The Loser

by John Nolte

President Barack Obama is about to learn that Hollywood is the ultimate fair-weather friend, where one hit and especially one flop can change everything about the way a majority of the power in this town will publicly support and stand by you. There’s only one thing these people hate more than everyday Americans and that’s the stench that emanates from a loser. So insecure are they over their own status that when faced with a public failure, the very first instinct these Tinseltown paragons of narcissism summon is to immediately run away out of the selfish fear that some of that stench might get on them.

ohnoes

Two examples:

In 1978, a young director named Michael Cimino ascended to the very tippity-top of Tinseltown adulation with his sophomore directing effort “The Deer Hunter,” which triumphed at the box office and that year’s Oscars. Subsequently, everyone in Hollywood wanted to be like Mike. And yet, a mere two years after his out-of-nowhere rise to the top and flushed with the power of his own invincibility, Cimono went on a then-unprecedented spending spree to produce the ill-conceived “Heaven’s Gate” which would not only become the biggest financial debacle in all of Hollywood history, but effectively destroy an entire studio, United Artists.

And thus ended Hollywood’s love affair with Michael Cimino. Oh, he would go on to make a few more films but by most definitions, the toast of Hollywood’s career was all but dead and he would never truly receive a second chance.

Fast-forward to 2008 when a young Senator named Barack Obama ascended to the very tippity-top of Hollywood adulation and won the highest office in the land. Everyone in left-wing Hollywood wanted to be like Barack. And then, right after his out-of-nowhere rise to the top, while still flushed with the power of his own invincibility, President Obama went on an unprecedented spending spree to produce the ill-conceived Heaven’s Gate of economic plans which would become the biggest financial debacle in generations and the Waterworld of health care plans which would prove to be more unpopular than some diseases. Overnight, the net result of both would all but destroy the hard-earned gains of the Democrat Party in a single midterm election.

And thus ended Hollywood’s love affair with Barack Obama. (more…)

America: Still Talking About Race

by Joseph C. Phillips

According to the website CNN.com, some of the criticism of first lady Michelle Obama is driven by partisan politics. However, “others say the attacks are rooted in white resentment of the “uppity Negro.” Two things quickly come to mind. The first is that no one other than Harry Reid uses the word “Negro” anymore. Second, that it is the 21st century and yet there are those who continue to talk about race as if it were 1955.

eric_holder_500

Last February, in a speech to honor Black History Month, Attorney General Eric Holder remarked that Americans of all colors should stop avoiding an honest discussion of race in America. Said Holder: “Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards.”

I disagreed with Holder at the time and still do. Americans are not cowards when it comes to discussions of race, neither are they dishonest. Rather, I believe Americans are simply bone-tired.

The American conversation on race began more than two centuries ago and frankly, we have talked of little else. The topic permeated the discussions during the drafting of both our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution and continues today, with a black man sitting in the white house. (more…)

The Fist of the Obama Nation

by Michael Moriarty

Please listen to this seven-year-old!

Divine.

Undeniably miraculous that a child, like a female, singing, Biblical David, should arrive with that much inborn courage, wisdom and sensitivity!

“It felt great,” Rhema Marvanne, said about making her theatrical debut. “It felt like God is really proud of me and he’s smiling right at me.”

She has that right, along with what appears to be everything else in her soul.

Does God send His divinities when we need them most?

Yes.

Does he send us other symbols of His Amazing Love?

Yes.

Who, what and where they are is up to you. (more…)

Daily Gut: Our Precious Obama Succeeds With Failure

by Greg Gutfeld

So that weird sound you’re hearing right now is the collective hand-wringing of liberals both in government and in media, who can’t help but fret as the Great One’s poll numbers drop like an ACME safe on their enormous expectations.

And so the Politico website ruminates over the tragic contrast between Obama’s real achievements and our country’s growing disappointment in him.

obama-golf2-415x275

They point out that Obama has “moved swiftly toward achieving the very policy objectives he promised voters as a candidate,” which to me, is EXACTLY why we can’t stand him now.

Look at the comprehensive health care bill. It pleased the media – but for the rest of us? We got duped. (more…)

Independence and the Right to Private Property

by Joseph C. Phillips

The right to private property was one of the central issues involved in the American Revolution. The colonists’ cries of “taxation without representation” were but protests of what they saw as an unjust taking of private property.

spiritof76_medium

The Declaration of Independence charges the King of England with engaging in 10 acts of abuse, of which half are offenses against private property. Most significantly, the Declaration lists the pursuit of happiness as one of man’s primary inalienable rights. The founders believed that liberty, happiness, and property were inextricably tied together.

Over the years, the American occupation with private property has not receded. Indeed, the question of private property remains a central part of our national political conversation. The political rhetoric may not always reflect it, but if one scratches the surface of arguments surrounding universal healthcare; entitlements; budgetary deficits; business regulation; cap-and-trade, or even abortion, one will find an argument involving the God-given right to private property. Teachable Tyranny

by Michael Moriarty

The Obama White House, so filled with Harvard graduates, is obviously more interested in teaching than in learning.

“Teachable moments,” remember?

Why the Obama Nation should retain so many slow-learners, spoiled brats refusing to recognize, amidst their Marxist Mania, the reality of Islamic terrorism?

Tyranny-of-Nice

It still takes Sarah Palin to remind these Harvard Czars and their Attorney General that a Chicago, Illinois high school willing to boycott an Arizona basketball game was also willing to send its students off to Red China.

That is obviously the high school’s four-year course in Progressive treason.

The Arizona immigration bill is a human rights offense and Red China is not?!

Radical Islam’s war against America does not exist?! Might Islamic terrorism be a part of a Marxist plan to achieve the so-called Progressive New World Order?

An American, bipartisan political movement, The Progressives, who own the White House, the Congress, the Supreme Court and the Mainstream Media are being embarrassed into making a common sense decision by what would appear to be a group of backward-thinking, bourgeois Americans: Fox News, the Tea Partiers and recent popularity polls. Big Government to the Rescue!

by Joseph C. Phillips

In politics, the crisis game works like this: pet issues are turned into national concerns, which then become the object of study for social scientists. The media then substantiate the concerns by publishing the opinions of social scientists, and thus elevate the issue to the level of a crisis. Once concerns become crises, there are demands that something be done. These demands are quickly followed by legislative action that invariably leads to higher taxes, increased government regulation, a loss of liberty, and if the past is any indication, a remarkable increase in whatever was originally identified as a problem. Repeat the cycle.

Scold_Lady

First lady Michelle Obama has made childhood obesity her pet project. The media is full of reports on the dangers of childhood obesity, and the federal government is in full crisis mode.

There really is no secret to obesity. Obesity is the result of a poor diet and lack of exercise. The people most responsible for the diet and exercise habits of children are the children’s parents. Why should this concern the federal government? The answer is that obesity is a leading driver of healthcare costs. A study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the direct costs of obesity is $147 billion annually or 10% of medical costs. Those costs are expected to more than double over the next decade. As the federal government begins to pick up the tab for more and more of those costs they will also begin to demand a greater influence in what we eat and how much we exercise. Certainly, the fiscal health of the nation demands that government do something.

Worry not. (more…)

Notes From a Tea Party: I’m Old School

by Gary Graham

[I gave an abbreviated version of this speech at a Tea-Party in Lake Forrest, California yesterday.]

It’s so nice to be back in Orange County where I grew up.  And it’s great to be surrounded by all of my fellow racist-extremist-morons.  Oh, you didn’t hear?  That’s how the mainstream media is labeling all of us T-party participants.

tea-party-awesome-signs

It was a bit of a surprise to find out I was a racist-extremist-moron, as I try to deal with all my fellow humans with courtesy and respect.  But if I disagree with a president of mixed race, I am a racist?  Got it.  He’s half-black and half-white…and I’m white… Not sure exactly how that works…especially since one of my most oft-quoted heroes was a Black man.  I harken to the words of Dr. King in supporting a color-blind society.  A person being ‘judged by the content of his character rather that the color of his skin’ type of thing.

And I did pretty well in school, went to college, I try to stay up on current events, I read voraciously and have published a book and written over forty articles that have been published on the Internet, so it surprised me to find out I’m a moron.

And…like all of you ‘morons’, I believe in the American Constitution.  I believe brilliant minds put it together with built-in limits of power that were meant to safe-guard the sorts of abuses we now see coming at us on a daily basis in Washington, D.C.  (more…)

A Toast to the Administrative State

by Joseph C. Phillips

There was much laughter following the presidents signing of the health care bill. Democrats were positively giddy over having successfully secured America’s decline. There were fist bumps and back slapping; the champagne flowed.

federal-deficit-projections

Democrats were not alone in their celebration. Republicans too shook hands with constituents and lapped up attention and praise for, let’s face it, having done very little. But, hey, why let that spoil a good time? My fear is that not only will Republicans not “repeal the bill” should they take control of congress after the mid-term elections, but that in the very near future Republican candidates will also be running on promises to nurture it. Such is my confidence in the current GOP.

Inasmuch as we are toasting the expansion of the administrative state (and thus the demise of our American Republic) we should perhaps also raise our glasses to Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain. All these nations are on the verge of economic collapse due to their fiscal promiscuity. They too love their entitlements and are demanding them even as the ship of state sinks. Portugal is currently running a deficit that is 9.3% of GDP with a debt that is 80% of their GDP. Greece has a deficit of 13% and a debt of 113% of GDP. Just for laughs consider that they are appealing to the United States for financial aid. The U.S. currently carries a deficit that is over 12% and debt that is 94% of GDP. (more…)

There Will Be Revolution!

by Joseph C. Phillips

I’m not crazy about congressional Democrats right now.

As I write this, Congressional Democrats are engaged in a furious partisan battle to pass their idea of healthcare reform. Alas it is an idea the majority of Americans do not share. It is in fact an idea that the majority of congressmen do not share, which is why President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are twisting arms, bribing, cajoling and threatening all manner of mischief in order to eek out a majority vote – or non vote — on a bill the people have made clear they do not want. They may succeed.

revolution

I am not all that enamored of Congressional Republicans either. It is painful indeed to listen to the feigned outrage of so many Republicans who spent years in office redefining the meaning of concepts like “limited Government,” and “fiscal conservative”. Surely they must realize that their inept stewardship over so many years not only opened the door for the leftist now in power, but also rolled out the red carpet for them.

The contract we strike with government holds that citizens will give up certain of our rights in exchange for government protection of our liberty and property. The foundation of that bargain is trust. And that trust must be guarded jealously. Men must trust that their wishes will be respected and that government will not over step its bounds. When that trust dissipates due to the contraventions of officials within the government, the actions of government lose their legitimacy. (more…)

Daily Gut: Daddy Got Us a Pony!

by Greg Gutfeld

So what did we learn this weekend? That the health care reform bill is such a big idea that it doesn’t matter what’s in it. It’s such a big idea, in fact, that that’s all those dopes voted for – the idea. Because they really don’t know what’s in the bill anyway. They couldn’t have – it’s 2,700 pages. This was, essentially, a “yes” vote on Shangri-la.

obama_pony_jpg

The argument was never about health care. It was about whether America can survive when strapped with another massive entitlement program, one in which we’ve been deceived about cost. Essentially Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama (Obamalosi, for short) looked at our crumbling economy, weighed down by three massive entitlement programs (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid), and thought: let’s have a fourth. Let’s go all in on unfunded entitlements.

The worst part? The lies. Seriously: How can anyone say this is going to save money?

I wanna show you a graph from Nick Gillespie’s great piece at Reason.com. (more…)

Obama’s Emboldened: Our Fight Has Just Begun

by Jon Voight

This past weekend I was proud to be part of “we the people” who came down to Washington by the thousands to voice their American rights and freedom to say “no” to what we all knew would change our great America into a socialistic America.  With this Obama health care, we will now face extreme hardships in every way and Obama is now more dangerous than ever.

obama-angry-2

His ego has been fanned and he will stop at nothing to try to pass the cap-and-trade bill and he will force all union members to openly sign their votes.  We must never forget this blatant and dangerous arrogance by President Obama and Speaker Pelosi and every Democrat leader that voted for this destruction of our great country.

Let us put memos everywhere to remind ourselves to vote all of these socialistic extremists out of office this coming November and thereafter. (more…)

Burnt Offering: Lion In Winter

by Robert Davi

So here I am sipping a coffee, it’s 9:30 pm and health care has passed the House. I’ve  listened to President’s Obama’s speech on Fox News and I reflect. What I now have to say many may not agree with, and it will probably piss a lot of you off. But I have never been known not to speak my mind. So here goes…

Leader_In_Search

Go back to the election just over a year ago when I would discuss with some who I encountered who they were voting for and where they stood politically. Not people in show biz but just average folk from cab and limo drivers in different parts of the country, to shopkeepers, waiters, landscapers, and airline hostesses. Across the board, all had their own reason for voting for Obama but one in particular struck me.

He was a driver for a car service that had picked me up. His name was Oscar and he was from South America. I opened the conversation and he was very open, as was I — neither being shy about our point of view — he didn’t care if I tipped or not because I didn’t agree with him, and I didn’t worry about being left in the desert somewhere for disagreeing with him.
