Belafonte on Herman Cain: ‘Totally False’ and ‘A Bad Apple’

by Hollywoodland

Aging crooner Harry Belafonte wants us to know Herman Cain is one “bad apple,” someone for whom prayers weren’t created.

Belafonte, hitting the talk show circuit to promote his new memoir ‘Sing Your Song,’ blasted the Republican presidential candidate on ‘The Joy Behar Show.’

Here’s Belafonte responding to Cain’s recent comments about how racism isn’t holding black people back “in a big way [today].”

“It’s very hard to comment on someone who is so denied intelligence,” Belafonte said, “someone who has denied such a view of history.”

“Because he happened to have good fortune hit him, he had a moment where he broke through … does not make him the authority of the plight of people with color.”

But Belafonte was just getting started.

Before Donald Trump Returns to ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ Americans Owe Him Our Thanks

by John Nolte

For policy reasons, unless he won the nomination to challenge our failed President, I never would have voted for Trump, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t do our America a great service and at great personal cost. Thanks to this billionaire businessman/reality show host, the Birther issue is no longer something the MSM and White House can conspire to turn into a cynical political weapon in order to label everyday Americans as racist. Going into 2012, this is a huge tactical loss for Obama and his MSM Palace Guards, and we have Donald Trump to thank for that.

For doing the MSM’s job — for demanding a sitting president release a document reasonable Americans asked to see — Trump was unfairly held up for public ridicule and dishonestly labeled racist. And even though he deserved neither, even with the heat raining down on him from all four corners of his life, including those cowards in Hollywood,  Trump showed great courage in stepping into the arena and taking the fight directly to the White House in the face of unbelievable pressure.

And don’t ever forget that Trump won. Obama blinked and the Birther issue was disarmed.

I’m no Birther, never was. But doesn’t mean I didn’t see how the MSM and White House were using this issue to their political advantage.

Until Trump came along.

Frustrated in Defeat, ‘View’ Crew Trashes Trump as ‘Racist’

by John Nolte

—-

Why so angry, Whoopi? Joy?

Let’s back up a little…

I’m no Birther, I simply believe that the White House and MSM teamed up to keep the birth certificate issue alive as a weapon to use against the Right. As an example, nothing made NBC’s David Gregory happier than to ask a conservative about the issue and subsequently nothing made the rest of the corrupt media happier than to amplify that moment and use it to drown out the conservative political message. So instead of the MSM doing their job and educating the public — as they did when McCain’s place of birth was questioned — they chose to palace-guard Obama and join in on the racial smearing. This was all about fundraising, distracting, and dividing. Or, what we call standard operating procedure when it comes to our friends on the Left.

The bottom line is that Donald Trump did the media’s job for them, the President (finally) did the right thing, the MSM has egg on their face, and the moment that birth certificate dropped the Left as a whole knew they lost a powerful political weapon. I vehemently disagreed with the Birthers but at the same time understood the cynical politics behind the White House and MSM’s decision to keep the Birthers ginned up. So today is a major win for our side and we have Trump to thank for it. Long story short…

‘Hall Pass’ Review: The First Truly Awful Film of the Year

by John P. Hanlon

“Hall Pass” is the first truly terrible motion picture of 2011. Filled with gross-out comedy and a lame plot, the story feels like a sitcom gone bad. Diehard fans of the Farrelly Brothers and their brand of lowbrow humor might enjoy “Hall Pass” but most viewers should take a pass on this disgusting film.

The Farrelly Brothers, who previously directed “There’s Something about Mary” and “Shallow Hal” (which are both highly superior to “Hall Pass”) , directed this comedy and helped write the screenplay.  Unfortunately, the writers couldn’t come up with anything better than a few lame jokes and crude humor that falls flat.

—–

Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis star as Rick and Fred, two longtime buddies who have an affinity for saying and doing offensive things in front of their wives. Although they’re married to two beautiful woman, played by Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate, the men still like to check out other women in front of their wives. Their wives are disappointed and disgusted with them so Joy Behar, who plays their friend Lucy, offers them a suggestion. She tells the women to give their husbands a week off from marriage. During that period, the men are allowed to do whatever they want and sleep with whomever they choose. Both wives begrudgingly agree and give their husbands “hall passes.”  The story then chronicles the week of freedom in the men’s lives.

If the premise isn’t cringe-worthy enough, the lame attempts at comedy should be. There is, as seems to be commonplace in comedies like this, a sequence where different characters in the story take drugs and viewers are expected to laugh at their outrageous behavior. (I wish comedy writers could come up with something better than giving characters drugs and then watching how stupid they act.) In “Hall Pass,” one of the men who takes drugs decides to go to the bathroom on a golf course. That, along with much of the comedy in this film, might be funny for twelve year old boys but few others would probably laugh watching a grown man humiliate himself.

‘Hall Pass’ Review: Farrelly Brothers Return to Form

by Carl Kozlowski

Being a married guy is a tricky proposition. On the one hand, they have the security and stability of domestic life.  And on the other hand, many men often wish they could still roam wild and free, ogling or even hitting on anything that moves. But what do you do when 20 years of marriage start to grate on you?

Do you slide into silent resentment of each other? Or do you possibly give yourself and your spouse a “hall pass’ – a week off from marriage that’s designed to let you take a walk on the wild side in the hopes of making you appreciate each other again?

—–

That’s the intriguing premise of “Hall Pass,” the latest outrageous comedy from writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly. The film follows the antics of Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis), good family men who are nonetheless horny and bored from years of family life.

Their wives (played by Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer) encounter a psychiatrist (Joy Behar), who suggests the “hall pass” to save their marriages. But as the guys are cheered on by their chorus of buddies, they find that hooking up is way harder than they remember.

And as their wives head off on their own weeklong vacation, they find surprising temptations of their own.

“Hall Pass” is easily the funniest movie the Farrelly Brothers have made since their trio of classics in the 1990s: “Dumb and Dumber,” “Kingpin” and “There’s Something About Mary.” It’s a welcome return to no-holds-barred yet clever raunch after they fell off track into sentimentality with “Stuck on You” and “Fever Pitch.”

Dr. Drew Pinsky: Pop Culture Icon, Free Market Hero

by Christian Toto

CNN’s Headline News division might not know what it’s getting into by hiring Dr. Drew Pinsky to anchor a nightly broadcast in 2011. The media savvy doctor, the addiction medicine specialist behind “Loveline” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” should be the go-to guy for the latest Lindsay Lohan meltdown.

—–

But there’s another side to the good doctor, one recently revealed on “The Adam Carolla Podcast.” The Nov. 26 podcast, which reteamed Pinsky with his old “Loveline” partner, found the duo railing against government overreach while praising the free market system. You won’t find that kind of material on HLN’s “The Joy Behar Show.”

It’s grand news for conservatives, who might hear their opinions shared by that rare TV personality outside the Fox News bubble. And Pinsky isn’t a divisive figure like former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin or Rush Limbaugh. He’s not viewed through an ideological prism, so when he pontificates on a topic it has the chance to stir the independent crowd to action. He might even make a liberal or two rethink an entrenched opinion.

Behar likely won’t be swayed, though. (more…)

For Joy Behar, Some Defamation is More Equal Than Others

by Jack L. Treese, CWO US Army, Retired

Sandra Bernhard called Bristol Palin a “hooker” on the “Joy Behar Show” while the rest of her panel concurred by offering up more degrading remarks in support of Bernhard. Not surprising that Behar concurs with Bernhard, as she is fond of name-calling too. She has compared former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to Hitler.  She called Sharon Angle a “bitch” and said she was “going to Hell.”

Being a devout anti-Christian, it seems hypocritical that she believes in Hell at all.

If Behar doesn’t understand the facts or she can’t defend her point of view through rational thought she resorts to name-calling.  When Bill O’Reilly referred to the terrorist of 9/11 as “Muslim killers” she called it “hate speech” and stormed off stage with her pal Whoppi Goldberg in a fit of childish indignation. So it’s OK for her to lie and call people names but when O’Reilly states something that is a fact, it’s “hate speech.” Behar’s name-calling cannot be backed up by any logical facts, but the facts do prove that she is a left-wing wacko and those that sit in her audience and applaud her rabid discourse are no better. Yes I am name-calling here, but at least my name-calling is based on facts.

Sandra Bernhard and Behar, though not twins, are of course likeminded (like Bubba and Forrest): One of Bernhard’s “famous” quotes I found on the Internet iss: “The real terrorist threats are George W. Bush and his brown-shirted thugs.” Just like Behar, she compares Republicans to Hitler. She also referred to a Republican woman as a “thin-lipped bitch,” and to Sarah Palin’s Christianity as “new goyish crappy shiksa funky bullshit.” Not bad for a comedian ranked in the top 100, well somewhere in the top 90. Michael Moore Doesn’t Speak for Me

by Alfonzo Rachel

I found myself in a bit of a grouchy mood when cud-chewer Michael Moore said something to the effect of White America bein’ all mad about a black president.

Really? It was the white vote that got him elected. And if you’re so sure about your statement, then does that mean you (Michael Moore) have a problem with Obama based on his ethnicity?

Is there somethin’ you’re trying to avoid telling us? Looks to me like you’re trying to mitigate your own bigotry by broad-brushing everybody with your disposition. That’s right. You’re projecting, you miserable jackass; which makes sense because you’re a socialist and you expect people to share in a miserable existence.

I’m sick of white liberals like Michael Moore who patronize black people and try to stay in their good graces by falsely accusing white people of racism, and then try to further validate it with some bogus display of self effacement.  This joker is a prime example of how white democrats feel that they’re the ones who are tuned in to the black community. They can speak for us. They know us, and where that notion comes from is due to them thinking that they own us. (more…)

Joy Behar: Biblical Views On Homosexuality Lead to Bullying

by John Nolte

—–

Transcript via our friends at NewsBusters, who have more on the “comedian-cum-theologian“:

Rev. JOEL OSTEEN: But if you came to our church, Joy, you would see people from all walks of life. We don’t have a sign at the door no gays, no drunkards, no people on drugs. We’re for everybody, we’re not against people. So we’re helping them to become –

JOY BEHAR: But when you say that the Bible is against gays, that makes people get bullied, and bad things happen to people because of what the people say about that.

Does this mean that the Bible stating your body is a temple leads to fat kids being bullied? Does this mean that the Bible’s opposition to fornication leads to unmarried couples living together being bullied? What about those who covet or don’t honor their mother and father or who use the Lord’s name in vain?

Gregg Opelka

Jon Stewart, The Coffee Party, and the Insanity of Sanity

by Gregg Opelka

Jon Stewart’s October 30th bout of rally envy—despite the comedian’s rickety attempts to disavow the patently invidious nature of the convocation—was hubristically (not to mention wishfully) titled “Restoring Sanity.” (Because of its obvious facetiousness, the Colbertian “Restoring Fear” portion of the event deserves no mention here.)

stewart and colbert

The danger of Stewart’s shedding his Daily Show mask of irony and becoming a full-fledged, Obama-style community-organizing activist is that in officially adopting the views of one political party over another, he devalues the only currency of the satirist—impartiality. Because human folly is an equal opportunity character flaw, the successful satirist must not take sides. He must be able to sling arrows in all directions, else the only thing he has to peddle—the precious honesty of his criticism—is called into question. A satirist who exposes the foibles of one political party and excuses those of the other is as useful as a bus that only goes in one direction. The bus company itself would soon also only go in one direction—out of business.

Those (I suspect Mr. Stewart is among them) who claim that the “Restoring Rally” was apolitical—just a modern-day Woodstock with shorter hair and fewer hallucinogens, a Peace Train plea for reason and temperance—are either dupes or practitioners of a cunning form of political artifice.

Oprah Slams Joy(less) Behar, Barbara Walters: Bans Word ‘Bitch’ On New Network

by Hollywoodland

UPDATE: Feeling the heat, Behar backtracks, takes “bitch” back. In other news, Behar helps power Angle’s fundraising efforts to unseat Reid.

ee

How will television’s living symbol of ex-wifery respond to Oprah Winfrey’s rebuke? Joyless Behar can’t fire back, by her own twisted worldview that would be racist.

Hollywood Reporter:

Don’t expect Oprah to go down market on her network OWN, launching in January.

In a speech at Maria Shriver’s Women’s Conference, she said her cable net will be “fun and entertaining without tearing people down and calling them bitches. Imagine that. Imagine.”

Classy Sharron Angle Responds to Hateful Joy Behar with … Flowers

by John Nolte

UPDATE: Behar responds to Angle’s flowers by once again calling her a “bitch”:

“I would like to point out that those flowers were picked by illegal immigrants & they’re not voting for you, bitch.”

End update.

Class versus crass. Good humor versus the inability to feel your own first name. Well-crafted gamesmanship versus white hot hate.

Bravo, Ms. Angle — you have the makings of a stateswoman, compared to Joyless Behar who has the makings of every man’s ex-wife.

Via NRO, here’s what Joyless received from the Angle campaign today — a thank you note and flowers:

“Joy, Raised $150,000 online yesterday. Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Sharron Angle”

FlowersforJoy

If Barbara Walters had a lick of sense (or class), she’d boot the hate-filled, foul-mouthed Behar and use Angle’s example when looking for a replacement. Feisty, smart, independent, and conservative. But Babs has a left-wing agenda to push, knows her ideas are losers, and fully understands from her years on broadcast television that outnumbering conservatives four-to-one is her only hope.

Giving intolerance and venom a daily platform is a sad way to close a legacy.

Joy Behar on Sharron Angle: That Bitch is Going to Hell

by Hollywoodland

Picture of elitists in action… Remember, only the hens of The View have the sober, thoughtful, “That Bitch Is Going to Hell,” ability to think through their vote in a serious and well reasoned manner. The rest of us, however, must be controlled because once our knees enjoy a jerk we vote only with wild, reckless emotional abandon, especially after counting the number of Caucasian kids in a campaign commercial.

And what about the hen-house effect? How much CO2 poisoned the atmosphere after this particular fingernails-on-a-chalkboard exchange? (more…)

What’s the Difference Between a Tea Party and Oscar Night? You See Black People at Tea Parties

by Pam Meister

For an industry peopled by so-called progressive types who love to bash their ideological opposites as racist bigots who want to oppress anyone who doesn’t check the “Caucasian” box on those obnoxious affirmative action questionnaires on employment applications, it sure seems funny that

…there’s a real possibility that for the first time since the 73rd Oscars 10 years ago, there will be no black nominees in any of the acting categories at the February ceremony. In fact, there are virtually no minorities in any of the major categories among the early lists of awards hopefuls.

80th_Oscar_Kodak_Theatre
What the liberal media might call a “predominantly white” crowd…

I mean, we have the likes of Cher wondering why anyone who isn’t white, rich and Christian would want to be a Republican. Brilliant political mind John Cusack supports the idea of a “Satanic death cult center” outside of Fox News headquarters. Actor John Hamm agreed the Tea Party is a racist institution – on the show hosted by a guy who is upset that President Obama doesn’t act like a “real black president” with a “gun in his pants.” And white comedienne (?) Joy Behar says that only the majority (read: white people) can be racist. Well, I guess as a white chick, she should know. Plus, she studied sociology in college and everything!

Yes, these are the people who believe they set the social narrative in America. And yet…and yet…they don’t seem to live up to their own hype! I mean, here we have what might be the first Oscar night in 10 years with no ethnic minority actors/actresses nominated for an acting award. My goodness, what will George “Smug” Clooney have to say about it?

Actually, considering the high amount of tripe coming out of Hollywood lately, I should think that those excluded from the nominee list would be thrilled by their narrow escape. (more…)

RightNetwork Inspires Fear and Loathing From the Left

by Brian Cherry

What annoys liberals more than anything else?  Free Speech and intellectual honesty are probably high on the list of things that give them intestinal cramps.  Considering what I have seen of the anti-war rallies and the folks who proudly wear the ACORN shirt while signing up homeless people to vote three or four times (in the same election), I would also say that soap is probably high on their enemies list as well.  All of that aside, what they really seem to hate is when people who don’t share their worldview invade what they perceive as their turf.  The RightNetwork has crossed the imaginary line in the entertainment sand and sent the left into a rage-filled attempt to abort this infant network before it can really establish itself and slap the  Hollywood elite around the way that Fox News does to MSNBC and CNN on a daily basis.

scaredBaby

Before we get into their outward expressions of anger and disdain, along with the associated hypocrisy and contradictions, we need to understand why they are so mad.  In the world of the left, domination of the airwaves is not a battle of ratings but rather an ideological jihad they are attempting to perpetrate.  That is why they get so unhinged whenever something that would get a smile out of Charlton Heston tries to take hold in the media.   Liberals lost the radio war so badly that they now want the government to legislate a victory for them by making the free market of political thought on the AM dial illegal.  That is what the “the Fairness Doctrine” is all about.  Also, most of the “Hopey/Changey” crowd is either apoplectic about losing the cable media war to Fox News  or are still in the same sort of denial about it that keeps Britney Spears thinking that she is a dominant force in the music industry.

While being forced into whatever the media equivalent of “tapping out” is on these two fronts, they are violently opposing the RightNetwork; a cable channel aimed at the vast audience of people who have come to the conclusion that Hollywood hates them.  The visceral reaction to the RightNetwork by the left tells us everything we need to know about them, their feelings about free speech in the marketplace of ideas, and what they think about the viewing audience in general.   (more…)

Something ‘Right’ This Way Comes… RightNetwork Launches Today

by Chris Burgard

Awhile back my wife and I were thinking about selling our California ranch and moving to Texas. We had made a film about the border, called… Border

Texans and the rest of America seemed to dig the film. Hollywood? Not so much.

After sixteen states on the promo tour, countless packed theatres, great reviews and two screenings for Congress, I had yet another audience member grab my arm and ask “When is Hollywood going to make more films like this? Can you tell them to make movies that we want to see?”

—–

“Ma’am,” I would explain, “If Hollywood wanted to make more films like Border, right now I would be in the middle of a three picture studio deal instead of on a bus tour of the South Eastern United States. I’m sorry but I don’t have an answer for you. “ She was a very nice lady. I hated to disappoint her.

So last fall I’m kicking back in the barn, flipping through the ranch real estate section of Farm and Ranch magazine when the phone rings. It’s Kip Perry, co-owner of Echo Entertainment. Echo had been around for 23 years. They had cut their teeth on movie trailers for Disney and sports shows for ESPN. They had done a few TV series, and now Kip wanted to take me out to lunch.

Lunch was good. Small, but good. We went to a very trendy Hollywood European style restaurant where everybody has the option to sit with strangers and get their food on a board. I loved the spread. It was tasty, cute and very petite. Just as Kip was about to go into his pitch, I had to stop him: “Dude, I’m sorry. This food tastes great, and looks even better, but I’m still hungry. I need to order another lunch.”  (more…)
