Rush on Breitbart: He Was a Big Lefty Until He Heard Me

by Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World!

If you tuned in to Rush Limbaugh yesterday, you probably caught El Rushbo talking about Andrew’s new book.  Rush reminds us that Andrew, yes, Andrew Breitbart, “was a big lefty until he heard me.”  Me, meaning…Rush Limbaugh.

John Hawkins of RightWing News: An Interview With Andrew Breitbart

by Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World!

John Hawkins of RightWing News recently interviewed Andrew Breitbart about his new book.  It’s a fun interview and a great read!

I always find it fascinating when people who used to be liberal say they turned to the right. That happened with you. Can you tell us about it?

Well, it’s a cliché from the left to the right. And it’s usually a story of opportunism in those few cases where the people move from the right to the left. It’s almost embarrassing to go back into my liberal background because it was about as shallow a belief system as humanly possible. It was go-along to get-along social. It was living in Los Angeles, being young, and single, and flowing with the trendy liberal crowd.

When I started to work in Hollywood at a fairly low level delivering scripts around town, listening to AM talk radio, I at first listened to it as a novelty. But I started to have certain things in my life going on such as living in a rent controlled apartment, having listened to the Clarence Thomas hearings, the OJ Simpson trial — I just started to see trends in my personal experiences that ran so contrary to what the media narratives were. At first I was flummoxed by it and then I just started to listen to certain people on the radio who were more clear thinking than the professors that I had in college.

I remember thinking when I was in college that a lot of these known Chomsky-like, verbose high lefty thinkers made absolutely no sense but I thought that was my problem. So when I started to listen to conservative thinkers and to read conservative thinkers, there was a clarity of thought. It wasn’t muddled. It wasn’t confusing. It started to make sense at an intellectual level and tie into the values that my parents gave me when I was a young kid that I diverted from when I was in high school.

So it was basically a reconnecting with everything that my parents attempted to instill in me in my youth. It has made me sleep a lot better at night, being centered and oriented with human nature as opposed to living in a world of self loathing nihilism, trying to undo human nature, and trying to create a path towards an unrealistic utopia.

Now, you were recently banned from the front page of The Huffington Post….

Oh, the tragedy of my life.

(Laughs) It is, it is. Apparently you made some sort of ad hominem attack on Van Jones and The Huffington Post has a policy against that. It must have been in place for at least two minutes or so before you were banned. Can you talk about that?

Misogynist Matters: Left-Wing Furor Over Planned Parenthood Videos Proves They Hit the Mark

by Greg Gutfeld

So Live Action unleashed more undercover videos filmed at Planned Parenthood clinics. In the latest, the pranksters, posing as a pimp and prostitute, told the case worker that they run a “sex work” clinic with 14 and 15 year old girls. They then asked how to bring them in for abortions or STD tests without getting caught.

Naturally, lefties like Media Matters said these vids were no big deal. Yet, because of these tapes, they’ve joined 26 progressive groups in pleading to Congress not to defund Planned Parenthood.

So what’s it gunna be – a big deal, or no big deal?

Well, if the angry left must circle its wagons around PP, then it’s a HUGE deal.

These idiots, though, fail to realize that it’s too late: PP has already admitted they’re wrong – by firing the guilty. And now, the organization announced it will retrain thousands of staff members – and also can anyone who doesn’t comply when it came to reporting minors in trouble.

So this prank was a massive, vital success, for it exposed a horrible flaw in the ideology of confidentiality that allows sexual abuse to occur.

Yet Media Matter’s Eric Boehlert tweets mockingly about it.

(They should change the name to Misogynist Matters.)

‘Media Matters’ Hysterical Reponse to Breitbart GOProud Appointment Targets ‘Big Hollywood’

by John Nolte

As some of you might already know, Andrew Breitbart has joined the advisory council of GOProud, an organization determined to prove “gay conservative” is not an oxymoron. Some of you might also have heard of billionaire George Soros’ not-for-profit, 501 (c)(3)  Media Matters, which is an oxymoron the IRS should show a little interest in. Hilariously, Andrew has been living rent-free in Media Matters’ head for as long as I’ve known them both and their unrelenting obsession with his every move, tweet, and word could easily compete with the notebooks found in the apartment of Kevin Spacey’s serial killer in “Se7en.”

Here’s the title of their hysterical 2,300 word response to the announcement of Andrew’s new association with GOProud:

After Promoting Anti-Gay Rhetoric, Breitbart is Named to Gay Group’s Board

And what have endless hours of Senior Fellowing through two full years of Big Hollywood writings dug up?

Rep. Frank Should “Stop Phoning Every Number He Finds Scrawled On Bathroom Walls.”

Could someone please explain to to those with the Indian name Abusers of 501(c)(3), the difference between criticizing grotesquely offensive behavior unbecoming of a congressman (a brothel was run out of Frank’s house by his former boyfriend) and anti-anything?

A Birthday Note For Media Matters’ Eric Boehlert

by Greg Gutfeld

So it was Eric Boehlert’s birthday last night, and no one noticed.

Well, except for me. I sent the Media Matters mope a bouquet of edible underwear – since it may be one of the few things George Soros won’t pay for.

But what a gloomy day for E-B. He has just one job: watching Fox News in his tie-dye onesie… and he even screwed that up. Days ago, his hive of hacks mistook a Leno skit for a Fox Special Report clip. And this caused them to issue a “regret the error” note.

Now – don’t get me wrong. This is NOT a big deal. People make mistakes like this all the time. I probably made seven of them in the last sentence. So no gloating over here.

However, it should offer a moment of contemplation for Eric, as that curved line of middle age descends toward death: this is what you do for a living, and you don’t do it well.

Think about it. Your job is to focus all of your energies on “media bias.” But because the media world – i.e. television news, motion pictures, the art world, news papers, academia, all forms of pop music and pop culture in general – are liberal- it only leaves your progressive outfit with one real target.

And that’s Fox News. So that’s got to tell you something: if your time is consumed needling just one outlet – that says you’re barnacled to the bloated side of liberal bias. Or, you would have many more targets.

Simple, no? (more…)

ABC News Caves Completely to Intolerant Left, Cancels Breitbart Election Night Appearance

by Hollywoodland

After flying Andrew Breitbart all the way out to Phoenix, Arizona yesterday to participate in an online Townhall election event, after taking him out of his home state, away from his business, and nearly making it impossible for him to vote in today’s crucial midterm election (though he’s on an airplane now in order to cast his ballot), at about as close to the last minute as you can get, Andrew Morse, chief of the ABC News digital division, sent the following email late this afternoon abruptly canceling Breitbart’s appearance:

We have spent the past several days trying to make clear to you your limited role as a participant in our digital town hall to be streamed on ABC News.com and Facebook. The post on your blog last Friday created a widespread impression that you would be analyzing the election on ABC News. We made it as clear as possible as quickly as possible that you had been invited along with numerous others to participate in our digital town hall. Instead of clarifying your role, you posted a blog on Sunday evening in which you continued to claim a bigger role in our coverage. As we are still unable to agree on your role, we feel it best for you not to participate.

This is yet another obvious attempt to build a narrative that puts the blame on Breitbart when the truth is that this is nothing more than ABC News caving in to and attempting to appease the organized left’s outrage machine that went into full astroturf mode after Breitbart’s ABC News appearance was made public.

ABCnews

As a reminder as to who’s exaggerating, here is exactly how Breitbart’s election night townhall event was described by an ABC News producer to him in an email:

This program will broadcast on the ABC Television Network, abcnews.com, ABC News Now, and ABC News Radio. …

The show will be live on the web and ABC News Now as well as on the network from 4:00pm till 11:00pm MST.

With this in mind and in writing, here is how Big Journalism announced Breitbart’s ABC News appearance: (more…)

NYT: Jon Stewart’s ‘Restore Sanity’ Will ‘Parody’ Glenn Beck’s ‘Religious-Themed Rally’

by John Nolte

Didn’t Jon Stewart tell the media “Restore Sanity” was not a response to Glenn Beck? Yes, he did.

jon-stewart-superfreakonomics-climate

According to what the New York Times has dug up, Jon Stewart’s “Restore Sanity” rally tomorrow looks an awful lot like a direct rebuttal and pro-active, pre-planned attempt to ridicule Glenn Beck’s late-August “Restore Honor” event (right down to the awards). If what the Times has discovered is true, it’s yet another hit on Stewart’s already embattled credibility as he has explicitly told the press that he was not planning a Beck counter-rally. Stewart’s rally airs commercial-free tomorrow on Comedy Central from noon to three ET.

Here are some details via the NYT:

An early rundown of the event, shared by the National Parks Service, which issued the permit for the event, listed a first hour dominated by musical acts (including The Roots), with Mr. Stewart and Mr. Colbert performing largely in the second hour, and more musicians (including Sheryl Crow) and a taped, fake-awards conclusion in the third hour. Other guest stars are likely to appear. One on the list is Don Novello, who played Father Guido Sarducci years ago on “Saturday Night Live.” He is expected to offer an opening comic benediction, almost surely intended as a parody of the religious-themed rally headed by Mr. Beck.

How Insulated Can You Be?: ‘American Prospect’ Claims Obama Too Awesome For Comedic Ridicule

by Jeffrey Jena

I was surfing the internet yesterday and came across an article about the current state of political comedy by Paul Waldman. The article “The Joke is on Us” was posted on the far-left website “The American Prospect.” The subtitle of the site is “liberal intelligence” which is, of course, an oxymoron. That aside, the premise of Mr. Waldman’s article is that there is a dearth of humor about Barack Obama. It reminds me of when Nixon was elected and New York Times film critic Pauline Kael being shocked because only one person she knew voted for him.

Obama_mad-magazine-cover

Mr. Waldman postulates that this lack of Obama material is because Obama is so cool, so intelligent, and so unflappable that he is immune to being made the butt of any jokes! He actually says, “…our current political leadership isn’t all that funny.”  I assume he includes the Vice President in that statement – so apparently he and I hear different Joe Biden sound bites. I strongly doubt he has ever listened to Rush or Glen who daily skewer Obama, Reid and Pelosi.

Mr. Waldman, like Ms. Kael suffers from having a limited circle of exposure.

Before I get further into that, let me just say a big “thank you” to Mr. Waldman for reinforcing a concept that I have written about several times: Conservatives have a better sense of humor and are more willing to be self-deprecating than lefties. You see, my fellow right-wing nut jobs, in Walden World, Bush, Rush, Palin and anyone else who isn’t hastening the “Marxization” of America is a moron who should be belittled for their obvious lack of intellect. Leftist, on the other hand, never do anything foolish. All of their causes are above mocking.  Let me illustrate: (more…)

My Muslim Gay Bar: Left Suddenly Not So Interested in Gay Rights

by Greg Gutfeld

So during “Greg’sGayBarGate,” there’s been the usual piffle from the humorless left – all who accuse me of provocation.

The best, of course, arrive from Media Matters – home to lonely, middle-aged men who still write “FAIL” in their tweets.

gay_muslims2_080710_mn

Here’s Simon Maloy, a senior associate master fellow emeritus:

Make no mistake — Gutfeld’s motives are offensive. He thinks the way to justify his own religious intolerance and that of his conservative cohorts is to mock Muslims and gay people.

Of course, he offers no evidence of said religious intolerance.

(seriously, Simon, dad had bigger dreams for you.)

Anyway, when half-wits are half-right, does that make them a quarter- cretinous? Perhaps. But hey, they are correct that my Islamic gay bar is a provocation. But it wasn’t directed at Muslims (for them, it’s actually a sincere gesture). (more…)

JournoList: …Yes, But the Reporters at Pravda Weren’t Such Insufferable Assholes

by Andrew Breitbart

Journalists love whistleblowers. Just not when the whistle is blown on them.

Journalists love transparency. As long as they’re not the ones being exposed.

No steadfast journalism rule is unbendable when it comes to justifying and protecting the racket that is modern journalism, specifically, political journalism in the United States today. The ends justify the means for the Democrat Media Complex. They lie when they claim to be objective. They lie when they claim to be unbiased, because these so called “truth seekers” are guilty of engaging in open political warfare. And when the whistle is blown, they simply double down. “Journolist” — like Media Matters, but more insidious, if that’s possible — is an attempt to put the genie back in the bottle, technology and “the masses” uncovered the conspiracy:

Obama Press

Talk radio and the Internet have allowed outsiders the ability to challenge a multiple generational shift from journalism being about the story, to journalism being crafted toward a partisan end. From Newsweek killing the Lewinsky story to the Swift Boat veterans (until the undermedia pressure got too big) to the Dan Rather implosion to the open attempt to keep the Al Gore masseuse story under wraps to the John Edwards/Rielle Hunter debacle to the Van Jones admission of missing the story to the networks ignoring the ACORN video footage to the media playing up trumped up charges of racism in the Tea Party — while ignoring exculpatory evidence — to the mother of all media-as-political weaponry: the non-vetting of candidate Obama, the mainstream media has shown that it is in an ideological death spiral. And the ground is right here.

American journalism died a long time ago; today Tucker Carlson got around to running the obituary. What The Daily Caller has unearthed proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that most media organizations are either complicit by participation in the treachery that is Journolist, or are guilty of sitting back and watching Alinsky warfare being waged against all that challenged the progressive orthodoxy. The scandal predictably involves journalists posing as professors posing as experts. But dressed down they are nothing but street thugs. They deserve the deepest levels of public consternation. We must demand that they do. (more…)

‘JournoList’ E-mails Show Media Plotting to Kill Stories about Reverend Jeremiah Wright: Daily Caller

by Hollywoodland

JournoList scandal is back and prepare for it to be a driving force in the news for quite some time. The Daily Caller published an article tonight indicating they’ve obtained emails from the JournoList and the initial details are as damning as we expected when the list-serv, founded by the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein in 2007, surfaced with the Dave Weigel kerfuffle last month.

Snippets from the article below, but make sure to read the whole thing at the Daily Caller and return to Big Journalism early and often as we unpack the details that emerge and track the fallout from this seminal event in the history of left-wing media bias. It’s unclear exactly what the Daily Caller has, but there’s certainly no indication from this article they’ve already laid all their cards out on the table.

liberal media bias

According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage.

In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.” (more…)

Daily Gut: Website Devolves Into Lazy Perverts’ Dream Come True

by Greg Gutfeld

So, as you know, Chatroulette is a website that instantly hooks up strangers for online yakfests. Visitors – which there are millions, daily – come there to talk about crap, and then bolt when they lose interest. This amazing new site has wowed investors, and it could make its young Russian inventor rich beyond his wildest dreams.

If it were not for the penises.

chat_roulette

Yep: People are fleeing the site, as more and more men are showing up only to flash their shortcomings to shocked and sickened strangers. Chatroulette has become a lazy perverts dream: you can nauseate thousands of people, without ever leaving your basement. Just like Media Matters.

Anyway, this disturbing story illustrates two supreme truths:

1. That wherever there is new, exciting technology, sex will crash the party. I’m sure moments after Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, he tried to have sex on it. I can’t say I blame him.

Those cotton gins are sexy. (more…)

Daily Gut: Media Matters — Weekend Weasals

by Greg Gutfeld

If you’re like me, and congratulations if you are, then you try to enjoy your weekends. For example, I spent last Saturday in bed, watching my favorite soaps, eating donut holes basted in Nyquil. I call them happy holes – after seven of them, you think you’re an Angoran rabbit.

1480_NpAdvHover

And this leads me to a key life lesson: Nyquil rules. But also: you know you’ve truly succeeded in life when your adversaries aren’t having fun on their weekends. When someone who hates you spends their Saturdays consumed by hating you, then you can safely say, you’ve won – without even raising a finger.

I mention this because I received a press release, on Saturday…yes, on Saturday…from none other than Media Matters. Yep. Instead of playing t-ball with their kids (or their ferrets dressed as kids), this outlet of internal misery just had to publish a press release about Fox News’s coverage of Haiti. Yep, while everyone else tries to do actual stuff – Media Matters is still using the earthquake to hammer its number-one enemy/one true love. (more…)

Daily Gut: Danny Glover Is a Tool

by Greg Gutfeld

The fact that Danny Glover is a monumental chucklehead should surprise no one. He’s been spouting batpoop crazy nonsense for years. But now, he’s even topped himself, as the washed-up actor blames the Haiti earthquake on the response to the climate change conference. Check it out, check it outers.

What a tool. Now this guy is supposed to be an expert or something- but instead of identifying the obvious – that areas rife with political corruption and its resulting poverty often experience more devastation after a natural disaster – he blames it all on our justifiably cynical response to Copenhagen. Clearly, global warming has infected his brain so severely, that he cannot think straight. This could also explain why he did Saw V.

glover_and_chavez

But Glover pales in comparison to Media Matters. While people struggle to come to terms with horrifying human suffering, what does this pathetic “media watchdog group” do? They release a “study” focusing on the amount of coverage Fox News devoted to the quake. Which, again, shows what happens when ideology pickles your brain. Rather than come to terms with real suffering – all they see is…. Fox News. And all they want to see, is Fox News.

Let me quote Eric Burns, Captain of Twerps R Us. (more…)

‘Sesame Street’: It’s About My Children, Not the Puppet

by Larry O'Connor

2008856992

Just as I suspected, it has happened.  They are trying to “Falwell” me and my colleagues here at Big Hollywood for raising concerns about “Sesame Street’s” description of Fox News as “Trashy.” We are “stupid,” “idiotic” and we are whining and pathetic (impressive debate tactics there, Mr. Socrates).  And, according to PBS’ own Ombudsman, Michael Gelter, we are….  right:

I don’t know what was in the head of the producers, but my guess is that this was one of those parodies that was too good to resist. But it should have been resisted. Broadcasters can tell parents whatever they think of Fox or any other network, but you shouldn’t do it through the kids

I was planning on letting the issue die after being romanced by Media Matters, but I noticed something fascinating.  I’ve written here about a lot of subjects.  Mostly about theatre and the arts, and I also defended that “racist-fascist” Rush Limbaugh,  but, never has a post of mine gotten the kind of hate-filled comments this one did.  Also, for the first time I started receiving hate e-mails… the long, rambling, Holden Caufield kind of e-mails (you can forgive me for feeling a little “Grouchy”).  What gives?  Why was this post different? Podesta Spends Soros’ Money Stupidly

by Andrew Breitbart

This week’s Washington Times column:

A telling event occurred on Sept. 15, Day 6 of the drip, drip, drip ACORN video rollout. President Obama met for lunch with former President Bill Clinton at trendy Il Mulino in New York City.

For the second consecutive day, the New York Post featured the ACORN scandal on its cover – complete with James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles in their outrageous “pimp and ho” costumes.

Does anyone think the president and the former president were unaware that the city in which they were dining was mesmerized by the ACORN scandal – especially since ACORN had bragged that its employees had kicked Mr. O’Keefe and Ms. Giles out of their New York office?

The Sept. 15 edition of the New York Post explored the political angles and directed attention to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s investigation into why an ACORN office in its jurisdiction helped instruct a prospective brothel owner how to hide his prostitution proceeds in a tin in his backyard.

No one in the morally superior media world has asked, why did Mr. Obama have lunch with Mr. Clinton that day? So let me take a guess, and it seems like an obvious answer. Mr. Obama, under siege by a video-a-day expose that was exposing the Democratic Party to an avalanche of consequences (ACORN defunded in the House and Senate, ACORN delinked from the census, etc.), needed advice from the last president to navigate through a major political scandal.
