From the Associated Press:

The world’s highest-grossing film and one of the most awarded TV shows are also some of the greenest productions around.

“Avatar” and “30 Rock” were among the winners of the 2010 Environmental Media Association awards on Saturday night, which recognized individuals, organizations and productions that help increase public awareness of environmental issues.

The awards were presented at an eco-friendly ceremony at Warner Bros. Studios that featured organic food and compostable dinnerware. Actors Olivia Munn and Jason Ritter hosted the event, which was sponsored by one of Hollywood’s favorite green-mobiles, Toyota Prius.

Other productions recognized for spreading a green message were the documentary “Gasland” and TV shows “Bones,” “Handy Manny,” “Living With Ed” and “Lights, Camera, Take Action! Backstage With Disney’s Friends for Change.” (more…)

Daily Gut: God is Ted Turner

by Greg Gutfeld

So, as usual, I was at the gym working my quads when, on the TV in front of me, Ted Turner popped up on his own network, to be interviewed by one of his own employees. The questions posed were relentless, as the interviewer took no prisoners.

Na. I kid. It was fluffier than cotton candy made of unicorn farts. But no matter – Turner still managed to come off as a first class chucklebum.

In the interview he told Poppy Harlow (best damn name in news, by the way), that God may not only be behind the mammoth oil spill, but also the deadly coal mine disasters. Check it out, check it outers:

Eight Great Movies ‘For’ Thanksgiving

by Kurt Schlichter

Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday.  Sure, Canada and a couple other nations have adopted their own weird versions of it too, but the notion of a nation setting aside a day to give thanks for its blessings could only arise in a nation that has been so abundantly blessed.  In its land, its people and its animating spirit, America has much to be thankful for even in a time of war, economic blight, and a government that too often seems to see its blessings as curses and its greatest strengths as flaws.

–

But America’s abundance does not apply to movies about Thanksgiving.  Certainly some exist, but if you review a list of movies about Thanksgiving, the sad fact is that there are very few good ones.  Many are PC retellings of the original Thanksgiving story – one guess as to who the villains are (Hint:  It’s the dudes with buckles on their hats).  Others are tiresome melodramas about “quirky” families that reaffirm their bonds over plates of turkey, with “quirky” — meaning “annoying.”  (more…)

I knew Jane Fonda’s blog would be a treasure-trove of fun information!

Last night was the first preview for “33 Variations” at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, and to celebrate her triumphant return to the Great White Way, Blog-erella posted pics of all of the very, very important people who came to see and support her.  I suggest you check it out and look at the pics…  It is a veritable “Jurassic Park” of feminist raptors!
