To paraphrase Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, “Lord I know we are your chosen people, but once in a while, can’t you have Mel Gibson choose someone else?”

Gibson’s career reads like a Shakespearian Tragedy. After becoming arguably the biggest star in Hollywood he began displaying his hubris, spewing hatred against different ethnic groups, much of it against the Jews (or as he has called them “oven dodgers”). Gibson’s hatred nearly destroyed his career turning him into at best a b-player. But announced last week, Gibson successfully wrangled funding for a big Hollywood project withy Warner Brothers. He will be producing and possibly directing and starring in a movie based on Jewish history, the story of Judah Maccabee.

This is not the first time Gibson has tackled Jewish History, just the first time he’s attempted it in film. In 2004, Gibson was interviewed by Peggy Noonan for Readers Digest. Noonan asked Gibson if he believed the Holocaust happened. He answered by questioning the number of Jews slaughtered by the Nazi’s and seemed to downplay the Holocaust as a Jewish experience.

“I mean when the war was over they said it was 12 million. Then it was six. Now it’s four. I mean it’s that kind of numbers game. I mean war is horrible. The Second World War killed tens of millions of people. Some of them were Jews in concentration camps. Many people lost their lives. In the Ukraine, several million people starved to death between 1932 and 1933. During the last century 20 million people died in the Soviet Union. Okay? It’s horrible.”

These are just a few of many anti-Jewish acts made by Gibson, the most famous of which occurred during a drunk driving arrest in 2006 when he kept screaming “f***ing Jews” and later stated that “the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world”

So should Gibson’s Antisemitism prevent him from making a movie about the Maccabees? Well that’s kind of a hypothetical question because it was Gibson who brought the picture to Warner Brothers. It won’t be made without him. But is it the right thing for Warners to do, and once it is made should Jews consider seeing the movie?

Rabbi Marvin Heir, founder and dean of Los Angeles’s Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance, voiced his displeasure in statements to The Hollywood Reporter and predicted that Jews should stay home.

“Warner Bros. is making a terrible mistake,” Hier says, adding, “most of the people that are going to come to a film about Judah Maccabee are the Jewish community. Surely they know the Jewish communities are not going to come to this film.”

I am not as sure as Rabbi Hier. As a people, Jews are quick to forgive. Israel considers Palestinian Authority President Abbas a moderate despite the fact that he was one of the people responsible for the Sbarro bombing, American Jews still support Barack Obama despite his anti-Israel policies. In the end, the good Rabbi is likely to be disappointed to learn how many Jews see the movie.

More than his anti-Semitic history, I am not sure that Gibson has the background to appreciate the real story of the Maccabees. Gibson is a passionate member of the Catholic Traditionalist movement, a minority Catholic sect that rejects the reforms of the Second Vatican Council in 1964-65 — in particular the abolition of the Latin Mass. Part of the traditional Latin Mass that Gibson so fiercely believes in is about the conversion of the Jews. The prayer reads: “Let us pray also for the Jews, that the Lord our God may take the veil from their hearts and that they also may acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ.” It also refers to their “blindness” and prays for them to be “delivered from their darkness.”

This is a direct conflict with the story of the Maccabees who fought against conversion. Only part of the Hanukah story was the Maccabees fight for getting the Greeks out of Israel, and the cleansing and dedication of the Temple. The Maccabees fought a civil war against other Jews. Judah and the boys were fighting Jews who had turned away from their faith by combining it with Greek/Hellenistic practices (or in some cases abandoning the Jewish faith totally). The resulting assimilation caused a loss of Jewish faith and tradition, and finally laws against practicing Jewish ritual.

Sadly, in many way’s this story about a war against assimilation of the Jewish people has become the most assimilated of Jewish holidays. Too many treat this holiday as a “Jewish Christmas,” the exact opposite of what the Maccabee story is all about.

The reason I don’t believe Gibson is qualified to produce, direct and possibly star in a movie about Judah Maccabee is not his love or hatred for the Jewish people, but the fact that his view of the Catholic faith argues Jews should be cured so they can accept Christ — and that is the exact opposite of the Maccabee story.

Mel Gibson is entitled to his religious belief, that’s not the issue. The real question is: based on his religious beliefs could Mel Gibson do the story of the Maccabees justice? Personally, I do not see how a man who prays that Jews convert can do a movie about a civil war waged to prevent Jews from losing their faith.

Mel Gibson’s decision to make a biopic of the Jewish religious icon Judah Maccabee is the latest twist in the star’s long, tortured history with the Jewish community.

The beginning of the strained relations dates back to the moment Gibson announced in 2002 that he was writing and directing a film about the final 12 hours of Jesus’ life, then titled The Passion. Though Gibson had previously run afoul of the gay and lesbian community when he was accused of making homophobic comments in 1991 and was known to be a staunchly conservative Catholic in his faith, he was a largely uncontroversial figure in Hollywood. But during filming of the Passion in Italy, Jewish leaders began to raise concerns about how the Jewish people would be portrayed in the film. Members of the Anti-Defamation League reached out to Gibson with their concerns, but the star rebuffed them.

In a May 2003 interview with National Catholic Reporter Jesuit Fr. William J. Fulco, who translated the script into Aramaic and Latin, assured the nervous Jewish community, “In no way do I experience it as offensive to Jews or anyone else.”

But as Gibson began to screen the film to selected Catholic and Jewish leaders, accusations of anti-Semitism sounded louder and louder in the media. Unhappy with the film’s tone towards the Jewish people and their culpability in the crucifixion of Jesus, leaders such as New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind.

Eventually, Twentieth Century Fox passed on picking up the film, now titled The Passion of the Christ and it was distributed by indie company, Newmarket Films.

Long before there was a Jon Stewart on Comedy Central cracking jokes and ridiculing Fox News viewers, there was an old-school comedian named Jackie Mason.

What makes Mason unique is not only his acerbic outspoken style of humor, but also the fact that he is not ashamed to admit he is a conservative inside a mostly liberal Hollywood.

Mason – or the “Ultimate Jew,” as he calls himself – has appeared in “Caddyshack II,” “The Simpsons,” and countless other programs.

He actually had a road show called “Politically Incorrect” which is one of his most successful road productions.

Since Mason has never been at a loss of words when it comes to politics, I decided to ask him what he thought of President Obama. The response was classic Mason: “President Obama will go down as the first-, second- or third-worst President in American history. He is a hypocrite of the worst kind and a liar and a fraud,” Mason bellowed.

Mason is among a growing number of voices declaring that Hollywood no longer will be a one-ideology town.

Take a listen to the YouTube above where Mason covers everything from Obama to bin Laden to Israel’s right to defend itself in, well, classic Jackie Mason style.

Between the controversy surrounding the proposed local laws in California against circumcision. and the Weinergate scandal, so far the month of June can be called the month of the schmeckel (Yiddish for penis). There has been more schmeckel talk in the main stream media over the past two weeks, than occurs in an eight grade lunch room in an all boys school during the course of an entire school year.

Thankfully there will probably be no more Weiner’s wiener pictures released (even though the nightmares remain), and after a leader of the anti-circumcision movement published a blatantly anti-Semitic comic book (called Foreskin Man), the ballot initiative to ban childhood circumcision Santa Monica was dropped. The San Francisco initiative still remains on the ballot.

Sadly the movement against circumcision is not over and Academy Award winning actor Russell Crow, has decided to join in on the “fun” with an anti-circumcision rant on twitter.

A Crowe follower told the Australian celebrity that he was expecting a son soon, and asked for his input on whether he should have his baby circumcised.

Crowe responded harshly, saying that “circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin?”

The actor added that “babies are perfect” when they are born. Crowe later said that he “will always stand for the perfection of babies, I will always believe in God, not man’s interpretation of what God requires.”

Mr. Crowe should know that throwing a telephone at an employee of the Mercer Hotel is barbaric and stupid, circumcision is not, it is part of a both Jewish and Muslim religious practice.

Many Jewish practices do originate from Rabbinical interpretation of what is written in the Torah, such as not eating milk with mean (Rabbis got that from the Torah saying “Do not boil a kid in its mother’s milk)

On the other hand circumcision is directly commanded in the Torah, the five books of Moses. The command for circumcision is in the appears in Bereisheet (the Jewish name for the book of Genesis)

You shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, as a sign of the covenant between Me and you. At the age of eight days, you shall circumcise every male child born to you throughout the generations …Bereisheet 17:11-1

This is not as Mr. Crowe says an interpretation of what God wants, but according to Jews and Muslims it is a direct order right there in ink and parchment. From what I understand from my Christian friends, they too believe that the Torah is the word of God (but order’s such as circumcision apply only to Jews in the “old Testament”)

Where there is interpretation is why God ordered Jews to circumcise their son’s at eight-days-old. One interpretation given by the Rabbis is that males are not born perfect on purpose. The reason for circumcision is to give fathers (the parent who is ordered to conduct the ritual) is to allow them to have a greater participation in the act of creation. We believe that God has a huge role, and the mother’s obviously have the role of developing the baby within her body, through the act of Brit Milah (the circumcision ceremony) dad has the role of adding the final touch, making the boy perfect.

Several followers responded to Crowe’s remarks, using scientific and hygienic explanations to justify circumcision. The actor rebuffed them, saying that “‘human’ science has caused too much damage,” calling the follower “a moron”. In response to claims that circumcision is hygienic the actor scoffed, saying “why don’t you sew up your ass then?”

Maybe Mr. Crow should sew up his fingers before his stupidity continues. It is an established scientific fact that circumcision helps prevent HIV.

The actor pointed out what he believes to be a double standard, saying it is “interesting that female circumcision is widely considered barbaric, while male circumcision is so widely accepted.”

Perhaps it has been a long time since Mr. Crowe saw a woman naked (which may be why he is so cranky), so allow me to refresh his memory….females parts are different than male ones.

The female circumcision argument is often presented by the anti-circumcision forces. Female genital cutting, a controversial practice that usually involves the removal of the clitoris, is illegal in the United States. Female circumcision is designed to take away sexual pleasure from women, male circumcision does not reduce sensation (you will have to trust me on that one).

Per the explanation I gave above, according to the Rabbis, it is males who are born imperfect, not females so there is no need for female circumcision. As far as permanent injuries during the practice, thankfully they are very very few and far between (although after my Bris at eight days old, I could not walk for over a year, the same thing happened with my son).

Crowe clarified that he is not anti-Semitic, saying he loves his Jewish friends with their “apples and the honey and the funny little hats”. However, he implored them to stop “cutting” their babies.

He may not be anti-Semitic but he is certainly insensitive. The reader is half expecting him to say ”some of his best friends wear those funny little hats.”

Crowe’s argument is reminiscent of the Hellenist philosophy behind the Chanukah story. The Hellenists “worshiped” the human form, it was the essence of perfection. The story of the Maccabees begins with the Greeks banning circumcision, which led to a bloody revolt. The Romans banned circumcision after the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 70.

The Hebrew word for ritual circumcision, Brit Milah , literally means “covenant of circumcision.” It is a covenantal act that Jews have practiced since the time of the Patriarch Abraham more than 3,500 years ago. It reflects a commitment to God. Historically movements to ban circumcision are centered in attempts to move the Jewish commitment from God and refocus it on man. In fact almost every campaign to destroy the Jewish people started with a ban on circumcision, which is followed by a ban on kosher slaughter and finally a ban on teaching Torah.

Whether they were meant to be anti-Jewish or not, both the SF Ballot initiative and Crowe’s rant, are fundamentally anti-Semitic, as is the Dutch ban on kosher slaughter and the movements across Europe to ban kosher meat.

Although I would argue that their intent is more nefarious, even if you give them the benefit of the doubt and believe their intent to be Humanist or Hellenistic the end result is banning key Jewish rituals and practice.

As for Crowe, if he is truly not anti-Semitic, he should do research on the issue and understand, prior to starting to rant against it. Based on his tweets he either a hater, too stupid to think before he tweets, or simply jealous because he cannot be circumcised. Because his recent twitter behavior has proven he cannot be circumcised because there is no end to that prick!

Moses was screwed! There is no other way to put it.

At sundown April 18th, Jews all across the world will begin the celebration of the holiday of Passover. Outside of Israel, the first two days of the holiday begin with a Seder (Jewish holidays begin in the evening) a family ritual based on the Biblical verse commanding:

“You shall tell your son on that day, saying, ‘It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’” (Exodus 13:8)

Notice it says what the Lord did for me? Because of that line God gets all the credit (which he deserves) but only God.

The “instructions manual” for the Seder is called the Haggadah, a book that contains the narrative of the Israelite exodus from Egypt, special blessings and rituals, commentaries from the Sages, and special Passover songs. Seder customs include drinking four cups of wine, eating matza, partaking of symbolic foods placed on the Passover Seder Plate (bitter herbs, hard boiled eggs, etc), and reclining while we eat to act as free people. In my house that is supplemented with song parodies, stupid parlor tricks (like changing water into blood) and family discussion about the meaning of the freedoms given to us by God.

One key player in the exodus story is missing from the entire Haggadah…Moses; Prophet, miracle maker, former prince of Egypt, and tennis player (the Bible says Moses served in the courts of Pharaoh). Can you believe it, the guy who put his arse online, confronted the most powerful king on earth before and after each plague, split the Reed Sea doesn’t get a mention in the official explaining the exodus script? (Reed Sea no typo in Hebrew its Yam Suf, Sea of Reeds).

Beginning at age 80 this poor guy had to lead 600,000 Jews on a forty year trip through the wilderness and when he was 12o and they finally approached their destination he was replaced by his number two Joshua who was almost 30 years younger than him and he gets nothing on Passover. Moses deserves better treatment after enduring forty years of “not asking for directions” jokes. And the complaints!! The long wilderness walk was where Jews began the tradition which still exists today, whining about the food during a trip, can you imagine what poor Moses had to listen to? One indication is what they called the food sent down from heaven itself; Manna. Translated into English Manna literally means “what is this?”

Near the end of the Seder, a glass of wine is poured, the front door is opened and an ancient prophet is invited in to parse his thirst…Elijah. Elijah?!?!? Moses was endured Pharaoh, the Exodus, forty years of wandering in a desert-like wilderness and he doesn’t even get offered a glass of freaking water, but Elijah, Mr. “ride a flaming chariot into heaven”, gets a glass of wine at every Seder in every house across the world.

Please note, ignoring Moses was not a biblical command, but a man-made decision. the Haggadah is a book put together by the sages after the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem so Jews would have a guideline of how to celebrate the holiday without the animal sacrifices conducted in Jerusalem. It was those sages who said ix-nay on the oses-may.

So in honor of poor Moses, who had to deal with so much and still gets blamed for the fact that if he made a right instead of a left the Jews would have all the oil, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the ways he was portrayed in Hollywood:

Somewhere around 34 centuries ago, Moses acted as God’s agent helping the children of Israel leave Egypt and head to the Holy Land. Yet every Passover Seder since then has virtually ignored him. Hey may have been mentioned during the century but only in the context of more complaints “Well if Moses made a right turn instead of a left, we would have all the oil.”

It is my hope that this humble attempt evens the playing field a bit, and by the way Moses, if you find yourself in the neighborhood during the Seders please stop by for some brisket, a drink of wine and some storytelling with family and friends. As we say at the beginning of each Seder:

Whoever is hungry, let him come and eat [even ignored prophets]; whoever is in need, let him join us for the Seder of Passover. This year we are here; next year in the land of Israel. This year we are slaves; next year may we be free people.

May this coming year see people all over the world realize freedom from oppression of all kinds, from tyrannical despots to well meaning politicians who take away freedoms from some in order to transfer wealth to others.

Editor’s note: Script reviews of upcoming projects have been around for as long as there’s been an Internet. Therefore it’s no secret that a film can evolve into something quite different from its screenplay. Please keep in mind that this article represents a look at a particular script and not the final product.

A few weeks after the Academy Awards, Best Actor nominee and likely winner Colin Firth is scheduled to take up his next role, playing a British officer in a film about the struggle between British authorities in colonial Palestine and the Jewish underground that aimed to dislodge them.

While The King’s Speech brought history to life, Firth’s new movie, The Promised Land, may portray a distorted version of the conflict between Jews and Arabs, as well as the British role in it.

Directed by Michael Winterbottom, (Wonderland, The Road to Guantánamo), and partly backed by British taxpayers via the UK Film Council, The Promised Land presents a revisionist history of Palestine during World War II–one in which the British favor the Jews over the Arabs, the Jews repay British kindness with cruelty, and Arab violence against civilians and support for the Third Reich are airbrushed out of the picture.

The story centers around the real-life romance between two unlikely lovers, Shoshana Borochov and Thomas Wilkin. Borochov was the daughter of Dov Ber Borochov, a left-wing Zionist who saw the creation of Israel as part of the proletarian struggle. Wilkin was a British police officer responsible for tracking down members of the Jewish underground, particularly the infamous “Stern Gang.”

Before he was murdered during his arrest in 1942, Avraham “Yair” Stern had led a sensational and violent campaign to oppose British rule. His organization, “Fighters for the Freedom of Israel” (Lehi, in the Hebrew acronym) broke away from other Zionist groups and targeted British officials and police. He was regarded as an outlaw by many Jewish leaders, including the leaders of other Zionist underground organizations in Palestine.

At the time, the Holocaust was accelerating in Europe, while the British refused to allow the tide of Jewish refugees into Palestine. Though Palestine’s Arab leaders had revolted against British rule in the late 1930s, and soon took an active role in Hitler’s war effort, the British–after crushing the Arab rebellion–attempted (in vain) to appease Arab opinion with the White Paper of 1939, which severely restricted Jewish immigration.

The Promised Land ignores much of that context. Instead, it portrays the Jewish underground as a fascist, even pro-Nazi movement. The screenplay–a draft of which I have read–calls for graphic scenes of Arab suffering at the hands of Jewish terrorists and British officers. Jewish victims are largely off-screen, mentioned in the abstract–if at all. The film even suggests, falsely, that Jews provoked Arabs to commit the Hebron massacre of 1929 by not hiring Arab workers, absolving Palestinian Arab leaders who incited the pogrom.

Michael Winterbottom

Though the screenplay makes some effort to show that Stern was not widely supported by Jewish leaders, it often uses his group as a symbol of the Jewish underground as a whole. Similarly, the screenplay draws facile connections between Stern and the Likud governments of Israel in the 1970s and 1980s, ignoring decades of intervening history. It also presents the Arab population as unique victims; they are the only concentration camp inmates portrayed in the story, for example.

The screenplay for The Promised Land was written by Laurence Coriat, who may bring an anti-Israel bias to the project. In 2006, she apparently co-signed an open letter accusing Israel of “violation of all international conventions” and “destruction of all the infrastructures…and the institutions of the Republic of Lebanon.” (No word from Coriat then, or now, about Hezbollah, it would seem.)

There are several glaring mistakes–errors of omission as well as commission, such as the familiar (yet false) claim that Jews were a minority in Jerusalem in the early 20th century. Early online chatter about The Promised Land reported that Winterbottom briefly consulted the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in researching the period. If so, he seems to have used its resources selectively, using key details to garnish a historical narrative that remains deeply flawed.

That is certainly how Israeli actress Mili Avital felt upon reading the screenplay. As she related to an Israeli newspaper last year, she had been approached to participate in the film, but refused after reading the screenplay: “…it was so anti-Zionist that I closed it after 20 pages. I read it and there were tears in my eyes…it pains me to read how [Winterbottom] describes the beginning of Zionism from such an extreme point of view.”

At the moment, The Promised Land seems to have run into funding problems, according to co-star Jim Sturgess, who signed on to play Wilkin (according to IMDB, Firth is cast as officer Robert Chambers, who narrates much of the film’s flawed historical background–not Stern, as originally reported by the San Francisco Sentinel). Production was apparently supposed to have begun last summer–and Firth might have good cause to be grateful that it didn’t, because the film could have overshadowed his outstanding performance in The King’s Speech.

It is not impossible to salvage The Promised Land. A rewritten screenplay–if it has not been rewritten already–could preserve the story and its characters, while correcting the factual errors and bias of the film. The question is whether the director and producers care more about the improbable romance between Wilkins and Borochov, or the false historical argument Winterbottom and Coriat seem to be making: that terror was, and remains, at the core of Zionism and Israel.

If the latter, The Promised Land risks becoming agitprop instead of art. That may be what Winterbottom and the producers at Revolution Films intend: after all, they made The Shock Doctrine in 2009, based on the book by Israel boycott enthusiast Naomi Klein. But fans of Colin Firth–myself among them–should hope that he is able to convince his colleagues to revisit their screenplay, to make a film that is worth of his talent and integrity, and true to the facts.

So today I got a press release from something called Faith in Public Life. It begins:

As hateful rhetoric and fear-mongering about the Park51 Islamic Center in lower Manhattan creates a growing climate of hate and violence toward American Muslims, prominent religious leaders and national security experts will join together … to denounce growing Islamophobia and to urge the development of the New York community center-as a means of both protecting our nation and of upholding our American values of freedom, resilience, tolerance, and cooperation.

—–

At this point, I have to ask myself: am I hate-monger? Is my mom a fear-monger? Does 70 percent of America provide a combination of hate and fear-mongering?

I mean – when you’re talking about people who have problems with the mosque – those are the people, you’re talking about.

So again I ask the folks who smugly dismiss mosque opponents: Do you believe that every single person against the mosque is a bigot?

Because that’s a massive number, and it includes me, my mom, many friends (from both sides of the political spectrum), also blacks, whites, Hispanics, Jews…even Muslims.

(But oddly, no Griffin lovers)

So – again, are they all hateful bigots?

Or…do you think some might have a legitimate reason for their opinion?

You know it’s true. In fact, you KNOW there’s a legit reason for being pissed – but you ignore it.

And I want to know why – cuz maybe you can convince me I’m wrong.

See, we all agree with the right to pray wherever. If you want to build the mosque, fine. But I can still say it’s a jerky thing to do. Like I said, annoying someone is legal. But it still makes you annoying.

But if your response is, “Greg, you just don’t like Muslims,” then screw you. Instead of clinging to this bigotry meme in order to skirt debate, just meet me on a field of common sense – and who knows, you might win.

And if you don’t, you’re a racist, homophobic islamophobic arachnophobe.

In a post titled “Mel Gibson and Oliver Stone,” David Bernstein hits the nail on the head:

Gibson was an easy target for Hollywood liberals and leftists. A right-winger and a religious Catholic, Gibson was the perfect manifestation of Hollywood liberals’ stereotypes of anti-Semites.

Stone, by contrast, is a Buddhist leftist of partial Jewish descent, the kind of person the Hollywood left usually thinks of as “one of the good guys.” Stone even was clever enough to follow his anti-Semitic remark about Jewish domination of the media, noted in the context of Hitler and the Holocaust, with some pablum about the Jewish lobby, Israel, and American foreign policy. This had nothing to do with the topic at hand, but Stone’s apologists will inevitably claim that his remarks were aimed at the “Israel lobby,” and not Jews per se.

So, what will it be for Hollywood liberals? Is anti-Semitism only unacceptable when it comes from right-wing Christians, or equally bad when it comes from non-Christian leftists, who add a bit of anti-Israel window dressing?

If the comments in the Sunday Times are correct, don’t expect Oliver Stone to get the Mel Gibson treatment. Gibson’s sin against Hollywood was producing “The Passion of the Christ,” not the vile things that came out of his mouth. After all, this is the same industry that honors, continues to work with, and defends fugitive child rapist Roman Polanski.

As long as your politics are in order, no “Jewish domination of the media” comments can hurt you.

I have a request for Whoopi Goldberg. I wish that she would go back to using her birth name Caryn Johnson, at least the Johnson part. Because of her adopted last name, some people may think she may be Jewish. To be perfectly honest there is enough anti-Semitism in the world without people ascribing her statements to Jews.

—–

Goldberg’s Johnson’s latest proclamation that Jewish people wish she kept to herself surrounds Mel Gibson and the taped phone calls Mel made to his girlfriend, where he spewed racial epithets such as “if you get raped by a pack of n***rs it will be your fault.” On this series of recordings, Gibson could also be heard calling Hispanics “wetbacks” and threatening violence against his girlfriend. Keep in mind that this incident comes during a period where Gibson was making a comeback after being shunned for his rabid anti-Semitism.

Whoopi’s reaction [see the video above] to Gibson’s latest is she does not condone what he did but she knows Mel, he has been over her house and she does not think Mel Gibson is a racist or an anti-Semite.

Not a racist? What the heck is she talking about? The man used the “N” word more times in one phone call than most people use in their entire lives. What does he have to do for her to call him a racist, break into Wal-Mart in the middle of the night to steal all the white sheets and lighter fluid?

As far as the anti-Semitism, remember Ms. Johnson you are not really Jewish, drunk or not, Mel’s statement “F**king Jews…the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world” was not a declaration of admiration.

If the Mel’s not a racist comment was the first crazy thing Whoopi ever said it could be forgiven, but her track record of brain burps is miles long. For example when John McCain was a guest during the 2008 campaign she asked the Senator if strict constitutionalist judges appointed during a McCain administration would bring back Slavery. Two months later, after being criticized for not reading the constitution, Whoopi said she READ the constitution and she was still worried about a return to slavery. Obviously she skipped the part of the 13th Amendment. Maybe she has triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13). How else could she miss that, it was in all the papers-150 YEARS AGO!

Goldberg Johnson also believes that African-Americans’ right to vote has to be renewed every few years:

“Do you know that we are the only people in the United States who have to have their voting rights okayed every couple of years? Did you know that they have to vote on the Voting Rights Bill for black folks? Can we just, can one of you candidates- can we just take care of that so I don’t have to worry every year, my God am I not?”

I thought she said she read the constitution. The 15th amendment to the Constitution prohibits racial discrimination in voting. “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.” Constitutional amendments do not expire, nor do they have to be renewed, and there is no fear of the number 15.

Goldberg/Johnson makes really asinine statements and because of her stage name, they are blaming her comments on the Jewish people.

Come on Whoopi, why pick on the poor Jews? Try one of these names on for size:

Whoopi Rochmanyanoff

Whoopi Chin

Whoopi Singh

Whoopi McSchtuppie

Whoopi Obama?

Hey I got an Idea! Why not go for the “peace angle” Why don’t you change your name to Whoopi Ahmadinejad? It fits nicely; Ahmadinejad knows nothing about the US constitution either. And it would be helping the President reach out to the Iranian tyrant. What do you say? Try it! Or try anything else.

Please Whoopi, we know the Jews are supposed to be the “chosen people,” but how about choosing someone else for a change. We already have our share of famous embarrassments. Do you know how hard it is every Father’s Day to see Woody Allen walk around with his wife/daughter? We have to take the blame for people like Courtney Love, Rosanne Barr, Al Franken and half of Geraldo Rivera. For heaven’s sake do you know how hard it is to figure out which part of Geraldo is the front side and which is the backside? Come on Ms Johnson, get rid of the Goldberg!! Haven’t the Jews suffered enough?
