Movement to Move ‘Red Eye’ to Earlier Time Slot Picks Up Steam

by John Nolte

While we always worry when we find ourselves in agreement with Mediaite, we are happy to see the idea we promoted last week picking up some steam. And nothing doubles our resolve in seeing “Red Eye” moved to a more prominent Fox News Channel time slot than what we’re witnessing this week at the hands of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. With 2012 looming, the Right desperately needs a dog in this satirical fight, preferrably one that’s allowed to howl before 3 a.m.

The only thing more maddening than not having a weapon, is having a weapon that’s not being used properly. In the form of the “Red Eye” crew, Fox News has a proven talent at their disposal and there’s obviously a market for a primetime, satirical look at the day’s events. Does anyone doubt that Colbert and Stewart’s relentless leftism drives people away? And anyone who’s seen an episode of “Red Eye” knows there’s no one better suited to pick that audience up than Greg Gutfeld.

Mediaite’s Matt Schneider makes the same case:

First, why does Red Eye deserve the larger audience that would no doubt be waiting for it at an earlier time slot? Besides regularly featuring intelligent debates, provocative guests and hilarious comedy bits, Red Eye is unique in that it is basically the only conservative answer to many left-leaning successful comedy shows like Real Time with Bill Maher, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. Today’s generation of young information seekers often prefer to be entertained while getting the news and Maher, Stewart and Colbert can often be the only means by which some young people stay informed. Red Eye can serve a similar purpose and fill the comedic void that young conservative-leaning Americans no doubt desire.

That’s true to a point but there’s something bigger and more important to consider here. The mainstream media  — and that includes Mediaite — uses the likes of Colbert, Stewart, and SNL as weapons to bludgeon conservatives with. Call it the Tina Fey Factor. These entertainers know and count on the news media viralizing their most potent attacks against the right — and the news media never fails to comply. With a potent talent like Gutfeld in a slot that doesn’t require DVR viewing the next day after the news cycle has already moved on, right-of-center ideas have a real chance at earning a seat at this table.

2012 Preview: Stephen Colbert ‘Alinskys’ Republican Senator to Delight of Corrupt MSM

by John Nolte

UPDATE: It looks as though it’s possible to make the case the case that Kyl was correct – if so, my apologies to the Senator. If this is the case, it only makes Colbert and his left-wing allies in the MSM all the more insidious.

2nd Update: After looking at everything closely (life moves pretty fast on these here Internets), I have to go with my original impression that Kyl was simply wrong about PP and that the response from his office only made things worse.

—–

Here’s the rundown: Republican Senator Jon Kyl said something that isn’t true (that 90% of what Planned Parenthood does is abortions), Colbert nails him on it, and then Kyl’s office doubles down with this incredibly lame statement…

[H]is remark was not intended to be a factual statement, but rather to illustrate that Planned Parenthood, an organization that receives millions of taxpayer dollars, does subsidize abortions.

…and now Colbert’s having a field day and , naturally, the Leftist MSM’s picking it up and helping to viralize the attack. Before we get started, however, don’t ask me to defend Kyl. He’s a United States Senator entitled to a mistake but not entitled to be ignorant of the fact that when a Leftist like Stephen Colbert has his teeth in you, you better not throw him more meat.

Bottom line, though, is that this Colbert using the power of popular culture to practice Alinsky tactics — and doing so very effectively. Politicians lie and say ridiculous things every day, especially Democrats who know they can wield hyperbole about Republicans wanting to “kill women“ with little fear of any kind of real accountability from their pals in the MSM. But Colbert and Comedy Central choose to isolate and mock Kyl, the MSM runs wild with it, and a very powerful message gets out that hurts Republicans and helps the abortionists at Planned Parenthood.

Tucson Massacre: ‘The View,’ Colbert & Stewart Don’t Blame Palin

by Hollywoodland

After Roger Ebert, Jane Fonda, Michael Moore, Elizabeth Banks, and a host of other celeb vultures descended on the murdered and wounded in Arizona for a partisan political feast, if what we’re seeing from The View, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert is any kind of indication, the entertainment community as a whole appears to have sensed the backlash and decided to cool off.

Good.

It would have been nice if the left would’ve allowed us to come together as a nation and grieve on Saturday, but better late than never.

Obama’s Palace Guard: Stephen Colbert Mocks Limbaugh, Pigford Critics

by John Nolte

If you hadn’t had the opportunity yet, I urge you to head on over to Big Government to check out the Pigford series unfurling today. I would start with Andrew Breitbart’s anchor piece, jump into this superb piece of investigative journalism by Breitbart, Big Peace editor Peter Schweizer and Gary Hewson, and then keep refreshing. Much more there, much more to come.

As someone who’s not a regular watcher of Stephen Colbert I have to say this clip surprised me. I thought he was supposed to be impersonating Bill O’Reilly. All I saw was Jon Stewart in a better suit and nerd-glasses.

Colbert Report Full Episodes 2010 Election March to Keep Fear Alive

Anyway, in the Comedy Central Dynamic Duo’s usual role of being incurious, knee-jerk protectors of all things Big Fat Federal Government, all you have here is Colbert fulfilling that role with the usual-usual we see from the left. In three words his argument is: race-race-race. Colbert’s not interested in the facts or anyone’s point of view or arguments – unless, of course, they fit his tight little leftist narrative. His idea of satire is thimble deep; if someone says a minority group was oppressed, we must write a check and write it now…

And anyone who disagrees is racially insensitive. LMAO! (more…)

Hate Speech Resides on the Left

by Brian Jennings

I thought conservatives were the only group that was guilty of hate speech until I heard Jon Stewart’s rant on Rush Limbaugh.  But, that was preceded by New York Governor David Paterson.  And, that was preceded by David Letterman.  Limbaugh is a tough football loving brute, but even three libs throwing illegal chop blocks can’t take Rush down.  Odd how they accuse us of hate speech when in fact they are guilty three times this week.  Three strikes and you’re out!

First, Letterman said Rush was too smart to believe what he says and should be the head of the Republican Party because he’s tubby.  Second, Governor Paterson bashes Rush for announcing his intention to sell his Fifth Avenue condo because of high taxes and being audited ad nauseum.  But, those incidents were mild compared to the idiotic rant by pseudo-comedian Jon Stewart who tells Rush to “get the fxxx out of here.”  Stewart didn’t stop at that: “For years, for years, for years, New Yorkers have done everything in our power to get this guy to leave town.  We knew he was into drugs, so we cleaned up Times Square.  We even opened up a Disney store in the very place he would normally go to buy drugs.”  The reference was Rush’s dependence on pain killers which he openly admitted on his show facing his problem honestly and ultimately winning his battle.  But Stewart let his anger get the best of him and the hate spewed forth declaring everyone who smokes a cigar is a “douchebag.” And, then….”We outlawed murder, figuring he was a guy with a taste for it.”  (more…)
