‘Essential Killing’ Review: A Republican Plays a Jihadist!?

by Zachary Leeman

Come one! Come all! See Vincent Gallo feeding off an actual lactating woman! See him run through the snow barefoot! See him … well, see him play a terrorist named Mohammed run from the U.S. military and be degraded down to his most animal instincts in order to survive.

Essential Killing,” available now via Video on Demand services as well as iTunes and Vudu, follows a Taliban fighter named Mohammed who is captured by U.S. military forces and transported to Europe where he escapes and goes on the run. While evading his captors, he must do what is necessary to survive, including taking life, which we graphically witness beforehand in the film when he kills some private contractors with an RPG.

It comes as no surprise that Hollywood would provide us with a story about the Afghanistan war that is from the point of view of a terrorist. I’m sure liberal after liberal would argue he is an “enemy combatant” and is justified in his killings. Political correctness aside, we witness him murder private contractors and then later murder more people. He’s a terrorist, no matter what the been-in-college-too-long-and-stay-up-too-late-watching-Jon-Stewart types would have anyone believe.

Why would we want to watch a movie where the protagonist is a terrorist? Well, we wouldn’t. But using the word “protagonist” here is a bit of a stretch. Sure, Mohammed is the main character, but there seems to be no attempt to make us identify with him, which is a relief. Instead, the film looks on its own events without much investment or insight. The camera is neutral. We are simply witnessing what is happening. But, hence comes the film’s fatal flaw. Without investment, what point is there in watching this ordeal? Mohammed is forced into some pretty horrid conditions and ordeals, but we could care less whether he lives or dies, so we watch the film with little more than semi-queasy fascination.

‘Captain Jihad’: Ex-Terrorist Transformed Into Comic Book Hero

by Hollywoodland

Associated Press:

The real life adventures of former al-Qaida-linked militant Nasir Abas have become a new comic book in Indonesia, chronicling his transformation from foe to invaluable ally in the fight against terrorism.

The story of the soft-spoken, seemingly mild-mannered 42-year-old — recognized by strangers on the streets and even asked for the occasional autograph — is well-known in the world’s most populous Muslim country.

He went from helping train Muslim extremists who carried out some of Southeast Asia’s deadliest attacks, including the 2002 Bali bombings, to informing police about the inner-workings of the Jemaah Islamiyah network.

He’s also joined a government program to convince convicted terrorists that killing unarmed civilians in the name of their faith is wrong.

“I want children to learn from my experience,” Abas said of the colorful 137-page comic “I Found the Meaning of Jihad,” which appears in bookstores Friday and will be handed out at some schools and libraries.

Exclusive Excerpt: Andrew Klavan’s ‘The Final Hour’ Part One

by Andrew Klavan

Ed. Note: This is the first of three excerpts that will post over next three days. ”The Final Hour” is available at Amazon.

The Homelanders series is about a kid named Charlie West – a good kid, who goes to sleep in his own bed one night and wakes up strapped to a chair being tortured by Islamo-fascist terrorists.  He manages to make a run for it – only to find that he’s also wanted by the police for murder.  For the first three novels in the series, he’s been on the run from both the jihadis and the cops, trying to find out what happened to his life before someone kills him or puts him behind bars.

The Final Hour  is the fourth and last installment in the series.  As it begins, Charlie has got most of the answers he needs, but the police have got him.  He’s been thrown into a very tough prison called Abingdon, where it’s a toss-up whether Islamist thugs or Nazis are going to have the pleasure of killing him first…

 Chapter One

Abingdon

Most people have to die to get to hell.  I took a shortcut.

I was in Abingdon State Prison.  Locked away for a murder I didn’t commit.  Waiting for the men who were coming to kill me.  With nowhere to run.

It was the worst thing that had ever happened to me.

I’d been there for two weeks.  Two weeks of smothering boredom and strangling fear.  When I was locked in my cell, the minutes seemed to lie like dead men, to decay like dead men—so slowly you could barely tell it was happening.  When I was out in the exercise yard or in the cafeteria or in the showers, there was just the fear, the waiting.  Waiting for the killers to make good their threat, the words one of them had whispered in my ear as I stood in the dinner line one night:

You’re already dead, West.  You just don’t know it yet.

Alone in my cell, I stared at the tan wall.  I felt a black despair surrounding me, closing in on me.  I did everything I could to fight it.  I did push-ups.  I read my Bible.  I prayed.  The prayer gave me some comfort, some relief.

‘Color Purple’ Author Alice Walker: Israel and America are Terrorist States

by Hollywoodland

Foreign Policy:

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker will join the flotilla of ships next week that will try to break Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. She says the goal is to bring supplies and raise awareness of the situation there. Last May, during a similar attempt by activists, Israel raided six ships. On one, clashes broke out and Israeli commandos killed nine people.

Foreign Policy reached the author of The Color Purple in Greece, where she is preparing for her departure.

Foreign Policy: Why are you taking part in the flotilla mission?

Alice Walker: In 2009, I was in Gaza, just after Operation Cast Lead, and I saw the incredible damage and devastation. I have a good understanding of what’s on the ground there and how the water system was destroyed and the sewage system. I saw that the ministries had been bombed, and the hospitals had been bombed, and the schools. I sat for a good part of a morning in the rubble of the American school, and it just was so painful because we as Americans pay so much of our taxes for this kind of weaponry that was used. On a more sort of mature grandmotherly level I feel that as an elder it is up to me and others like me — other elders, other mature adults — to look at situations like this and bring to them whatever understanding and wisdom we might have gained in our fairly long lifetimes, witnessing and being a part of struggles against oppression. …

FP: Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations said the stated goal of “humanitarian assistance” was a false pretext for your mission — and it’s actually designed to serve an extremist political agenda, and that many of the groups participating in the mission maintain ties with extremist and terrorist organizations, including Hamas. Your reaction?

Sucker Punch Squad Review: Terrorists Attack America in ‘Source Code’

by John Nolte

—–

Below the fold is an email from a completely reliable source who has seen the final cut of the upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal terrorist thriller “Source Code.” After a look some time ago, my source forwarded the email below but asked, for very good reason, to remain anonymous. Now that the publicity for the film is ginning up (the release date is April 1st), this is a good time for a Sucker Punch Squad review. I would also like to point out that running anonymous reviews is nothing new. Ain’t It Cool News lives and dies by them and they’re not alone.

**WARNING**

This email below is as full and complete a spoiler as there is, it completely unspools ”Source Code’s” plot and central mystery…

As with all of our SPS reviews, those of you who don’t want the film spoiled – DO NOT read further. I also suggest you do not read the comments of this post as the discussion is likely to give much away.

Wikileaks: Enemies of the State

by Greg Gutfeld

So as you know, Wikileaks has posted a crapload of secret military reports about the Afghan war, including covert operations against Taliban figures. They claim their goal is to reveal “unethical behavior,” by the government and corporations.

Wikileaks-founder-Julian--006

On their website they write “All governments can benefit from increased scrutiny by the world community, as well as their own people.”

This is pure bullpoop, to use the scientific term.

The fact is, their goal is to only “expose” people they don’t like – meaning the United States military – and get worldwide props for it.

The head of Wikiliks, Julian Assange would argue that their role is to shine a “light on the everyday brutality …of war.” But of course, he’s sympathetic only to those we are fighting against. He says he wants to help “people who are vulnerable. And I enjoy crushing bastards.” (more…)

Daily Gut: The Mathematics of Terror

by Greg Gutfeld

So I was never very good at word problems, but here’s a simple brain teaser even an idiot like me can solve. What’s worth saving: thousands of innocent people, or one evil jackass?

The answer….

It’s a trick question, and unicorns rule.

terrorist-2

But if you asked a British judge, he would choose the evil jackass.

This week, a tribunal ruled that the leader of an al-Qaeda terrorist cell that tried to blow up British citizens won’t be deported – because then his human rights would be violated. He wasn’t charged with anything, so he’s free to go, but not home – because he may get roughed up by Pakistan’s security services.

Now, the judge made this call despite the fact that Abid Naseer still poses a deadly threat. And here lies the comedy: Justice Mitting said that even though it would be “conducive to the public good that [Naseer] should be deported,” the risk of him being tortured back home was just too great. ‘Terrorism’ Exists Only In Your Mind

by Steven Crowder

I’ve got to be honest, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of a man blowing up his johnson isn’t that of a “bona fide threat.” When I think of the damage that could have actually been carried out however, I get chills down my spine.  Then I realize that I shouldn’t be sitting on the office ice-bucket.  I still don’t really see how calling the “War on Terror” to an “Overseas Contingency Operation” will make us any safer from people hell-bent on our destruction but then again… I’m just silly like that!

Daily Gut: Backlash Against the Backlash

by Greg Gutfeld

And that’s the drill: concern over crimes that have never happened, as opposed to the terror that has.

wonidal08

So, denying the role militant Islam played in the Fort Hood atrocity is like staring at a shark bite and thinking, “bicycle.”

When a fundamentalist kills thirteen innocent people while shouting “allahu akbar,” Islam isn’t just a small player – it’s got a starring role. And now that U.S. intelligence admits Hasan tried to contact al Qaeda, it should make it increasingly hard for anyone to say otherwise.

I say it “should,” but it won’t.

Look at the news.

Over at Time, thoughtful types speculate over a “secondary trauma” that could have driven Hasan to kill. Never mind terror – one news network tells us we should focus more on “a backlash against Muslim soldiers.” On a major website, they want us to ponder the “next McVeigh.” And our very own Homeland Security secretary says she’s hard at work preventing “a possible wave of anti-Muslim sentiment.” (more…)

The Stoning Of Team Hollywood

by John T. Simpson

The crime is complete. Judgment has been passed. The killing stones are in hand. As per the harsh stoning penal code of Iran’s Islamist thugocracy (for however long that lasts) where the crime took place, my stones are not so big as to kill right away, not so small you can’t call them stones. And I’m winding up like Nolan Ryan. Feel free to pick up a stone of your own. But wait for it!

And let me make this perfectly clear, even if they do say Jehovah!

Sentence must be read before being carried out. And unlike Soraya M., the board members of the Asylum of Motion Picture Airheads and Stooges will deserve every rock that’s thrown their way. I also believe that, in light of events in Iran today, the following commentary will stand out in much starker prominence than it did when I first started reporting on them in early March, when Team Oscar first set off for the Unfriendly Skies of Islamist Iran. Terror Pictures, Torture Pictures: Follow Up

by Ari David

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Subject: Declassified Water Boarding Photos. Is it torture? You decide.

A citizen of Siam (Thailand) was recently captured on American soil with trace amounts of an unknown chemical agent. Due to homeland security policy, the foreign national was examined. The trace elements seemed to contain a high level of ammonia felinas, a chemical the EPA recently classified as a toxic greenhouse gas in its vapor state and an eye inflamitant (sp?) in its solid state.

After initial traces were found, the foreign national then distributed a large amount of ammonia felinas into the bed of an American citizen who called in a haz-mat squad and department of Homeland Security (DHO) personnel to apprehend the foreign national and interrogate her for more information about the offense.

These are the pictures of the interrogation and imprisonment of the foreign national. Did DHO torture the suspect? What did DHO and Nancy Pelosi know and when did they know it? You will have to decide.

WARNING! The pictures you are about to see of this incident are brutal: (more…)

Why is Hollywood Silent on Roxana Saberi?

by John T. Simpson

I see a great story in Roxana Saberi. Don’t you? A can’t fail, high-concept, four-quadrant script with a unique storyline. In fact, I’d expect a bidding war no less severe and cutthroat for the rights to Roxana’s story as that for Lone Survivor. You know. A MARIE in Iran meets MISSING kinda thing.

A young and beautiful former Miss North Dakota and reporter for the BBC and NPR, among others, falsely arrested by misogynist Iran and tagged with a series of escalating charges, from buying wine to reporting with expired credentials to espionage, charges even Roxana’s lawyer has not officially seen to date, but upon which Ms. Saberi was just sentenced to eight years in the Iranian Hell of Evin prison in a one-day kangaroo court trial. Coercion was also involved, including a threat to kill her.

Any questions as to who and what we’re really dealing with here now? (more…)
