There was a lot of talk over whether or not this awful incident was set up by Bristol Palin’s production company in order to generate publicity for her upcoming reality show, but that would be hard to believe. For starters, it’s obvious the Palin family is very close and therefore it’s unimaginable Bristol would have anything to do with some jerk calling her mother a “whore.” Furthermore, if the production company did this behind Bristol’s back they would risk having Bristol quit and then they would have no show.

As far as Stephen Hanks goes, he can crybaby about “threats” all he wants. I certainly don’t wish any harm on the man or his dog but when you talk about someone’s mother – anyone’s mother — in that manner, you deserve a little grief in your life. Yeah, he’s a real tough guy around a much smaller woman, but not so tough when facing a version of his menacing and bullying self. 

Never forget that for quite a while now, this raging hater has been throwing a lot more than grief at Sarah Palin from behind his Twitter account. He’s wished nothing less than death on the Governor and has viciously lashed out at Michelle Malkin … and even little ole’ 99 pound, glasses-wearing me.

However, he has apologized and that’s something.

“Having had an opportunity to view the camera footage of the incident this past Thursday at the Saddle Ranch Bar & Chop House in West Hollywood, and having reflected on the incident over the weekend, I have come to the conclusion that no matter what my feelings are towards Sarah Palin, I should not have expressed them towards her daughter, Bristol Palin,” Stephen Hanks said in a statement released by his lawyer to E! News.

The admission comes after, according to attorney Michael J. Gulden, Hanks received a number of threats directed at himself, his family—and even his dog! Hence Hanks’ decision to drop off the grid by shutting down his various social media accounts.

Hanks also says that, as far as he knows, the incident was not a set-up perpetrated by the production company behind her new TV show. He says he didn’t even know that their exchange was being filmed, though, considering Bristol had a crew with her duringher entire time in the bar, that seems unlikely.

Among other things, Hanks called the elder Palin a “whore” and told Bristol that her mother belonged in hell, dropping F-bombs throughout. …

“I am very passionate about politics, and believe in equality for all Americans,” Hanks continued. “I expressed my feelings in an improper manner in the heat of the moment, and allowed my emotions to get the better of me.

“My political views are solely mine, and not those of my friends, colleagues or the establishment for which I work. I apologize to them for my poor judgment that night, and to Bristol for any hurt my actions may have caused her. I wish Bristol success with her television show, and much happiness in the future.”

It does look as thought Hanks closed his Twitter account, @SickofPalin — which means one less morally illiterate troll for me to deal with.

Like I said, I wish no physical harm on Hanks or his pooch, but am I unhappy he’s had an awful week in the wake of his cowardly bullying? Cry me a river, play me a violin.

And  had he done the same thing to Chelsea Clinton or one of Barack Obama’s lovely daughters I’d feel the exact same way.

Hold it against Hanks all you want.

Because too many of us have become desensitized to the vile attacks thrown at the Palin family on an almost daily basis, you have to sometimes imagine these things happening to someone else in order to fully to comprehend just how awful and ugly they are. Imagine it wasn’t 21  year-old Bristol Palin in that bar being heckled by a Hollywood bully, but instead it was one of Barack Obama’s beautiful young daughters being raged against by a tea partier.

“Your mother’s a whore!” “She’s evil!” “Your mother’s the fucking Devil!”

This is unthinkable … and yet it happened.

And the 47 year-old coward who attacked this young mother isn’t some street bum. According to TMZ his name is Stephen Hanks and according to his Twitter feed he runs Stephen Hanks Management in Los Angeles and one of his clients is no less than actor Michael Vartan, who some of you might recognize from the long-running television show “Alias”:

Again, I want to go back to our hypothetical world where Stephen Hanks is a tea partier who screamed “Your mother’s a whore!” at one of Barack Obama’s daughters…

Would Hanks have a career in Hollywood tomorrow? Would the condemnations we’re currently not seeing from anywhere in the industry be pouring in fast and furious? Would Michael Vartan drop him as his manager in disgust or in order to save his own career?

The answer to all of these questions is “of course!”

And who could blame anyone for having that kind of a reaction? I certainly wouldn’t. If anyone in my life attacked one of President Obama’s daughters like that and remained unrepentant it would certainly end our professional relationship and damage our personal one.  

But in the real world where this attack was levelled at a Palin all Hanks did was enhance his Hollywood resume. This will likely help his career, which brings me to another point.

If you want to know why the Hollywood blacklist against conservatives is real and why Hollywood conservatives stay in the closet, look no further than The Stephen Hanks Management Company.

Even the L.A. Times’ own blacklisting-denying blacklister Patrick Goldstein can’t believe that a raging scumbag like Stephen Hanks would even consider doing business with a Palin supporter. Good heavens, he can’t even stand having the Governor’s own daughter on his turf.

Hanks’ outrageously unacceptable behavior will not only be tolerated in Hollywood, many will celebrate it. And not based on principle. Again, this kind of attack waged on one of Barack Obama’s daughters would bring a withering amount of condemnation. 

It’s partisanship, pure and simple.  

Side note: I’m actually familiar with Stephen Hanks. He’s one of the dumber, nastier and therefore memorable trolls who pops up in my Twitter feed every once in a while:

It’s safe to assume that the “Andrew” he refers to there is Andrew Breitbart but you really have to wonder about how self-loathing a gay man has to be to taunt others in this way. He’s using being gay as a perjorative. Interesting, no?

While filming her reality show an abusive scumbag screamed out, “Your mother’s a whore!” Bristol’s reaction? With poise beyond her years, she confronts the 47 year-old loser and calmly asks him to explain his hatred. The 47 year-old loser’s response? More hate and verbal attacks.

Between stalker/liar Joe McGinniss and this kind of stuff which is non-stop, I don’t know how the Palins keep on keeping on. I would either say to hell with it and retire to my DVD collection and out of the spotlight or be in jail after pleading guilty to multiple counts of unbridled violence.

–SEASON FOUR OF ‘BREAKING BAD’ FINALLY PREMIERES

Unfortunately, I don’t have AMC and refuse to pay another $30 just to get it along with 50 lame-ass channels I’ll never watch, so I’ll have to wait for DVD. But wait for DVD I will and with the idea in mind of voraciously eating up each and every episode in a weekend binge.

From the performances to the directing to the writing, the story of a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher who goes into the meth business with fairly good intentions, is some of the best television I’ve seen since “The Sopranos” and “The Wire.”The arc of the characters, especially the main character, Walt (played brilliantly by Bryan Cranston), his wife, and his partner Jesse, is what keeps you glued year after year. Even as they surprise you, the show is so well written and layered that in the end whatever they do makes perfect sense.  

Essentially, “Breaking Bad” is a study of evil; an examination of how there are no half-measures when it comes to dealing with the devil. You can’t dip your toe in a dirty business and expect to hold on to your soul.

With no threat of being accused of hyperbole, I can assure you no dramatic film aimed at adults released in the last five years has been half as good as any episode of “Breaking Bad.” Television is where Hollywood shines right now.

–‘CAPTAIN AMERICA’ DIRECTOR TALKS ‘JURASSIC PARK 4′

Director Joe Johnston via Screen Rant:

“Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level it’s sort of about studios and Steven’s thing and who knows.”

The reviews might have been mixed, but I’m a big fan of “Jurassic Park 3.” Obviously it lacks the wonderment of the first. By this time, your mind was no longer blown by the sight of realistic looking dinosaurs. And I’ll admit that my eyes rolled when kid arrived on screen like something out of “Lord of the Flies,” but if you look at “3″ as B-film, it really works and when our intrepid crew finds themselves in the pterodactyl cage, that’s one effective reveal.

Nothing makes part three sing more, though, than its blissful runtime of 92-minutes.

Let’s just hope that if Johnston directs again he doesn’t kill our buzz by promising audiences that a movie about dinosaurs won’t be “about dinosaurs.” He’s funny that way.

Furthermore, “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau is directing and what a breath of fresh air’s he’s been, especially in the arena of action. He allows you to see what’s going on. There’s a geography to his action scenes that makes sense and that you can follow. It’s too bad that lousy, lazy, shaky-cam addicted filmmakers like Paul Greengrass have set the bar so low that that actually being able to enjoy an action scene is now a draw, but it is.

“Cowboys and Aliens” hits theatres July 29th.

Don Rickles is hilarious in this clip being … Don Rickles. If you haven’t seen 2007’s “Mr. Warmth,” a terrific documentary directed by John Landis that looks at the last comedian still allowed to stick his finger directly in the eye of political correctness, it’s currently streaming on Netflix. May the 85 year-old live to be a 110.

Something I noticed during her interview with Sean Hannity a few weeks back is that even though she’s only been on the national scene for a few years, we’ve really had the opportunity to watch Bristol Palin grow into a lovely and poised young woman. The wicked Left personally targeting her with their wicked Alinsky tactics (and domestic terrorism) during her season on “Dancing With the Stars” has obviously backfired in a major way. Like her mother, Bristol has only come out stronger — with a new book and a reality show that will focus on her work at a small charity.

While the desperate Left tries to label as hypocrisy”  the act of learning from your mistakes, Bristol just keep on keeping on. And that she’s chosen to bring her values into a venue where it is most needed — the world of pop culture — is especially gratifying. 

I don’t know what’s in that Wasilla water, but we should bottle it with the label: Leftist Kryptonite.

And to start 2011 off on the wrong foot, which is the right foot for Griffin, she has pledged to take Willow Palin “down” during this calendar year. Said Griffin during a CNN New Years’ broadcast: “In 2011 I want to offend a new Palin” (and that “new Palin” is only sixteen years old).

In other words, now that the lies about Sarah and the attacks on Bristol’s weight have grown passé, it’s time to find a new way to be offensive enough to get noticed: and that new way is to make sure that Sarah Palin’s sixteen-year-old daughter “[goes] down.”

Think about it folks: Griffin is saying that she, a washed up, fifty-year-old comedian, is dedicating 2011 to verbally attacking a minor. How much more twisted can things get before a news outlet airs footage of a hospital van sweeping Griffin of the streets while Napoleon XIV’s “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” plays in the background?

The precedent Griffin is setting here is quite troubling. For if she has to step up her offensiveness year after year in order to justify her miserable existence, what happens when 2011 is over and attacking a minor isn’t offensive enough anymore? I suppose Griffin will then have to go after Trig (Palin’s youngest): mocking him for having Down syndrome and making sure he goes down in 2012.

Then Griffin can really be the big woman on campus: She can be the comedian who went from lying about Sarah Palin’s sexual escapades, to calling a young mother fat, to taking minors down, to attacking kids who suffer from varying degrees of mental retardation.

Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but none of this is funny.

In her self-made PSA below, Kathy’s reaches out to young gay teens the way tobacco companies hope today’s youth will bum a “fag,” light up, and pay their future bills. In it, Kathy sympathizes with gay kids stuck in a Bible-belt closet because of evil Republicans practicing trickle-down homophobia. Because Hollywood knows what’s best for everyone, Kathy also reminds us of how wrong Prop 8. was, and how the courts must overturn it. Laws only apply when they favor the Hollywood’s agenda, and when the law doesn’t and sides with the majority, Hollywood bullies everyone with a differing view. The only poetic justice in the clip is when she admits, “As you know, officially I’m not a parent.”

Leftist Hollywood shows open contempt for those who don’t tow the liberal line. They dismiss all others as dumb, foolish, evil, or just fat. I’m baffled by straight celebrities such as Kathy Griffin who take up gay causes in the name of moral equality while making a buck off keeping their base fat with hate and the exact same kind of bullying.

I applaud anyone, even Kathy Griffin, for wanting to help today’s youth make it through what has become an increasingly difficult world. But you can’t take the noose off one group people and place it around the neck of another just because you feel the way they live is wrong.

That’s just being a bully, Kathy.

This time it was penned by a “TV critic” for the Washington Post named Lisa de Moraes. De Moraes is well known for constantly injecting left-wing asides into her work and her Nov. 19 attack on the Palins is no exception.

She misled her readers (all 20 of them, I’m sure) right off the bat with her snotty headline, “Sarah Palin tries to lure Bristol’s huge ‘DWTS’ audience to her far less popular TLC reality series.”

What is with this “her far less popular” epithet? This claim is not based in logic.

De Moraes went on with her accusatory rhetoric.

Sarah Palin hopes to lure her daughter Bristol’s 20 million viewers to her own, far less popular, reality TV series this coming Sunday:

“Ah yes…Bristol-the-diva! Silly critics! See her diva-ish-ness Sunday, ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ 2 learn truth, before assuming. Thanks & enjoy!” Sarah Palin tweeted Thursday afternoon.

Of course her every word is but hatemongering, left-wing spin not based on any real truthful analysis of TV. After all, anyone with a basic grasp of the statistics of TV would understand that her sniping was simply not based in reality.

First of all the 20 million viewers that “Dancing With the Stars” gets are not “daughter Bristol’s 20 million viewers.” They are the viewers of the show that Bristol happens to be appearing on for this one season. So, de Moraes’s first snark is not based in truth.

Secondly, Sarah’s Tweet was but a good-natured poke at her own daughter, the sort of ribbing every healthy family indulges with each other. Sure it was an advertisement for her own TLC show, but critic de Moraes is more interested in imputing a darker meaning to the good-natured Tweet: jealousy.

The simple fact of the matter is that TLC’s cable channel does not attract the sort of viewing numbers that any of the old three TV networks attract. So Palin’s TLC show could never achieve the numbers that “Dancing With the Stars” or practically any other network TV show garners.

According to Nielson, for instance, the number of TV households across the country stood at 114.5 million for the 2008-2009 season and the big three appears on all of them. As it stands now, ABC, CBS and NBC rarely get less than an average of twenty million viewers a night of all shows combined on their network in primetime and DWTS got nearly 20 million last week all by itself.

For its part TLC appears in fewer homes than the big three. According to TLC the cable channel appears in 99 million American homes. For those counting that’s a difference of some 15 million fewer homes than the big three.

Another way to compare: for the week of Nov. 8 the top rated non-sports show was “Dancing with the Stars” with nearly 20 million viewers. Yet the top rated non-sports cable show was Nick@Nite’s “Spongebob Squarepants” with just a bit over six million viewers. Cable simply doesn’t come close to the viewers the big three networks get.

De Moraes tried to pretend she was a real critic by adding this:

While Sarah Palin’s new TLC reality series attracted TLC’s biggest series-debut audience ever, that amounted to only 5 million viewers — a tiny crowd compared to the 20-million-ish who have been watching this season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” on which her daughter has made it all the way to the finals. Because, no matter what people might say about cable TV taking over the universe, there’ s still nothing like a broadcast network for reaching a gigantic number of people.

Notice how de Moraess is trying to have it both ways? In one breath she is saying that Palin’s show is “far less popular” yet on the other saying that a cable show can’t possibly get the same numbers as a network TV show. So, even as she admits that trying to compare a cable audience to a broadcast TV audience is absurd, she still rests her entire snarky point on imagining that Sarah’s show is “far less popular” than “Dancing With the Stars.”

Still, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” brought 5 million viewers for its debut episode, a smashing success for TLC. Even wth that success, for de Moraes to try to compare DWTS with Palin’s TLC show is idiotic. It’s apples to oranges… or apples to grizzlies at least. The fact is Sarah Palin’s show could be the most popular show on cable and still not get the numbers that the big three get. “Popularity” isn’t the proper measuring stick and de Moraes knows it.

So, what do we have here? We have a supposed TV critic misleading readers into thinking that Palin’s TLC show is “far less popular” than the show her daughter appears on, we get a TV critic discounting the massive numbers of 5 million viewers Palin did get by presenting that stat as somehow incidental when it is nothing short of amazing, and we get a TV critic trying to paint the momma grizzly as somehow jealous of her cub’s success on DWTS.

This “TV column” is not a reporting on TV. It is a ham-handed, cynical attempt to mislead readers into thinking ill of Sarah Palin, painting her in a bad light, and misconstruing the facts in the attempt.

But last week, the political glory was complimented (and advanced) by the all-out trouncing conservatives gave to liberals in America’s pop culture.

Just think of it: Over the course of just one week HBO aired Dennis Miller’s new stand-up special, Bristol Palin secured a place in the finals for Dancing With The Stars (DTWS), “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” premiered t huge ratings, and President George W. Bush brought the house down on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show.”

While decidedly more libertarian than conservative, Miller’s “The Big Speech” will grate on many liberals because of his ongoing unapologetic support for military actions against terrorism and his abiding love of country. At the same time, his common sense approach to many of life’s quandaries will continue to be a breath of fresh air to the myriad of conservative fans he won to his side in the days and months after 9/11. (This type of approach allows him to remain more comedian than political pundit, yet say of the recent midterm elections: “I think the kids’ table has been in charge for a while now and it’s time for something else. …I’m not anti-Obama, I just disagree.”)

As for Bristol Palin’s ascension to the finals for DTWS, the middle ground is harder to find than it might be with Miller’s show: Her climb toward the top on DTWS has literally driven the Left apoplectic. So much so that liberal bloggers have cried foul, accusing her of cheating and claiming that Bristol has only done this well because “Sarah Palin paid someone off.”

Tweeted another blogger: “These republicans are taking over! They vote Brandy off of DWTS and kept Bristol Palin! Crazy!” And still other bloggers, who lack the couth to blog without resorting to profanities, have indicated in clear language that they believe this will be the last season for DWTS if Bristol does indeed win.

Think about it folks: We have a national deficit that’s gotten so big it almost escapes comprehension, yet liberals are fleeing to medicine cabinets for nitro tablets because Sarah Palin’s daughter has made the finals.

Was last week a great week or what?

Speaking of Palin, her reality show, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” debuted as “the “top rated series premiere in network TLC’s history.” As five million viewers watched that first episode, they saw the kind of woman the National Organization for Women (NOW) hates, because she doesn’t need social programs and pity parties contrived by the Left in order to get ahead in life. They also saw the kind of woman Keith Olbermann deplores, because she can bake cupcakes with her kids and kick the liberal lunacy of open borders in the head at the same time.

Thus, while viewers saw Palin fish, climb rocks, and go glacier hiking, they also saw the 14-foot tall privacy fence her husband built to keep their creepy neighbor from taking pictures of her and heard her say of the fence: “I thought [this] was a good example [that]…others could look at and say, ‘Oh, this is what we need to do to secure our nation’s border.’”

But as good as Miller, Bristol Palin, and Sarah Palin were, the crème de la crème of last week was Bush on Leno. From the moment he walked out on the stage (to a standing ovation), to the moment he and Leno shook hands at the close of the interview, Leno seemed honored, if not apprehensive.

Before an audience that continued to interrupt with applause for various answers given by Bush, viewers heard him defend his decision to make the 9/11 attackers face “justice” and somberly talk about other decisions a leader has to make: like deciding to remain calm in the Florida classroom on the morning of 9/11, because he knew the children were watching him and he didn’t want to react to the news of the attacks in such a way as to scare them.

Bush emerged from the interview a leader again. And this is just one more reason I believe conservatives throughout the nation must be asking themselves if there’s any way this week can be as good as the last.

Bristol Palin, on the other hand, is not from a show business family. She’s an outsider and very likely the victim of show business prejudice. While the masses overwhelmingly choose Ms. Palin again and again to bring back for next week’s show, three elite judges think they know better than the people and continue to vote for…

Yes, the daughter of Joel Grey.

Because who better to choose who will be the people’s favorite stars than coastal elites who wouldn’t know the Midwest if it kissed them on the mouth, who wouldn’t know the South if it felt them up like a TSA agent?

End the tyranny of the DWTS triumvirate.

End the bigoted practice of show business nepotism.

Down with elites.

Up with democracy.

Power to the people to choose their own stars!

Vote for Bristol Palin!
