Obama’s Speech Wasn’t About Speech

by Greg Gutfeld

So some on the right say that Obama’s plea for civility shows that he gave weight to the idea that incivility caused the mass murder.

It`s a fair point.

But I`m gunna take the “high road,” and not because I`m high.

I want to look at it this way: Obama was like the school teacher at recess who came along to break up a fight. In the course of explaining that it’s wrong to throw punches, he was able to scold the kid who started it.

I would like to think he did that here.

When he said that words didn`t cause the violence, that was a jab at the left and the pliable media who started these attacks against Palin and others in order to chill speech. Remember, for four days, we witnessed the equivalent of a tennis ball machine relentlessly firing caustic accusations at people, who had done nothing. And when Palin finally returned serve, she caught hell for that… from our reasonable media.

Anyway, as much as I would have liked Obama to call out the Jane Fonda’s, the Olbermann’s, the Mahers, and the creepy left-wing watchdog groups, he still made the point. And while I wish it would have been more obvious, so that even Contessa Brewer might get it, that might actually be impossible. I mean, we`re talking about Contessa Brewer. (more…)

On This New Year’s Eve We Drink to the Tea Party

by Greg Gutfeld

So, the focus of this special episode of Red Eye is alcohol.

Or, to be more precise: the Red Eye stories that made us drink the most.

And my pick is the media’s pathetic response to the public’s growing dissatisfaction with President Obama.

The media, befuddled that Captain Awesome wasn’t getting any love from an angry America, imploded. Whined. Fretted.

But these dopes also pointed fingers. Mostly at America. And of course, the Tea Party. As I have said before, the Tea Party is the most organic movement I’ve seen since the time I ate a box of Fibercon.

Yep, the Tea Party is a populist movement so antithetical to trumped up media trends like killer bees, push presents, or manmade global warming, that it actually caused three phony, manufactured movements as a response!

Yep – the gloating Jon Stewart rally, the silly No Labels wussfest and the ridiculed Coffee Party arose because the Tea Party scared the crap out of hacks, who had no choice but to flee to their treehouses and map out a response.

But it wasn’t just them. The Tea Party incurred wrath from the other usual suspects: Matthews, Olby, Maddow, Contessa Brewer, and every other lefty still sleeping in a onesy.

All because they couldn’t control this thing.

Daily Gut: Does MSNBC Want a Race War?

by Greg Gutfeld

So on Tuesday, we did a segment on this black dude who showed up in Arizona where Barack Obama was speaking – with an assault weapon and a pistol strapped to his shoulder. We all pretty much agreed, that despite his actions being legal, it was still idiotic. There are many things in life that are legal, but totally nuts if done at the wrong time. For example, when I shower I’m completely naked – no law against that. However, try showing up nude at a Jonas Brothers lunch box signing – that’s another story (I blame it on the Ambien).

But this leads me to MSNBC, where on Tuesday Contessa Brewer – someone I’d like to see in a shower – filed a report about health care protesters showing up armed. In it, she used tape of that same black man carrying an assault rifle and said “there are questions about whether this has racial overtones….white people showing up with guns.”

Of course, like I said – the guy was black. But you never would have known. Because MSNBC has strategically edited the tape, so the race of the armed dude wasn’t revealed. You just assumed he was white, thanks to Contessa. (more…)

Inside the Letterman/Palin Flap

by John Ziegler

The fact that I’ve needed to correct the record every time I’m involved in some sort of media firestorm (about once a month since the election, it seems), probably says at least as much about the pathetic nature of our news media as anything I put in my documentary “Media Malpractice,” a film whose truth I’ve dedicated almost all of the last year of my life to. The most recent episode involving the controversy over David Letterman’s comments about Governor Sarah Palin and her family is certainly no exception.

First, let me tell you what really happened, and then I can explain what we should all learn from this.  Here’s the timeline…

Monday, June 8th: Letterman uses Palin’s trip to New York to unleash a torrent of  ”comic” attacks on her and her family. The entire “Top Ten” list is devoted to the Governor and includes cracks about her updating her “slutty” wardrobe and possessing illegal drugs. The monologue includes a “joke” about Palin’s “daughter” getting “knocked up” at a Yankees game by Alex Rodriquez during the 7th inning stretch while her mother and a stadium full of spectators presumably watched.   (more…)
