Daily Call Sheet: Lepers and India Crybaby, Studio System Treated Women Better, and Streaming News

HOLLYWOOD’S NEWEST CRYBABIES: LEPERSAND INDIA

It doesn’t bother me when crybabies crybaby. That’s what crybabies do, especially GLAAD and CAIR — two of the biggest, fascist crybabies in the history of crybabying.

What bothers me is that the politically correct cowards that run Hollywood only listen to certain crybabies. Southerners, Christians, stay-at-home-moms, Republicans, and pro-lifers continue to take hellacious beatings in all things pop culture. Everyone else is hands off at the first sound of a crybaby.

Those of us on the right can take a joke better than anyone; it’s being singled out by Hollywood cowards who pose as “edgy” that’s galling — the double standard.  Take us back to the good old days of “Blazing Saddles,” and we’ll never complain again.

It’s not satire when you’re singled out. It’s bigotry.

AMAZON PONDERS NEW CHALLENGE TO NETFLIX IN STREAMING MARKET

There’s a bigger story here than just this:

Ever since Netflix first alienated its consumers last summer with a price hike – ruining a perfect record of consumer satisfaction – the market seemed to open for new challengers. That door swung a bit wider after Netflix and Starz failed to agree to terms, further limiting the service’s movie offerings.

At the moment, Amazon has deals with the likes of CBS, Fox, Disney and NBCUniversal.

Hollywood is fighting streaming harder than they would ever fight terrorists and yet you have two of the biggest entertainment retailers on the planet — Netflix and Amazon — expanding this service. It was only a matter of time before someone stepped in to challenge Netflix Streaming, and Amazon is the perfect choice.

Can CW Comedy ‘Poseurs’ Escape GLAAD’s Glare?

by Christian Toto

“Less Than Perfect” star Sara Rue is coming back to television in a new CW series dubbed “Poseurs.”

That’s assuming the PC police won’t prevent the show from airing in the first place.

Sara Rue

Rue’s project has her playing a down on her luck woman who decides to “marry” her female pal in order to maintain “her swanky New York  co-op,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sounds like “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” turned on its sitcom head. So far, so good. Gender-based comedies can succeed, witness how the ABC sitcom “Bosom Buddies” launched a young Tom Hanks into the stratosphere.

But the folks behind “Poseurs” better be careful. If one script paints gay marriage in a negative light or tweaks the lesbian lifestyle it could mean another protest from GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).

Comedian Louis C.K. – Tracy Morgan’s Anti-Gay Rant Should Have Been a Teachable Moment

by Hollywoodland

Louis C.K. will tell you he doesn’t have an anti-gay thought in his head. But the red-headed comic says the culture lost a teachable moment when Tracy Morgan went on an apology tour for his hateful rant against homosexuals.

C.K., currently promoting his self-financed comedy special, told Nightline that he wished MorganGate had gone down much differently than it did.

louis-ck

But C.K. also feels that Morgan’s critics did themselves a disservice by being quick to attack Morgan instead of opening up a dialogue about the subject.

“The opportunity that was lost was for the gay community to ask Tracy, ‘Why did you say that? What was your dad like? What is being a man like to you?’ It could have been the starting point of a conversation that might have actually made a difference in the way people feel about homophobia,” C.K. said.

“But to say, you can’t say that, and that’s hate speech, and to go on a ’sorry’ tour, that’s a waste of time to me. I think it was a wasted opportunity.”

GLAAD Sends Brett Ratner To Re-Education Camp

by John Nolte

Keep in mind that all this hoopla, phony outrage, and McCarthyism is over the following:

“Rehearsal is for fags.”

And now, because artistic freedom is dead in Hollywood, Brett Ratner is going to get the Tracy Morgan treatment — a THREE YEAR re-education tour:

Following meetings with GLAAD as well as outrage from community members and allies, Ratner issued an apology and today resigned as producer of the 84yth Annual Academy Awards. GLAAD and Ratner are working to convene public discussions featuring leaders in the entertainment industry about promoting fair and accurate inclusions of LGBT people and stories. The discussions will address anti-LGBT jokes and slurs in films and on television today as well as their trickle-down effect into popular culture. The first event will take place in coming weeks with additional discussions to take place over the next three years. Additional details to follow.

“When we sat down with Brett today, he seemed very sincere in his desire to use this experience as a way to begin speaking out against anti-gay language in popular culture,” said Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs and Communications at GLAAD. “We believe his resignation is just the first step and will be announcing a series of concrete actions with Brett in coming days and weeks.”

Actually, this is McCarthyism on steroids. During the witch hunts of the 1950s, at least some fought back and spoke out, but today no one in the industry has the courage to to even squeak in protest. They’re either silent or on board. And someday, if this great Republic of ours survives long enough, honest people will write the history of this era of Hollywood and it will be covered in shame.

Like I said yesterday, this fascistic push has nothing to do with sensitivity or anti-gay bullying or concern for others. Every day, Hollywood defames and roars with bigoted pride against Christians, conservatives and Southerners. This isn’t about bigotry; this is about control.

Comedian David Koechner: Scene Stealer for Hire

by Christian Toto

David Koechner didn’t become a superstar from his stint on ‘Saturday Night Live’ like fellow alums Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase and Will Ferrell. After all, Koechner only lasted one season on the sketch show and didn’t forge any indelible characters, the kind Hollywood desperately tries to spin into comedy franchises.

Instead, Koechner emerged as one of Hollywood’s more trustworthy comic supporting players in films like ‘Anchorman,’ ‘Extract’ and ‘Thank You for Smoking.’

David KoechnerHe may not see his name above the marquee, but chances are if he’s co-starring in a comedy it’ll contain a few extra laughs. Together with fellow comic actors Joe Lo Truglio (‘I Love You, Man’), Thomas Lennon (‘Bad Teacher’) and Ken Jeong (‘The Hangover’), Koechner is one reason why the state of modern movie comedies is as robust as it is.

Under Fire for ‘Mong’ Jokes, Ricky Gervais Attacks Fellow Comedians For Not Supporting Him

by John Nolte

Comedians defending other comedians when they’re under attack for being insensitive…

What a novel idea.

First, some background:

Did Ricky Gervais cross the line by being his usual, I-could-care-less-what-people-think-about-me self?

The British comedian evoked online ire after posting a series of tweets referencing “mongs,” once a slur directed at people with Down’s Syndrome, and sometimes accompanying them with photos of him making silly faces. “Two mongs don’t make a right,” read one tweet. “Night night monglets,” he told his followers on Oct. 14.

Criticism came quick. Comedians and Down’s Syndrome advocacy groups have called out Gervais for reviving the word, but he claims “mong” now means something else.

“Well done everyone who pointed out that Mong USED to be a derogatory term for DS,” he wrote, referring to Down’s Syndrome. “Gay USED to mean happy. Words change. Get over it.”

GLAAD’s Fascist Crusade Targets Chelsea Handler

by John Nolte

Trust me, I am no Chelsea Hander fan, but GLAAD’s fascist war against humor and Hollywood rolling over most every time they crybaby over something, is an appalling assault on free and artistic speech.

THR:

E! Entertainment talk show host and comedian, Chelsea Handler, may have a problem on her hands after making several jokes about Dancing with the Stars competitor Chaz Bono on her show, Chelsea Lately, Tuesday night. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) issued a request for Chandler’s apology on Wednesday.

“Last night’s episode of Chelsea Lately repeatedly made a mockery of Chaz Bono’s transgender identity when discussing the transgender advocate’s upcoming appearance on Dancing With the Stars,” writes GLAAD’s Associate Director of Entertainment Media, Matt Kane.

Kane points out that the “transphobic humor” started in Handler’s opening remarks and continued later in the show with her roundtable comedians, Fortune Feimster, Bill Bellamy, and Jo Koy.

“The Dancing with the Stars cast has been announced,” Handler joked in her opening remarks. “It includes Chaz Bono, otherwise known as Chastity Bono [laughs] before she got her penis [laughs].”

Ricky Gervais ‘Christ’ Photo Isn’t Controversial. It’s Just Bad Art.

by Lawrence Meyers

So Ricky Gervais did a photo shoot and asked a bunch of questions over at HuffPo.  Here’s my take on one particular image and then, since he asks a few questions that are somewhat provocative, I’ll take a stab at answering them.

The photo of him posing as a Christ-figure is worth addressing because it is most likely to generate controversy for obvious reasons.  My first reaction was, frankly, disappointment.  That’s the best he can do?  I happen to think Mr. Gervais is hilarious, and his funniest material is usually the most provocative, but this one just fell flat.

After all, how many times are we going to be subjected to some knock-off of the Christ pose, which is obviously intended to inflame Christians?  In short, it’s been done to death.  Christians are an easy target and it doesn’t take much imagination, or cajones, to take pot shots at them.  In America, it’s perfectly fine to hate on the Christians.

If Mr. Gervais had real cajones, he would have created an image that is offensive to Jews.  Even though anti-Semitism runs deep and wide in this country, and often goes unrecognized and unreported, it’s still not so easy to openly hate on the Jews.   There are enough organizations and individuals that will defend us against anything remotely offensive, but the social price is high enough that Mr. Gervais is too smart to risk his career.

Nor is he likely to provide an image offensive to militant Muslims.  As John Nolte pointed out, they will literally take your head off if they don’t get the joke.  Not only is Mr. Gervais likely fond of his head, Muslims are presently in the company of the P.C. Police.  He’d likely to go P.C. jail for taking a swipe in that territory.

Again? Tracy Morgan Under Fire for ‘Retarded’ Jokes

by Hollywoodland

From James Hibberd at EW:

Tracy Morgan has landed in hot water yet again, this time for a stand-up show during which he mocked “retarded” kids and “cripples.”

Performing at a New York comedy club on Saturday, Morgan told his audience not to “mess with women who have retarded kids” because “them young retarded males is strong … they’re strong like chimps.” Morgan also talked about hooking up with a “cripple” with a prosthetic arm. The crowd reportedly responded with groans and “uh-oh.”

The Arc, an advocacy group for people with disabilities, is calling on Morgan to apologize. “Tracy Morgan should apologize immediately,” The Arc CEO Peter Berns told EW in a statement. “This quote is far too offensive to be excused as comedy, and it is very hurtful to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.” (more…)

Tracy Morgan’s Humiliating GLAAD Re-Education Tour … The Video!

by John Nolte

This Orwellian moment brought to you by GLAAD and their fascistic Leftist enablers so resembles Winston Smith’s final confession in “1984,” it seems too obvious to even reference it. The video below is a little blurry, so it’s impossible to tell if Tracy Morgan’s blinking some kind of S.O.S…. If he has any pride, he’s blinking some closer to f-u-c-k-a-l-l-o-f-y-o-u:

—–

Could anything be more un-American than a comedian being trotted around the country to apologize for his … comedy?

Talk about chilling free speech.

Obviously the old saying about not agreeing with but still fighting to the death to defend someone’s speech is all but dead on the Left, especially where the sentiment should be most true … in the world of entertainment.

Tracy Morgan: Hollywood’s New Production Code Worse Than the Old One

by John Nolte

When the story of Tracy Morgan’s “anti-gay” comedy rant originally broke I wrote snarked that we wouldn’t hear anything more about it because Morgan was inoculated. After all, he’s openly hated-on Sarah Palin and did not direct “The Passion of the Christ.” That was my mistake, though not necessarily my fault. Because the pecking order of preciousness keeps changing to suit whatever the Left’s cause du jour is, I had forgotten that as of now “sexuality” trumps being both “black” and “liberal” in the PC-Hierarchy Of Those We Must Never Offend. So now it actually makes perfect sense that Morgan has been sent on a humiliating and very public re-education tour in order to save his career.

Today, we receives yet another disturbing and frightening report that reveals just how little our Entertainment Overlords value the First Amendment and the true concept of artistic freedom:

Tracy Morgan met with a group of homeless gay teens and families who have lost loved ones to hate crimes Friday in New York City. The gathering was organized by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) following homophobic remarks made by the 30 Rock star during a June 3 show in Nashville, Tenn.

Morgan has since apologized for his remarks and announced Friday that he’ll return to Tennessee on June 21 to ask pardon from those offended when he said he’d “pull out a knife and stab” his son if he were gay. …

Morgan’s stage remarks caused an uproar, with NBC Entertainment chief Robert Greenblatt and Tina Fey both issuing statements in response to them. “I speak for NBC and myself personally when I say we do not condone hate or violence of any kind and I am pleased to see Tracy Morgan apologizing for recent homophobic remarks in his standup appearance,” Greenblatt said.

Fey also said she was happy her co-star apologized saying “I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville” in a statement to THR.

If you read the full piece, you’ll see that comedian Chris Rock stood up for Morgan (kind of) and that Wanda Sykes bizarrely blames the State of Tennessee for all of this. Sadly, Morgan’s “30 Rock” co-stars, Alec Baldwin and  Cheyenne Jackson both joined Tina Fey in throwing Morgan under the bus. And by doing so, these artistic cowards have only encouraged the guardians of Hollywood’s New PC-Production Code to keep on keeping on.  How ironic — but in a fascist kind of way.

Selective Outrage: L.A. Times Lashes Out at Tracy Morgan, Gives Palin-H8ing Comics Pass After Pass

by Alexander Marlow

To understand if a person or group is on the left or the right, look no further than what outrages them.  If you’re offended by how much tax revenue is squandered year after year, you’re probably on the right; if you are ticked off at the “rich” for not paying their “fair share,” you lean left.  If you have a strong urge to kill or capture evildoers around the world, you’re likely conservative; but if you’re irate that detainees might be water-boarded, safe money is you’re lefty.  If you drive home in your Toyota Prius to pop a Big Pharma-produced Lexapro that gives you just enough vitality to take your ungrateful kids to the Starbucks for a Java Chip Frappuccino®… only to lecture them on the evils of the corporations once you get there, there’s a good chance you’re left-wing.  But if you love capitalism… you get my point.

What inspires your ire tips your hand–politically speaking–and a sanctimonious editorial on Tracy Morgan in yesterday’s Los Angeles Times tells you all you need to know about the staff of SoCal’s leading paper.

For those of you who dropped out of society for the past week, the synopsis is that during a stand-up comedy routine in Nashville, Morgan, of “SNL” and “30 Rock” fame, joked that he would stab his son if he used a “gay voice.”  Word got out and all hell broke loose.  The twitterverse was outraged, celebrities clamored to condemn the comment, and Morgan eventually delivered the obligatory pandering over-apology replete with a commitment to partner with America’s most ironically named advocacy organization: GLAAD.

The story is a social justice cliché.

The courageous editors at the Los Angeles Times joined the fray yesterday, unloading a bold op-ed stating Morgan had crossed the line: (more…)

New Hollywood Production Code: Leftist Reeducation of Tracy Morgan Marches On

by AWR Hawkins

By now I’m sure we’re all familiar with the story – Tracy Morgan did some crude jokes about homosexuals during a standup routine in Nashville, TN, and as a result he’s facing a backlash that probably made him think his career was imploding. The dreaded speech police of the left, those people who are highly tolerant of everything except what they won’t tolerate, have risen up en masse because Morgan dared speak his mind.

Consider the irony: hard left celebrities – some of whom are openly homosexual – who have staked their claim on being able to speak their minds and otherwise express themselves, are now actually coming after Morgan because he did just that.

Of course that’s not surprising. After all, they are liberals. (Thus they have one standard for themselves, and another standard to which they hold others.)

But what is surprising is that Morgan cowered down to them, apologized, and had a conference call with GLAAD wherein he basically recanted his whole Nashville standup routine. He even promised to take part in GLAAD’s upcoming “Amplify Your Voice” campaign “to combat anti-LGBT bullying.”

Hollywood’s New Production Code: Tracy Morgan Enters Re-education Camp

by Jeffrey Jena

That chill wind Hollywood liberal Tim Robbins warned about is indeed blowing and every stand-up comic and performance artist should be worried. However, it isn’t coming from some frustrated, prudish Christian right winger. It’s coming from the open-minded, diversity embracing, tolerant other side of the aisle. Free speech is just a concept that was rejected at the pitch meeting. Artistic expression isn’t for the less enlightened. Tracy Morgan is now officially under reeducation by the Hollywood left.

In case you missed it, here is the back story: Tracy Morgan, stand-up comic and one of the stars of the NBC hit sit-com “30 Rock” was busted doing a stand-up routine at the Ryman Theater in Nashville. Unlike back when St. Lenny was being busted the cops didn’t rush the stage and drag Mr. Morgan off. No, a single audience member got offended and reported Mr. Morgan to “the authorities” through Facebook.

The verboten topic was lack of empathy for homosexuality. The “authorities” are the liberal media. A gay man in the audience, Kevin Rogers took offence and wound up on CNN chatting about how horrible the show was.

I wasn’t there and I doubt there is a recording or transcript but from reports the “bit” was pretty raw. What I have read and seen on the Internet is that Mr. Morgan was doing a rant where he imagined his son came home and announced he was gay. Mr. Morgan said if that happened he would stab him.

‘30 Rock’ Star Morgan ‘Jokes’ About Stabbing Gay Son to Death

by John Nolte

Tracy Morgan has since apologized and this is likely the last we’ll about this story because Morgan didn’t direct “The Passion of the Christ” and has attacked Sarah Palin with sexual slurs.

The Wrap:

Tracy Morgan has apologized for a homophobic rant during a performance in Nashville in which he joked about stabbing his son to death if he were gay and talked to him in a sterotypically gay voice.

“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville,” Morgan said in a statement to the Huffington Post.

“I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others,” he added. “While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”

Conservative TV Star Calls Michelle Obama a ‘MILF’ and ‘Perfect Masturbatory Material’

by John Nolte

Of course my headline is a lie. No such thing happened. But imagine if it had. Thankfully for “30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan, one benefit of being a twisted, sexually obsessed Hollywood Leftist is that you can go as full perv in public as frequently as you want on Governor Sarah Palin without facing the sort of criticism you would if my headline were true:

Days after TNT issued a statement apologizing for the comedian’s crass remark about the former vice presidential candidate during a live Inside the NBA broadcast, he took another swipe at her on E!’s SAG red carpet special.

After chatting with E! host Guliana Rancic, he shouted, “Sarah Palin, you’e (sic)  the hottest MILF in the world!”

Rancic looked confused, prompting Morgan to shout out again, “She’s a MILF!”

Where are the feministas? Isn’t Tina Fey, Morgan’s “30 Rock” co-star, something of a feminist? Asking questions like that is so funny.

But what we really have here is another NEW TONE victory, another crass, crude, unfunny attention-whore speaking his filthy mind truthfully so the rest of us know just what a sleazy creep he really is.

REVIEW: ‘Cop Out’ Lives Down to Its Title

by Carl Kozlowski

Rarely has a movie so perfectly matched its title as the new buddy-cop movie “Cop Out,” starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan in the first film that veteran director Kevin Smith (“Clerks,” “Dogma”) has ever made from another writer’s script. Allow me to clarify that the words “another writer’s script” are used loosely at best, as they are the only way to distinguish that Smith wasn’t responsible for the concept’s crimes against humanity and, particularly, film buffs.

No, the script is by Robb and Mark Cullen – a fact that should force them to immediately enroll in remedial writing classes. From the ridiculously over-wrought opening scenes in which Brooklyn cop Morgan is allowed to obnoxiously improvise his way through dozens of lines from other, far better movies while conducting a prisoner interrogation that would make Jack Bauer of “24” look like a model of temperamental restraint, to the mostly generic shootout scenes on down through the lamely written villains and “plot” that’s interchangeable with literally dozens of other cop movies, “Cop Out” is one big, sadly underachieving mess.

cop_out

The film follows the exploits of Jimmy Monroe (Willis) and Paul Hodges (Morgan) as they try to bring down a Latino robbery ring led by Poh Boy (Guillermo Diaz, in an embarrassing performance). The gang appears to operate with utter impunity from inside a Catholic church, where Poh Boy is first seen praying in the front pew before his flunkies bring in a member whom Poh Boy orders executed. The bullet through the head comes right on the steps of the altar, after Poh Boy says, “Forgive me Father, for I am about to sin” and then follows up the murder by standing with arms extended under the Crucifix that hangs above the altar. In other words, we’re getting the most subtle portrayal of religious imagery since Smith directed “Dogma.” And since there’s an organist playing cliched church music in the background the whole time, who the heck is running this parish that allows gang meetings and murders amid prayer and music hour? Ten Films I’m Excited to See In 2010

by Kurt Schlichter

The payoff for sitting through a dozen craptacular releases is that one movie where you actually say, “Damn, that was worth the $11.50 and the kidney I spent to see it.”  As a modern moviegoer, you must be an eternal optimist.  You must hope against hope that the trailer you liked didn’t contain every single good scene and funny joke in the movie, and that the reviewer who raved isn’t covering up some pinko agenda that’ll make you choke out on your Goobers.

made_at_www_txt2pic_com

You have to believe that out there somewhere is an action movie director who knows what a tripod is.  That there is a young lead actor who has never starred in a CW television series about beautiful but sensitive teenage male models with supernatural powers.  That there is a comedy screenwriter who can imagine a “funny” situation not involving a bodily fluid.  That Michael Cera will one day play a different character.

In that spirit, a spirit of Pollyannaish hope in the face of overwhelming evidence indicating that Hollywood’s product will almost certainly continue to demonstrate that evolution is a two-way street, I present ten movies that are coming within the next six months that might actually be good – or at least not make me throw things at the screen and slap around the ushers. Why Were the Emmys Not ‘Racist’?

by John Ziegler

I am no fan of awards shows. To me, it is one of the strongest proofs of the weakness of our society that the endeavor to which we give the most prominent and glamorous honors is that of movie and television “acting” (or, to paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, “Saying what someone else told you to say”).

eee

I also abhor false or frivolous claims of racism. Of course, according to the media, the end of this scourge was supposed to be of the many dividends of making Barack Obama President, but those of us on the right certainly know this has so far turned out to be one of many lies we were told during the 2008 campaign.  (more…)
