Down Syndrome Advocates Silent on Maher Trashing Trig Palin

by Christian Toto

A national group sworn to advocate on behalf of people with Down syndrome won’t say a peep about Bill Maher blasting Sarah Palin’s children, including Trig Palin, as “inbred weirdos straight out of ‘The Hills Have Eyes.’”

Has Palin Derangement syndrome trumped common decency?

It’s hard to imagine another explanation why groups dedicated to the dignity of people with Down syndrome have been so silent about Maher’s broadside, unleashed during a recent “Real Time with Bill Maher” telecast on HBO.

“And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of ‘The Hills Have Eyes,’ that’s not sexist. I’m saying it because it’s true, not because it’s true of a woman.”

For non-horror fans, “The Hills Have Eyes” involves an inbred family feasting on the flesh of innocent travelers.

The New York-based National Down Syndrome Society “does not have a comment on this clip at this time,” says Jordana Stern, the group’s Communications Associate.

Perhaps the NDSS mission statement, which reads, “to be the national advocate for the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome,” is suspended when the attack is launched against Palin’s brood.

This reporter reached out to multiple people in the Down syndrome community for comment on Maher‘s vicious commentary with similar results.

Larry Flynt: Hollywood’s Free Speech Folk Hero Attacks Down Syndrome Baby

by John Nolte

Something Hollywood does very well is in the using of their formidable talents to turn despicable human beings into something that resembles a lovable folk hero. I’m a fan of Milos Forman’s “The People vs. Larry Flynt.” Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love are both terrific in the lead roles and the well-paced, well-written story succeeds in taking you into the subculture of Flynt’s sordid but undeniably fascinating life. But the Academy Award-nominated picture (actor, director) is pure propaganda. We’re masterfully manipulated into seeing Flynt as an imperfect rogue – our protagonist —  fighting for high ideals like the First Amendment. Through the power of the script and Harrelson’s performance, we’re also forced to side with, sympathize, and even be charmed by someone who at his very essence is nothing more than a depraved pornographer.

Furthermore, by manipulating us to take Flynt’s side we then start to excuse his despicable behavior and look at the way in which he coarsens our culture and exploits, objectifies, and denigrates women (two goals Leftist Hollywood has been pushing for decades) as patriotic pursuits of liberty — as opposed to what they really are.

Below is a look at the demonic heart of the real Larry Flynt, an anti-human nihilist with a cruel streak that takes your breath away just as it did the person interviewing him:

Sarah Palin is the dumbest thing. But I made a fortune off of her. [He made a porn film called Nailin' Palin, based on her],” he said.

Then, he went after Trig, saying, “She did a disservice to every woman in America. She knew from the first month of pregnancy that kid was going to be Down’s Syndrome. It’s brain dead. A virtual vegetable.”

Culture of Cruelty: When Hollywood Attacks Mentally Disabled Children

by Dana Commandatore

Last year, President Obama attempted a self-deprecating joke on The Tonight Show, when he compared his notoriously bad bowling skills to the Special Olympics.  The disability community demanded an apology and the President delivered one to Tim Shriver, Chairman of the Special Olympics Committee.  A few weeks ago, Rahm Emanuel had to repeat the apology when he referred to a group of liberal activists as “f-ing retarded.” Sarah Palin called for Emanuel to be fired and again became a target for shows like The Colbert Report, and Bill Maher

Whether you believe Sarah Palin’s outrage is sincere or think she is capitalizing on a media opportunity, the fact remains our political leaders are speaking like playground bullies.  Why wouldn’t they when it’s perfectly acceptable on prime time television?  I find it incredibly disturbing for pop culture to launch what seems like an all out assault on the mentally challenged when what they really want to do is hurt Sarah Palin.  Recently, Family Guy aired an episode where a character with Down syndrome suggests she is the daughter of Sarah Palin.  Palin blasted the show’s creator Seth MacFarlane and received no apology.   (more…)
