Never mind the cartoon’s irony, that bin Laden had for years mocked America as a “paper lion” and himself been aggrandized as a “Lion of Islam.”

Never mind Leftists screeching against President George W. Bush’s “triumphalism.”

Never mind the First Amendment, or that President Obama had publicly exploited “The Lion King” narrative to ridicule the “Birther” movement in general, and Donald Trump in particular only four days prior at the annual gala dinner event for White House Correspondents, April 30:

Political Correctness grievance-mongers from the university’s African American Student Services (AASS) stormed into action, labeling the cartoon “culturally insensitive, racial propaganda,” and demanding retractions and (show trial) apologies from the newspaper and its editor, Chris Quintana, who hastily and cravenly complied.

AASS’ Christina Foster shouted to a group of 30-strong protesters:

“This is a continual use of racial propaganda… And I stand here today to tell you that is not what we’re going to stand for. This racial propaganda was used to justify the use of slavery and to keep the institution of slavery alive in this nation.”

Christina & Co., how exactly do you believe an obscure political cartoon in a university newspaper can have the power to subvert the fact that it’s 2011, and America has elected a black president, members of Congress, confirmed black Supreme Court Justices, Secretaries of State, etc., but will cause the nation to regress towards slavery? Ridiculous soft bigotry.

Out of curiosity, one could ask where AASS et al. stood when such truly racist political cartoons as this were in circulation? Silently by, one presumes.

The big picture is, of course, that we live in a time of groupthink race-arsonists – coddled by academic/media/governmental nannies — desperate to retain their heckler’s veto power to stifle legitimate and varying viewpoints in the arena of ideas.

First they came for the Danish cartoons… What now?

Ex-California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his return to movies Monday, saying a film version of his much-publicized cartoon project The Governator is in the works.

“First will come (The Governator) comic books, then a (cartoon) TV series and after that we will develop the games and then a movie,” Schwarzenegger told a packed room of international journalists at global TV market MipTV in Cannes. “Maybe then we’ll be back in Cannes for that.”

Schwarzenegger unspooled a short trailer for the Governator cartoon – which comicbook legend Stan Lee is developing together with Andy and Amy Heyward of A Squared Entertainment. German sales group Your Family Entertainment has picked up world sales rights to the project.

The traditional 2-D actioner kicks off with a cartoon Schwarzenegger stepping down as governor of California to spend more time with his family. In reality, he begins a new career as a crime fighter.

The whole thing brings up memories of the threats on the Danish Cartoonists who mocked the prophet Muhammad, or the threats Molly Norris received when she came up with the idea for Everyone Draw Muhammad Day. In both of those cases, the cartoons were mild but they inspired mindless fanatics to threatened the cartoonists with death. Now we have poor man’s Keith Olbermann inciting mob frenzy.

The same Lawrence O’Donnell who recently showed his racial sensitivity when he said about former Republican Chairman Michael Steele:

“He’s dancing as fast as he can, trying to charm independent voters and Tea Partiers while never losing sight of his real master and paycheck provider, the Republican National Committee.”

This is the mental munchkin who called us “mentally disturbed racists” and went so far as tell people where we lived, who our spouses are and suggested they confront us. He’s like a gender impaired metro-sexual Mullah calling for a fatwa on unbelievers. Bad move, Larry. These creators aren’t going into hiding after your psychotic tirade.

MSNBC is nothing more than a low rated publicist for the Democrats and the Obama Administration. Rather than being a news man, he is a sycophantic Obama toadie trying to score points with the few brain cells he’s able to put together to read off a teleprompter. His hysterical hissy fit, worthy of making him a PMS poster child, was probably one of the last gasps of a failing career on a dying network.

Let’s look at his arguments shall we? He said we depicted the president as a half-man, half animal without even showing the art. Larry, baby, this is how they do it in lefty land. And this is the respect they show black men of great accomplishment.

Our cartoon was of a middle-aged couple who happen to be black, having dinner, arguing. It was based on a running gag we ran before and no one said a peep.

That’s because this is all manufactured outrage. A perfect example of the new McCarthyism. Instead of calling people communist, which is something they admire, they call you a racist. They want to shut you down, get you marginalized, ostracized. The R word has been their friend for many years. But now, like MSNBC’s ratings, it’s failing. People don’t automatically jump to that tune anymore. It’s old, played out, like some 90s boy band act, only lamer.

When you reduce someone to their race, you’re making a racist argument. We didn’t do that. He did. O’Donnell is the one who reduced the first family to racial stereotypes in his mind. Sounds pretty racist to me. Take that in context with his Michael Steele comment above and you see a pattern.

Over compensating there, Larry?

Political cartoons have existed for centuries, going back to ancient Roman and Greek graffiti, which mocked the powerful, bringing them down to earth. Holding up a magnifying glass to examine their foibles and peccadilloes. Cartoons exaggerate their appearance to spoof them. In most cases it is meant to be playful. Not always. Sometimes it’s mean, spiteful and sick. When it comes to bigotry and intolerance, the left wins the crown.

Batton and I have always taken the playful road. That’s because we’re not haters.

The fact is, the media attackers weren’t really interested in us as they were in building the meme that Breitbart sites are racist. Even though he has been exposing left wing racism and lies since he started, they’re trying to accuse him of everything they’ve been up to. They wanted to use our cartoons as some form of evidence in their witch hunt.

But it’s not working. On many of the progressive sites people aren’t seeing it.

I urge all my fellow cartoonists not to be cowed by the thugs and haters if they decide to attack your right to dissent. We can’t tolerate modern day witch hunts and character assassination from people who are so morally and ethically bankrupt.

And to all you people who bought into their lies, wake up. You’re being scammed by fools.

But the Post, and some other papers, still pulled it.

Admirably, Post ombudsman Andrew Alexander asked his Style editor why- and he said, “it seemed a deliberate provocation without a clear message.” He added that “the point of the joke was not immediately clear.”

Yeah. That’s why you did it: ambiguity. Weasel.

Anyway, here’s the cartoon.

And here we see another float in the parade of pussies – a callow editor making a cowardly decision based on a fear of upsetting religious fanatics (a fear he cannot even admit to coworkers).

Which leads me to my only point. Why is it that the media keeps reminding us that we shouldn’t exaggerate the threat of a small group of radicals – but completely changes tact, when it comes to their own personal safety?

Think about it: if the average Joe expresses fear or anxiety over Islamic fundamentalism, they are called Islamophobes. But if an editor with balls the size of electrons removes a comic in which Muhammad isn’t even present – that’s not honest-to-Allah Islamophobia?

No, that’s just being sensitive.

Look, the media can’t have it both ways. They cannot criticize the public for concerns over Islam, and then eradicate anything in their midst that they perceive might elevate their risk for getting stabbed buying a chai latte at Starbucks. If their governing principle in the newsroom is fear, then they should admit it – and get the hell off our backs for feeling the same way.
