I went to University of Detroit’s Jesuit High School in Northwest Detroit.

Out of all my educational experiences, those formative four years were the best and the most enduring. Matched up against four years of the Ivy League at Dartmouth College and a year abroad in England on a Fulbright Scholarship, the Catholic experience was the deepest, the longest lasting and, in my opinion, the greatest contributor to a long – 70 years so far – and wonderfully rewarding life.

Here is an undeniably clear revelation of the growing divide between traditional America as seen in this Catholic Preparatory School, and the Obama Nation’s radically Leftist virulence poring out of union bullies and SEIU troublemaking.

Not only will the Progressive values of an Obama Nation leave our children and grandchildren holding a massive debt, those generations of Americans, increasingly influenced by The Obama Nation Value System, will be crippled and live a life of total dependence upon government and unions and eventually the devouring greed for power in a Progressive New World Order.

The Children of Obama will find no other recourse in life but increasing dependence upon the political and governing likes of Barack Hussein Obama, the SEIU and this cabal’s inner circle of CEO’s that are, like George Soros, “too big to fail”.

No one and nothing, from Napoleon, Stalin and Hitler to the Roman Empire, the Third Reich and World Communism have ever proven to be “too big to fail”.

The small but divinely conceived Messmer Catholic School teaches a value system that is too deep and too old to fail for long.

If you try to measure the century old history of the Communist Party against the two millennium-long history of the Catholic Church and the five millennium-old history of Judeo-Christianity?

Both Red China and neo-Soviet Russia are puppy institutions by comparison. They’re the zygotes and feti of Marxist daydreams that can and never will defeat Judeo-Christianity.

My bet is that Marx’s Das Capital and the Communist Manifesto will end up with Hitler’s Mein Kampf: three monstrous guidebooks for apocalyptic suicide.

The future of not only America but the entire human race depends upon the right of parents to send their children to a school of their own free choice. To deny them that privilege in any way is not only un-American, it is virtual suicide for the entire idea of individual freedom.

Where would the children of Messmer Preparatory School be if the SEIU, Obama’s Department of Education and Dr. Evil get their way?

For many in the Big Hollywood audience, I am sharing these thoughts with the “converted”.

How the unconverted, Leftist zealots defend a labor union protest at a profoundly successful teaching institution?

That I can’t wait to see, read, hear and reply to.

Chris Ross is a great American, an amazingly gifted musician/singer-songwriter, and a superb conservative voice in the fight to save this great country. Upon hearing the first few bars of his song Freedom, I knew I was going to really dig his music. I was right. I was instantly hooked. His songs and vocal style remind me of the music of the band America which I loved back in the day (and still do). How very apropos. When he recently posted one of his newest songs, Restoring Honor, featured on the WatchGlennBeck.com site, I just knew this song would resonate with so many Americans. And it is doing just that.

After I contacted Chris and told him I wanted to do a BigDawg Spotlight piece on him and asked him for his bio, what he sent me turned out to be so much more that I decided to let him answer the opening question himself.

I grew up listening to music. My father, a rabid music fan, introduced me to the sounds of the 60s and 70s and I’ve had a passion for music ever since. Today, it is easy to hear these influences in my music. My sound is a combination of modern acoustic pop and country with some classic 70’s rock mixed in.

In June of 2004 I released my debut CD entitled American Dream featuring heart-filled originals as well as classic covers. This labor of love proved to be a success and spent 10 straight weeks on the top 10 list at www.cdfreedom.com. That site now is www.Nimbit.com. The title track of the album American Dream was inspired by the events of 9-11 and the start of my political awakening. Basically, I was sick of hearing Hollywood types complain about how bad America was and was deeply affected by the events of 9-11 losing a high school friend who was a flight attendant on the 2nd flight that hit the tower. That Song American Dream was the first moments of me waking up politically.

In 2007 and 2008 I began writing more political-themed songs. As the Presidential race of 2008 started to heat up I wrote my first song that reached national attention. My song Freedom was featured on both the Glenn Beck Radio show and the Alex Jones radio show in the Spring of 2010. It was also named by the Huffington Post as one of the top 10 Tea Party themed songs of 2010. It currently has close to 20k views on YouTube and has been a successful single on iTunes. The song has also been featured on NewZeal.Blogspot (now TrevorLouden.com), Watchglennbeck.com and many other patriotic websites across the country. This song has been an absolute God-send to me. I have deep faith and this song was one of those instances where I truly felt the Holy Spirit influence me while writing this. I believe we are all here for a reason at this point in time and we all have our jobs to do. I think this is one of my callings — to help get the message of Freedom out.

I care so much about my country and I can’t even fathom that there are people out there who would rather live in Tyranny instead of Freedom. One of the things Glenn Beck really has nailed is that this is truly all about Individual Freedom and Liberty vs. Collective Liberty. Collective Liberty is much easier to control because it is Liberty for the good of all. Well, who decides what is good for all? That is the most important question. By the way, our forefathers fought for Individual Freedom and Liberty over a tyrannical King. The French fought for Collective Liberty. So it is easy to see why America is who she is and France is who she is. How could we have fallen so far so fast? That is what I am aiming to do is to help wake people up and inspire them to relearn the values that our forefathers taught us

Recently, I have joined an amazing group of fellow conservative artists at Big Dawg Music Mafia. This was an idea I have had for a long time. Back two or three years ago I was amazed at how little of a forum conservative voices really had. Particularly with all of us musicians out there. However, having a full time job, a family, plus my own gig schedule with music, it was impossible to find time to do it. But it was amazing the amount of musicians I was meeting from just my song Freedom across the country that I knew it was only a matter of time before something like this popped up. I was very encouraged by the amount of people I started to see who were speaking out for their country. I really commend the job Lisa Mei and BigDawg do in promoting all of us. It really is like a conservative record label. We are all helping each other out and promoting songs and videos on social media forums like Facebook. We are also collaborating with each other. For instance, I wrote a song called 1776 that Toots Sweet, another Big Dawg’er, is in the studio recording right now. I wrote that song with him in mind. So we are all trying to help each other out but, more importantly, help our country out in winning the culture war. I think we are producing a bunch of conservative Bob Dylan’s and Crosby Stills and Nash’s from the 60’s but in a modern and conservative way. We desperately need to get young people engaged in this movement. We need young people to realize that living in a free country is way cooler than living in a country where the government tells you what to eat, where to go and watches what you say because it may offend someone. How is turning into a robot from a movie like Minority Report cool? But nonetheless I feel like at least right now the left is winning the battle for young people. Through music and multimedia I think we can turn that around though.

Make no mistake, this is a battle. We all hope as conservative musicians that this remains a peaceful battle fought on the battlefield of ideas, debate and ballot boxes. We hope to win the culture war and hope to wake America up! We are a true grassroots organization. We are not Astroturf like these Union thugs that recently tried to interrupt the Boston Tea Party Rally and other Rally’s across the country. Check out this video of them trying to yell over me with a bullhorn while I was playing my song Freedom.

Then these same goons had the gall to boo and yell over the opening prayer at this event.

It is no wonder why these organizations are forcing their members to go out and disrupt these events. Their very livelihood is at stake. To our fault, we have allowed our society to go on too long with entitlements and so many rely on Mommy and Daddy or better yet Uncle Sammy to solve all of their problems and take care of us. We have been conditioned not to question anything that is being decided for us because it is for our benefit. However Thomas Jefferson once said:

Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.

I intend to live this way. I intend to proclaim the values of Freedom and the values in which this country was formed. I will continue to do so unashamed and with a loud but hopefully pleasantly sounding musical voice.

Thanks, Chris…I couldn’t have said it better.

I got a chill (the good kind) when Chris said about his song Freedom:

I have deep faith and this song was one of those instances where I truly felt the Holy Spirit influence me while writing this.

It is never a surprise to me when I learn great patriots like Chris trust in God, use their faith as their moral compass, and always remember to give Him the glory. It is the very thing that I know in my heart is grossly lacking from the hate-filled leftists depicted in his videos above (and some others I’ve come across from the recent Tax Day TEA Parties that are beyond vile).

I’m stoked to have Chris join our BigDawg Brigade (our site volunteers) as our New Media Coordinator as he clearly understands and appreciates the value of using social networking sites to grow our movement. I look forward to the privilege of finally meeting in person and performing with Chris at the National TEA Party Convention in Memphis in September.

Please do yourself a favor and “friend” this great culture warrior and musician on FaceBook, subscribe to his YouTube channel, and show him some love by purchasing and sharing his amazing “freedom music“.

A new hard-hitting documentary entitled, “The Lottery,” from director Madeleine Sackler premieres tomorrow, for one night only, in theaters across the country. The focus of the film is the battle for the future of our nation’s children over education.

—–

“In a country where 58% of African-American 4th graders are functionally illiterate, The Lottery uncovers the failures of the traditional public school system and reveals that hundreds of thousands of parents attempt to flee the system every year. The Lottery follows four of these families from Harlem and the Bronx who have entered their children in a charter school lottery. Out of thousands of hopefuls, only a small minority will win the chance of a better future.”

And at the core of that battle is a network of special interests; a coalition of community groups, labor unions, and politicians, all working together to hold onto power and control, while losing sight of the children; the future of our country.

The inner workings of such a web are little known or understood to most, even to some of those close to the system. To understand how powerful this network is, first you need to be extremely observant. And then, you need to go right to the source. Within no time, many of the issues that stand in the way of reforming our public education system become as clear as the most perfect of ocean waters on a sunny day.

For years, labor unions like the SEIU and the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), in partnership with community organizations like ACORN and their sister organization, the Working Families Party, have opposed the implementation of or the expansion of charter schools. After seeing stats like those above, if you didn’t know these groups, you’d wonder why.

Just last week, the 2.4 million member AFL-CIO took its shots against charter schools when it opposed the NY State Senate’s bill to expand the state’s charter schools from 200 to 460. As the bill awaits a general assembly vote after passing in the Senate, the AFL-CIO then went after politicians who supported the Senate bill. Their claim? The proposed law “fails to take into consideration more effective oversight for charter school operations and fair worker protections for charter school educators.”

Translation: Most charter schools are not unionized; in many states, charter schools are also privately operated, making it also more difficult to force those facilities into unionization, in contrast to the relative ease of unionizing public school workers in many states and school districts. Especially when ACORN candidates sit on the city councils and school boards of so many regions.

According to its annual Year End/Year Begin report [see below] for 2006, ACORN works closely with local city councils and public school boards to get its own endorsed candidates elected. For instance, in one such report, ACORN celebrates that it “helped defeat Chamber of Commerce backed incumbents in both [school board election] races, giving African-Americans a majority on the school board.” The reality is that with charter schools dispersed throughout communities, the public school landscape becomes more diluted, and ACORN and its partners have a much more difficult time exerting any of their power and control over an entire school district.
acorn doc BH 6 7 –

At the same time, ACORN focuses on other ways to ensure that more control is concentrated in their favor at all costs. In the same Year End/Year Begin report, ACORN acknowledges the following plan in Little Rock, Arkansas:

“We are part of a coalition that is working to eliminate the at-large positions on the City Board and to strengthen the power of the elected Mayor. We have gathered around 4,000 signatures to place the proposal on the ballot. We will use this campaign to begin to rebuild our involvement in city politics.”

With tentacles spread across varying levels of local government, ACORN has made it a practice to ensure its interests are protected at all costs. Even if that could mean that students may suffer at the hands of a poor-performing school district, or worse yet, a corrupt system. Once special interests are embedded into local politics and into the systems those politicians control, it is usually very difficult to reverse that trend.

It’s a common trend that ACORN follows. The culture of the organization is to partner with the unions under master agreements, in many cases receiving compensation by way of a donation or direct payment from the organizations. Their services can include anything from providing organizing assistance, to finding disgruntled workers in non-union facilities to provide inside information to the labor unions, to sending protesters to facilities upon which their partners wish to place pressure or create negative PR. Assisting in the fight against charter schools is simply a natural fit for ACORN, as it benefits ACORN, monetarily and structurally, as much as it benefits its partners like the United Federation of Teachers and the SEIU.

“Our program continues to be that we will work with any federation and any union committed to a major organizing program, and that will continue to be our message and program in 2007 and beyond. This area of our work has also become very large for us in a very short time. Not surprisingly because of our history, the most significant partner continues to be SEIU. An attack editorial in the Wall Street Journal drawing from 2005 Labor Management reports indicated that we had done more than $2.5 million worth of business with SEIU over that period, so besides being good work in the main, our collaboratives are producing important and critical capacity and infrastructure support for the organization.”

In places like New York, where “The Lottery” director drove by such a protest and stumbled into the web that is ACORN and its allies, the marriage of ACORN, the teachers and child care unions, and the local politicians is quite evident. Again, ACORN describes in its own report the very relationship that established its first projects with the United Federation of Teachers and American Federation of Teachers.

“Our partnership with United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and AFT to organize over50,000 home child care workers in NY continues to develop. AFSCME and AFT split jurisdiction in an agreement in 2006, but our partnership continued to maintain numbers that could yield between 25 and 30000 workers in the metro NYC area once the unit is incorporated. Legislative action achieved a near victory to yield a process for recognition that hopefully will either be secured before year end or reset in early 2007 through an executive order. Working with NY ACORN, the re-signing required continues to move forward. With the stars and moons aligned we could see this project brought in fully in 2007. We continue to be hopeful that we can construct a permanent partnership in the ongoing organizational maintenance and support for this unit as well.”

As a largely non-unionized profession, providers of child care –especially home based child care – have often been the initiating target for labor unions and ACORN to gain a stronghold in non-unionized areas. This is the proverbial “foot in the door” for the unions. The community-group/union/political collaborative has colluded in many states to secure an Executive Order from the states’ governors to ensure a unionized teachers workforce from the earliest of learning stages.

And this kind of abuse of power and collusion is prevalent in many places.

For instance, on the other side of the country in California, the Lucia Mar school board privatized school bus operations to save taxpayers money in 2003. SEIU and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) union teamed up to force the pension fund, California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), to sell off shares in any company that competes for public sector jobs, and to prohibit investments with any firm that builds or staffs charter schools, demanding “a strong anti-privatization stand”.

This is a problem that is pervasive in America. It is larger than our child’s school, or our local community. It’s larger than our state. This is an issue of national significance with national consequences. We say it all the time. Our children are the future of this great nation. Unless we recognize the ugly issues that lurk inside the system from every angle, at every level, and unless we as citizens take action to clean it out, the future won’t look very bright – for our children, or for our nation.

I for one was very excited to see Ms. Sackler’s documentary appear in the headlines these last few days. Perhaps it will bring some much needed attention to these issues and serve as a rallying cry to citizens all across the country. I certainly hope it does.

It has been almost one year since I began writing here at the Big Blogs of Breitbart.com. When it all began, I was motivated by the events that brought down Sacramento Music Theatre executive Scott Eckern. Ironically, his story, which inspired this new avocation also served as a real-life lesson in the new political world we inhabit. You see, Mr. Eckern was forced to resign his position because it was discovered that he donated money to the anti-same sex marriage Prop. 8 campaign. Knowing that, I would have been a fool to put my name on the things I’ve written here. So, “Stage Right” was born.

Since then, I have been fortunate enough to have free-reign on all things theatre at Big Hollywood (gently guided by the collective wisdom of Andrew Breitbart and John Nolte) and I’ve had a fantastic time writing about the industry, about the non-profit world… even about my favorite shows. But now, things have changed just a bit.

It started with Patrick Courrielche’s now famous expose’ on the NEA Conference Call. Just like the Scott Eckern story, what bothered me most at the time was the media and especially the left-leaning theatre writers’ attack on Patrick. Instead of showing any level of skepticism over the appropriateness of staff members of the NEA and the White House coordinating discussions with artists about how they can help move the President’s agenda by creating works of art in favor of specific issues, Patrick was attacked and libeled for the sin of telling the truth and bringing the subject to light.

Next came the media’s reaction to James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles’ blockbuster series of videos exposing the corruption at ACORN offices from sea to shining sea. Again, the venom and outrage is directed at the messenger while the message gets rationalized and obfuscated. This story raised my ire to such a degree that I began posting at Big Government.

Next, I started digging deep into the story of how Kenneth Gladney was beaten by SEIU union reps in St. Louis. I saw that not only did the mass media ignore the story, but the left-wing blog world actually tried to make Gladney the instigator. After discovering that an SEIU front group (working with the White House and House Democratic Leadership) had provided written instructions for their union membership on how to disrupt protestors and create conditions that led to the violence, I began to realize that I was in the thick of some very big issues… a lot bigger than whether I get to work in a theatre.

These three stories that have been highlights of the year at Big Government and Big Hollywood have a common thread: Courageous citizens willing to tell the truth no matter what the consequences. Kenneth Gladney is the quintessential “Little Guy”, the “Everyman”, the guy the Democratic Party always says they are looking out for. Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe are fearless mavericks with a pet peeve for hypocrisy. They are putting into practice exactly what “Real” journalists claim they are doing: Speaking Truth to Power. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Patrick Courrielche and have collaborated with him on a number of stories. He is sincere, he is compassionate and he is ridiculously intelligent.

I have reached the point where I can no longer hide behind the warm embrace of anonymity while I stand shoulder to shoulder with such brave and noble colleagues. I no longer fear professional retribution nearly as much I fear the direction of my government and the lack of candid analysis from the professional journalists charged with the responsibility of critically analyzing that government.

So, to that end: My name is Larry O’Connor.

I worked for five years on Broadway for The Shubert Organization and briefly for Lincoln Center Theatre. In Los Angeles, I continued my relationship with the Shubert Organization as the General Manager for their Los Angeles theatre. I oversaw the operations and management of the Shubert Theatre, Los Angeles during the runs of the American Premiere of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Sunset Blvd., Ragtime, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast as well as multiple touring productions.

While serving as the General Manager of the Shubert Theatre, I was also the President of a non-profit theatre’s Board of Directors as well as President of the Los Angeles League of Theatres known at the time as Theatre LA. I also served on the boards of four union benefit plans and I served as a co-creator and producer of Los Angeles’ premiere theatre awards program, The Ovation Awards.

After nearly fifteen years with Shubert, I took the occasion of the birth of my first child to start my own production and management company. I managed productions in theatres from 99-seats up to 3,000 seats with stars like Sir Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammar, Ruby Dee, Neil Patrick Harris, Val Kilmer and Adam Lambert, and with creative staff the likes of Charles Nelson Reilly, Stephen Schwartz, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Max Azria and Ossie Davis. Not once in all of those productions or with all of those people (some of them well known for their extreme political views) did the subject of my politics ever come up, (as far as I know!).

I sat through many one-sided conversations about politics, the economy, America and the war. It was never necessary for my politics to come out for me to effectively do my job. It still is not necessary, but, we’ll see if I get the chance to find out.

I am married and I have four children. I want my wife and children to know that I am not afraid. That it is not only allowed in our country to raise your voice, it is expected. It’s part of the deal here. And when something is wrong, when a friend is being bullied and intimidated, when people in power are corrupt, we have a duty to exercise our God given right of free speech.

I would like to express my extreme and humble gratitude to Andrew Breitbart, John Nolte and Mike Flynn for allowing me to write here under the cloak of anonymity. I know that when Big Hollywood first launched, Andrew felt a little heat because of it. But, I think we have all seen over the course of this year that Andrew can handle a little heat, he is the Red Adair of the “Under Media”. I would also like to thank the small group of friends who have known my secret and remained discreet. I appreciate your loyalty more than you can know.

This may be the end of my secret, but I see this as the beginning of a new and liberated style of writing. There are many things in my life and in my past that I kept from these pages for fear that it would expose me. Look for those stories at Big Hollywood in the coming weeks. And, at Big Government, look for a continuation of stories like Kenneth Gladney’s assault, and the climate of fear and intimidation created by organizations like HCAN, ACORN, SEIU and the extreme left of the Democratic Party. Those are the stories that brought me to the realization that there are some bigger things afoot here… bigger things than hiding my face from the world.

I’m Larry O’Connor. I’m “Stage Right”. And I’m really happy to be here.

When President Obama was just Candidate Obama and tossing promises to us like Mardi Gras beads to shirtless women, he made a few that we all liked. The two things even we of the far-right wing nut-job persuasion hoped might be true were that he was going to change the way things were done in Washington and there was going to be a new transparency in government. Even though I am at times jaded and a bit cynical, I have never given up hoping. I wasn’t holding my breath, but if the President held up his word I was willing to give him credit.

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, candidate Barack Obama and Gov. Ted Strickland

The poster boy for these two broken promises is Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown. If you’ve never heard of Senator Brown he is probably most famous for being mistaken for an African-American by Rush Limbaugh because of his name. He is actually a child of privilege who was raised in Northeastern Ohio. Senator Brown has never had a “real” job. After graduating from Yale, Senator Brown entered politics taking a short break to go back to college for an advanced degree. Despite the fact Senator Brown has never worked in the private sector much less gotten his hands dirty with physical labor, he likes to see himself as a common man. What rich, well connected politician doesn’t? The Senator has been in Washington so long he has come to think he is employed by the Democrat Party and not the people of Ohio.

Senator Brown was one of the brave legislators who when he saw how the whole open town meeting thing was going last summer staged a number of “community roundtables” in heavily Democratic areas. Senator Brown claims to have visited voters in every Ohio county but has dodged my county and my invitations to appear at a true open town meeting. His propaganda events were heavily attended by stooges from the SEIU and other Brown operatives. Public input was heavily limited and also staged as I have documented in the past. These union “workers” would have been easy for Senator Brown to turn out as his daughter is employed by the SEIU. His other daughter works for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. If one were a cynic they might wonder how hard those two had to work to get those jobs

His biggest achievement in his three years in the Senate was that he had compiled a voting record that is 97% along party lines. Recently, Senator Brown did a bit of grandstanding and included his name on a Republican amendment that would demand all congress members join the public option in health care. An amendment he knew would not make the bill but gives him cover at home. Again a cynical person might wonder if he had to get permission from his boss Harry Reid to make this move. If the Senator wants to show he is serious he should write his own amendment, get a few other committed Democrats to join him and refuse to vote for any health care legislation that does not contain his amendment. Rep. Bart Stupak, a Michigan has already shown this kind of courage, but I am guessing Senator Brown doesn’t have that much spine.

To see how much of a lap dog to the party Senator Brown has become one only need look at his voting on the meaningful amendments to the Senate health care legislation. On the three amendments, to stop stripping a total of $560 billion from Medicare, Senator Brown said no, no, no!

If Senator Brown believes in transparency and bipartisanship why has he not spoken out against the closed door meeting that excluded conservative voices in drafting this legislation? Why has he not demanded the President uphold his campaign to put the crafting of this legislation on C-Span? If he is a man of the people, why has didn’t he support the amendment limiting the payout to tort lawyers in medical malpractice lawsuits? I have an idea how we can help Senator Brown achieve his desire to become a man of the people of Ohio; help him join them in the unemployment line in 2012.

The situation in Afghanistan is like a poker game. There are only three options for action: raise, call or fold. The President seems to be unable to pick one that doesn’t have Americans on both sides of the debate pulling out their hair.

During his campaign for the White House President Obama said, “We have seen Afghanistan worsen, deteriorate. We need more troops there. We need more resources there… I would send two to three additional brigades to Afghanistan.”

He promised to send another ten to fifteen thousand troops to help those already there. He also declared that the war in Afghanistan was the proper front in the war against terror. Now that he is Commander-in-Chief, his vision seems to be less clear.

The military commanders gave the President four troop deployment options earlier this week but he refused all four. Not for military reasons but because of some hooey about the corruption of the government in Kabul and their inability to run a fair election. Mr. President, if our support for governments was based on whether they are corrupt or not and could run a fair election, we would have pulled federal funding from Chicago years ago. The problem with pulling out of Afghanistan, or Chicago for that matter, is that they would fall into violent anarchy. We have already seen that happen in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Current thinking on what to do in Afghanistan is based on two faulty assumptions:

The first is that wars are clear and concise events with specific outcomes and easy to find exit points. When John McCain told us the truth about how long we might be in Iraq, we didn’t want to hear it. We have been in Japan and Germany for over sixty years and in the Philippines for much longer. I wonder if back during the Spanish- American War leftist were telling the President that the Philippines were tribal islands and would never be able to be organized into a stable democratic government?

The second faulty assumption is that if we walk away from Afghanistan, simply pull all of our troops out, the war it then over. How long would it be before the Taliban was running things again and Al Qaeda was using it as a base of operations? We will be fighting the same people again in the future, perhaps armed with nuclear weapons from Iran or Pakistan. Our national attention span has shortened to Twitter-like dimensions while our enemies think in terms of centuries.

The real problem for President Obama is that is if he deploys more troops and commits to staying, Afghanistan is no longer Bush’s war but his. Not even a year into his term and he is already worried about his legacy rather than doing what is best for the country. He is worried that his presidency will get bogged down in the battle for liberty instead of being able to focus on strengthening ACORN and the SEIU.

The left doesn’t mind waging long, costly, and non-winnable wars, so long as they are they start them themselves. Look at the war on poverty and the war on drugs. Our cities are littered with the lives ruined by those wars. We have thrown enough money into those two rat holes to finance Iraq and Afghanistan for the next fifty years and toss in twenty years of free government health care to boot. Do we have an exit strategy from the Welfare State, Mr. President?
