Gene Simmons Rocks Sundance: Robert Redford’s a One-Percenter and Obama’s a Rookie

by AWR Hawkins

The Sundance Film Festival is where one-percenters gather to hurl stones at haughty, out of touch (Republican) politicians whom they claim are hurting the ninety-nine percenters. This year a curious thing happened: Gene Simmons rolled in and cleaned house.

The bassist for KISS, who can always be trusted to speak his mind and who, unlike many other entertainers, actually has something to say, gave us his take on Robert Redford, President Barack Obama, and Mitt Romney.

Regarding Redford’s statements against one-percenters, statements that only Occupy Wall Street types could love, Simmons said:

He means well, he’s a great guy. But it’s a bit hypocritical, since he’s part of the one percent, to address the 99 percent.

Simmons then went to speak to that fact that he doesn’t like all the class warfare, all the dividing of people into different camps.

Either we are all Americans, or you’re going to fall victim. This is the reason why the old Roman Empire died, it fell from within. Division from within is one of the stupidest things you can do.

Regarding Obama, Simmons basically called him a rookie, and stated anew his regret for supporting him in 2008.

Sarah Silverman, Obama’s Great Jewish ‘Schlepper,’ Tweets from ‘Palestinian Territories’

by Joel B. Pollak

Sarah Silverman, who helped Barack Obama campaign for the Jewish vote in 2008, has changed her Twitter location to “Palestinian territories,” in a possible attempt to reach out across the Jewish-Arab divide–or, just as likely, in an effort to tweak pro-Israel sensibilities.

Silverman certainly catches her share of flak from the anti-Israel left; she was recently criticized simply because a pro-Israel group happened to buy a bloc of tickets to one of her shows.

But to the extent that she is trying to strike a critical pose–as she did in a recent tweet lampooning Newt Gingrich’s staunch pro-Israel views–there is no better illustration of why Obama risks losing pro-Israel support in the 2012 election.

On the one hand, Obama is attempting to claim he has not just been pro-Israel, but more pro-Israel than any president in American history.

On the other, his penchant for confrontation with the Israeli government, and the anti-Israel passions of his core left-wing supporters, tend to undermine his pitch. Democrats are trying to redefine what it means to be pro-Israel–and it’s not quite working.

Silverman’s posture is an example of that contradiction–not because it’s axiomatically “anti-Israel” to be pro-Palestinian, but because those on the pro-Israel side who support a two-state solution have become increasingly aware that their empathy is not reciprocated. It is hard to imagine a Palestinian actor provocatively setting her location to “State of Israel,” for example.

In 2008, Silverman led “The Great Schlep,” an effort to bring pro-Obama Jews to Florida to convince their allegedly racist grandparents to give the black candidate their swing-state vote. Part of that effort included reassuring Jews about Obama’s support for Israel: “Barack Obama’s foreign policy is much more stabilizing than John McCain’s, and much better for Israel,” Silverman claimed.

It’s harder to make that case today, when Obama–and, now, Silverman–seem to be at pains to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause (and when the Middle East is more unstable today than in 2008). (more…)

Obama Celeb Wish-List: Jonas Brothers Targeted to Indoctrinate your Kids

by AWR Hawkins

On January 12, the Tennessean ran a story highlighting President Obama’s pursuit of celebrity backing for his re-election. In the body of the story, the newspaper released a list of 194 “celebrities” whom Obama is counting on to carry water for him between now and Nov. 2012.

The list contains celebrities you’d expect to see listed. Singers Marc Anthony, Jay-Z and Fergie, NBA players Vince Carter and Grant Hill, CEO Warren Buffett, and the well known “philanthropist” Chelsea Clinton (she’s described as a philanthropist on the list) all made the cut. None of this is too surprising until you scroll on down and find Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas listed as “surrogates” for Obama’s re-election.

Upon seeing their names, my first thought was: “Wow, children’s television stars. I guess after they teach our kids how to count they can teach them to vote for Obama.” After all, kids are their target audience, as the kinds of awards they’re nominated for demonstrate. Just last year Nick and Joe Jonas were nominated for Kids’ Choice Awards in the Best TV Actor category, and Joe received “two nominations at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards: one of which was ‘choice male hottie.’” I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried, folks.

But upon further reflection, the hypocrisy of the Jonas Brothers’ support for Obama simply wasn’t funny anymore.

Rockers Revolt Against GOP Types Playing Their Songs

by Hollywoodland

Kid Rock says he doesn’t mind if a politician on the left or the right wants to crank up his tunes on the campaign trail.

The shaggy crooner is the exception to the rule.

FoxNews.com reports that most singers balk when a Republican wants to co-op their songs for campaign events. Things are mighty different when it’s a Democratic politician singing a familiar song.

On the other hand, Bill Clinton used Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop” in his successful 1992 presidential bid, Democratic Sen. John F. Kerry played Springsteen’s “No Surrender” in his 2004 campaign, in 2008 Sen. Barack Obama revived Springsteen’s “The Rising,” and that same year fellow Democrat John Edwards used Mellancamp’s “Our Country.” All of these came and went without objection from the artists. In fact, except for 2008, when Barack Obama was sent a “cease and desist” letter from the legal team for Sam Moore (one half of the legendary duo Sam & Dave) over the unlicensed use of “Hold On, I’m Comin’” as background beat at his rallies, its hard to find examples of Democrats getting taken to task.

The unintentionally hilarious part of the story comes when the attorney giving the legal background on the use of music says there’s nothing to see here, ideologically speaking. Just move along.

Michael Moore Stops Lying Long Enough to Call Obama Wall Street’s Man

by Hollywoodland

Director Michael Moore has an awkward relationship with reality, if you take films like “Fahrenheit 9/11″ seriously.

This week, Moore must have gulped down some truth serum before appearing on the low-rated CNN show “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

Michael Moore

Moore, citing figures gleaned from a recent Washington Post study, reminded Morgan that President Barack Obama sure loves pocketing big bucks from the very same Wall Street he often rails against.

MICHAEL MOORE, ON CNN: Well, “The Washington post” three weeks ago had this investigation and they said that President Obama has now raised more money from Wall Street and the banks for this election cycle than all — than all eight Republicans combined. I don’t want to say that, because if that’s the truth, that Wall Street already has their man and his name is Barack Obama, then we’ve got a much bigger problem.

Part Five: Bringing America Home Again – The Connoisseur

by Michael Moriarty

Norman Rockwell’s clearly privileged and very New York “Connoisseur” is staring at what I would call A Portrait of the Progressive New World Order.

Few citizens anywhere would have a living room large enough to hang this very bloody-looking billboard in. Secondly, few of us are “Connoisseurs.” Thirdly, is it really worth “The Connoisseur’s” time to try and understand this painting? A true art connoisseur instantly said the object of discernment is Rockwell’s impressive version of a Jackson Pollock. “No. 00,” perhaps.

I, for now, can only come up with “A Satellite Photo of Some Third Millennium, Urban Nightmare,” or, “The Fundamental Transformation of the United States of America.”

This painting within a painting, given the Progressive Obsessions of art critics, might eventually be worth more at a Sotheby Auction than the painting itself. “The painting within the painting?! Wrap it up and throw the rest in the wastebasket! I’m a rich man who hates Norman Rockwell but loves Jackson Pollock!!” In other words, such a destructive buyer would be some mega-rich Progressive. He’s possibly George Soros or the now exponentially enriched Jeffrey Immelt.

With both Sarah Palin and Herman Cain being, for me at any rate, the political equivalent of Norman Rockwell, I believe this visual version of the Progressive New World Order, hanging so impressively on the museum wall, looks out, beyond The Connoisseur, at the conservative writers and readers of Big Hollywood, and reminds us of how prophetic Norman Rockwell can be. ‘In Time’ Review: Sci-Fi for the Occupy Wall Street Gang

by Christian Toto

The minds behind ‘In Time’ couldn’t have known that class warfare proponents, from bedraggled Occupy Wall Street types to a President eager to alienate those sharing his tax bracket, would be all the rage when the film hit theaters.

The science fiction thriller adds a Marxist polish to a tale owing plenty to both ‘Logan’s Run’ and ‘Bonnie and Clyde.’ And while the premise teases the kind of dystopian future seen in sci-fi classics like ‘Blade Runner,”In Time’ ends up with precious little to share beyond its pretty leads.

Justin Timberlake stars as Will Salas, a blue-collar type in an alternative America where people only live to be 25. After that, you have to earn every second of your existence. Time is the coin of this realm, and a person’s wealth status is displayed in green glowing digits on their forearm. Thus, folks like Will literally live paycheck to paycheck, while the rich exist in walled-off communities where they’re guaranteed immortality.

Obama Asks Hollywood to Help Him Re-Write History of Last Three Years

by AWR Hawkins

During a speech this morning in Denver, President Obama spoke of how it’s going to take time to build an economy that gives opportunity to all people and not just those at the top. The President also discussed how difficult it is to build such an economy when Republicans refuse to play along.

In summary, he used his usual tactic of “divide and conquer” by setting “the people” against the “the rich,” which his ongoing attempt to place the blame for the Obama economy on the backs of Congressional Republicans and wealthy Americans.

Ironically, while trying to talk to “average Americans” (as if he were one of them), Obama didn’t mention the “undisclosed meeting” he’d held with some of Hollywood’s rich execs yesterday. The President didn’t mention that he’d asked those execs for “their help to engage the Hollywood community, in particular, and the general public at large.” Nor did he point out that his whole persona is so fake, so truly fraudulent, that he’s literally hoping these wealthy, influential Hollywood elites can “help [him] shape the national political conversation heading into a tough race in 2012.”

Note to President Obama: The conversation template is already set. That template is a discussion of your absolute failure as a president.

After Grilling Cain and Bachmann, Jay Leno Embarrasses Himself Sucking up to Obama

by John Nolte

The quickest way to become a jerk in this country is to defend someone in the entertainment business, which is exactly what I did when I defended the recent  interviews ‘Tonight Show’ host Jay Leno did with Rep. Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain.

In both of those interviews, Leno made the central point of his conversation the perceived gaffes and weak points in the GOP candidates’ statements and policies. What I defended was that at the very least, as Leno grilled them, his guests were given the chance to respond. And, at the time, it made sense for Leno to drill down on those issues because they were the elephants in the room.

Well, when President FailureTeleprompter arrived on the ‘Tonight Show’ set, you would think the herd of elephants that follow Obama everywhere had never existed at all.

Here’s a rundown of Leno’s talking points questions:

How awesome is your foreign policy? How great is is that you and Hillary came together for America? How about your approval rating being three times higher than Congress?  Do you find Mitch McConnell’s desire to defeat you as unpatriotic as I do? Great job quitting smoking! How do you cope with the awesome responsibility of being President? How were those chicken and waffles? How’s the family? How about that heartbreaking NBA lockout?

Nothing about the failed stimulus. Nothing about Solyndra, Fast and Furious, unemployment or record deficits.

As a longtime defender of  Jay Leno, I think he’s done real damage to his non-partisan everyman image.

At least he has with me.

‘Ben Hur’: ‘L.A. Times’ Denial of Jewish and Movie History

by Robert J. Avrech

Charlton Heston as Judah Ben Hur, the Jewish hero—notice the Star of David necklace—of Ben Hur, 1959.

The Los Angeles Times is, like the NY Times, a reliably anti-Israel newspaper whose liberal/progressive/leftist slant often veers into  support for the Jew-hatred that is the foundation of Palestinian terror.

Even their entertainment articles frequently marinate in a radical ideology that extends to an ignorant and vile denial of Jewish, not to mention literary history.

In this brief announcement of an anniversary release of a Ben Hur DVD, the Charlton Heston character, Judah Ben Hur, is referred to as a “Palestinian nobleman.”

In the book and in all the movies Judah Ben Hur is a Jewish merchant.

This charade of so-called Palestinian history is a replacement ideology, Jewish history erased by faux Palestinians, a post-modern construct with zero historical basis.

I might add that this is also a fabrication of movie history.

Jon Stewart Sours on Obama: Disappointed President ‘Deferred To the Legislative Process’

by John Nolte

***UPDATE: Once again the outstanding BH community embarrasses me with their insight. Stewart being bummed with Obama deferring to the legislative process is very revealing, and I missed it completely. Good catch. Please go on about your business of being awesome and note the updated headline.

The Left’s growing disappointment with Obama only has to do with his current approval rating. I can guarantee you that if the President did everything exactly the way he’s doing now but was at 55% approval as opposed to 39% and on his way to easy re-election, Jon Stewart and the rest would be overjoyed with the job Obama’s doing. The Left simply must blame “the job the President is doing” because they can’t face the fact that the policies Obama put into place have failed because those are the policies the Left has believed in for generations. To stare into the abyss and admit their own ideas don’t work is too much to bear. So instead, we get this:

Stewart in Rolling Stone:

“Obama ran on this idea that the system and the methodology are corrupt. It felt like the country was upset enough that he had the momentum needed to re-evaluate how business is done. Instead, when he got elected, he acted as though the system is so entrenched that it has to be managed rather than – I don’t want to say decimated, because I’m not an anarchist or a nihilist. But I’m surprised at how much he deferred to the legislative process. He’s accomplished some things, and I’m sure he’s pleased with what he’s done, but I would have preferred to see something a little bit more transformative. They haven’t made the case that government can be effective, or accountable, or agile.”

Part One: Bringing America Home Again

by Michael Moriarty

This series was inspired by the a six part, video examination of Dimitri Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony.

Before you go to sleep, however, or bump up another article, stay with me and this article’s title.

The cited video is Michael Tilson Thomas’ exceptional and exceptionally moving tribute to the soul of Dimitri Shostakovich and the hidden meanings within his Fifth Symphony that has profound relevance to the direction we are headed into with the Progressive New World Order.

—–

The Tilson Thomas complete video is an intensely condensed portrait of Stalin’s Russia. I consider the Tilson Thomas lecture/documentary a “must-see” for anyone viewing America primarily through the eyes of Hollywood and the performing arts.

The Soviet Union ravenously fed on the terror we can find breathing beneath the Shostakovich Fifth Symphony. The nightmare is only there, however, and can only be perceived if we begin to understand the musical code with which Shostakovich is constructing an obligatory deception.

Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony is a lie?

How do you appease a terrorist, the homicidal Communist Joseph Stalin, while, at the same time being true to yourself and your calling as an artist?

With that challenge in mind, why would I ever come up with the title, Bringing America Home Again?

The history of Stalin’s Russia is vitally important as a measure of how far the Progressive New World Order has dragged America and Americans away from their original faith in individual freedom and individual responsibility.

The Obama Nation’s Marxist Magicians

by Michael Moriarty

With the President’s address to a joint session of Congress on September 8, I expect a mildly new turn on an old Progressive tune: “America’s not going anywhere without Karl Marx & Friends!”

America’s increasingly far Left academia has always been “nudging” its way into power. The first great, 20th Century landmark for these “enlightened despots”, as Voltaire described them, came when a professor of the ordinarily Left-leaning Harvard University, Dr. Henry Kissinger, found his way into the Oval Office of Republican President Richard Nixon.

The not-so-good-doctor seemed to have literally crawled inside the soul of this undeniably insecure but ingeniously manipulative politician, also known as Tricky Dick. Their administration, as we know, came to a rather disgraceful end.

However, Red China’s oldest American friend, Henry Kissinger, knows that his influence from deep connections with Beijing is now as strong as it ever was.

Why?

His “kind”, his “fraternity” from Harvard and the University of Chicago are back!

Above you see a decidedly self-confident, Presidential manipulator, Barack Obama, surrounded by two of his favorite academicians, Samantha Power and Cass Sunstein.

Gene Simmons: Obama ‘Unqualified,’ Gov. Rick Perry Will Win in 2012

by AWR Hawkins

On June 15th I had a post on Big Hollywood detailing Gene Simmons’ admission not simply that he voted for Obama, but that he wanted his vote back. It was during an interview on Fox Business’ Varney & Co. that Simmons stated clearly: “[Obama] is unqualified.” (He went to refer to Obama’s foreign policy toward Israel as “lunacy” and to deride Obama’s furtherance of the nanny state mentality via government handouts.)

Now, Simmons has upped the ante by predicting “The next president will be Gov. Rick Perry.” (Mind you, Obama is running for re-election, so this is tantamount to saying Perry is going to beat Obama in 2012.)

Simmons has also intimated that he will be voting for Perry, inasmuch as he said the candidates for whom he votes always win: “I voted for Pres Bush. I voted for Pres Clinton. I voted for Pres Obama… [Gov. Perry] will be our next President. I’ve never been wrong”

(I don’t want to be too picky, but Simmons was technically wrong when he bought into Obama’s “hope and change” mantra. Still, we won’t hold that against him because he’s not only seen the light, but is actually shining the light on the world right now.)

Besides his voting record, Simmons has another political feather in cap that gives his prediction a little more gravitas – in 2010 he predicted that the Tea Party would usher in “major change” during the mid-term elections.

He was certainly right on that one.

Sony Plots Big Screen October Surprise to Boost Obama’s Reelection

by AWR Hawkins

It’s often said that “time heals.” Although it’s true that time heals a lot of things, we can’t forget that it reveals a lot of things as well. And one of the things that time has most recently revealed is that President Obama’s 2008 mantra of “yes we can” has actually turned into “we probably can’t, but I’ll never admit it.”

Obama is on a downward slide everywhere in the country, except in 10 of the most liberal states in the union (i.e., these states that would still vote for FDR or Woodrow Wilson were either miraculously resurrected and placed back on the ticket). As a matter of fact, Obama-nomics have been so disastrous to America that one of the DRUDGEREPORT’s most recent headlines was “BARACKALYPSE NOW.”

So what’s Hollywood’s response to the first two and half years of Obama? Wel,l duh, they’re helping him out by producing an October 2012 surprise that will highlight the killing of Osama bin Laden just in time to get voters excited for The One again.

In all fairness, let me say that from the moment I first learned bin Laden had been killed, I immediately thought Obama would release the pictures of the terrorist’s body during October 2012 in hopes of making us think he really is a war president worthy of re-election. Now it appears he won’t have to do that, because Hollywood is going to use a gazillion dollar movie set to provide us scenes that look even better than the real ones. At least they’ll look better to Obama: our wonderful president who, after meeting SEAL Team 6 said, “They looked less young and fearsome than he expected, and more like guys working at Home Depot.” (According to Maureen Dowd)

The movie, directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow and written by Oscar-winner Mark Boal, will likely cast Obama isn the most positive light possible and the White House is so desperate for eager to get some kind of boost in the polls that they’ve even allowed Boal into parts of the White House and Pentagon that are normally off-limits (which included allowing Boal into a “CIA ceremony celebrating the hero seals”).

I’ll Drive Him: George Lopez Says He’ll Move to Canada If Palin Wins

by AWR Hawkins

Hollywood elitists come in all shapes and sizes. Some are black, some are white, and some are colors in between. Most of the time, they aren’t very learned but they want to appear so (cases in point – Cher, George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, and Julia Roberts). They are quick to criticize Republicans – especially Bush – and blind to the fact that liberal Democrats have run every state and city they’ve controlled into the ground (cases in point – California and Detroit).

Recently, on Piers Morgan’s show, comedian George Lopez said that if Sarah Palin wins the Presidency he’s going to move to Canada (I immediately made a donation to Palin’s PAC).

Lopez said his elitist attitude views on Palin were due to the fact that he likes his “politicians to actually have a political background.” What a crock. This guy campaigned for Obama in Detroit in 2008, yet the majority of Obama’s political background consisted in community organizing under the auspices of a Weatherman terrorist named William Ayers.

But that’s all common knowledge.

Anyway, back to Lopez’s claim that he likes his “politicians to actually have a political background.” Does he not know that Palin was Governor of Alaska?

I’m being serious folks, this is embarrassing.

Jackie Mason: Obama One of Three Worst Presidents in History

by Rick Amato

Long before there was a Jon Stewart on Comedy Central cracking jokes and ridiculing Fox News viewers, there was an old-school comedian named Jackie Mason.

What makes Mason unique is not only his acerbic outspoken style of humor, but also the fact that he is not ashamed to admit he is a conservative inside a mostly liberal Hollywood.

Mason – or the “Ultimate Jew,” as he calls himself – has appeared in “Caddyshack II,” “The Simpsons,” and countless other programs.

He actually had a road show called “Politically Incorrect” which is one of his most successful road productions.

Since Mason has never been at a loss of words when it comes to politics, I decided to ask him what he thought of President Obama. The response was classic Mason: “President Obama will go down as the first-, second- or third-worst President in American history. He is a hypocrite of the worst kind and a liar and a fraud,” Mason bellowed.

Mason is among a growing number of voices declaring that Hollywood no longer will be a one-ideology town. (more…)

Tom Hanks’ Fuzzy Math: Obama Has Saved ‘About a Billion Jobs’

by AWR Hawkins

In a June 22nd CNN interview, actor and director Tom Hanks proudly announced he will be voting for Barack Obama in 2012. That’s fine, because that’s his prerogative as a voter. As a matter of fact, I’m going to go ahead and announce right now that I won’t be voting for Obama in 2012: that I wouldn’t vote for him if someone took my dog hostage and threatened to make me listen Al Gore speeches from here to eternity unless I supported Obama.

But the important part of Hanks’ interview wasn’t the announcement about voting for Obama, it was the way in which he actually presented Obama as an accomplished president: as a president who really had brought hope and change instead of harm and economic disarray.

For example, Hanks said Obama had saved “about a billion jobs” at GM and Chrysler via the passage of the stimulus package. (I’m just going to go ahead and say Hanks is too intelligent to truly believe this. He was either talking tongue-in-cheek or he is a full blown victim of Obama-mania: a feverish disease which I thought had ceased to exist once the economy tanked a year into Obama’s presidency.)

Contrary to Hanks’ claims, Obama hasn’t added jobs to our economy. Rather, he has destroyed them. Thus, Obama’s promise in early 2009 that unemployment would never rise above 8% if the stimulus package was passed turned into unemployment as high at 10% (even with the stimulus package), and which now sits at 9.1% (thanks to Obama).

As a matter of fact, the damage Obama has done to our economy is so great that no less a liberal outlet than CBS News took time in October 2010 to point out: “The National Debt has increased by more than $3 trillion since President Obama took office.” (For those of us who’ve never thought about it, $3 trillion written out looks like this: $3,000,000,000,000.)

Need more proof of the damage Obama has done?

George Washington’s Words Through the Prism of Today: Part 2

by Janine Turner

In 1796, President George Washington decided to retire from public service, thus not seeking a third term. He wrote a 32 page Farewell Address, with Alexander Hamilton’s ever present counsel. It was printed in Philadelphia’s American Daily Advertiser, on September 19, 1796. Not only is it mesmerizing, it is pertinent. To shed light on the remarkable, relevancy of his words and the timelessness of his wisdom, I am writing a five-part series on George Washington’s Farewell Address.

—–

Where is reason?

But the constitution which at any time exists, till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people is sacredly obligatory to all.

George Washington, in his Farewell Address, speaks to us about the obligation we have, as citizens, to the United States Constitution. Obligation. Americans, we the people, who live in America, we the people, who reap from her spirit, her resources, her goodness, her history of independence and equality, should be obliged to live by and honor our Constitution.

But do we? How can we, if we do not know it?

Americans love football. How would we ever expect a football player to play the game, if he did not know the rules? Similarly, how do we expect to maintain our republic if we do not know the rules, the laws, of our intended government?

Respect for its authority, compliance with its laws, acquiescence in its measures, are duties enjoined by the fundamental maxims of true liberty.

George Washington states that we should respect the Constitution’s authority, comply with its laws, acquiesce to its measures.
