I’ve noticed a lot of my brothers and sisters on the right are up in arms at Law & Order: SVU after last week’s episode. I did not see the whole episode in question but did see a clip where a character played by John Larroquette mentions three well know conservative talk show hosts and calls them a cancer on the land.

Before I get rolling, in the spirit of full disclosure I will admit to being a Law & Order junkie. My DVR is full of my favorite Law & Order: Criminal Intent episodes, which is by far the strongest of the three series. I will also admit that in my mind Law & Order: SVU is to the Law & Order brand what Deep Space Nine was to the Star Trek brand. I have a confession to make; I am a fan of Dr. Michael Savage. Before you get all blue in the face and start screaming at me about how hateful he is I will admit sometimes he says things I don’t agree with. I didn’t agree with everything my grandmother used to say either but I never threw her under the bus when it served my purpose like a certain President of the United States. Dr. Savage sometimes uses language I find offensive but then again so do Barack Obama and a number of his friends.

I have been reading a few liberal blogs today and they are ecstatically gleeful over the news. Mocking Dr. Savage and making sophomoric jokes about his birth name. These are the same creative geniuses’ who made fun of Bush’s intellect and vocabulary and the best they can do is some lame penis jokes? Instead of standing for the basic principle of freedom of speech that is included in the enumerated rights of both nations they applaud the creeping totalitarianism enabled by useful idiots like Home Secretary Jacqui Smith. Ms. Smith is a controversial figure in Great Britain and is embroiled in several scandals involving her financial dealings, spying on private citizens and attempting to revoke Habeas Corpus. If she loses her position there she might make a fine addition to the Obama administration. (more…)

There’s a new gold rush on but you don’t have to head to the hills of California to be part of it.  All you have to do is tune in to talk radio and jot down an “800″ number where a few of the big syndicated shows pimp for the gold merchants.  The ads for these companies are all over radio and television.

I have no problem with a host or show taking advertising from any product.  If Rush wants to run a few Obama ads, no problem. If Dr. Savage can sell ads to the ACLU, I say he should give his sales staff a bonus. I’m a capitalist all for making a nickel who believes in the old saying, caveat emptor – buyer beware.  Yet, it’s different when the host reads the commercial live.  This signifies a level of approval beyond “we let this guy buy ads on our show.” (more…)
