No Joke: Roseanne Barr Is Running for President

by Hollywoodland

Roseanne Barr has filed the official paperwork necessary to run for the Green Party nomination for president of the United States.

No joke.

And here we thought Donald Trump endorsing Mitt Romney was the big celebrity political news of the day.

“I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS,” the comedian said Thursday on Twitter. “I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice.”

Barr filed her paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Jan. 25, creating a four-way race for the Green nomination, which will be decided at the Green Party Presidential Nominating Convention in July.

“I will run until the convention in July in Baltimore-I fully expect Jill Stein 2b the nominee& I will support her, but til then-I’ll serve,” Barr said amid a slew of other tweets, some of them raunchy, most having to do with her campaign.

Roseanne, the Red Queen

by Matthew Vadum

Although the revolutionary bloodlust of the Left is never far beneath the surface, sometimes it takes a crisis to bring it out into the open.

Take the case of Roseanne Barr, a self-described socialist and proud ACORN member. As part of her vanity campaign for the presidency, the unfunny comedian has managed to make liberal Hollywood crusader Susan Sarandon seem like a thoughtful moderate.

Barr is now calling for the forced reeducation and murder of wealthy Americans just as Bill Ayers’s Weather Underground Organization proposed decades before.

When meeting with the radical demonstrators occupying Wall Street, Sarandon recently stressed the importance of strengthening so-called campaign finance reform and improving governmental transparency.

Barr, on the other hand, communed with the hippy rabble in lower Manhattan and then took to the airwaves to urge that a French-style Reign of Terror be visited on the heads of those with incomes she considers excessive.

“Part of my platform is, of course, that the guilty must be punished and that we can no longer let our children see their guilty leaders getting away with murder,” Barr told Max Keiser of Russia Today (RT). “Because it teaches children that they don’t have to have any morals as long as they have guns and are bullies that they’ll win and I don’t think that’s a good message.”

“I do say that I am for the return of the guillotine and that is for the worst of the worst of the guilty,” Barr deadpanned.

Good News: Roseanne Back on Television with New Lifetime Reality Show

by Alexander Marlow

If someone told you that Roseanne Barr had a new 16-episode reality show focusing on her “new life on a macadamia nut farm on the Big Island of Hawaii,” you’d probably think they were yanking your chain.

And you’d be wrong.  From Newsweek:

The 58-year-old comedian is launching a 16-episode reality series, Roseanne’s Nuts, on Lifetime on Wednesday. It shows her new life on a macadamia nut farm on the Big Island of Hawaii, which she bought in 2007 and moved to fulltime last year. She lives with her boyfriend of eight years, Johnny Argent, and teenaged Buck, with her adult children and grandchildren around, too. They’re all on the show, which Barr said is like “Larry David meets reality.” Meaning, it’s not exactly reality? “It’s based in reality,” she said. “But it’s funny. It’s not the Kardashians.”

It’s long been said that reality is stranger than fiction, but reality television might be stranger still.  Big Hollywood readers probably would agree that Roseanne is just about the last person they would want watch star in a reality show, but if those nauseating “Real Housewives” are any indication, the crazier you are, the better chance you have at pulling in an audience.

There’s nothing in the Newsweek piece–needless to say–to suggest the magazine or Lifetime had any issues with a recent photo shoot of Roseanne’s where she dressed as Hitler and ate burnt “Jew cookies,” but Newsweek did make sure to get Roseanne’s take on Michele Bachmann: (more…)

Roseanne Barr & Michael Moore: An Epic Clash of Ignorance Over Libya

by John Nolte

Essentially, what Michael Moore and Roseanne Barr are saying here (though she argues with him before she appears to agree on principle) is that America shouldn’t have gone into Libya because George W. Bush destroyed the trust the world had in us. And so, as a consequence, the number one priority for our Pentagon and military is that they should take a “time out” and stop doing anything until the world trusts and loves us again.

Translation? Sitting on our hands as untold thousands of civilians are butchered in the Middle East will help rebuild the trust the people in the Middle East have in us.

—–

I’m always impressed by how compassionate the likes of a Michael Moore can sound as he speaks evil. To him the Pentagon taking a ”time out” takes precedent over saving thousands of innocent lives. Moore can lie all he wants, he can say the French should have taken the lead in Libya, but he knows full well that the French are incapable of summoning the kind of military might necessary to do what needed to be done last week. There’s plenty to criticize regarding Obama’s stunning lack of leadership, clarity and commitment, but the idea of America standing helplessly by as a potentially historic Middle East uprising is gunned down and butchered, is unthinkable.

It was the same with these people and the war in Iraq. I had no problem with those who opposed the war before we went in. But once we were there, once the Iraqi people stood up and voted for our side, we had and have a moral obligation to stand with them until they can take over the security of their country. And yet, knowing the consequence of an American withdrawal on the Iraqi civilian population, knowing what the death squads and terrorists would do to  millions of innocents who trusted us, wicked people like Michael Moore and, yes, Barack Obama still did everything in their power to make that happen.

Pot, Meet Kettle: Roseanne Calls Palin a ‘Traitor’

by AWR Hawkins

In a recent appearance on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, Roseanne Barr unintentionally proved the validity of Forrest Gump’s maxim, “stupid is as stupid does.”

She did so initially by accusing Sarah Palin of being “a traitor to this country.” This ridiculous statement caught my attention not because it had any foundation in facts, but because it was being made by Barr: a woman who made headlines in 1990 for mocking America by grabbing her crotch and spitting while singing the National Anthem for a baseball game between the San Diego Padres and the Cincinnati Reds.

Barr next accused Palin of being “a dupe” and an opportunist who’s capitalizing on the “anti-intellectualism” of Americans. And while there’s something inherently laughable about Barr speaking derisively of “anti-intellectualism,” it’s somewhat offensive that she doesn’t guard against throwing the word “dupe” around so recklessly. After all, she is the dupe who once donned a Nazi uniform and wore it in pictures that showed her taking “burnt Jew cookies” out of an oven.

Yet as stupid as all these things were, perhaps Barr’s most stupid statement was her assertion that Dick Cheney has never “[earned] one damn thing. [The] guy’s never worked an honest day in his life.” Where has she been for the last 10 years? A period of time in which Cheney was relentlessly criticized for his ties to Big Oil, via his past working relationship with Halliburton. To this day, Cheney continues to be vilified for his work with that company. (more…)

Ted Nugent Schools Roseanne Barr In Just About Everything

by Hollywoodland

—–

As usual Anderson Cooper outnumbers the Republican, in this case 3 to 1: Ted Nugent vs. Roseanne Barr, Democrat Cornell Bellcher and, uhm, Cooper.

Watch how joyless Roseanne Barr is. Man, that woman’s damaged. She’s currently on tour hoping to say as much outrageously stupid stuff as possible in order to resurrect her miserable career like Kathy Griffin and Joyless Behar did. But Nugent owns the whole bunch. He’s heard all the crazy-left’s talking points before and is more than ready for them. The National Anthem shot is our personal favorite. That’s Nugent letting Barr know from the opening bell that he’s come to play and it immediately throws her off her game. He’s like a boxer leading with a straight right instead of a jab. You know he wants to rumble.

‘Heeb’: Brought to You By the Director of ‘Schindler’s List’

by John Nolte

America’s long past being shocked by anything Roseanne Barr will do for even a smidgen of attention. Why just the other day I was sitting around thinking it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if she dressed as Hitler and made fun of the Holocaust. To be honest, though, it wasn’t much more surprising to find Steven Spielberg’s name attached to this:

“Domestic Goddess Hitler” eats a “Jew Cookie” fresh from the oven.

The director may have captured our cinematic imagination throughout most of the 70s and 80s, but the creator of “E.T.” has a dark, troubling side when it comes to personal politics. He is, after all, the Useful Idiot who had to be shamed out of putting a pretty face on one of the most oppressive governments in the history of mankind — he is, after all, the director of “Munich,” an exercise in moral equivalency and historical revisionism written by a screenwriter who, after claiming he wanted Israel to exist, said, “…the founding of the state of Israel was for the Jewish people an historical, moral, political calamity.” (more…)
