask that question as though we live in a sane world where Hollywood would ever care about offending half its customers. But even if we lived in a sane world, the question would still apply. No conservative I know would begrudge the studio putting on a party for the children of military personnel.

Obama or no Obama, Disney releasing and promoting publicity shots of a costumed Tim Burton and Johnny Depp delighting the children of our men and women in the military would’ve generated a ton of goodwill towards everyone involved and the film itself. However…

According to news reports and Google, Disney did next to nothing to play this event up.

Why?

Occam’s Razor. I think Disney’s a studio run by left-wing partisans who memory-holed the party for the same reasons I suspect the MSM did — to protect Obama from a public relations hit, especially one during the crucial days leading up to a crucial ObamaCare vote.

They’re all in bed together, and it is not a pretty sight.

Many have speculated (including me) that Sony, Bigelow, screenwriter Mark  Boal, and the White House all got into bed together to create a propaganda film that would hit theatres with the kind of exquisite timing that is never an accident. It’s no secret Sony, like the rest of Hollywood, is deep in the tank for President FailureTeleprompter, and this $40 to $70 million propaganda film would most certainly serve as an in-kind propaganda contribution  that delivered the kind of deus ex machina that can only be dreamed up in Hollywood. Yesterday, and for very good reason, the story turned once again when the Pentagon and CIA got involved.

Apparently, it’s not just us extreme right-wing Republicans who are concerned over the possibility that the White House might have given the studio and filmmakers classified information they weren’t cleared to receive:

[Republican Congressman Peter] King has expressed worries about the administration’s cooperation with Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and Kathryn Bigelow, director of the Oscar-winning picture “The Hurt Locker,” who is working on a movie about the hunt for bin Laden. In August King wrote the inspectors general of the Pentagon and CIA noting a New York Times column saying that Sony and Bigelow had been given “top-level access to the most classified mission in history.”

In his letter, King said that leaks of classified information related to the bin Laden raid had already resulted in the arrests of Pakistanis believed by Pakistan authorities to have assisted the CIA. Participation by the Pentagon and the CIA in making a film about the raid “is bound to increase such leaks, and undermine these organizations’ hard-won reputations as `quiet professionals,’” King said.

As a result, the Pentagon has started its own investigation, and the CIA is now re-examining its policies when it comes to dealing with Hollywood:

Did the Obama administration release classified information to Hollywood notables for a film about the operation that killed Osama bin Laden?

That’s a question Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.) wants answered.  And in response, the Pentagon’s inspector general has launched an investigation, King disclosed Thursday.

“We plan to begin subject investigation immediately,” Patricia A. Brannin, deputy inspector general for intelligence and special program assessments, wrote in a memo that King emailed to reporters.

At issue is whether the filmmakers — director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal, who both won Oscars for their 2009 Iraq war movie “The Hurt Locker” — were given access to classified information about a mission that remains shrouded in secrecy.  While newspapers and magazines have published detailed accounts about the raid, much remains unknown to all but a few. …

In addition to the Pentagon investigation, the CIA has decided to craft a written policy about how its public affairs division works with authors and filmmakers, the agency said in letter to King released Thursday.

Hollywood being wicked, anti-American leftists cranking out film after film to undermine our military in the War on Terror is bad enough, but if there was some kind of collusion where in exchange for  a sweet piece of bigscreen propaganda the Obama Administration compromised national security, that needs to be fully investigated and anyone found guilty needs to go to jail… forever.

After his non-recess recess appointment earlier this week, I put nothing past Obama when it comes to what he’ll do to win another term. As far as Hollywood, that treasonous industry sold out its country years ago. So this is par for the course.

After all, she’s been vocal on the subject for months now, and she’s clearly done enough field research to put the anti-bullying movement in high gear.

Perhaps that’s why she’s visiting the White House today to lend her expertise to Obama administration staffers on the subject. Who can’t identify with being ostracized for wearing an outfit made of meat to school?

The celebrity/Beltway nexus is a typically vapid affair, although in some cases the connection makes sense. it’s a fair bet actor Michael J. Fox has some wisdom to share regarding Parkinson’s Disease even if one doesn’t agree with his thoughts regarding stem cell research. He’s suffered from the condition for years and has been actively involved in finding a cure.

But what on Earth is Lady Gaga, whose main talent is being just outrageous enough to cut through the pop culture haze, doing mingling with serious minds on this issue?

The singer confessed she was once bullied, but so have plenty of other people. And while the thrust of her new foundation, Born This Way, will likely be noble (it officially opens in 2012) that hardly makes her the kind of expert who can illuminate minds on the matter.

But the Obama Administration needs its Hollywood connections, so perhaps it gave Gaga the green light to keep a key constituency happy.

I was walking through Lowe’s yesterday to buy a hammer and I saw a tool kit belt that wraps around the waist. I laughed fondly as I remembered that during rehearsals, to “get into character,” I wore one of those tool belts filled with tools. Maggie could fix anything: planes, toilets, dinner – with meat hunted by her own hand.

During the filming and post-production of that episode I was unhappy with the producers, Josh Brand and John Falsey. I had to re-record the dialogue for the scene where Rick’s coffin was revealed and they continuously cut away from my face. The satellite had fused to Rick’s body, so the coffin had pieces of metal coming out of it. I wanted to show some emotion revealing that Maggie was sad that Rick had died. Thus, I had a few tears, conjured by “method acting.” (My favorite actors were all “method actors” – Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Jessica Lange, even Marilyn Monroe.) John and Josh were desperately trying to keep the show in the Monday night “comedy” line-up so my performance had to be restructured via sound booths and editing rooms to be “funny.” Of course, I believed that “the self same well that holds our laughter also holds our tears,” to loosely quote Khalil Gibran but.. so goes the tango and artistry of teamwork.

I remember John Falsey called me after the filming of that episode and said, “We are a comedy! Write it down!” So, “dramedy” we were – part drama, part comedy. It was tough to win in a drama acting category because I was always “funny,” through the tears, (tears that I could slip in), while other “drama” actresses were having genuine meltdowns. Throughout the years, as I watched the clips of my fellow nominees sobbing, I knew I’d never win. Their characters were having huge, dramatic, emotional breakdowns. I didn’t care. I loved the show. I loved my character. I loved the cast. I loved the creators – Josh Brand and John Falsey. Josh and John believed in me and I will always treasure them, those years, and my groundbreaking character, Maggie O’Connell.

Now it is 2011, and there seems to be a correlation between the present descending satellite and the potential descent of America. I love America and all the promise for which she stands. I want her to survive. My friend, Brent Cooper, and I were recalling the Northern Exposure satellite episode today. He said, “You’ve gone from actress to activist.” I laughed, but it is true.

I am now an activist and I have never felt more urgent sense of passion and purpose. As the satellite is making a beeline for Earth it reminds me a bit of our situation in America. We feel the impending doom: faltering economy, strangling debt, high unemployment, disenchantment, terrorism beckoning on our doorstep and a president who has blinders on and only sees 2012. Satellite? What Satellite? Ignorance is not bliss.

We are at a huge crossroads in our country. As Jackie Gingrich Cushman says in her new book, The Essential American, “It’s the desire for liberty and freedom above security and safety,” that best represents the American spirit.

Ironically, the “entitlement Americans” who claim “security and safety” is their “right” are incapable of seeing the satellite that is going to crash and burn upon their indignation. The anomaly looming in the horizon is the collapse of our society as a whole when America can no longer pay her debts.

One thing our founding fathers knew was history, a subject that is considered irrelevant in our schools today. History, both in centuries past and decades past, proves that bad economies, high taxes, record breaking unemployment and incomprehensible debt lead to despotism and demise. Americans want both “liberty and freedom” and “security and safety.” Instead of Patrick Henry’s call, “Give me liberty or give me death!” the call of the “entitlement Americans” today is “Give me liberty and give me, give me!”

We can not have both. Our founding fathers wrote the words, ‘Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness,” with no guarantee of happiness only the pursuit of happiness. They also made it very clear that God gave us these rights and not government. Government can simply not withstand the demand of being “sugar daddy” to everyone. Liberty cannot withstand that demand.

So, as the satellite comes tumbling toward Earth, we are all on alert. We know that it is coming. Should it not be the same with our impending doom regarding our Republic? I remember reading, The Mandarines by Simone de Beauvoir. In the book there is a passage, when after World War I a French diplomat appeals to a French leader to reach out and help another country. The French leader looked at the diplomat and said, “Don’t you understand …we can’t even help ourselves.”

I read this over 20 years ago but it is a passage that has always stuck with me. If our country falters and tumbles from the weight of debt, how can she possibly help even her own people? This is so elementary that I cannot believe that the liberal elite and the “entitlement” contingency do not see this – the implosion of a force that is heading our way.

Claire Belinsky writes in her book, There Is No Alternative, Why Margaret Thatcher Matters, about leaders who can shape destiny based upon history, “Those who matter are able to master these historical forces..they are able to shift the forces into a different outcome.” Our forefather, Patrick Henry was one of these men. His biographer, William Wirt, describes Henry as, “a spirit fitted to raise the whirlwind, as well as to ride in it.”

Henry questions the colonists’ hesitancy to take on the British for fear of Britain’s strength and the enormity of the task, “Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance, by lying supinely on our back, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope.” The enormity of our task today: to bring back America to her basic thesis, to curb big government and entitlement mentalities, to educate her citizens, young and old, about the duties that imbue liberty, to demand an accountability regarding spending in Washington – to basically save America – is as daunting today as it was for the colonists to take on the biggest, most powerful country in the world, Britain. However, we must. We cannot continue to hug the “delusive phantom of hope.”

Who will accomplish this, if not the people? We must reclaim America’s promise, which is liberty, which is freedom from government and thus, the ability to pursue happiness – all on our own.

Actress tuned activists. I see the falling weight of misguided leadership. I recognize the impending doom. I want to be a woman of action, a patriot of action. I believe in Patrick Henry’s words, “Should he keep back his opinions, at a such a time, for fear of giving offense, he should consider himself guilty of treason towards his country..”

The Soviet Union ravenously fed on the terror we can find breathing beneath the Shostakovich Fifth Symphony. The nightmare is only there, however, and can only be perceived if we begin to understand the musical code with which Shostakovich is constructing an obligatory deception.

Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony is a lie?

How do you appease a terrorist, the homicidal Communist Joseph Stalin, while, at the same time being true to yourself and your calling as an artist?

With that challenge in mind, why would I ever come up with the title, Bringing America Home Again?

The history of Stalin’s Russia is vitally important as a measure of how far the Progressive New World Order has dragged America and Americans away from their original faith in individual freedom and individual responsibility.

The last four Presidents have steadily transformed a Democracy into a Progressive New World Order Oligarchy and from there into an increasingly centralized, world power not within Washington, D. C but woven and strengthened daily out of the United Nations. That international body’s increasingly bloated animosity toward the three thousand year old Judeo-Christian civilization, the culture out of which most of America’s fundamental values have evolved, is a matter of historical record.

However, President Obama is determined to question America’s self-image with his “fundamental transformation”:

We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.

Quite frankly, we are being dragged by this imperial vision of a New World Order into the undeniably Marxist vision of man as a manageable herd as versus a humanity with Judeo-Christian faith in the sacredness of the individual human being.

I now feel obliged to remind my readers of the obvious: Karl Marx and his writings are a great deal closer to both Josef Stalin and Mao Zedong than they are to the Holy Bible. With President Obama as a self-admitted Marxist and an avowed “secularist” when it comes to defining the soul of America, the Holy Bible and the entire Judeo-Christian Civilization appear increasingly irrelevant to the Obama Nation of America.

I recently examined my old hometown of New York City and its recent 9/11 Memorial Ceremony.

Clergy had been summarily excluded by Mayor Bloomberg and President Obama from an American memorial ceremony?

Are clergy somehow un-American?

From the President’s words cited above, one might certainly think so.

Clergy are “un-Progressive”!

A devout Marxist believes that religious faith is an “opiate” that the human race must replace with increasing dependence upon the opiate of centralized government and the spin-doctoring of Michael Bloomberg and President Barack Obama.

Is the President of the United States to be the only major spiritual leader we can depend on for guidance? He seemed to be the only one to quote scripture or invoke God’s name at the ceremony.

Yet some Americans, like former Ambassador John Bolton, seem to think that President Obama has neither a clear nor consistent vision. In the former Ambassador’s eyes, the President is “naïve”. Though Obama is clearly the fourth, Presidential nail in the prophecy of George H. W. Bush’s New World Order, the Ambassador doesn’t see a connection.

Ambassador Bolton’s appears totally out of touch with George H. W. Bush’s Progressive New World Order and its innermost circles, including the increasingly suspect, New World Order efforts of John Bolton’s onetime boss, George Jr.

Does the White House regularly lie to its United Nations’ Ambassador?

Misinform him so often that he’s made a regular arm of mainstream misinformation?

Particularly at this moment in American history?

Ambassador Bolton claims that President Obama has no coherent plan or strategy that supports both his domestic and foreign policies.

Really?!

Wiping his own mind clean of even its own intelligence, John Bolton writes this breathtaking sentence about the Obama administration’s conduct:

“But it is folly to look for rhyme and reason

(in it)

when there is neither.”

The President’s belief that America has no specific religious tradition and his dismissal of clergy at the 9/11 Ceremony show a pattern of considerable rhyme and reason.

The Marxist/Islamic alliances, which Ambassador Bolton refuses to recognize within the Obama Nation’s “Progressive” strategies, reveal a clear and calculated connection between President Obama’s Arab Spring and his Marxist economic policies being thrust on the United States.

Beginning the second segment of Maestro Thomas’ exegesis of the Shostakovich Fifth Symphony are a few but powerfully familiar measures from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

Beethoven, until the moment Napoleon Bonaparte declared himself an “Emperor”, had been a Bonapartiste, a devoted disciple of Napoleon’s dream of uniting Europe.

Shostakovich, particularly in his second and third symphonies, had shown himself a devoted child of the Communist Dream. When the Revolution began in 1917, Dimitri was only 11 years old.

How had Shostakovich put himself into such disgrace with the “authorities” that he feared for his life?

Stalin had attended a performance of the Shostakovich opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.

The dictator leader of the Soviets had walked out of the theater after the first act.

Then a second and literally life-and-death evaluation of that opera appeared in the official Communist newspaper, Pravda. It was a scathing indictment of both Shostakovich and his music.

Many said and many still say that it was Joseph Stalin himself who wrote the condemnation.

The Message had been sent!

Shostakovich had been thrown into such terror that he sometimes waited on the stairs of his apartment building for the KGB to show up for him. He didn’t want his loved ones to see him taken away.

The composer had cancelled his own Fourth Symphony shortly before its premiere performance for fear that what he had written was exactly what Stalin had criticized about Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.

This is when the export of Soviet propaganda and Stalin’s propagandists to the United States and the infiltration of the American performing arts began.

Stalin’s theory was: if you control a nation’s arts, you control the soul of that nation.

For the over eighty years that have passed since Stalin began his indoctrination of the Free World, the performing arts in America have been the main target of both Stalin’s policies and those of his still-devoted disciples.

Ever since then, the films and television series of Hollywood have been decidedly fed a Marxist and, in some cases, an actually Soviet bill of fare.

Tragically Hollywood has made the Far Left view of America its own perspective and the films arising from its studios and independent filmmakers mock, criticize and humiliate traditional American values.

No, America is not the Soviet Union yet and the Progressive New World Order isn’t undiluted Communism.

However, Barack Hussein Obama’s “fundamental transformation of the United States” and his Obama Nation has no other visible destination than a Marxist New World Order.

What will be the fanfare to the Progressive and Increasingly Tyrannical New World Order?

The very riots predicted by Progressive Mayor, Michael Bloomberg of New York and actually promoted by the deliberately failing prescriptions of Bloomberg’s fellow provocateur, President Obama.

What is the “fundamental transformation of the United States”?

Martial law.

With that as the objective of the entire Obama Nation, everything Obama has done makes perfect sense.

The idea here is to paint conservatives as prudes and hold tight to that narrative at all costs. The idea here is to pretend there was no legitimate reason for opposing Common’s White House invitation.

When the Left rose up to defend Common’s White House invite, they only focused on criticism of the rapper’s lyrics (which was silly). What they intentionally ignored and continue to ignore is Common’s 2005 statement opposing interracial relationships.

That kind of talk is indefensible unless, of course, you’re a Leftist. And most especially if the airing of such a thing will hurt a Democrat president.

This is why we call Jon Stewart and the MSM ‘Palace Guards.’

America’s increasingly far Left academia has always been “nudging” its way into power. The first great, 20^th Century landmark for these “enlightened despots”, as Voltaire described them, came when a professor of the ordinarily Left-leaning Harvard University, Dr. Henry Kissinger, found his way into the Oval Office of Republican President Richard Nixon.

The not-so-good-doctor seemed to have literally crawled inside the soul of this undeniably insecure but ingeniously manipulative politician, also known as Tricky Dick. Their administration, as we know, came to a rather disgraceful end.

However, Red China’s oldest American friend, Henry Kissinger, knows that his influence from deep connections with Beijing is now as strong as it ever was.

Why?

His “kind”, his “fraternity” from Harvard and the University of Chicago are back!

Above you see a decidedly self-confident, Presidential manipulator, Barack Obama, surrounded by two of his favorite academicians, Samantha Power and Cass Sunstein.

Rumor has it that all three would like Israel chastened if not utterly obliterated.

That, of course, is a rather crude estimate of the true intentions that might be gleaned from these glib geniuses.

These three are, however, the “enlightened” of the same “Progressively” despotic feather as Henry Kissinger.

How so?

They have clearly “broken away” from traditional “givens” or accepted points of view within the Judeo-Christian Civilization, and, as “fellow travelers”, seek an increasingly Marxist and “fundamentally New World Order transformation” of not merely the United States but the world and humanity as a whole.

That, in brief, is a definition of what Dr. Kissinger really meant by his infamously tested “real politik”.

The author, Benjamin Wallace-Wells, has a kind of Pulitzer Prize thoroughness in his efforts to explain both Sunstein’s transformative approach to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs and Sunstein’s involvement in such intentionally misty complexities as the carbon-emission threat to the environment.

The dreamy-eyed exchange between Obama and Sunstein, however, could very well support Sunstein’s certainty about human error and foibles.

The Socialist Objectives of the Obama Nation must, as Rahm Emanuel has pointed out, not only exploit all crises but make human weakness a permanent corner of the Sunstein equation for “Fundamental Change”.

My immediate observation, of course, is the moral oblivion which the Supreme Court hurtled all of America into with the Roe v Wade decision legalizing abortion.

America’s somnambulant response to legalized murder for the 38 years of Roe v Wade’s existence is quite a revelation of weakness on a homicidal level. This American weakness for legalized abortion, of course, is precisely what Cass Sunstein and indeed the entire Obama Nation see as something to build on.

What I call America’s moral blindness is, for the Obama Nation, the very open door through which they can administer a blitzkrieg “transformation of the United States”.

If Americans cannot see the cold-blooded murder involved in abortion, then what other legislation might the Czars of the Obama Nation slip by not only Congress but the American people as well?

Here, from the NY Times article, is a peek into the Sunstein team’s optimism about their “fundamental transformation of the United States of America:

“ …. in the real world, Sunstein and Thaler argue, people are subject to all sorts of biases and quirks. They also argue that this human quality, which some would call irrationality, can be predicted and — this is the controversial part — that if the social environment can be changed, people might be nudged into more rational behavior.”

Glenn Beck, of course, has been “all over” the Sunstein Agenda. “The most dangerous guy out there” is how Beck describes Sunstein.

Nudging the human race, America particularly, into decisions that “just must be made.”

The “Nudge” routine would almost be the “hook” for a situation comedy script if the Obama Nation weren’t also engaged in fiercer tactics and connected to organizations with violent reputations.

These “fellow travelers” in power need their “back-up”, a “fist” to go with an open hand and, of course, being “fellow travelers” they cannot depend yet upon the armed forces of their still-backward and unenlightened nation.

They say they will need a “citizen army”.

When you connect such a concept to worldwide Marxist affiliations and the International Communist Party, you have an ideological police force of the world.

What does Samantha Power’s “Responsibility to Protect” really mean if she and her “fellow travelers” are actually protecting not people but ideology?

What stands most formidably in the way of a Marxist ideology? The entire, millenniums-old, Judeo-Christian Civilization.

Judeo-Christianity is no longer an ideology. It is a two to five thousand year-old fact. That is certainly one thing that both Hitler and Stalin shared in common: their main enemy ended up being, yes, the entire Judeo-Christian Civilization. Rather than conquering Israel and Rome, both Nazism and Stalinism have been eternally branded as tyrannies.

Why does The Progressive New World Order think it has a better chance than Fascism and Soviet Communism did?

Will no one will see Karl Marx behind The New World Order’s increasingly Iron Curtain?

That would be like not seeing Henry Kissinger trying to hide behind Michelle Obama.

Both Kissinger and Marx have grown too fat and too famous for that.

Are the Marxist Trinity of Obama, Power and Sunstein fully aware of how influential the Holy Bible has, can and will be for centuries to come?

No, I don’t think so.

Somehow the entire, worldwide “Progressive” Movement feels that Karl Marx’s analysis of Judeo-Christianity as “yesterday’s news” will more than suffice to insure Nikita Khrushchev’s prophecy that Communism will “bury” America.

Of course, with the “Progressive” help of Americans in the White House, a great deal of damage to America and Americans can, indeed, be done.

Already has been inflicted actually.

The “back-up” or, as I prefer to call it, “the eternal fist” of the Judeo-Christian Civilization and its Holy Bible, however, will prove tenaciously un-burnable if not literally indestructible, both in History and in the hearts, minds and souls of the human race.

Marx’s Communist Manifesto, the likes of SEIU, the Black Panthers, the Progressive Trinity of Obama, Power and Sunstein, plus their Citizen Army? Will this be sufficient to erase America, let alone Communism’s most successful enemy, the Catholic Church? The Far Left’s hope is to invade and “nudge”, invade and “nudge”, invade and “nudge”? No one has ever liked a “Nudge” for that long.

As for the imperious dreams of Marx, Lenin, Stalin and Mao Zedong?

Red China is looking awfully strong these days.

However, the Judeo-Christian Civilization has so invaded and “nudged” the Communist Chinese that … well … their extravaganzas now look like a Radio City Music Hall creation in a film by Busby Berkeley.

Who “nudges” more successfully?

Daryl Hannah was arrested outside the White House by park police for refusing to move off sidewalk. The sit-in protested a planned oil pipeline from Canada to Texas.

The sit-in Tuesday involved dozens protesting the Keystone XL pipeline. It would go through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas to refineries in Houston and Port Arthur, Texas.

Before she was arrested, Hannah told The Associated Press the protesters want to be free from dependence on fossil fuels. The group calls for clean energy investments instead. Hannah says they hope President Barack Obama will not bow to oil lobbyists.

A Republican lawmaker from Kansas wants to prevent the administration from helping Sony make a move about the killing of Osama bin Laden.  

The Stop Subsidizing Hollywood Act introduced by Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.) would stop the Obama administration from spending taxpayer money to share information about the killing of bin Laden with Sony Pictures, which is looking to release a film about that event in October 2012. 

Jenkins said the bill, introduced on Friday, is necessary because the government has no role to play in helping the movie industry at a time of fiscal crisis.  

“In an era of 9 percent unemployment, trillion dollar deficits, credit downgrades, and record debt ceiling extensions it is unconscionable that tax payer dollars are being used to aid the Hollywood film industry in fact checking and script research,” Jenkins said. “American families have been forced to go through their budgets line by line and look for ways to tighten their belts, and it is time the federal government does the same.”

Sony, Bigelow and Boal have been given every opportunity to do the right thing and push the film’s release date into late December and out of the political arena. They have CHOSEN not to do so. Furthermore, they were the ones who chose to play politics with this film to begin with, not Rep. Jenkins and not anyone on the Right.

There’s nothing we would all like more than to enjoy a non-partisan, pro-American film about the killing of Osama bin Laden, nothing we would all like more than to anticipate the film we’ve been waiting ten years to see — the one where Hollywood finally takes our side in the War on Terror. But the decision has been made by the Hollywood Left to cynically use a key moment in our history and, worst of all, the bravery and heroism of our troops, as partisan political pawns.

As of right now, conservatives not only have the right to do everything within their power to bring down this film, they have an obligation.

If the filmmakers and studio want to play politics … let’s play.
