U.S. News: Late Night Comedians Target Republicans 3-to-1 in 2011

by John Nolte

Interesting analysis below, but what’s most glaring is that neither Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid nor House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi received enough attention from our brave Late Night gang to even rank on this list. However! Two years-plus out of office, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney got hit 36 and 66 times respectively.

Takes an awful lot of guts to Speak! Truth! To! The! Out! Of! Power!

U.S. News and World Report:

Republicans were joked about by a margin of 3 to 1 over Democrats on late-night talk shows last year, but the biggest joke for Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon was President Obama, according to a new George Mason University study provided to Whispers.

Republicans took the top title because so many of them were speared by Fallon, Leno, and David Letterman, according to Robert Lichter, president of the school’s Center for Media and Public Affairs. …

But when it came to the top target of the 2011, Obama and shamed former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner came in first and second. Obama was gored by 342 jokes, Weiner 220. Third was former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, followed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 186 and Osama bin Laden at 172.

Gene Rodenberry: A Good, Pro-Life Hollywood Story

by Warner Todd Huston

Here at Big Hollywood we often take the entertainment industry to task for its outrageous liberalism, and rightfully so. Of course it’s our job to look for the worst cases to alert you all about the nagging left-wing bias. But occasionally there are stories that are good ones and it is incumbent upon us to report those, too. This is one of those stories.

More often than not when we have news out of Hollywood about life issues it is invariably a pro-abortion tale and in the case of scientific studies, it is usually some denizen of Tinseltown coming out forcefully for unethical fetal stem cell research. The destruction of life is de rigueur out there, unfortunately.

But not this time.

You might say that this celebrity has boldly gone where no Hollywooder has gone before. You also might wince at my horrible attempt at humor when you find out that we are here today to celebrate the efforts of Eugene W. Roddenberry Jr., the son of Gene Roddenberry, the creator of “Star Trek.”

Your Obama Non-Apologist of the Day: Matt Damon

by Hollywoodland

Actor Matt Damon got swept up in Obama-mania like 97 percent of the film industry.

Many of Damon’s peers have since bent over backwards – and then some – to explain away the president’s less than stellar tenure in the White House.

Damon isn’t having it.

Matt DamonThe “Bourne Identity” actor shared his disappointment with the Hope and Change Meets Reality Tour earlier this year. Now, he’s at it again, teeing off on the president in the pages of Elle Magazine.

“I’ve talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, ‘Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician,’ ” Damon told the magazine. “You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better.”

Barack the Vote: MTV Comes to Obama’s Rescue with Renewed Youth Vote Push

by Hollywoodland

Keep in mind, MTV does all of this all under the phony shield of being non-partisan. Obviously they’re worried about recent polls showing Obama in trouble with the young and dumb, so they have decided to ride to the rescue:

The cable network has replaced its campaign slogan of almost 20 years for a new one — “Power of 12″ –  which it hopes will energize today’s disillusioned youth to vote in the upcoming presidential election, the New York Times reports. The “12″ signifies the election year, and the “Power” suggests that young people within the 18-to-29-year-old demo have much influence over the 2012 race — if they take action, that is.

According to the Times, MTV’s research revealed that even though youth showed up in droves to champion President Barack Obama last election, they remained cynical about the electoral process.

“They were so passionate,” said MTV president Stephen K. Friedman. “And then they hit this wall of the economy.” He added of the name-switch: “Voting is one step in the process — just one step. The question for this generation is, they’ve got this power, will they exert it?”

Korn on Obama: ‘You Built This House of Shame’

by Kregg Janke

Jonathan Davis, lead singer of the band Korn, is not known for speaking his political mind. In fact, one of the tracks on the band’s 2005 album “See You on the Other Side” was titled “Politics,” in which Davis wrote about not liking to share his views on the subject.

Something between then and now has changed.

In an interview with Billboard.com for the group’s just-released album “Path of Totality,” Davis does not shy away from explaining his thinking behind the new track “Illuminati,” which includes the lyrics, “You rape our hope/Too proud to cope/You built this house of shame.” Explains Davis:

Korn“At the time I’d been really getting into the Illuminati and the whole conspiracy theory, New World Order. It’s entertaining to me. If it’s true, it’s true. If it’s not, it’s not. I don’t care, but it’s been like a little pet project of mine. It was a song that I wrote pretty much about, like, I feel like Obama’s an Illuminati puppet and how it’s basically dragging this country down into the worst it’s ever been, and, um, I mean, I think one of ‘em is like ‘you’ve built this house of shame.’

The White House used to be like, everybody looked up at the White House and America and everything, and now I think it’s like a house of shame. It’s like, just hang your head down, just like, I miss the old days when people were proud to be American. For me, you know, studying the Illuminati and what they’re trying to do, if there is an Illuminati, it’s pretty much breaking the people down, breaking the people down, breaking the people down until we just give up and create the North American Union, just like they did in Europe with the European Union. And the Russians and the Asians will have the Asian Union. It’s all coming down to a One World Government. I can see and I read about it and the stuff’s actually starting to happen, and it kind of freaks me out. So I wrote the song about that.”

Your Obama Apologist of the Day: Mary J. Blige (And Piers Morgan, Too)

by Hollywoodland

Singer Mary J. Blige wants President Barack Obama to have “another chance,” as if being Commander in Chief comes with a do-over card.

Blige, chatting with CNN talker Piers Morgan earlier this week, discussed her music career before the conversation steered toward politics. Somehow, Morgan makes sure that happens an awful lot, and given his sorry ratings you’d think he’d try something different.

Asked if she’s impressed with Obama’s performance so far, Blige said that, given “the mess that was thrown on him,” he is “dealing with it pretty good.”

“Do you think he’s capable of great things?” asked Morgan.

“I believe he’s capable of doing — of having another chance,” she said .”… He was given such a big pile of — here, take that, clean that up. One, you just can’t do that in one shot. And I think we have to ride and respect and support him, because that’s a lot.”

When did “hope and change” become “I need at least eight years to get anything done?”

Perhaps the most interesting part of the conversation deals with the host, not the guest. Morgan’s tee-up question for Blige reveals his staggering bias as well as his propensity to apologize for Obama all by himself.

Lady Gaga, Chart-Topping Chanteuse, Preeminent Anti-Bullying Expert?

by Hollywoodland

When it comes to the complicated world of teen bullying, there’s really only one expert of consequence – Lady Gaga.

After all, she’s been vocal on the subject for months now, and she’s clearly done enough field research to put the anti-bullying movement in high gear.

Lady Gaga Drake Meat Dress

Perhaps that’s why she’s visiting the White House today to lend her expertise to Obama administration staffers on the subject. Who can’t identify with being ostracized for wearing an outfit made of meat to school?

Hollywood Unhappy with Obama? Don’t Believe It.

by John Nolte

These kinds of articles are a little silly. Every single one of these Limousine Leftists will be in line by 2012, even if Obama does tank the economy, destroy health care, funnel millions of taxpayer dollars to his cronies in a can called green energy, and give a whole lot of guns to Mexican drug-runners. Oh wait–

Leftist Hollywood’s ploy is two-part.

1. High-profile liberals complaining about Obama not being socialist enough and too eager to compromise is all designed to appeal to the independents President FailureTeleprompter desperately needs to win reelection.

2. It’s a way to push Obama even more to the left.

Hollywoodists like Norman Lear are partisan animals who know how this works.

The Independent:

He was young, good looking, and photogenic. He swept to power against heavy odds on the back of a heart-warming, hopey-changey message, completing a rags-to-riches journey that might have come straight out of a blockbuster movie. It isn’t hard to see why Barack Obama’s election in 2008 was the toast of Hollywood.

[...]

Four years later? Not so much. When they enter the polling booths, the stars and the power brokers who run this town will still put their crosses against his name. But the sense of warm, fuzzy optimism that characterised his last election has more or less vanished.

Nowhere was the disillusionment more keenly felt than at the Beverly Wilshire hotel last night, as liberal Hollywood gathered for an exercise in champagne socialism. People for the American Way (PFAW) – perhaps the mostinfluential advocacy organisation in the US – planned to celebrate its 30th birthday in style, with the cost of a table at between £3,200 and £64,000.

‘Hollywood Reporter’: Did Liberal Sucker Punches Kill ‘Happy Feet Two’?

by John Nolte

Hollywood’s dealing with a whole new world. New Media can now get the word out days before the hugely important opening weekend begins. And if Hollywood thinks this right-of-center nation is outraged over the dozen-or-so box office bombs they produced in order to give aid and comfort to our jihadist enemies, the targeting of our children with their noxious leftist lies is going to be an even bigger problem.

“Happy Feet Two” cost 600 people their jobs.

—-

Leftist Hollywood wants to sexualize our kids and leftist Hollywood wants to brainwash our kids.

There is no place a leftist is happier than in that sweet spot found between the influence of parent and child.

Paul Bond at THR:

Director George Miller acknowledged five years ago that he reworked the script for the first Happy Feet to amplify the environmental themes, and conservatives who weren’t turned off by them the first time around expected similar messages in the sequel. Some, though, complain that Happy Feet Two ramped up the liberalism to the point of propaganda, and these disenchanted right wingers are getting the word out to like-minded moviegoers.

[...]

There’s about 123 million adult conservatives in the U.S., so if Hollywood insists on inserting liberal messages in its family fare, it risks alienating a huge chunk of its potential audience. And many conservatives are accusing Hollywood of doing just that.

After Pixar head honcho John Lasseter revealed ahead of the opening of Cars 2 that the oil industry would be the “uber bad guy,” a blogger at LonelyConservative.com wrote this: “We conservatives and believers in free markets are accused of being paranoid when we say the Hollywood industry is trying to indoctrinate our children with left-wing propaganda. But now movie directors and producers are coming out and admitting what they’re doing. I’m just glad I found this out before I allowed my kids to persuade me to take them to see the movie Cars 2.”

Cars 2 this year, by the way, took in 22 percent less at the domestic box office than its predecessor did in 2006.

Paging Ellen DeGeneres: Obama Okays ‘Horrible’ Horse Slaughter You Opposed in 2005

by John Nolte

Ellen DeGeneres at the HuffPo back in 2005:

Late last year, Congress did away with a 34 year old regulation banning the government from selling any of the 37,000 wild horses running free across America’s western plains. Since the new rule was adopted, the Bureau of Land Management has sold over a thousand horses to private parties. At least 41 of them have been slaughtered and turned into dog food.

Look here to learn more about this horrible state of affairs. And here if you want to become a part of the fight to repeal this odious law.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday:

President Obama last month quietly signed into law a spending bill that restores the American horse-slaughter industry, just a few months after a government investigation said the ban on slaughtering was backfiring.

The domestic ban didn’t end horse slaughter but instead shifted the site of butchery to Mexico and Canada – which meant increased abuse or neglect as the horses were shipped out of the country and beyond the reach of U.S. law.

The ban had been imposed in 2006 when Congress defunded the government’s ability to inspect plants that butchered horses for consumption. Without inspections, the meat couldn’t be sold, and the industry withered.

But the Agriculture spending bill Mr. Obama signed the week before Thanksgiving dropped the prohibition on inspections, and the administration said it now stands ready to conduct them should anyone open a horse-slaughter plant.

Ellen, there might be horse-slaughter plants; that’s like a factory for killing pretty widdle horsies…

In 2005, Congress was run by Republicans, so it was pretty easy to stand up for a principle under those conditions.

Obama Apologist of the Day: Harvey Weinstein

by Hollywoodland

Oscar-winning film producer Harvey Weinstein entered Bill O’Reilly’s “No Spin Zone” last night, and the grouchy executive may still be spinning as you read this.

Weinstein was there to support some of his recent films, including the Oscar-bait biopic “My Week with Marilyn,” but the Fox News host opened with a salvo of political questions.

Harvey Weinstein

The longtime Democratic supporter took the bait, first waving away concern about President Barack Obama’s falling poll numbers – “they go up and down,” he says in a calm, dismissive tone – and then saying the president will breeze to re-election.

Then, the Obama worship really began in earnest.

How Obama Uses Late Night and How Late Night Loves To Be Used

by Ben Shapiro

[T]his is how it works in the world of late night.  The last election cycle saw the late night hosts go into overdrive for the Obama election campaign.  Between January 1, 2008 and July 31, 2008, the Center for Media and Public Affairs found that Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, and David Letterman made a grand total of 169 jokes about Obama, compared with 428 about Bush and 328 about McCain.  Comedy Central comedians were more even – Colbert made 129 jokes about McCain to 91 for Obama, and Stewart made more jokes about Obama than McCain, although the vast majority of jokes about Obama were fawning compliments and the vast majority about McCain were brutal slams.

Perhaps that was the real purpose of Obama’s routine appearances on late night television as president of the United States, an unprecedented breach of traditional decorum: he wanted to make it routine for all candidates to appear on the shows run by his allies.  By appearing himself, Obama essentially dared anyone who opposes him to take the seat opposite the Jon Stewarts and Jimmy Fallons of the world – and, as they have to, Republicans have taken the bait.  That’s why we’ve seen Rick Perry reading a top ten list on Letterman about his debate foibles.  That’s why Bachmann was on Fallon.  That’s why McCain deigned to appear with Stewart, even knowing what was coming.

Dennis Miller was both brave and correct when he bashed Jay Leno for kissing Obama’s royal arse last week.  He actually recommended that Leno hire Obama after Obama loses his re-election effort: “I could see you guys doing comedy bits on here where you come out as Carnut the Magnificent and you have the turban on and the mechanic overalls and he reads ‘You are correct, sir!’ off a teleprompter.”

More likely, Obama will end up hiring all of these comedians as his court jesters sometime in the near future.  Their ratings are dropping, and their biases are now obvious.  And we already know the relationships are good: the Comedy Central writers are Obama’s brain trust of hilarity, writing jokes for his speeches and giving him tips on how to win over an audience.

BREAKING: Sony Blinks, Pushes Release of Osama bin Laden Film To After 2012 Election

by John Nolte

Sony, director Kathryn Bigelow, and screenwriter Mark Boal will now have a full year to try and fix the damage done to this project after the attempt to politicize it created the kind of PR nightmare that can only bring death to the box office.

Over the past five years, a dozen-plus anti-war films have flopped at a 100% rate (Boal and Bigelow’s Oscar-winning “Hurt Locker” only grossed $17 million domestically — and in my opinion it did not look favorably on our military), and if that doesn’t prove the power New Media has to compete with and even defeat The Hollywood PR Machine, nothing does. Why Sony ever believed they could get away with  releasing into the 2012 election narrative a multi-million dollar feature focusing on one of President Obama’s very few successes is beyond me.

Sony’s plan was an obvious one. Not only would the release of the film in the crucial weeks leading up to the election bring this event back to the forefront of voter’s minds, it would also give Obama’s Media Palace Guards the excuse and cover they desire to resurrect this story just when the President might need it most. This was cynical, sinister, and the worst kind of exploitation of our Military.

I don’t give credit when people do what they should’ve done in the first place, but I am glad Sony came to their senses. However, their excuse for bumping the release date is a laugh-out-loud howler. Apparently they were askeert of Kevin James, you know, because his ”wacky shenanigans” might compete for the same ticket-buyers:

Sony Pictures has set Kathryn Bigelow‘s untitled hunt for Bin Laden drama (unofficially titled Kill Bin Laden) for December 19, 2012.  The studio had originally set the film for October 12, 2012, but moved it to make way for Kevin James‘ wacky shenanigans in Here Comes the Boom.

And if this is indeed the case, it’s almost as entertaining…

Your Obama Apologist of the Day: Chelsea Handler

by Hollywoodland

It’s not fair … nobody told Barack Obama being an effective leader would be so darn hard!

Comedienne Chelsea Handler thinks the president couldn’t have known what to expect when he rode the HopeNChange Express all the way to the White House in 2008.

Chelsea Handler

Handler shared her thoughts on President Obama recently with, who else, Piers Morgan on the Brit’s freakishly low-rated CNN show.

“I mean, everything is bought and paid for,” Handler said according to a transcript. “And I think anybody who has any sort of idealism, like Barack Obama, comes into … his position and, all of a sudden — you know, he has these dreams and he has these big ideas. People want to listen to him. He’s so vociferous about how he’s going to change the world. Then he gets into a situation where he had no idea that things were handled in a way that they were, that everything is bought, that everything is paid for, that there’s lobbyists, that there’s congressmen, and that you have to palliate all of these people. “

Your Obama Apologist of the Day: Sting

by Hollywoodland

British rocker Sting had had a home in the United States for decades but retains his British citizenship. Still, he’s got enough experience in U.S. celebrity circles to know the drill – it’s not President Barack Obama’s fault.

Sting, chatting up a reporter from Time magazine, decried the current state of political discourse in the country before weighing in on Obama’s track record as an environmental leader. The erstwhile Gordon Sumner took a page from the new playbook - just wait ’til his second term!

sting

As an environmentalist, how do you think the Obama Administration is doing?

I was disappointed when he abandoned plans to tighten smog standards [in September]. But I understand the realpolitik of being President. Hopefully, with a second term, he will be able to be greener.

The unintentional howler here is calling Sting an “environmentalist.”

Part Seven: Bringing America Home – The Expanding Tree of Useful Idiots

by Michael Moriarty

The Chicago Black Sox might appear to be about as American a corruption as possible.

Highly recent testimony to Chicago’s immortally blackened reputation, however, is here.

God bless Ann Coulter!!

Norman Rockwell The Dugout

Furthermore, after having channel-hopped two of the United States’ greatest film noir classics – 1954’s “On The Waterfront” and 1957’s “Sweet Smell of Success” – there is something misleadingly American about the disease still infecting the United States.

Both Chicago’s Unionized Obama Nation and New York’s Bloomberg Occupation on Wall Street?

To coin a relevant movie title, they are “The Swampy Smell of a Waterfront Success!” A “triumph” born of the string-pulling games played by pecking orders in power. A Grand Revival of Political Malevolence in the American Bloodstream is erupting out of the possibly inner-party, Republican opposition to Herman Cain. It not only smells of racism, according to Donald Trump’s accusations, but also of a political desperation that will eventually solidify Cain’s integrity and endurance.
