Roseanne Cash Calls John Boehner ‘Asshat’ For Referencing Her Dad

Gawker’s awfully excited about this:

We’d like to give Cash a fist-bump for this—not only because she found a fairly creative way to call someone a jerk, but also because she managed to insult Boehner without mentioning his eerie perma-tan.

My mistake, that was actually Mediaite.

The humorless Ms. Cash appears to be upset over this part of Rep. John Boehner’s latest stump speech:

“Remember when Ronald Reagan was president? We had Bob Hope. We had Johnny Cash. Think about where we are today. We have got President Obama. But we have no hope and we have no cash.”

Once again we have another example of how the gentleman and lady genes did not transfer to the offspring. But that’s what usually happens when it all comes way too easy.

Close Gitmo!: Musicians Angry Their Music Used For ‘Torture’

Rock bands including Pearl Jam and REM have joined a coalition of musicians to support the US president’s efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.

The National Campaign to Close Guantanamo, which also includes former military officers, launched on Tuesday.

Many of the artists who have signed up are angry that their music was used as an interrogation tool in the jail.

But CIA spokesman George Little said music was used only for security, rather than “punitive purposes”. (more…)
