‘Green Zone’ Brings to Cinematic Life All the Left’s Desperate Lies About Iraq

by Leigh Scott

In the comments to Big Hollywood’s recent post about the box office catastrophe that is “The Green Zone,” one frequent poster, and noted leftist, gave us a “teachable moment.”

In a nutshell, this poster said that the antithesis to “The Green Zone,” and diatribes of that ilk, would be some dim witted, cheer leading, Michael Bay style action movie where the Arabs are sneering villains and the American G.I.’s are square jawed pretty boys out to save the world.

green_zone_movie_poster_matt_damon_01

Where does one begin?

His post reinforces the primary myth that drives all debate in our country. The central conceit is that leftist ideology is “complex,” “educated,” “nuanced” etc. Conservative and libertarian ideology is “simplistic,” “black and white,” and often times driven by superstitious religious beliefs and not “hard facts and science.” To suppose that the “conservative” version of “The Green Zone” is a movie like 1986’s “Delta Force” misses the point…big time.

As a quick side note, Menahem Golan’s “Delta Force” kicks ass. I recommend it highly.

What is silly about this narrative, especially in the discussion of “The Green Zone” is that it not only knocks conservative ideas, principals, and factual evidence down a few pegs, but it elevates leftist ideas far beyond their merit. (more…)

Daily Gut: Flying the American Flag in Haiti

by Greg Gutfeld

So as you know, many countries have set up camp to in Haiti help those recovering from the devastating earthquake. And at these camps, they are flying their flags. Only one country isn’t – and it’s the country that has done more to help Haiti – and the world in general – than any place else in the history of histories.

Of course that’s us.

obama-pledge-large

According to the Army Times, veterans and servicemembers are pissed. They realize, like everyone else, that the US should be proud to fly the flag…anywhere, for that matter. After all, the US is a good place, filled with good people with big hearts and generous resources. It’s not like we’re Belgium.

(I kid the Belgians.)

Well, according to the Obama Administration, raising the US flag will make us look like bad guys. The U.S. government’s Haiti Joint Information Center, says: “We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery.” (more…)

‘Will and Grace’ Star: Leno ‘Insane’ for Appealing to Red State Viewers

by Christian Toto

Megan Mullally isn’t happy to see a late night host reach out to the other half of the country.

Liberals already have David Letterman, Jon Stewart, George Lopez, Stephen Colbert and countless others on their side.  But that’s not enough for Mullally, the two-time Emmy winner and “W&G” scene stealer.

She recently blasted former Gov. Sarah Palin’s stand-up comedy debut on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” at movieline.com, mocking both Leno’s comedy bits and his attempt to woo conservative audiences.

“Could it be any more bald-faced that he’s going after the red states? It’s insane. It’s just right out there, full on … amazing. And she was wearing jeans [note: said with a drawn out snarl]. ‘I’m gonna wear denim! I’m gonna dress it down!’”

Sounds insane, all right. Why would the host of a popular late night show give a platform to a gorgeous, charismatic politician who appeals to a wide swath of viewers?

Sell Out: Jay-Z Loses Credibility For a Seat in the White House Situation Room

by J.C. Arenas

The president recently granted Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z and his wife, R&B diva Beyonce Knowles, an unusual up close and personal tour of the White House’s Situation Room. While the issue at hand regarding the room is one of impropriety, the budding relationship between the most powerful man in the world and hip-hop’s potential first billionaire, is one that should receive further scrutiny.

Jay-Z has been a huge supporter of the president’s since March of 2008, and recently declared that Britain needs its own Obama to cure its nation’s ills. Unfortunately, he—along with the majority of the Black community—has put blind faith in the president even though his political ideology and the America he intends to create in his image, completely dispels his belief that “Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly”.

First, Obama has been the most pro-abortion, pro-infanticide president in this nation’s history. As a legislator, Obama supported infanticide on a number of occasions, and as president he’s signed several pieces of abortion legislation including a repeal of the Mexico City Policy, which prohibited government funding to be provided to overseas abortion providers. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Black women have 37% of this nation’s abortions, and since the passing of Roe v. Wade, nearly 20,000,000 Black babies have been denied the God-given right to life. (more…)

Weighing the Promise of Health Care and Finding it Wanting

by Joseph C. Phillips

Speaking on ABC’s “This Week”, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi commented, “I think everybody wants affordable health care for all Americans. They know that this will take courage. It took courage to pass Social Security. It took courage to pass Medicare. And many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill.”

obamacare15

There is that word again. What exactly does affordable mean? The left tosses the word about but never bothers to define exactly what they mean by affordable. It could mean anything and everything and no doubt it will. Affordable is a political term that is unassociated with actual costs, only addresses price and means, “you pay according to the amount of political capital you have.” For instance if you belong to the SEIU you pay less than if you didn’t. But I digress.

I dare say that the only reason it takes courage to pass Obamacare is because a majority of Americans oppose it. According to a recent CNN poll only 25% of Americans want congress to pass this healthcare bill. It is particularly telling that the new left continues to depict the 75% of Americans that oppose their efforts to nationalize healthcare (which is the end game) as ignoble, uncompassionate, ignorant racists. More annoying is that they portray themselves as visionary, compassionate champions of good. (more…)

On The Waterfront!

Hmmm …

As Hamlet says, mortality “must give us pause”.

Therefore, “Hmmmm ….. “

On what must be my tenth viewing of that American masterpiece, I realized how tragically prophetic it has proven to be.

Marlon-brando

What inspired Elia Kazan  and Budd Schulberg to collaborate in recording what is still The Great American Tragedy?

On The Waterfront is clearly a heroic drama, not a tragedy, with a thrillingly courageous victory for its hero in the end.

What makes it a possible tragedy now?

The testimony Kazan gave to the House Un-American Activities Committee, naming members of the American Communist Party with which he had participated in meetings, not only branded him as a “stool pigeon”, stigmatized him like Brando’s Terry Malloy in On The Waterfront, but, in addition, has grown over the years to carry a tragic foresight within it. Matt Damon’s Upcoming ‘Green Zone’ a Bush-Bash-Athon

by John Nolte

matt-damon

The lead for this story might be Matt Damon’s heartbroken disappointment over Obama’s inability to strip away our health care as the millionaire actor holds on to his, but the news about “Green Zone” — which hits theatres March 12th — is the more interesting part:

It’s hard to think of a movie that’d play better in the Obama White House screening room than Matt Damon’s new Iraq War thriller, “Green Zone,” in which the Oscar-winner adroitly portrays a soldier fighting to expose the Bush administration’s weapons of mass destruction deception. …

Damon … vouches that “the people who worked on ‘Green Zone’ come from all across the political spectrum.”

His character, Roy Miller, is based on real-life Army chief warrant officer, Richard (Monty) Gonzales, whose Mobile Exploitation Team was charged with finding the WMDs during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

“Monty was a Republican – he’d voted for Bush,” Damon told us at Nobu 57 after the movie’s Cinema Society premiere. “He went to Iraq with the absolute conviction he was going to find the WMDs.”

Makes sense. After child-raping directors, Hollywood’s favorite hero is The Disillusioned Republican. (more…)

‘Racist!’ He cried…: A Thought-Terminating Cliché in Decline

by Adam Baldwin

‘Racist!’, the political epithet, has rapidly lost credibility and political sting recently thanks to clumsy overuse by grievance-mongering thugs. The slur is a tactical viewpoint discrimination launched as a means to stifle intellectual diversity, rational discussion, and to shame people that diverge from race-hustling orthodoxy.

campbell_blog3_block480

‘Race hustlers’ are commonly known as shakedown artists and/or smear merchants who expertly deploy the “R-word”, and it has somehow garnered them credibility to preach the gospel of social justice — and reap the ill-gotten gains of equality-of-outcome Statism — to the intellectual wreckage left below them.

Tragically, such rhetorical abuse damages the appropriate use of the term – and leaves actual victims of “traditional” racism with a neutered descriptor that is quickly beginning to make the accuser sound like a whining name-caller. The sad irony is that abusers harm the very people they claim to be defending, most often for selfish political and financial profit.

Of course, follow the money…  (more…)

I’ve Got Your Deficit Commission Right Here!

by Joseph C. Phillips

Even as a bloodbath looms in the November distance, the Obama administration continues to push healthcare because they know that Americans love theirentitlements like winos love wine. They are betting the farm that once that fiery warmth begins running through the National body we will not only lovenational health care, but will fight to defend it. We will also be too glassy eyed to notice that we have suddenly signed away our liberty, becoming slaves to those that serve us. But I digress.

obamadebt

Like wine, entitlements cost money. Sadly the more addicted we become the less money we have to spend on more important and often essential things. The wino lacks food, housing and clothing; the entitlement addict lacks employment, savings and luxury.

Consider that today our national debt stands at roughly $12 trillion or roughly 70% of our gross domestic product or GDP. But wait. We have promised today’s workers Social Security and Medicare benefits totaling another $41 trillion. Toss in another trillion for miscellaneous expenses, and suddenly our debt skyrockets to $54 trillion. In layman’s terms it means in order to pay our future obligations we would need $54 trillion dollars invested today. How much of that money does this nation have sitting around? Zip! Zero! Zilch! Daily Gut: Did Obama Cause Spousal Abuse?

by Greg Gutfeld

So I finally figured out what makes Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid so intriguing.

He’s a big stupid-face.

obama_reid

Example: Monday, during a Senate debate over the job creation package, he suggested that unemployment causes men to beat their wives.

“I met with some people while I was home dealing with domestic abuse. It has gotten out of hand,” Reid said. “Why? Men don’t have jobs.”

He adds that “Women don’t have jobs either, but women aren’t abusive, most of the time,” he said. (more…)
