BigDawg Spotlight On: American Folk Blues Artist James Kole

by Lisa Mei Norton

We are often asked why we emphasize the fact that we promote conservative artists at BigDawg Music Mafia instead of encouraging artists to join and share non-political content and promoting them as artists period.  Our answer is always the same.  That is our mission — to showcase conservative artists who want to make a difference.  If not us, who?  If not now, when?

Just as the anti-war artists of the 60’s expressed their political views through music, so too are an increasing number of artists of the TEA Party movement who refuse to keep silent about the destruction of this great nation by many who ironically subscribed to those radical, anti-government views of the 60’s counterculture movement.

James Kole - American Folk Blues Artist

One such patriot artist, whose musical style is reminiscent of the folk music of the 60’s, but with a contemporary blues/rock twist, is American Folk Blues artist James Kole.

We have been fans of James Kole’s for over two years since first stumbling upon his YouTube channel, impressed not only by his positive, pro-America lyrics, but also by his professionally produced videos, unique musical and vocal style, and his captivating delivery.

James is no newcomer to patriotic-infused songwriting promoting individual liberty and love of country.  His 1998 full-length release, Liberty, offered listeners a glimpse of what was to come over the years and culminate into his 7th full-length album (released July 4th, 2010):  Songs For Freedom in which he sings about the American Revolution, Frederick Douglass, the Constitution, U.S. Sovereignty, current uncertain times, and much more.

Bootstrap Christian Film Community Does it Without Hollywood

by Dan Gifford

Conservative Christians get no respect in Hollywood. And because they don’t, they are making an increasing number of films that reflect their values in places where Obama says  “bitter” people “cling to guns or religion.” Yes, we’re talking fly-over land, that vast cultural wilderness America’s Christophobic intellectual elites must endure from 30,000 feet while traveling between the two coasts where intelligent life exists.

How hostile is Hollywood for fundamental Christians that they would be ramping up productions in places like rural Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and especially central Florida? Mel Damski, director of several David E. Kelly hits, told me Kelly hates all religion but especially despises Christians, and that he misses no opportunity to “put them in the pit” of one of his dramas. The mini drama between David Duchovny and Victoria Jackson is another example.

I had a small X Files part on an episode that guest starred Jackson. She is a well known conservative Christian who left the Saturday Night Live cast after six seasons of being ridiculed for her religion, she said. Having worked as an SNL extra during the early 90s, I can personally attest to the derision of her by many on the show. But back to X Files. (more…)

My Sarah Palin Experience

by Victoria Jackson

SearchlightCrowd-Email
Searchlight, NV March 27, 2010

My friend Bonnie asked me to drive with her to Searchlight, NV  for the Tea Party Express Kickoff where Sarah Palin was going to speak.  I said, “Yes!”  Then, I started thinking about reality.  I would need to pay a dog sitter and a teenager sitter.  My daughter couldn’t come with me because she was winning an award at the 168 Film Festival in Glendale – all the more reason for me to stay home. Then, I would have to sit in a car for ten hours round-trip. I hate sitting. I don’t travel unless I’m getting paid.  Tea Parties don’t pay.  Of course, I attend them for one purpose only – to save my country.  But, it helps if there’s an added incentive, like a free T shirt or meeting Sarah Palin!  But, if I was in a crowd of thousands there would be little chance I would meet Sarah.  Suddenly I was invited to be one of the speakers at the Searchlight event!  YES!  This would ensure my private moment with Sarah, so I said YES!

I finished reading her book so I would know what to say to her when I met her. She was the “me” I could have been if I had made different choices, and if fate had…you know, made me Alaskan.  We had so much in common.  But, I have a feeling everyone feels that way because way over 10,000 people were there waiting in the dry, windy desert along with me, just to get “to touch the hem of her garment.”  That’s a Biblical reference.   (more…)

(Applause. The air is titillating.  The mood rambunctious.  The atmosphere tense.  Over the loud speaker we hear, “3, 2, 1 and …”)

Joy:  Hello, Victoria.  So, I hear you’re a Tea Partier!  (Sarcastic smile.  Eyes roll.)

Victoria:  Oh, well…

Joy:  I suppose you like Sarah Palin!  (Sarcastic smile.  Eyes roll.)

Victoria:  Oh, well, I love her, she is so…

Joy:  She is so dumb!  (Sarcastic smile.  Eyes roll.)

Victoria:  No, I don’t think that…

Joy:  Just like George Bush.  He was an idiot!  (Sarcastic smile.  Eyes roll.)  (more…)
