Janeane Garofalo’s Meltdown: Christian Racists Wrapping Themselves In Flag Violates Separation of Church and State

by AWR Hawkins

On June 25, the A.V. Club posted an interview with comedian Janeane Garofalo. It was a fairly substantial piece in which the interviewer, Sean O’Neal, asked about everything from Garofalo’s stand-up routine, to her political outrage, to her criticisms of Tea Parties, and matters touching on religion.

Not surprisingly, the self-loathing Garofalo was moderately introspective before going out of her way to insult every aspect of traditional American life she could.

I think those of you who’ve read the interview will agree with me when I say that Garofalo has some serious problems. Not necessarily because she aimed her criticism at historically conservative matters, but because many of her answers were simply irrational.

For example, early in the interview, after O’Neal asked her if she was “ready to laugh again” now that “the Bush administration” was gone, Garofalo replied that the Obama administration isn’t that great, that the media is “getting even worse,” that the “the teabag racists [are] adding insult to injury,” that the Obama administration is disappointing, and that the election of 2000 was stolen, in that order. And her answers never really got clearer. (more…)

Princess Leia Found Her Darth Vader: It’s You and Me

by Warner Todd Huston

Well, she’s a former alcoholic, drug addict, washed up actor, shock therapy patient (no, really) and one-time princess to the universe, but now Carrie “Princess Leia” Fisher can add one more calumny to her long list of off-kilter, personality deficits: she’s a “teabagger” hater. So, she’s got that going for her, which is nice.

Hawking another one of those prosaic celebrity tell-alls, Fisher spoke to the folks at the entertainment site PopEater.com and when the subject of Obama and the Tea Party movement came up, the one-time heartthrob of nerds everywhere didn’t hold back. They are all “racists” she said.

PoEater.com asked Fisher if she had met President Obama; she hadn’t but wanted to. And then they asked the leading question of the day: “Do you think Tea Party is just people who are pissed that there is an African American president?”

Warming to the presented theme, Fisher took the bait at warp speed. (more…)

Lonewolf Diaries: Media Gives Sean Penn a ‘Rectal Cancer’ Pass

by Steven Crowder

“You know, do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah, you know, but I’m not going to spend a lot of energy on it.” – Sean Penn (when addressing his detractors)

No, I’m not making it up, you can even view the video here. O’Reilly, feel free to examine his body language, though to be fair, there isn’t much of a body to work with. For those too lazy to watch the video, let me recap it for you: **Spoiler alert!** Sean Penn has decided to take the life-plunge and go full-retard. Honestly, I don’t even know what to say anymore. Clearly, his statement was made in the poorest taste possible. Even more appalling however, is that the media doesn’t seem upset about these remarks in the slightest.

LoneWolf

Is it just me, or do the “outrageous” quotes from Limbaugh, Coulter, and Beck that send the mainstream-media into a tizzy pale in comparison to the vitriolic hatred of Penn?

If Sean Penn were to tell his detractors to take a hike, that would be fine. If he suggested that they jump off a bridge, I’d be cool with that. But to describe in vivid detail, a torturous, agonizing death (one from which many cancer-sufferers were likely suffering while watching the interview from their hospital beds) in which his detractors should perish, is evil, pure and simple. The worst part about it is that we all know Sean Penn isn’t quick enough to think on his feet, which leaves no doubt that the man had spent “a lot of energy on it” in order to craft the graphic mental imagery beforehand. What a sick, twisted, vulgar, knee-high little minikin. (more…)

Retraction Request: Roger Ebert

by Retracto, the Correction Alpaca

Roger Ebert has been on our radar since we noticed his twitter tirades against Sarah Palin and “teabaggers” last week.  We have identified yet another tweet we would like him to retract:

ebert msm teabaggers

We have established that we differ on the last sentence, but his claim he did not know that “teabaggers” is a pornographic term until the MSM (mainstream media) told him is provably false.  We know it’s false because in 1998, Prof. Ebert reviewed a film containing this scene (NSFW):

The above clip is from the John Waters’ film “Pecker” starring Edward Furlong.  Not only did Ebert review the film, but he acknowledged the ”tea-bagging” scene in his review.

Retraction Request: Roger Ebert

by Retracto, the Correction Alpaca

**Update 2/11, 11:54 PM PST: Ebert thus far refusing to retract.**

As Big Hollywood readers know, Roger Ebert’s foray into the political realm via twitter had a major setback this week: articles from Pam Meister and John Nolte prompted him to tweet he would suspend usage of the word “teabagger.” Onward and upward!  Or not…

Two hours ago from the time this post was written, Ebert tweeted:

ebert palinThe link is to an article which was cross-posted at the Huffington Post. Problem is, the Huffington Post version of the article had been previously corrected:

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post misstated the color of a bracelet Sarah Palin wore during a Tea Party appearance. Palin’s bracelet was not black, as was reported by several news outlets, and is not meant to memorialize her son Track Palin, but rather to honor his service, according to Herobracelets.org.

Professor Ebert spread misinformation to impugn Sarah Palin after it had been debunked at, of all sites, the Huffington Post.  We ask him to publicly retract this statement via twitter.

‘Teabaggers’: Roger Ebert Trashes His Own Fans (and Palin) on Twitter

by Pam Meister

If you follow a movie critic on Twitter, chances are you follow him because you admire his ability to critique the many offerings of Hollywood. Unfortunately, if you follow Roger Ebert, you also get endless tirades on greedy corporate fatcats, ”nutjob Teabaggers,” and how dumb Sarah Palin is.

Ebert is, like many liberals, showing his true colors – and they ain’t pretty. His obsession with Sarah Palin and Tea Partiers provides the perfect example. He spent ample time Tweeting about the recent Tea Party Convention, where Sarah Palin was a featured speaker and – gasp – was paid $100,000 for her appearance (which he must now know that she pledged to donate to other candidates and causes).

When Roger Ebert Didn’t Trash His Fans With Pornographic Slurs

Ebert makes a number of references to how much Palin was being paid by both the Tea Party Convention and Fox News - a curious fixation considering he built his long and storied career by discussing the work of screenwriters, directors, actors and actresses – many of whom get paid millions of dollars a pop, as do the ”corporate fatcats” at the studios who back these films.

But here, Ebert goes above and beyond the pale, managing to crassly insult both Palin and the Tea Party attendees by saying: (more…)

‘Law and Order’ Trashes ACORN Videos

by Michael S. Rulle Jr.

Dick Wolf has fallen from the heights as a writer on “Hill Street Blues,” a supervising producer of “Miami Vice” and the creator/producer of the once-excellent “Law and Order” trilogy.  The flagship of the “Law and Order” series is “Law and Order,” the two other shows being “SVU” (Special Victims Unit) and “CI”(Criminal Intent). Perhaps 20 years is too long for any series, but “Law and Order” has devolved into the cheapest form of left-wing paranoid delusion. It is so obvious, it gives left-wing propaganda a bad name. Maybe Karl Rove planted a mole.  I now watch it for its comedic satirical value, as one would watch “Saturday Night Live.”

The last episode was “Fed.” It’s a story about an ACORN-like community organizing group called “Rights Alliance.” The founder of the Rights Alliance has a conservative infiltrator murdered to “cover up a cover-up.” The cover up is an affair the founder was having with one of its members. The “cover up of the cover-up” was the money being paid by the founder to his mistress’s husband to keep the affair quiet. The right-wing infiltrator was murdered because he had been secretly video taping a sting he was arranging unrelated to the affair–clearly meant to be reminiscent of the O’Keefe/Giles real life ACORN investigation. The founder feared this tape would open the organization up to scrutiny, thus exposing his affair and the subsequent monetary extortion to his girlfriend’s husband. We are not supposed to be shedding too many tears for our murder victim, given he was “tricking a few dumb kids in an ambush video.” (more…)

It’s Gut Check Time, Ms. Couric

by Andrew Breitbart

This week’s Washington Times column:

Now that White House “Green Jobs Czar” Van Jones has resigned, what’s next?

Inevitably, the American mainstream media – ABC, NBC, CBS, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, et al – must be held to account for sitting on the sidelines as this major story kept building without them, went viral on YouTube, and then became so large that a key appointee of President Obama was forced to step down.

But with their decision to ignore the Jones story, they may have actually done Mr. Obama far more harm than good: Who vetted this guy? How did he get past the FBI? What did he say, and how did he answer the infamous seven-page questionnaire that all Obama appointees were required to fill out? Inquiring Freedom of Information Act minds want to know.

For most people in this country, the resignation was the first they had heard of Van Jones. For this sin of journalistic omission, there’s institutional media blame. Bias is too tame a word for the utter shamelessness on display: Only Republican scandals – real and imagined – matter. (more…)

Wanda Sykes: Limbaugh Had It Coming; Still Loves Prez Who Opposes Same-Sex Marriage

by John Nolte

At this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Wanda Sykes labeled Rush Limbaugh a terrorist and “joked” about her desire to see his kidneys fail. Not only does she not regret wishing the talk show host dead, in an interview with Metro Weekly (via: NewsBusters) she says in so many words that Limbaugh started it:

METRO WEEKLY: Do you ever worry about stepping out of bounds, about doing a joke that’s gone too far?

SYKES:I don’t worry about it. My barometer is that I don’t want to be mean spirited – just to attack someone for the sake of doing it. If you started it, I have a right to go after you. If you did something, I can go after you. But I want it to be about what you did and not just a personal attack or something.

MW: Which is where Rush Limbaugh comes in. You leveled several vicious – and I would agree in his case completely earned – jokes in his direction at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. You got some flak in the press for it. Looking back, do you regret saying those things about Limbaugh? (more…)
