George Lucas Slams Hollywood: ‘Red Tails’ Too ‘Black’ and American For Studios

by John Nolte

Watch George Lucas pitch “Red Tails” directly to conservatives and American patriots.

—–

Lucas describes “Red Tails” as “very patriotic,” “very jingoistic,” “old-fashioned” and “corny.”

NewsBusters:

“I showed it to all [the studios] and they said, ‘No. We don’t know how to market a movie like this.”

When Stewart asked why, Lucas first responded, “Because it’s not green enough. They only release green movies.”

The filmmaker clarified, “It’s because it’s an all black movie. There’s no major white roles in it at all. It’s one of the first all black action pictures ever made.” ….

Sadder still was how Hollywood balked given the message Lucas was trying to convey.

“I wanted to make it inspirational for teenaged boys. I wanted to show that they have heroes, they’re real American heroes, they’re patriots that helped to make the country what it is today. And it’s not glory where you have a lot of white officers running these guys into cannon fodder. It’s like a real, they were real heroes.”

Stewart Trots Out Race Card Just in Time for Presidential Election Season

by Christian Toto

If you’re Jon Stewart, you know you can’t point to President Barack Obama’s record and say, “just check the re-election box here.”

So that means Stewart and his fellow humorists, who more often than not set entertainment criteria aside to promote their agendas, will have to do some fancy footwork to keep Obama in office for four more years.

Voila, the race card.

Get the f[bleep] out out of here. Santorum? Really? Republicans, you gonna try every chocolate in the box? Is that, look, look, here’s your candidates. Here’s your candidates. Let’s call it a “White Man’s Sampler.”

Stewart couldn’t find the race card when the overwhelmingly white Occupy Wall Street crowd clogged up public space for weeks at a time. Handy that he found it just now, right?

Jon Stewart Plays Comedian Card When Challenged by PolitiFact

by Hollywoodland

Jon Stewart got busted by PolitiFact for peddling a falsehood on “The Daily Show.” To be fair, the Comedy Central show supposedly got the whopper from The History Channel. That didn’t stop Stewart and co. from continuing to mock those upset that the War on Christmas continues.

Never let a good, albeit false, meme go to waste.

In the attached clip, Stewart explains how the show incorrectly claimed that Congress worked on Christmas Day for 67 years straight, thereby showing that Christmas isn’t as deserving of federal respect as many claim it is.

Turns out the number was off by 66 years, as Stewart cheerfully notes.

‘Essential Killing’ Review: A Republican Plays a Jihadist!?

by Zachary Leeman

Come one! Come all! See Vincent Gallo feeding off an actual lactating woman! See him run through the snow barefoot! See him … well, see him play a terrorist named Mohammed run from the U.S. military and be degraded down to his most animal instincts in order to survive.

Essential Killing,” available now via Video on Demand services as well as iTunes and Vudu, follows a Taliban fighter named Mohammed who is captured by U.S. military forces and transported to Europe where he escapes and goes on the run. While evading his captors, he must do what is necessary to survive, including taking life, which we graphically witness beforehand in the film when he kills some private contractors with an RPG.

It comes as no surprise that Hollywood would provide us with a story about the Afghanistan war that is from the point of view of a terrorist. I’m sure liberal after liberal would argue he is an “enemy combatant” and is justified in his killings. Political correctness aside, we witness him murder private contractors and then later murder more people. He’s a terrorist, no matter what the been-in-college-too-long-and-stay-up-too-late-watching-Jon-Stewart types would have anyone believe.

Why would we want to watch a movie where the protagonist is a terrorist? Well, we wouldn’t. But using the word “protagonist” here is a bit of a stretch. Sure, Mohammed is the main character, but there seems to be no attempt to make us identify with him, which is a relief. Instead, the film looks on its own events without much investment or insight. The camera is neutral. We are simply witnessing what is happening. But, hence comes the film’s fatal flaw. Without investment, what point is there in watching this ordeal? Mohammed is forced into some pretty horrid conditions and ordeals, but we could care less whether he lives or dies, so we watch the film with little more than semi-queasy fascination.

‘Daily Show’ Lands Comedy Death Blow to Occupy Wall Street

by Hollywoodland

Even Jon Stewart couldn’t stomach the layers of hypocrisy – and filth – at the heart of Occupy Wall Street.

“The Daily Show” honored the end – for now – of Occupy Wall Street’s Occupation of Wall Street by sending one of its crack reporters to cover the movement. What they found was hypocrisy of the highest order, the kind of uncomfortable to watch comedy conservatives have been waiting to see since OWS first began.

So much material, and so few comedians having a crack at it.

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c
Occupy Wall Street Divided

Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor & Satire Blog The Daily Show on Facebook

But even the liberal folks over at the Comedy Central program couldn’t hold back. The result? A dilly of a comedy segment which didn’t even bother interviewing the most mentally unstable OWS members for comedy gold. They didn’t have to in order to mock the oh, so mockable OWS.

Late Night Savages GOP Candidates, Can’t Find Anything Funny About Obama

by Hollywoodland

Wash Times:

If President Obama can spare a moment from such chores as winning re-election, he might find a few chuckles on late-night TV.

Times are tough for Mr. Obama, especially when it comes to his approval ratings. But things could be worse.

With Election Day looming one short year away, Mr. Obama’s most effective heat shield turns out to be his loyal opposition: Republicans scrapping to unseat him and getting lampooned for it by late-night TV comics.

The jokes range from blistering to silly to simply sophomoric. But it should be all the same to Mr. Obama: They’re not targeting him.

Among Republican challengers, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney holds steady as “the uncontested front-runner for everyone’s second choice,” in the wry appraisal of “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart. Meanwhile, Mr. Romney’s rivals scramble to gain an upper hand without falling prey to the next punch line.

In that latter mission, they often stumble as they, not the White House, take the brunt of late-night talk shows’ jibes.

On a recent edition of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,”Mr. Stewart played sound bites of such GOP contenders as Mr. Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota.

Michael Moore Attacks First Responders, Suggests ‘Undercover Cops’ Responsible for #Occupy Violence

by John Nolte

***UPDATE: Michael Moore accuses police of rioting:

***END UPDATE

—–

Chaos is unfolding in Oakland and on top of that, we’ve documented over 125 separate incidents of violence, vandalism, perversion, drug use, sexual assault, and an overall draining of precious and limited police resources throughout the country. The $50 Million Dollar Man’s response:  blame the cops.

Like his political soul brother Jon Stewart, Michael Moore is only in love with first responders when being in love with first responders is good for your image and career. But as soon as it’s politically useful to attempt to blame those same first responders for the violence committed by your real political soul brothers, they do.

Stewart Eviscerates Herman Cain, Trump Cries Racism

by John Nolte

The Donald doesn’t make his case very well. In fact, I had to watch both his clip and the Stewart clip twice to understand the charge (you can watch both below).

My guess is that Trump is upset over the way in which Stewart’s voice changes at right around the 3:50 mark when the “Daily Show” host assumes the role of Cain while making a joke about the Lindbergh baby.

Stewart has been criticized in the past for mocking Cain with a “black  dialect,” and Trump has had to defend more then a few phony charges of racism created out of nothing by Obama’s MSM Palace Guards. Therefore, since he wasn’t given the benefit of the doubt, Trump’s probably wondering why Stewart is.

Personally, I’m not seeing the racism. Stewart just sounds like Bing Crosby to me, but I don’t mind seeing leftists hoisted by their own petard. Hyper-sensitivity and fascistic political correctness are of their own making, and Stewart is one of America’s top 10 Speech Policers.

I do wonder, though, how the MSM would react in the exact same circumstance if it was Dennis Miller mocking Barack Obama instead of Jon Stewart mocking Herman Cain.

Late Night Comics Pounce on Cain’s ‘Scandal’

by Hollywoodland

The Mainstream Media did what it likes to do best over the weekend – turn a poorly sourced quasi-scandal regarding a Republican into a news feeding frenzy.

Now, late night talk show hosts have taken the bait.

David Letterman

Last night, the majority of the comedy elite had fun at the expense of Herman Cain, the popular GOP presidential candidate accused of sexually harassing two women during the 1990s. The wobbly reportage was condemned by not only conservatives but the left-leaning Pro Publica media outfit. But it proved too irresistible for the usual comic suspects (source: The daily Hotline roundup):

David Letterman: Now (businessman) Herman Cain when he was the chairman of the National Restaurant Association back in the ’90’s is saying there was a claim of sexual harassment. I looked it up. … Here’s what happened: he was just listing the specials. (‘The Late Show with David Letterman,’ CBS, 10/31).

Jon Stewart Hearts First Responders … Unless They’re Responding to Violent Liberals

by Christian Toto

Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart wipes off the greasepaint when it’s time to salute – and protect – the First Responders from 9/11.

It’s one of his more admirable stances, even if it’s often accompanied by slams against the GOP.

But ‘The Daily Show’ host apparently drops his affection for the men and women in blue when they dare to protect citizens from the violent Occupy Wall Street types.

This week, Stewart climbed aboard his funny pulpit to admonish cops for cracking down on the folks Occupying Oakland. According to Stewart’s highly edited clip reel, the protesters were hardly a menacing bunch, but cops used tear gas and other forceful methods to keep them in line all the same.

How. Could. They?

As my tag team partner John Nolte said earlier, Stewart clearly left out this, this, this, and this. Oh, and this, this, this and this. ADDED: And this!

Apparently Jon Stewart Won’t Tolerate Being Mocked

by John Nolte

What a treasure trove of information this is. If you recall, in 2007 during the writer’s strike, Jon Stewart kept his show on the air under the absurd claim there was no writing going on — or something. If anyone in showbiz didn’t have to worry about his career losing steam through the strike, it was Stewart.

But Stewart chose scab over principled solidarity, MacFarlane’s “Family Guy” gave him a tweak over it, and…

Jon Stewart Sours on Obama: Disappointed President ‘Deferred To the Legislative Process’

by John Nolte

***UPDATE: Once again the outstanding BH community embarrasses me with their insight. Stewart being bummed with Obama deferring to the legislative process is very revealing, and I missed it completely. Good catch. Please go on about your business of being awesome and note the updated headline.

The Left’s growing disappointment with Obama only has to do with his current approval rating. I can guarantee you that if the President did everything exactly the way he’s doing now but was at 55% approval as opposed to 39% and on his way to easy re-election, Jon Stewart and the rest would be overjoyed with the job Obama’s doing. The Left simply must blame “the job the President is doing” because they can’t face the fact that the policies Obama put into place have failed because those are the policies the Left has believed in for generations. To stare into the abyss and admit their own ideas don’t work is too much to bear. So instead, we get this:

Stewart in Rolling Stone:

“Obama ran on this idea that the system and the methodology are corrupt. It felt like the country was upset enough that he had the momentum needed to re-evaluate how business is done. Instead, when he got elected, he acted as though the system is so entrenched that it has to be managed rather than – I don’t want to say decimated, because I’m not an anarchist or a nihilist. But I’m surprised at how much he deferred to the legislative process. He’s accomplished some things, and I’m sure he’s pleased with what he’s done, but I would have preferred to see something a little bit more transformative. They haven’t made the case that government can be effective, or accountable, or agile.”

‘Modern Family,’ ‘Mad Men’ Win Big at Emmys; Complete List of Winners

by Hollywoodland

Associated Press:

The Emmys keep buying what “Mad Men” is selling. The 1960s Madison Avenue saga won its fourth consecutive best drama series award Sunday, while big-hearted romp “Modern Family” claimed its second best comedy trophy.

“Modern Family” producer Steve Levitan, whose picture of the American family today includes gay couples and interracial families, told of being approached during shooting by a real-life gay couple who wanted to say thanks.

“They said, `You’re not just making people laugh, you’re making them more tolerant,’” said Levitan, whose show received a total of five awards.

While “Mad Men” gained the top comedy award, it couldn’t pull honors for stars Jon Hamm or Elisabeth Moss.

Kyle Chandler was the surprise winner in the best drama actor category for the last season of Texas football drama “Friday Night Lights,” blocking odds-on favorites among his fellow nominees, including Hamm.

Jon Stewart Gushes Over Rapper On Record Opposing Interracial Relationships

by Hollywoodland
—–

The idea here is to paint conservatives as prudes and hold tight to that narrative at all costs. The idea here is to pretend there was no legitimate reason for opposing Common’s White House invitation.

When the Left rose up to defend Common’s White House invite, they only focused on criticism of the rapper’s lyrics (which was silly). What they intentionally ignored and continue to ignore is Common’s 2005 statement opposing interracial relationships.

That kind of talk is indefensible unless, of course, you’re a Leftist. And most especially if the airing of such a thing will hurt a Democrat president.

Obama Should Worry: President’s Ability to Create Jobs Ridiculed On Late-Night

by John Nolte

—–

President Obama’s joint-session, prime time, pass-it-now jobs speech was so feckless that even Jon Stewart’s ridiculing it.

The American people aren’t all that impressed, either.

Obama becoming a late-night punchline and subject of ridicule might be the most glaring example of how much trouble he’s really in. The easier the jokes are to write and deliver, the more of “a joke” the subject becomes. Watch the first clip of Conan O’Brien. All he has to say is “jobs plan” to get a laugh.

For a Moment After 9/11 Hollywood Was There For Us … For a Moment

by Alicia Colon

As someone who lost a friend in the Towers (Port Authority officer Donald Foreman ), I still have a hard time thinking of 9/11 without gritting my teeth in anger. I do remember in those early days after the attacks thinking that the entertainment industry did a good job embracing the public’s heartache and sharing messages of hope and patriotism. I watched David Letterman’s return to the air and tried to laugh with him, but my pain was too raw and he somehow did not come across as sincere.

On the other hand, I was very moved by Jon Stewart’s monologue and there was no doubt about his pain.

It didn’t take long, however, for the entertainment industry to jump on the Bush derangement syndrome bandwagon and every film, show or play to be tainted with liberal hate.

Jon Stewart should take a look back on his feelings that day and tone down his contempt for all things conservative.

Jon Stewart Hammers Ed Schultz’s Race-Baiting Deceptive Edit
