Hollywood Heckler Apologizes to Bristol Palin

by John Nolte

There was a lot of talk over whether or not this awful incident was set up by Bristol Palin’s production company in order to generate publicity for her upcoming reality show, but that would be hard to believe. For starters, it’s obvious the Palin family is very close and therefore it’s unimaginable Bristol would have anything to do with some jerk calling her mother a “whore.” Furthermore, if the production company did this behind Bristol’s back they would risk having Bristol quit and then they would have no show.

Talent Manager Stephen Hanks

As far as Stephen Hanks goes, he can crybaby about “threats” all he wants. I certainly don’t wish any harm on the man or his dog but when you talk about someone’s mother – anyone’s mother — in that manner, you deserve a little grief in your life. Yeah, he’s a real tough guy around a much smaller woman, but not so tough when facing a version of his menacing and bullying self.

Never forget that for quite a while now, this raging hater has been throwing a lot more than grief at Sarah Palin from behind his Twitter account. He’s wished nothing less than death on the Governor and has viciously lashed out at Michelle Malkin … and even little ole’ 99 pound, glasses-wearing me.

However, he has apologized and that’s something.

“Having had an opportunity to view the camera footage of the incident this past Thursday at the Saddle Ranch Bar & Chop House in West Hollywood, and having reflected on the incident over the weekend, I have come to the conclusion that no matter what my feelings are towards Sarah Palin, I should not have expressed them towards her daughter, Bristol Palin,” Stephen Hanks said in a statement released by his lawyer to E! News.

The admission comes after, according to attorney Michael J. Gulden, Hanks received a number of threats directed at himself, his family—and even his dog! Hence Hanks’ decision to drop off the grid by shutting down his various social media accounts.

Hanks also says that, as far as he knows, the incident was not a set-up perpetrated by the production company behind her new TV show. He says he didn’t even know that their exchange was being filmed, though, considering Bristol had a crew with her duringher entire time in the bar, that seems unlikely.

Want to Know Why Hollywood Conservatives Stay In the Closet? Meet the Bully Who Heckled Bristol Palin

by John Nolte

***UPDATE: Some on Twitter are calling for boycotts of Michael Vartan. To quote a failed president: Let me be clear … I don’t believe in boycotts or guilt by association. My point in bringing up Vartan was to prove Hanks is a Hollywood player in support of my blacklist argument. It’s impossible to work in the world of entertainment and not be associated with a creep in some way. To hold this against Vartan would be extremely unfair and, in my opinion, fighting one blacklist with another.  However…

Hold it against Hanks all you want.

Because too many of us have become desensitized to the vile attacks thrown at the Palin family on an almost daily basis, you have to sometimes imagine these things happening to someone else in order to fully to comprehend just how awful and ugly they are. Imagine it wasn’t 21  year-old Bristol Palin in that bar being heckled by a Hollywood bully, but instead it was one of Barack Obama’s beautiful young daughters being raged against by a tea partier.

“Your mother’s a whore!” “She’s evil!” “Your mother’s the fucking Devil!”

This is unthinkable … and yet it happened.

And the 47 year-old coward who attacked this young mother isn’t some street bum. According to TMZ his name is Stephen Hanks and according to his Twitter feed he runs Stephen Hanks Management in Los Angeles and one of his clients is no less than actor Michael Vartan, who some of you might recognize from the long-running television show “Alias”:

Again, I want to go back to our hypothetical world where Stephen Hanks is a tea partier who screamed “Your mother’s a whore!” at one of Barack Obama’s daughters…

Would Hanks have a career in Hollywood tomorrow? Would the condemnations we’re currently not seeing from anywhere in the industry be pouring in fast and furious? Would Michael Vartan drop him as his manager in disgust or in order to save his own career?

The answer to all of these questions is “of course!”

And who could blame anyone for having that kind of a reaction? I certainly wouldn’t. If anyone in my life attacked one of President Obama’s daughters like that and remained unrepentant it would certainly end our professional relationship and damage our personal one.

But in the real world where this attack was levelled at a Palin all Hanks did was enhance his Hollywood resume. This will likely help his career, which brings me to another point.

Watch Bristol Palin Confront Verbally Abusive Heckler

by John Nolte

—–

While filming her reality show an abusive scumbag screamed out, “Your mother’s a whore!” Bristol’s reaction? With poise beyond her years, she confronts the 47 year-old loser and calmly asks him to explain his hatred. The 47 year-old loser’s response? More hate and verbal attacks.

Meet the Left…

PALIN: “Alright, is it because you’re a homosexual?”

MAN: “Pretty much. And why’d you say I’m a homosexual?”

PALIN: “Because I can tell you are. This is your boyfriend. And that’s why you don’t like my mom.

MAN: “No, that’s not why I don’t like your mom. Your mom is evil.”

And yet no examples. Just hate and bullying.

SEASON FOUR OF ‘BREAKING BAD’ FINALLY PREMIERES

Unfortunately, I don’t have AMC and refuse to pay another $30 just to get it along with 50 lame-ass channels I’ll never watch, so I’ll have to wait for DVD. But wait for DVD I will and with the idea in mind of voraciously eating up each and every episode in a weekend binge.

From the performances to the directing to the writing, the story of a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher who goes into the meth business with fairly good intentions, is some of the best television I’ve seen since “The Sopranos” and “The Wire.”The arc of the characters, especially the main character, Walt (played brilliantly by Bryan Cranston), his wife, and his partner Jesse, is what keeps you glued year after year. Even as they surprise you, the show is so well written and layered that in the end whatever they do makes perfect sense.

Essentially, “Breaking Bad” is a study of evil; an examination of how there are no half-measures when it comes to dealing with the devil. You can’t dip your toe in a dirty business and expect to hold on to your soul.

With no threat of being accused of hyperbole, I can assure you no dramatic film aimed at adults released in the last five years has been half as good as any episode of “Breaking Bad.” Television is where Hollywood shines right now.

Bristol Palin Meets Jay Leno (and Don Rickles!)

by John Nolte

——

Don Rickles is hilarious in this clip being … Don Rickles. If you haven’t seen 2007’s “Mr. Warmth,” a terrific documentary directed by John Landis that looks at the last comedian still allowed to stick his finger directly in the eye of political correctness, it’s currently streaming on Netflix. May the 85 year-old live to be a 110.

Something I noticed during her interview with Sean Hannity a few weeks back is that even though she’s only been on the national scene for a few years, we’ve really had the opportunity to watch Bristol Palin grow into a lovely and poised young woman. The wicked Left personally targeting her with their wicked Alinsky tactics (and domestic terrorism) during her season on “Dancing With the Stars” has obviously backfired in a major way. Like her mother, Bristol has only come out stronger — with a new book and a reality show that will focus on her work at a small charity.

While the desperate Left tries to label as hypocrisy”  the act of learning from your mistakes, Bristol just keep on keeping on. And that she’s chosen to bring her values into a venue where it is most needed — the world of pop culture — is especially gratifying.

50 Year-Old Kathy Griffin Dedicates 2011 to Attacking 16 Year-Old Willow Palin

by AWR Hawkins

Kathy Griffin is a disturbed individual who spends less and less of her time doing “comedy” and more and more of her time personally attacking people with whom she disagrees politically. For instance, last year she referred to sitting Senator Scott Brown’s daughters as “prostitutes,” accused of Sarah Palin of doing sexual favors for John McCain, and intimated that Bristol Palin was fat. Ever desperate for attention, she reveled even in the backlash she drew for being rude and unfunny.

And to start 2011 off on the wrong foot, which is the right foot for Griffin, she has pledged to take Willow Palin “down” during this calendar year. Said Griffin during a CNN New Years’ broadcast: “In 2011 I want to offend a new Palin” (and that “new Palin” is only sixteen years old).

In other words, now that the lies about Sarah and the attacks on Bristol’s weight have grown passé, it’s time to find a new way to be offensive enough to get noticed: and that new way is to make sure that Sarah Palin’s sixteen-year-old daughter “[goes] down.”

Think about it folks: Griffin is saying that she, a washed up, fifty-year-old comedian, is dedicating 2011 to verbally attacking a minor. How much more twisted can things get before a news outlet airs footage of a hospital van sweeping Griffin of the streets while Napoleon XIV’s “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” plays in the background?

The precedent Griffin is setting here is quite troubling. For if she has to step up her offensiveness year after year in order to justify her miserable existence, what happens when 2011 is over and attacking a minor isn’t offensive enough anymore? I suppose Griffin will then have to go after Trig (Palin’s youngest): mocking him for having Down syndrome and making sure he goes down in 2012. (more…)

Kathy Griffin: Bully

by Joseph Lindsey

When overweight girls start committing suicide, will Kathy Griffin stop bullying them?  Only in liberal Hollywood can someone as washed up and discarded by her own personal life be considered someone with a sense of morality and cause. Because her next paycheck is dependant on Leftists, including and especially those Leftists in the gay community, following her from tramp-show to drag-show, Kathy Griffin feeds them what she thinks Leftists want, a steady diet of hate. Hate of anyone who doesn’t see the world through a rainbow prism of race, gender and left-wing politics.

In her self-made PSA below, Kathy’s reaches out to young gay teens the way tobacco companies hope today’s youth will bum a “fag,” light up, and pay their future bills. In it, Kathy sympathizes with gay kids stuck in a Bible-belt closet because of evil Republicans practicing trickle-down homophobia. Because Hollywood knows what’s best for everyone, Kathy also reminds us of how wrong Prop 8. was, and how the courts must overturn it. Laws only apply when they favor the Hollywood’s agenda, and when the law doesn’t and sides with the majority, Hollywood bullies everyone with a differing view. The only poetic justice in the clip is when she admits, “As you know, officially I’m not a parent.”

‘WaPo’ TV Critic Misleads Readers to Smear Palin

by Warner Todd Huston

Most media-watching conservatives have simply been flabbergasted at how the Old Media establishment has so neatly come together to destroy Sarah Palin. The Internet has been abuzz with examples of this attack on Sarah since she was chosen by John McCain to be her number two during the campaign for the 2008 presidential election. Every day there is a new example of it and here is yet another one.

This time it was penned by a “TV critic” for the Washington Post named Lisa de Moraes. De Moraes is well known for constantly injecting left-wing asides into her work and her Nov. 19 attack on the Palins is no exception.

She misled her readers (all 20 of them, I’m sure) right off the bat with her snotty headline, “Sarah Palin tries to lure Bristol’s huge ‘DWTS’ audience to her far less popular TLC reality series.”

What is with this “her far less popular” epithet? This claim is not based in logic.

De Moraes went on with her accusatory rhetoric.

Sarah Palin hopes to lure her daughter Bristol’s 20 million viewers to her own, far less popular, reality TV series this coming Sunday:

“Ah yes…Bristol-the-diva! Silly critics! See her diva-ish-ness Sunday, ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ 2 learn truth, before assuming. Thanks & enjoy!” Sarah Palin tweeted Thursday afternoon.

Of course her every word is but hatemongering, left-wing spin not based on any real truthful analysis of TV. After all, anyone with a basic grasp of the statistics of TV would understand that her sniping was simply not based in reality.

First of all the 20 million viewers that “Dancing With the Stars” gets are not “daughter Bristol’s 20 million viewers.” They are the viewers of the show that Bristol happens to be appearing on for this one season. So, de Moraes’s first snark is not based in truth. (more…)

A Week Where Conservatives Dominate Popular Culture

by AWR Hawkins

When politics, Tea Party style, carried Republicans to a 62-seat gain in the House of Representatives on November 2nd, it really seemed like things couldn’t get any better for conservatives. They had recovered a place in the sun, the likes of which they hadn’t enjoyed since the Republican Revolution of 1994.

But last week, the political glory was complimented (and advanced) by the all-out trouncing conservatives gave to liberals in America’s pop culture.

Just think of it: Over the course of just one week HBO aired Dennis Miller’s new stand-up special, Bristol Palin secured a place in the finals for Dancing With The Stars (DTWS), “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” premiered t huge ratings, and President George W. Bush brought the house down on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show.”

While decidedly more libertarian than conservative, Miller’s “The Big Speech” will grate on many liberals because of his ongoing unapologetic support for military actions against terrorism and his abiding love of country. At the same time, his common sense approach to many of life’s quandaries will continue to be a breath of fresh air to the myriad of conservative fans he won to his side in the days and months after 9/11. (This type of approach allows him to remain more comedian than political pundit, yet say of the recent midterm elections: “I think the kids’ table has been in charge for a while now and it’s time for something else. …I’m not anti-Obama, I just disagree.”)

As for Bristol Palin’s ascension to the finals for DTWS, the middle ground is harder to find than it might be with Miller’s show: Her climb toward the top on DTWS has literally driven the Left apoplectic. So much so that liberal bloggers have cried foul, accusing her of cheating and claiming that Bristol has only done this well because “Sarah Palin paid someone off.” (more…)

Big Hollywood Endorsement: A Vote For Bristol is a Vote Against Nepotism, For Democracy

by Hollywoodland

Big Hollywood has never endorsed anyone before but under the circumstances, we felt it was time to make an exception. Tonight on “Dancing With the Stars” one contestant will take to the dance floor who was born into privilege, benefited from her parent’s famous name, and likely would not be where she is today were it not for the immoral practice of nepotism. We of course are talking about Jennifer Grey, daughter of Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Tony Award-winning actor Joel Grey.

Bristol Palin, on the other hand, is not from a show business family. She’s an outsider and very likely the victim of show business prejudice. While the masses overwhelmingly choose Ms. Palin again and again to bring back for next week’s show, three elite judges think they know better than the people and continue to vote for…

Yes, the daughter of Joel Grey.

Because who better to choose who will be the people’s favorite stars than coastal elites who wouldn’t know the Midwest if it kissed them on the mouth, who wouldn’t know the South if it felt them up like a TSA agent?

PFAAD Says Fight the Hate!: All Jokes Targeting Sarah Palin Must Stop … For the Children

by John Nolte

If the Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD)  has taught us anything over the past few weeks during their PC rampage against free speech – specifically regarding “tranny” jokes airing on television and “electric cars are gay” jokes told on film — it’s that seemingly innocent humor can, among other tragic things, result in violence and/or bullying. So in the spirit of GLAAD’s righteous crusade, I’ve gone ahead and created a new civil rights organization, PFAAD, or the Palin Fan Alliance Against Defamation.

Friday evening in Los Angeles a Hazmat team was dispatched to the CBS offices of “Dancing With the Stars” after staffers there opened an envelope that TMZ says was addressed to Bristol Palin, and discovered it was filled with a white powder substance. Thankfully, it was found to be nothing more than talcum powder, but if the reports prove true the intent seems clear: someone’s determined to bully and/or terrorize  Bristol Palin and the DWTS staff. Even more troubling is that this comes just a couple of days after a Wisconsin man, enraged by Ms. Palin’s DWTS win, fired a shotgun round into his television and then engaged in a 15 hour standoff with police.

Inspired by GLAAD, I blame MSNBC, “The View,” Tina Fey, Joy Behar, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Kathleen Parker, and of course David Letterman for both of these incidents. After all, if “electric cars are gay” jokes provoke tragedy, what are we to make of  the steady drumbeat of Palin criticism, hate and ridicule coming from our comedic and political class, a steady drumbeat that has so far resulted in an act of gun violence and terrorism in just one week. Pop Culture Concern Trolls Attack Bristol Palin: ‘DWTS’ is Doomed, I Tell You! Doomed!

by John Nolte

***The first name of Eric Deggens has been corrected.

Please keep in mind that both of the pop culture writers quoted below do not in any way have it in for Bristol Palin, daughter of dreaded Sarah, personally. Because that would just be too sad of a commentary on what a pathetic waste of shallowness they both are. So this isn’t about politics or some immature form of animus or hate towards an innocent young woman. No, no, no… This concern is a genuine one for the credibility of a very important reality show, for the future of “Dancing With the Stars,” for what’s best for these here United States of America.

Nothing brings out the Left’s hate faster than a happy Palin….

In fact, Cynics, feel free to jump in your Alternate Universe Machine and you will see the exact same writers writing the exact same columns with one of President Obama’s lovely daughters in the exact same situation.

Now that I’ve met my sarcasm quota for the week…

Over at something called Popeater someone named Rob Shuter, who has one of those cute profile photos where he cleverly puts hand to chin, serves up this hilarious headline: “Insiders: If Bristol Palin Wins, ‘Dancing’ Is Ruined“.

Really? Ruined? One of the most popular shows on television is doomed if the most popular contestant wins? Sounds as though television’s changed some since I stopped watching in the mid-90s. Because something like that happening would most certainly be a first. (more…)

Palin Derangement Syndrome: Bristol’s ‘DWTS’ Success Drives Man to Shotgun TV

by John Nolte

Let’s see, Governor Sarah Palin’s breaking viewership records on TLC and her daughter Bristol is the star of one of the top shows in all of television. Yep, it’s hard out here for a hater.  Didn’t the Palins get the message from the Left? They’re supposed to be defeated, humiliated, hiding and licking their wounds by now. Not thriving, not conquering in both the political and pop culture worlds.

These Palin triumphs are really nothing more than mean-spirited bullying, especially in light of Obama’s growing pile of failures. If the Palins cared about the world’s children they would stop being an appealing, happy, loving and politically influential family and just go away. But obviously they hate the world’s children — and 66 year-old Wisconsin alcoholics with access to firearms.

Funny how the same people who want to give every kid a trophy are made so furious by what they see as advancement on a reality show not based on merit.

The Smoking Gun:

Like most Americans, Steven Cowan has been perplexed by Bristol Palin’s curious ability to keep advancing in TV’s “Dancing with the Stars” competition.

However, unlike other viewers, Cowan, 66, allegedly became so enraged by Palin’s success that he actually fired a shotgun round into his television, triggering a 15-hour standoff with Wisconsin cops.

According to a criminal complaint, Cowan’s wife called police Monday evening to report that her husband had blasted the TV and was threatening to kill himself. Cowan, who had been drinking, became angry while watching Palin, 20, perform on the ABC program. (more…)

Leave the Kids Alone: ‘Tonight Show’ Seats Crude Sarah Palin Hater Next to Her Daughter

by John Nolte

UPDATE: Gawker also wonders if Jay Leno was in on the “joke”:

After Louis C.K.’s drunken ‘twitter rampage’ in which he called Sarah Palin a “C*nt-Face Jazzy Wonder Girl”, we were surprised at the little amount of fanfare that erupted when Louis and Bristol Palin appeared together on the Tonight Show Friday.

Personally I like to imagine Leno was in the know and he’s just far more of a sociopath than anyone expected—making then perform together for his own sadistic pleasures[.]

It’s no secret in show business comedy circles or to anyone with access to Twitter that comedian and television star Louis C.K. is crudely and sexually obsessed with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin — so much so that he sends her direct tweets calling her the vilest of names [NSFW screen shot below]. The star of the FX series “Louie” not only savages the former Governor in such a way that I’m forced to publish the evidence below the fold with a strong warning, but his breathtakingly vicious attack on Trig Palin is quite popular on YouTube.

louisck1Louis C.K.

So infamous is Louis C.K. for this cruel and misogynistic (a word I don’t use lightly) behavior towards all things Palin, that a good number of his fans didn’t miss the “joke” when he appeared with Bristol Palin on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” last week. Gawker sure enjoyed it. Therefore, there’s little doubt in my mind that the decision to book Louis C.K. and Bristol Palin — to have them sit next to each other on  the “Tonight Show,” was an intentionally smug inside joke in order to allow a bunch of elitist show-biz and journo types to chuckle behind Bristol’s back as she was unknowingly humiliated on national television in front of all of Hollywood.

If we’ve learned anything about some show-bizzers since Governor Palin stepped into the national spotlight, it’s that they are a bottomless pit of dark-hearted hate and cruelty. To intentionally humiliate a politician’s family, especially her children, is so far beyond the pale… But to go after a child with Down Syndrome. I’m simply speechless.

And never did I think I’d see the day — but here we have Johnny Carson’s storied “Tonight Show” brought to an all-time low where, apparently, it’s in on the joke:

—–

WARNING: What you’re about to read and watch below would win the Gold Medal at the Degenerate Olympics. Also, although Twitter hasn’t verified Louis C.K.’s account, we have done so through two separate sources — both of whom love his Palin-hate.

Poor Andrew Dice Clay. He might still be a superstar had Sarah Palin been around in his day to turn what he said into a Hollywood Resume’ Enhancer.

Entertainment Media Finds Any Excuse to Blast Sarah Palin

by Billy Hallowell

The entertainment media’s treatment of Sarah Palin and her family has been abhorrent.  Like their biased and unjust hard news media brethren, entertainment outlets have gone out of their way to tarnish Palin’s image.  While tabloids, semi-legitimate entertainment programs and celebrities issue incessant praise for President Obama and his leftist policies, Palin is showered with insults and inappropriate slurs. And let’s not forget the ongoing insensitive questioning about the birth of her special needs son, Trig.

Levi Johnston and reality star Kathy Griffin

Since the end of the 2008 campaign, some of the most glaring examples of the entertainment media’s obsession with anti-Palin coverage have centered on Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol Palin’s baby.  Levi, a guy who would be better suited to appear on Tool Academy than he would on any legitimate hard or entertainment news program, has been reaping the benefits from his connection to Palin.  In addition to his highly-publicized Playgirl shoot, Levi has been circulating entertainment shows in an attempt to pass off his melba-esque persona as something less than bland. Levi Johnston and the Middle-American Minstrel Show

by Kurt Schlichter

Levi Johnston’s shameless exploitation by the liberal media is more than just a convenient cudgel for bashing Sarah Palin.  It’s a modern minstrel show, with “Middle American” substituted for “African-American” as Levi capers for his condescending media “friends” wearing figurative blackface. And just as the minstrel shows of the past were tools to reinforce prejudice, the Levi Johnston show is meant to reinforce the prejudices and smug sense of superiority of its elitist liberal audience.

Levi is the Kevin Federline of American politics, a good-looking, not-too-bright guy catching a break by impregnating a rising star, or at least one’s daughter, then basking in the reflected glow.  When things went south with Bristol Palin, he found, in a mainstream media eager for anything that might derail the Sarah Palin express, an opportunity to go farther than he ever thought he could.  Movies, modeling, memoirs – anything was possible, they assured him.  Just tell us what we want to hear, Levi – the good stuff, the juicy stuff, the stuff too good to fact check.  Oh, and hand over your dignity while you’re at it. NBC’s Reality TV: To Catch a Terrorist

by Mark Tapson

When I learned of a new NBC-TV series called “The Wanted,” about an elite investigative team tracking down terrorists-at-large, I naturally assumed the terrorists in question would be Homeland Security priorities: white Christian conservatives building abortion clinic bombs in church basements, anti-government Tea Partiers, and disgruntled military veterans, whose volatile mix of post-traumatic stress disorder and paranoia of big government could cause them to snap at any moment and take out the nearest Obama-appointed czar (after all, there are more czars than there are Secret Service agents to protect them).

Imagine my astonishment when I discovered that “the wanted” of the show’s first two recent episodes (you can see them here; four more have been produced but are not presently scheduled) were Islamic terrorists.  This is an encouraging new development, considering that Western governments and media have increasingly made taboo any reference to a connection between Islam and acts of terror (of course, the Islamists themselves never got that memo, because they insist on quoting Islamic theology to justify their murder and mayhem). And the left-leaning entertainment industry has virtually ceased pitting heroes against the real-world threat of jihadis, falling back instead on more fashionable stock bogeymen like corporate executives, Marvel Comics supervillains, and, well, corporate executives.  (more…)

Inside the Letterman/Palin Flap

by John Ziegler

The fact that I’ve needed to correct the record every time I’m involved in some sort of media firestorm (about once a month since the election, it seems), probably says at least as much about the pathetic nature of our news media as anything I put in my documentary “Media Malpractice,” a film whose truth I’ve dedicated almost all of the last year of my life to. The most recent episode involving the controversy over David Letterman’s comments about Governor Sarah Palin and her family is certainly no exception.

First, let me tell you what really happened, and then I can explain what we should all learn from this.  Here’s the timeline…

Monday, June 8th: Letterman uses Palin’s trip to New York to unleash a torrent of  ”comic” attacks on her and her family. The entire “Top Ten” list is devoted to the Governor and includes cracks about her updating her “slutty” wardrobe and possessing illegal drugs. The monologue includes a “joke” about Palin’s “daughter” getting “knocked up” at a Yankees game by Alex Rodriquez during the 7th inning stretch while her mother and a stadium full of spectators presumably watched.   (more…)

Lonewolf Diaries: Republicans Need to Grow a Sense of Humor

by Steven Crowder

Yes, you’ve read correctly. To all of you GOP types playing the “offended” card on a daily basis… Prepare to have your feelings hurt, because according to my carefully calculated research… Republicans need to shut up and laugh a little.

Never has the GOP’s lack of funnybone been on sharper display than the last 5 months. For a party that claims to “shun political correctness,” we’ve certainly done a good job of embracing it. Over the past 150 days there have been three “media-worthy” politically incorrect moments related to this administration and Republicans have managed to jump on each one of them for political gain. All to no avail. Let us examine:

Exhibit A

Barack Obama’s Special Olympics comment on Leno. – On air, President B. Hussein Obama made a self-deprecating joke in regards to his bowling abilities. He made the implication that he was so bad at bowling that his skill level resembled that of a mentally challenged athlete. Twas a surprisingly funny, off-handed moment for a generally very unfunny president.

Republicans, however, decided to act as though they were appalled by this and ran with the “you can’t make fun of retards” theme. (I’m paraphrasing here of course, but you get the picture.) I believe that somewhere in the middle, Sarah Palin and her son Trigg were tied into the whole fiasco. The media took little notice and sharp comedians like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert managed to successfully lampoon Conservatives for being humorless old bags. That’s one for you, Democrats… (more…)

The Imus Standard: Should Letterman Be Fired?

by Pam Meister

A friend of mine sent a link to a website that advocates CBS firing late-night host David Letterman for his over-the-top jokes about Sarah Palin and her children. The site tells readers what they can do to help make this firing happen.

But should Letterman be fired?

His so-called jokes were crass and tasteless. Not only did he refer to Palin herself as being “slutty,” but he used a crude sexual reference to Palin’s 14-year-old daughter Willow, whose only sins are the fact that she is a Palin and she attended a Yankees game with her mother in NYC. (more…)
