Morning Call Sheet: Streaming News, Ladies of the Right, Walking Dead, and a Gold Bikini

by John Nolte

One of the primary reasons we started the Morning Call Sheet was that it would allow us to promote contributors and right-of-center artists in a way that wouldn’t affect the editorial format of the overall site. This is a win-win for those looking for a way to get the word out and those of you looking for what’s out there in the world of popular entertainment culture that isn’t loaded with sucker punches.

In many ways, the Call Sheet will be a cyber-community bulletin board (among other things) where artist and audience can fine one another.

We encourage our readers to support these artists and we encourage those right-of-center artists out there to use the Call Sheet to get the word out about whatever it is they have going on.

My email is below.

–MEET THE “LADIES OF THE RIGHT”–

Our friend Sonja Schmidt and Patty Smith have teamed up for a two woman comedy show. Both have impressive backgrounds in performance and comedy, both are right-of-center politically, and both had the courage to come out of the ideological closet.

Undefeated Coming to Video on Demand, Pay-Per-View, ‘Special Edition’ DVD

by Hollywoodland

Santa Monica, Calif. – ARC Entertainment, the distributor of “The Undefeated,” the film about Gov. Sarah Palin’s rise from obscurity to national prominence, announced today that beginning on September 1st the film will be available to 75 million homes via Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View access through national and regional cable and satellite operators. The DVD will launch on October 4th and will be available at traditional and online retailers nationwide. ARC is estimating its initial unit shipment to be approximately 250,000 units. A “Special Edition” DVD will contain additional new content and will only be sold in Walmart stores. ARC will continue to expand the limited engagement theatrical release nationwide throughout August and September as demand across the country remains high.

Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of ARC Entertainment, said, “Since the film opened in select markets across the country on July 15th we have been inundated with requests from people wanting the film to be made available in their market. After methodically analyzing the most effective ways to bring this galvanizing film to the widest audience as soon as possible we have determined that continued limited theatrical distribution, Video-on-Demand, Pay-Per-View and DVD sales will be the best modalities by which to deliver this film as widely as possible. We have created partnerships with national cable, satellite and mass retailers to achieve our distribution goals.”

“This title is absolutely perfect for Video-on-Demand and Pay-Per-View backed by a traditional and significant marketing campaign. We are incredibly excited about having this film made available to the entire country earlier than expected,” said Glenn Bracken Evans, the film’s producer. “A traditional windowed release would not have allowed us to maximize viewership of this highly sought after film,” continued Evans. Jon Stewart Uses Maxed-Out Race Card Against Ground Zero Mosque Opponents

by John Nolte

Gee, Jon, and I thought the Race Card was maxed out?

First off, let’s congratulate Jon Stewart and other leftists who are currently vaunting their moral superiority over those of us opposed to the Ground Zero Mosque, and welcome them to a world where religious and property rights mean something.  “You broke your cherry!”

Stewart is certainly talented, but no amount of talent can overcome just how unfunny race-baiting and intellectual dishonesty is. In this first video, Stewart admits he doesn’t know if the Ground Zero Mosque Imam is as radical as advertised (No Google at Comedy Central?). But that doesn’t stop him from smearing mosque opponents as unreasonable — as portraying them as individuals who want to punish all Muslims for the sins of the 9/11 terrorists. This is an old rhetorical trick Stewart’s playing. When you can’t argue on the facts, you take your opponent’s argument to an extreme and try to debate it there:

Stewart: “Who knew the First Amendment had the same slogan as Century 21: location, location, location?”

Well, who knew the First Amendment right to free speech and peaceful protest came in second to freedom of religion when smug comedians say so? (more…)

A Clue for Megan Fox: Trashing Your Audience is a Bad Idea

by Pam Meister

Someone call the waaahmbulance: Megan Fox’s starring turn in the movie “Jennifer’s Body” didn’t do as well as she’d hoped and she’s looking for a scapegoat. Naturally, she turns to the unwashed masses in Middle America:

The actress tells The New York Times that her movie “Jennifer’s Body” tanked because “the movie is about a man-eating, cannibalistic lesbian cheerleader, and that pretty much eliminates middle America.”

Actually, Megan, that pretty much eliminates anyone with an ounce of taste. Here’s more on the movie’s plot via IMDB:

Nerdy, reserved bookworm Needy and arrogant, conceited cheerleader Jennifer are best friends, though they share little in common. They share even less in common when Jennifer mysteriously gains an appetite for human blood after a disastrous fire at a local bar. As Needy’s male classmates are steadily killed off in gruesome attacks, the young girl must uncover the truth behind her friend’s transformation and find a way to stop the bloodthirsty rampage before it reaches her own boyfriend Chip.

More on ‘The Goode Family’ – Lighten Up, Libs!

by Pam Meister

After seeing video trailers for Mike Judge’s new show The Goode Family online last week, I was looking forward to seeing the show. Who couldn’t appreciate jabs being taken at a vegan family who wanted to adopt an African baby to show how much they “care” but end up with a white South African baby and name him Ubuntu? (There’s an inside joke in there for computer geeks, which my husband got but I didn’t.) Whose poor dog, Che, also on a vegan diet, is so desperate for meat that he eats all the small animals in the neighborhood he can get his paws on? Who wonder “What would Al Gore do?” when Ubuntu wants his driver’s license even though driving cars and burning fuel is evil? It helped too that I liked Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill.

My interest was piqued even more after reading John Nolte’s post about the New York Times review of the show. Apparently, reviewer Ginia Bellafante had a hard time appreciating the foibles of a family who try so hard to be perfect in how they live and how they relate to their black neighbors that their lives become highly stressful.  To quote The Times: (more…)
