Pork Flu: H1N1 Offers Harrowing Preview of ObamaCare

by Brian Ross

Long-time listener, first-time blogger…

Back in April, Vice President Biden uttered dire warnings about catching Swine Flu in subways and commercial airplanes.  Per the usual pattern, the White House quickly apologized for “Amtrak Joe’s” remarks.  But now, just a few months later, the President also has declared a national emergency.  The H1N1 is spreading, and instead of 120 million expected doses, only 11 million shipped last week. In a few weeks, the vaccine may become widely available, but it hasn’t yet.  Even the Obama children reportedly haven’t received the vaccine (although I hope they get immunized if that’s what their family decides).

Personally, I think the Swine Flu hysteria is a bit over-hyped.  But on the other hand, I’d rather not get sick if I can avoid it.  This year is particularly important for my family because my wife is pregnant with identical twins.  That type of pregnancy comes with risks already, and the H1N1 can be rough on expectant mothers.  So, after doing our research, we decided she would get immunized at the first opportunity, which was this past week.  In the process, we saw one possible future outcome of health care “reform” – rationing.  (more…)

The Bill Maher Meltdown

by Big Hollywood

We’ll let others debate the medical aspects of this, but Maher’s obviously not used to not being adored by the New York Times or leftist guests like Alec Baldwin and Chris Matthews, and seeing the smug/cocky knocked out him as he plays defense, rambling on as his guests squirm uncomfortably makes for an interesting five minutes.

The Days of Swine and Moses

by Moxie

A lot has happened in fourteen days — since Friday, the 24th of April — when the wires started buzzing 24/7 about the “Swine Flu.”

Oh wait, my bad. Now it’s the much more politically correct, H1N1 (Dems can’t offend the porcine population, they might need Porky Pig or pro-choice Miss Piggy to vote in 2010 and 2012).

In the meanwhile, a lot of stories haven’t been covered nearly enough outside of blogs and Fox News. Oddly, the vast majority of these stories seem to be things Obama God, Jr. wants to keep quiet. Here’s a not so exhaustive list: (more…)

Swine Flu, Fences and Farces

by Chris Burgard

I just saw Sen. Joe Lieberman on Fox News. He wanted to explore the possibility of closing off the Southern Border with Mexico as a safety precaution while the US got a handle on the Swine Flu situation. The World Health Organization had just upped the health threat to 5 out of a possible 6. Vice President Joe Biden was on national television telling America that he would not let his family travel on an airplane. However, the Obama administration would not even entertain the idea of discussing border closure.

Could that possibly have anything to do with the fact that today Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid, Patrick Leahy and President Obama are steaming full speed ahead with a new push for comprehensive immigration reform? Sen. Lieberman expressed his hope that DHS Secretary Napolitano would at least keep the idea on her radar if the situation turned into a pandemic. (more…)

What if President Obama Were a Republican?

by John T. Simpson

In my Big Hollywood post of April 27th, I decried the media’s acting as a cheerleading fourth branch of government, in which the MSM has not only assumed a Dear Leader-like reverence and awe for our new president, but attacks any and all critics with slander, ridicule, and even intimidation, and discounts any real concerns by the public as right wing extremist rabble-rousing and racism.

Given my love of true reporting and Woodward and Bernstein-like investigative journalism, which is really nowhere to be found in this Messianic Media Age of Obama, it was a very depressing piece to write. But after the recent flyover of New York City by Air Force One and F-16 fighter jets, which sent half of the Big Apple fleeing for their lives, it occurred to me.

How would the Left report the news if Obama were a Republican, i.e. an Uncle Tom, as many on the Left call now-GOP Chairman Michael Steele? Eureka! That’s it! See, it’s one thing for me to point out the obvious, as I did in my media slam yesterday. But what if we walked GOP President Obama’s media coverage through the mirror darkly, as was SOP for President Bush?

NOW we’re gonna have some fun! (more…)

The Crisis of Crises

by Gary Graham

Now it’s the swine flu.  People are running in the streets, scared, screaming, in total panic.  Oh, no, wait – sorry, that was downtown New York City the other day when the President’s Air Force One 747 buzzed Manhattan and set off a wave of urban terror amongst city-dwellers; who well remember the true calamity of that September morning seven-and-a-half years ago.  But it was a beautiful day for a $328 thousand dollar photo-op for the President’s website.  So New Yorkers should understand and be tolerant; even though the citizens on the ground weren’t alerted in advance of the stunt, not even Mayor Bloomberg.

Hey, stuff happens.  Yes we can.

No, it’s the Swine Flu which is the new crisis-in-the-making and it’s quickly becoming the Crisis du Jour.  Texas Governor Rick Perry declared ‘a Disaster’ in his state after a two-yr-old boy tragically died after returning from Mexico.  Seems a bit of an overreaction, but maybe not.  It’s shaping up to be a pandemic of epic proportions, for as of this writing, ninety-one cases of Swine Flu have already been diagnosed in this country.  Ninety-one.  At this rate, in a week, there may be, literally, several hundred outbreaks reported.

In a nation of 300 million. (more…)
