Roseanne, the Red Queen

by Matthew Vadum

Although the revolutionary bloodlust of the Left is never far beneath the surface, sometimes it takes a crisis to bring it out into the open.

Take the case of Roseanne Barr, a self-described socialist and proud ACORN member. As part of her vanity campaign for the presidency, the unfunny comedian has managed to make liberal Hollywood crusader Susan Sarandon seem like a thoughtful moderate.

Barr is now calling for the forced reeducation and murder of wealthy Americans just as Bill Ayers’s Weather Underground Organization proposed decades before.

When meeting with the radical demonstrators occupying Wall Street, Sarandon recently stressed the importance of strengthening so-called campaign finance reform and improving governmental transparency.

Barr, on the other hand, communed with the hippy rabble in lower Manhattan and then took to the airwaves to urge that a French-style Reign of Terror be visited on the heads of those with incomes she considers excessive.

“Part of my platform is, of course, that the guilty must be punished and that we can no longer let our children see their guilty leaders getting away with murder,” Barr told Max Keiser of Russia Today (RT). “Because it teaches children that they don’t have to have any morals as long as they have guns and are bullies that they’ll win and I don’t think that’s a good message.”

“I do say that I am for the return of the guillotine and that is for the worst of the worst of the guilty,” Barr deadpanned.

Breitbart Punches Back on ‘Real Time,’ John Waters Steals the Show

by John Nolte

Smitten by her blonde curls and still blissfully unaware of how cruel the world could be,  at the age of eleven I called my first crush on the phone fully confident it would end with the beginning of a lifelong romance.  Yes, I had watched many a friend go down in a flaming ball of fail in similar situations, watched them die slow deaths brought on by awkward pauses and fits of panic blanking the mind. But that wasn’t going to happen to me. I had learned from their trauma. There was no way anything could go wrong because I … had written a script that laid out every possible conversational scenario…

If you’re wondering how my pathetic little phone call went,  watch Laura Flanders’ sorry attempt (video here) to confront Andrew Breitbart. Methinks that the moment Flanders learned she would be on national television seated next to Breitbart, visions of liberal glory popped off in her fevered mind as she plotted to publicly demand he apologize to Shirley Sherrod.

Train meet wreck. Ooh, that left a mark. But the truth usually does.

I was in the audience last night (pretty sure that’s Alex Marlow and I clapping all by our lonesome at the 11:05 mark), and while the crowd (who took our solo applause in stride) was obviously on Flanders’ side politically, her humorlessness eventually cost her their sympathy. Throughout the night, she tossed out one wet blanket after another with her joyless left-wing talking points that violated the spirit of the conservation. Eventually, in the “Overtime” segment, Breitbart turned to her and said:

‘Chicago Code’ Review: A TV Show That Dares Remind Us of Bill Ayers

by Hollywoodland

Ed. Note: A reader emailed about this specific episode and I asked him if hr would be kind  enough to write something up we could use. Many thanks! – J.N.

The Chicago Code (Monday nights on FOX) is the latest creation of Shawn Ryan, who also gave us The Shield. Set in the early stomping ground of one Barack Obama, I was slightly enthused that the title would remind people of corrupt Chicago politics throughout the 2012 campaign season, but expected a few sucker punches along the way. The lead character is police Superintendent Colvin, portrayed by Jennifer Beals, and her nemesis is city Alderman Gibbons portrayed by Delroy Lindo. Beal’s Colvin is a Chicago native who watched her small businessman father destroyed by the pervading corruption of Chicago. Everyone from the local beat cop to minor city officials demanded their cut from the struggling businessman. Colvin is determined to uproot some of that corruption and her target is Alderman Gibbons, the man who recommended her for her position.

—–

A frontal assault is out of the question so Colvin recruits her former partner, a legendary Chicago cop named Wysocki, who is portrayed by Jason Clarke. Together they launch an unofficial investigation against Gibbons…

The episode that prompted this review was called Cabrini Green, after the notorious public housing project that became synonymous with hopelessness and crime. One plot line took the cast back to the crimes of the sixties. Someone was planting crude bombs that were similar to the kind of bombs planted by a radical groups protesting the Vietnam War.

Stop me if you’ve heard this…

A person of interest ran with this radical group that was responsible for the deaths of three people. This man was on the run for many years before surrendering himself and being acquitted at trial. Today this man is a respected, tenured college professor who, as an author, has written about education in the United States. It is implied that this former radical is friends with high-powered politicians.

Not to give it away, but the ending was more satisfying than reality.

Top 25 Left-Wing Films: #18 – ‘Running On Empty’ (1988)

by John Nolte

“What I did was an act of conscience to stop the war.”

Why it’s a left-wing film

Loosely based on the life of Barack Obama’s pals, domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn; a couple of privileged kids who grew up to co-found the Weather Underground and wage war on their own country (including the bombing of the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol), director Sidney Lumet’s “Running on Empty” tells the story of the Popes, a family always one step ahead of the Feds due to the fact that 14 years ago Mom and Dad — Arthur (Judd Hirsch) and Annie (Christine Lahti) — permanently blinded and paralyzed a janitor they didn’t know was in the military lab that they themselves bombed as members of their own domestic terrorist group. The year was 1971, the lab was making napalm, the Vietnam War had to be stopped, who can blame them?

Certainly not the film. According to the film, their sin wasn’t waging war against their own country, their sin was not making sure the building was empty before detonating the bomb. And the price of that sin is not the act of turning themselves in and paying for their crime, the price is living the oh-so burdensome life of fugitives always on the run and who deserve our sympathy for their desperate and noble act of trying to keep their family together.

What Lumet and his screenwriter Naome Foner fail to recognize, though, is that Arthur and Annie’s act of “holding the family together” is just another act of baby boomer narcissism. While portrayed as loving and selfless, these are parents who unforgivably committed an act terrorism when their now 17 year-old son Danny (River Phoenix) was only a toddler and then later went ahead and brought another child into their lives as wanted criminals (10 year-old Harry).

Parents don’t get much worse than that. (more…)

Drug Felons & Eternal Unemployment Benefits

by Greg Gutfeld

So last week, in the Rose Garden, President Obama paraded out three jobless folks, using their plight to implore Congress to extend unemployment benefits.

One of them was a delightful woman named Leslie Macko.

unemployed-unemployment-checks

Here’s what he said about her.

“We need to pass it for Leslie Macko who lost her job at a fitness center last year and has been looking for work ever since because she eligible for only a few more weeks of unemployment, she’s doing what she thought she’d never have to do. She’s turning to her father for financial support.”

Well, our President was right – she did lose her job (giving facials!), but it might have been for good reason. It occurred one month after she pleaded guilty to felony prescription drug fraud, in March 2009.

And so, this raises the question: with so many millions of jobless folks out there, why did Obama’s flacks decide to exploit one charged with felony drug fraud? (more…)

Daily Gut: The MSM’s Radical Islam Blind Spot

by Greg Gutfeld

Okay, here’s my favorite headline of the day – no, make that year.

Take a look-see, for yourself, see.

Yes, the AP headline reads: “NY car bomb suspect cooperates, but motive mystery.”

Yeah it’s only a mystery if you’re in the media, and really stupid. Everyone else pretty much understands why the terrorist left a fuel bomb in an area filled with families.

shahzad

He hates us. He hate our country, our culture. He wants you dead.

But the media – an entity full of fragile egos and bubble-encased boobs – just can’t see that. In fact, it’s kinda awesome how huge and gaping their blind spot toward radical Islamic fundamentalism is. If only there could be other motives for the mayhem, so they’d never having to place blame on anything (except America, of course).

So I thought I’d help them out, and find motives the media could be comfortable with.

So why did Faisal Shahzad try to blow up Time Square? (more…)

A Thief in the Night: Veterans’ Land Grab

by Jeani DiCarlo

Did you ever have an encounter with a thief? If not, how many times have you read or heard about their sudden attacks in newspapers or TV and thought or gasped, “I hope that never happens to me”?

Well, it is happening. As I write this, we have politicians all over the country stealing from us. Many of you are now more than aware of this new Cap and Trade bill brought to us by “our” representative in the 30th district of California, Mr. Henry Waxman. Well, you may also want to know that Mr. Waxman has been quite busy these days not only promoting the biggest tax in history, but also by helping to give away land he does not own.

Whose land?

The land of our revered Veterans. (more…)

Dylan’s Outhouse – Smells Like ‘Rank’ Hypocrisy

by Pam Meister

In all of the uproar about how the stinky porta-potty at Bob Dylan’s Malibu compound is making his neighbors ill, has no one stopped to think about the rank (pardon the pun) hypocrisy on the part of Dylan, who made his fortune singing songs about the downtrodden, the disenfranchised, the haves versus the have-nots?

In this Red Pepper article reviewing the politics of Dylan’s music during the 1960s, we learn that… (more…)

The Obama Hollywood Fallout

by Rodney Lee Conover

Good news for anyone connected to President Obama: Hollywood may soon be calling.

That’s right, not just the rich, famous or politically connected; but your average, everyday working person with some sort of connection to the newly installed First Family could very well be on their way to big-time celebrity.

Because according to The Hollywood Reporter, a company called, ‘44 Blue Productions’ is pitching a reality show to cable networks, starring one Johnny Wright — who has been Michelle Obama’s hairstylist for the past year. I figure this is good news for lots of folks. (more…)
