Supreme Court Wrong On Westboro Ruling
by Greg GutfeldSo yesterday, during our ideas meeting, Andy suggested we do something on the latest Supreme Court ruling, which was in favor of Westboro Baptist Church.
To sum up: The father of a fallen Marine had sued the church, saying their protests were intentionally meant to inflict distress. The Court disagreed, saying these creeps had a right to promote their “message.”
We skipped the story because we felt any mention of Westboro is a win for Westboro.
Which is still true, today.
But I’m bringing them up anyway, because, the ruling sucks.
Look – If you can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater – which is an act meant to cause harm – how are the actions of the Phelps any different?
Their whole schtick, after all, is using language and props to incite grieving folks to violence.
That ain’t freedom of speech, it’s a pack of ghouls looking for trouble.
‘Teen Mom’: MTV Promotes Everything but Responsibility
by Greg GutfeldSo MTV had a big year, ratings-wise. And they did it with aspirational programming – the kind that shines a light on positive achievements by young adults everywhere.
Nah, they just filled the ranks with skanks.
MTV General Manager Stephen Friedman explains:
“…We continue to rally the organization around a new brand filter that is clearly gaining traction with the millennial audience.. .”
Meaning, they filled the ranks with skanks.
Fact is, MTV kicked butt thanks to Jersey Shore - a show sponsored by Chlamydia; and Teen Mom – a show that puts unwed motherhood in a snow globe.
Coming back from the airport, I saw one teen mom on the cover of a gossip rag – a nice incentive for girls aleady giving it up to guys with sports logos shaved in their heads. If you’re gunna get poked by a dope, might as well get famous for it.
Now I’m old enough to remember when MTV was just music – before it decided to be the social arbiter for the morally inept. Now that everything to them is a valued lifestyle choice (with the exception of being responsible), MTV has become the “who’s to say?” network. Meaning, who’s to say what’s right and what’s wrong – we’ll shoot it with strobe and back lights. (more…)
Daily Gut: The World Opines on Arizona
by Greg GutfeldSo, if you don’t live in Arizona, especially along the border, can you lighten up on the new immigration law?
I mean, I’m not that into Arizonan’s opinions on whether taxi fares in NYC should be raised. This is the same thing. “All politics is local,” the libs love to say.

Take these U.N. human rights experts – an oxymoron, emphasis on moron. According to them, Arizona’s new law on illegal immigration could violate international standards, whatever that means.
They claim “a disturbing pattern of legislative activity hostile to ethnic minorities and immigrants has been established…that may allow for police action targeting individuals on the basis of their perceived ethnic origin.”
Of course, they leave out the fact that the law already exists (hence the term illegal immigration), or that – as of yet – there hasn’t been an incidence of this so-called targeted police action. (more…)
Daily Gut: Gruesome Newsom Trashes Arizona
by Greg GutfeldSo San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom just announced a ban on official city travel to Arizona, because he claims the state’s new immigration law is “unacceptable.”

Which leads me to explore what Mr. Newsom finds acceptable:
Exhibit A. Turning the world’s most beautiful city, San Francisco, into a sprawling toilet with a half billion dollar deficit. Being S.F.’s mayor should be a dream job. It’s like being King of Gumdrop Village on Rainbow Island. It’s packed with great food, tourists, amazing scenery and fun people. But Gavin has left the city oilier than his own pompadour. If one block doesn’t smell of excrement, it’s because it smells of feces. And vice versa. Gavin has taken a jewel of a city and pooped all over it. Which leads me to:
Exhibit B. Letting panhandlers rule. I’m from the Bay Area, and spent a lot of time wandering SF’s streets, either working, or drunk. Now, no way. The last time I was there, my 85 year old mom was surrounded by the most aggressive panhandlers I’ve ever seen – as we walked over others, apparently napping. Instead of worrying about the potential ramifications of enforcing a law in another state, Gav should address the heaps of humanity that litter his very own streets. (more…)
Daily Gut: Johnny Rotten Says Goodbye to Malcolm Mclaren

Daily Gut: Media Matters — Weekend Weasals
by Greg GutfeldIf you’re like me, and congratulations if you are, then you try to enjoy your weekends. For example, I spent last Saturday in bed, watching my favorite soaps, eating donut holes basted in Nyquil. I call them happy holes – after seven of them, you think you’re an Angoran rabbit.

And this leads me to a key life lesson: Nyquil rules. But also: you know you’ve truly succeeded in life when your adversaries aren’t having fun on their weekends. When someone who hates you spends their Saturdays consumed by hating you, then you can safely say, you’ve won – without even raising a finger.
I mention this because I received a press release, on Saturday…yes, on Saturday…from none other than Media Matters. Yep. Instead of playing t-ball with their kids (or their ferrets dressed as kids), this outlet of internal misery just had to publish a press release about Fox News’s coverage of Haiti. Yep, while everyone else tries to do actual stuff – Media Matters is still using the earthquake to hammer its number-one enemy/one true love. (more…)
Daily Gut: Newsweek – Sad Movies Are Bush’s Fault
by Greg GutfeldNo Gregalogue today, but here’s a clip about the Newsweek article blaming sad movies on Bush! Take a look, take-a-lookers:
Ann Coulter, Professor Marc Lamont Hill, Steven Crowder, and Father Jonathan. (more…)
Daily Gut: Corporations
by Greg GutfeldSo a few weeks back when Obama told those bankers it was his administration protecting them from the “pitchforks” – it made me think.
And as always, when I think, I get confused, sad, and then dizzy. Then I get confused again.
But it was then that I realized I couldn`t recall a single movie depicting a large company as “heroic.” Instead, all you’ll find are films like “Michael Clayton” and “Erin Brockovich,” flicks that only serve to paint corporations as entities driven by evil thoughts, destined to commit evil deeds. In Hollywood, the mugger is always more sympathetic than the manager. (more…)
