ABC has relented to objections from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and cancelled the unbelievably bad comedy “Work It” after only two episodes.

It’s my guess that with the protests from GLAAD gearing up, ABC felt it would be hopeless to try and defend (note to Canada, you can probably take Detroit).

It also bespeaks a certain prejudice inside of GLAAD who has never said a word about Tyler Perry, Martin Lawrence or Eddie Murphy (who was once known to be quite transvestite-friendly despite his transvestite comedy). Of course, GLAAD has never been terribly courageous about confronting the black community. Political correctness forbids crossing racial lines.

This might reveal a hint as to why GLAAD felt empowered to attack “Work It.” The plot revolved around two men who are forced into women’s clothing just to get a job. Don’t they know that only women are discriminated against in the workplace (and only make three-fourths of a man’s salary)? Perhaps the writers’ ignorance of Women’s Studies 101 made GLAAD think it had been written by conservatives.

“Work It” seemed more of a rip off of “Bosom Buddies,” an equally forgettable sitcom remembered chiefly for launching the careers of Tom Hanks and the other guy, whose name I can’t remember (I think it was Andrew Ridgeley).

I don’t take issue with ABC for pulling the plug. Only half the audience from the show’s premier came back for the second episode (personally, I didn’t even make it to the first commercial). But that doesn’t mean transvestites aren’t funny; they have been a staple of comedy for generations.

I imagine that the first man in a dress routine predated Milton Berle, but that’s all the further back my ambition will let me research (Berle’s tag was the biggest thief in comedy, so I’m quite certain it wasn’t original). The memory of Uncle Miltie trying to walk in high heels, while smoking a cigar, still makes me laugh to this day.

I know that He-Shes were a very popular portion of Circus sideshows and would probably still be today if television hadn’t killed the freak show.

Some of the great movie classics were based on the gender reversal. “Some Like It Hot” saw Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon playing remarkably attractive women. Writers would often find an excuse to put Cary Grant and Bob Hope in women’s clothing, and who can forget Gilligan insisting that he’s not going to dress like a girl? (“You can’t make me, you can’t make me…”)

Probably the funniest cross-dressers were the cast of “Monty Python.” Originally excused by the performers as a means to keep the show under budget, the female characters played by the all-male troupe were some of the show’s most comical moments. It started a tradition in television that inspired other great comedies like “Kids in the Hall,” “Little Britain,” and “Portlandia” here in America. Whereas the Pythons were farcical, modern men actually seem to have mastered the art of playing convincing women. Today, Eddie Izzard packs the theaters doing straight stand-up in full drag.

For the comedy geeks, the reason why drag is funny is because putting a man in a feminine role gives the performer the ability to illustrate the difference between the sexes. It is funny to the eye, but it also allows the performer to make a comic statement about how men and women are expected to act.

Ultimately, the Transgenders of America are tired of being laughed at. They think that if we raise enough awareness, a three hundred pound woman with an Adam’s apple will stop being funny. Unfortunately, it’s just not the case.

“Less Than Perfect” star Sara Rue is coming back to television in a new CW series dubbed “Poseurs.”

That’s assuming the PC police won’t prevent the show from airing in the first place.

Rue’s project has her playing a down on her luck woman who decides to “marry” her female pal in order to maintain “her swanky New York co-op,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sounds like “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” turned on its sitcom head. So far, so good. Gender-based comedies can succeed, witness how the ABC sitcom “Bosom Buddies” launched a young Tom Hanks into the stratosphere.

But the folks behind “Poseurs” better be careful. If one script paints gay marriage in a negative light or tweaks the lesbian lifestyle it could mean another protest from GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).

Just ask the folks over at ABC. The network’s upcoming sitcom, “Work It,” boasts a rather “Bosom” esque premise – two buds go the cross-dressing route to ensure a gig with a pharmaceutical company.

That set up didn’t sit well with GLAAD, and if you recall the apology tour Tracy Morgan performed for his cruel anti-gay rant earlier this year you know the kind of impact the organization can have in Hollywood circles.

Come to think of it, could “Bosom Buddies” have even made it on the air had it been pitched in 2011, not during the late 1970s?

GLAAD is a cancer on all things free speech. They make the backers of the old Production Code and those anti-Communist Blacklisters look like look like Marxist libertines.

The ABC comedy “Work It” doesn’t even premiere until Jan, 3, and already it’s invoking ire from rights groups.

The series has sparked anger from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Human Rights Campaign, who argue that the series could prove harmful to transgendered individuals.

The series stars Ben Koldyke (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Amaury Nolasco (“Prison Break”) as two friends and former coworkers who, unemployed and desperate, take to cross-dressing in order to get hired by a pharmaceutical company that’s looking for female sales reps.

The concept spurred an angry message from GLAAD, which argued that, while the show “does not explicitly address transgender people, many home viewers unfamiliar with the realities of being transgender will still make the connection. ‘Work It’ invites the audience to laugh at images of men trying to adopt a feminine appearance, thereby also making it easier to mock people whose gender identity and expression are different than the one they were assigned at birth.”

GLAAD took particular offense to a print ad for the series, in which the two main characters stand side-by-side at a pair of urinals, while dressed as women.

“Not only does it inadvertently further notions that transgender identities are humorous or artificial, but imagery like this are one of the first things anti-LGBT activists resort to when trying to deny transgender people protections against discrimination,” GLAAD argues.

Oh shut up, you fascist, un-American crybabies.

Because GLAAD believes that anyone who falls under an LGB or T should somehow be immune from satire, these bullies attempt to make the absurd claim that obvious humor will turn into bigotry.

And of course, spineless, gutless leftist Hollywood always falls right in line.

When this squeak qualifies as pushback, all is lost.

Groups like the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the National Organization for Women exist to protect the rights of those too often attacked in the press or in the culture at large.

But their noble missions seem to hit a speed bump when it comes time to defend conservatives who happen to fall into their protective sphere.

Earlier this month, a gay reality show star claimed he was assaulted for being conservative. The incident didn’t draw massive press and outrage, so Big Hollywood reached out to GLAAD for a response. Their reaction was muted and brief:

“GLAAD’s mission is to fight for people, Republican or Democrat, who are targeted for being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. No one should be targeted for their political beliefs either, but advocacy around those issues is outside of our mission. That’s what you guys do.”

At least GLAAD’s reaction to the alleged assault didn’t actively attack the right. That’s precisely the tactic chosen by NOW after it took several days to drum up outrage over a sitting Congresswoman being grossly insulted on a late night talk show:

I am heartened to see that conservatives are learning how hostility toward women in public life functions and and how it feels to be on the receiving end. However, I can’t help but wonder why their outrage is limited to those they condemn as liberals for taking shots at the Bachmanns and the Palins of the world. Rush Limbaugh and his ilk are infamous for using sexist, racist, classist, homophobic remarks against anyone who doesn’t march to his extremist drumbeat. NOW regularly calls out sexism directed at conservative women as well as feminists, and we often speak up to remind everyone, including our political allies, that these types of slurs are harmful to all women, and they need to stop. The Roots’ song choice for Bachmann’s entrance was disrespectful, degrading and juvenile, and the bandleader’s apology was weak. Thankfully, host Jimmy Fallon and NBC stepped up with more sincere apologies. Now, will the right wing start policing its own? I’m not holding my breath. – NOW President Terry O’Neill

You have to read a few sentences in before unearthing the proper outrage.

NOW did far better when Newsweek ran a nasty cover story on Bachmann entitled “The Queen of Rage.” Yet the organization sat on its collective hands when a member of Team Obama treated a cardboard cutout of Hillary Clinton in a disgusting fashion.

So, which is it? Do people on the right deserve the protection of NOW and GLAAD, or is it a case-by-case situation?

When Kelly Osbourne speaks, the culture changes.

That’s what the daughter of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne is hoping, anyway, with her new piece at The Huffington Post. Seems Ms. Osbourne recently used the “T” word – tranny – and knows how much pain and suffering her utterance caused.

Not only will she never use the word again, she wants us all to rise up and join her:

The word “tr*nny” is a derogatory and hurtful word. I was completely ignorant to this and soon came to realize most of my peers and LGBT friends are, too. This is a word I will no longer use or allow. It wasn’t until I googled it after speaking with GLAAD that I found out just how unbelievably offensive it was …

A part of me is happy I’ve made such an awful mistake, because I can now use this as a platform to help speak out against the use of such hurtful and dehumanizing words. With your assistance and support, we can get this word out of television/media. It is still being used today; I’ve seen it four times in the past week.

Anyone heard from GLAAD?

A few days ago I wrote about leftist Hollywood’s fascist attack on Brett Ratner and mentioned that we shouldn’t declare any of this a “gay campaign.” The story below is a perfect example of what I meant. People like Taylor Garrett and Chris Barron are two of many gays and lesbians out there who are not afraid to think for themselves and who want no part of GLAAD’s ongoing bullying campaign to chill free speech.

“The gays” aren’t the bad guys; the left is.

Immediately the left questioned the reality star’s claims. Copies of the police report can be found at the Huffington Post. See photo below of the rock Garrett says was thrown through his window.

A cast member of the gay reality TV show “A-List Dallas” tells The Daily Caller that he was punched to the ground and bloodied Friday night by someone vandalizing his car because he’s a gay conservative associated with commentator Ann Coulter.

Taylor Garrett, a Republican consultant in Texas who stars in the reality series on the channel LOGO TV, said in an interview that he was attacked outside a birthday party in Dallas after finding a vandal scratching “F–k Coulter” on the side of his car.

Garrett said the incident reflects a troubling mindset.

“The Democrats want me to live on their plantation as their slave, because I’m a gay person,” he said. “And I refuse to do that.”

Photos provided by Garrett to TheDC show the phrase about Coulter keyed in large letters across his car. Other photos show Garrett with a bloody ear and blood covering his white shirt.

“I was at a party and one of my friends arrived and I had a present for him, so I went back to my car to get the present,” he recalled. “When I walked out to my car, I saw someone squatting next to my car.”

After asking the vandal what he was doing, Garrett said the large man stood up and decked him in his left eye. Garrett fell to the ground. He also scraped up his body by falling into some glass that was next to his car, Garrett said. The attacker got away.

Daily Caller:

This week, movie producer Brett Ratner was forced out as the producer of the Oscars telecast after using a gay slur on Howard Stern’s radio show. Let me begin by pointing out that Brett Ratner is an idiot. Anyone who uses the slur he used in an interview — even an interview with Howard Stern — is an idiot. However, the real story here isn’t that some idiot in Hollywood said something stupid. The real story is the situational morality and selective outrage of the left — and in particular the gay left.

Where was the left’s outrage when an actor like Orlando Jones joked about killing Sarah Palin? Where is the left’s outrage when Rosie O’Donnell talks about 9/11 being an inside job? Was Jones blacklisted in Hollywood? Was Rosie forced to walk across broken glass and hot coals to beg for forgiveness? No, these and other Hollywood idiots get a free pass because they chose to bash a person or group that the left has decided is worthy of hate and scorn. The hypocrisy is stunning and no group is more stunning in its hypocrisy and its selective outrage than the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Definition (GLAAD).

GLAAD is the leading mouthpiece for the gay Gestapo in this country. While pretending to be the vanguard for tolerance and diversity, the gay Gestapo is actually committed to stomping out anyone who doesn’t buy into their radical left-wing political agenda. For all the talk of “tolerance” and “diversity,” it is clear that there is zero tolerance for ideological diversity with the gay Gestapo.

GLAAD’s tag line is “Words and images matter.” Of course, this didn’t stop GLAAD from giving its “Blogger of the Year Award” to Joe Jervis of the blog “Joe My God.” Jervis’s blog, which has been the subject of a Daily Caller story in the past, regularly attacks gay conservatives. As was pointed out in the Daily Caller story from earlier this year, “Jervis’s site is littered with hateful and misogynistic comments on his message boards …”

Full story here.

Christopher R. Barron is a Republican political consultant and Chairman of the Board of GOProud, a national organization for gay conservatives and their allies. He blogs at Red Barron.

Keep in mind that all this hoopla, phony outrage, and McCarthyism is over the following:

“Rehearsal is for fags.”

And now, because artistic freedom is dead in Hollywood, Brett Ratner is going to get the Tracy Morgan treatment — a THREE YEAR re-education tour:

Following meetings with GLAAD as well as outrage from community members and allies, Ratner issued an apology and today resigned as producer of the 84yth Annual Academy Awards. GLAAD and Ratner are working to convene public discussions featuring leaders in the entertainment industry about promoting fair and accurate inclusions of LGBT people and stories. The discussions will address anti-LGBT jokes and slurs in films and on television today as well as their trickle-down effect into popular culture. The first event will take place in coming weeks with additional discussions to take place over the next three years. Additional details to follow.

“When we sat down with Brett today, he seemed very sincere in his desire to use this experience as a way to begin speaking out against anti-gay language in popular culture,” said Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs and Communications at GLAAD. “We believe his resignation is just the first step and will be announcing a series of concrete actions with Brett in coming days and weeks.”

Actually, this is McCarthyism on steroids. During the witch hunts of the 1950s, at least some fought back and spoke out, but today no one in the industry has the courage to to even squeak in protest. They’re either silent or on board. And someday, if this great Republic of ours survives long enough, honest people will write the history of this era of Hollywood and it will be covered in shame.

Like I said yesterday, this fascistic push has nothing to do with sensitivity or anti-gay bullying or concern for others. Every day, Hollywood defames and roars with bigoted pride against Christians, conservatives and Southerners. This isn’t about bigotry; this is about control.

And it should also be said that contrary to what some of you post in the comments, this has nothing to do with “the gays.” It’s not “the gays” going on a fascist rampage in Hollywood today, it’s “the left.” Don’t fall into that trap. The left always finds wedges and uses them to divide us in furtherance of their sinister goal to take over our lives and control our speech and thought. Not everyone at the Ministry of Truth we call GLAAD is homosexual, and you can bet that not everyone cheering this on is either.

What they all are, however, is leftists. And trust me, they are not offended in the least over what Ratner said. They loved that he said it, because they love any opportunity to bully and terrorize and throw their weight around.

Gay or straight, doesn’t matter. These are bad people. Period.

Almost every day, Hollywood pisses me off with the insults and stereotypes they hurl against who I am and what I hold dear. But the thought of calling for someone to be fired and/or humiliated on some creepy re-education tour– man alive, these are bad people.

Comedians defending other comedians when they’re under attack for being insensitive…

What a novel idea.

First, some background:

Did Ricky Gervais cross the line by being his usual, I-could-care-less-what-people-think-about-me self?

The British comedian evoked online ire after posting a series of tweets referencing “mongs,” once a slur directed at people with Down’s Syndrome, and sometimes accompanying them with photos of him making silly faces. “Two mongs don’t make a right,” read one tweet. “Night night monglets,” he told his followers on Oct. 14.

Criticism came quick. Comedians and Down’s Syndrome advocacy groups have called out Gervais for reviving the word, but he claims “mong” now means something else.

“Well done everyone who pointed out that Mong USED to be a derogatory term for DS,” he wrote, referring to Down’s Syndrome. “Gay USED to mean happy. Words change. Get over it.”

Here’s the latest:

Ricky Gervais has taken a swipe at his fellow funnymen for failing to speak out to support him in the ongoing controversy over his use of a derogatory word associated with Down Syndrome. … Now he’s taken to his blog to predict other comedians will soon be joining his growing list of detractors. Gervais writes, “I love how me using ‘mong’ to mean ‘div’ or ‘gimp’ (and explaining that 20 times) has become… ‘Ricky Gervais abuses Down’s Syndrome children.’ Ha ha. Why children?… I also love how everyone is trying to get in on it too. “We’ll definitely see some comedians on daytime telly discussing how terrible I am, then mentioning their upcoming gig that’s not selling. Good luck to them though… All these people saying it’s ‘disgusting’ and ‘ban him from the telly’… They never liked me anyway. They couldn’t have or they would understand.”

You first, Mr. Gervais.

After a good faith search, I’ve been unable to come up with a single example of Ricky Gervais expressing any support for Tracy Morgan after those fascists at GLAAD trotted him around the country on a re-education tour for daring to target gays in his act. As a matter of fact, I couldn’t find an example of Gervais supporting any comedic talent targeted by GLAAD’s increasingly chilling speech police. Not Chelsea Handler. Not “Saturday Night Live.”

If I missed something, I apologize in advance. If not, it’s still not too late, Mr. Gervais.

It’s also worth nothing that unlike those with Down Syndrome, gays are more than capable of defending themselves. So if I were to ever go PC and enlist in the Humor Police, what Gervais did would be a much higher priority.
