NY-Based Grocery Chain Yanks Alec Baldwin TV Ads *Updated*

by John Nolte

***UPDATE: Wegmans Food market apologizes, puts ads back on the air.

Baldwin stars on one of the lowest-rated “cultural phenoms” (according to the dishonest entertainment media) on television, regularly insults a large segment of the customers (those who are not hypocritical wacko leftists), and just as regularly acts like a jerk in public.

Why would any company interested in creating goodwill want this guy as the face of their product?

AP:

Alec Baldwin’s antics aboard an American Airlines flight have gotten him grounded as a spokesman for a New York-based supermarket chain.

A spokeswoman for Wegmans Food Markets tells Rochester media outlets that the company pulled television ads featuring Baldwin after some customers complained about his behavior that resulted in his being booted from a Dec. 6 flight at Los Angeles International Airport.

Baldwin Does Damage Control – Of Sorts – On ‘SNL’ for American Airlines Incident

by Hollywoodland

Alec Baldwin rushed to the cyber-pages of The Huffington Post earlier this week to try and explain his boorish behavior on an American Airline flight.

Last night, Baldwin found another cozy spot for his damage control effort – “Saturday Night Live.”

Baldwin, a frequent and hilarious guest on the sketch comedy show, appeared as the fictional captain of the flight he was booted off of on Dec. 6. The bit, part of the show’s Weekend Update segment, found the captain singing Baldwin’s praises and apologizing for the airline’s treatment of him.

All the while, a confused Seth Meyers, the Weekend Update anchor, breaks character to tell Baldwin this approach might not be the best way to make amends for his actions.

9/11 Widow Blasts Alec Baldwin

by Hollywoodland

Guardian:

30 Rock star Alex Baldwin has been blasted by a 9/11 widow after he claimed airlines use the tragedy as an excuse to hassle passengers.

He made the claim during a defence of his actions after he was kicked off an American Airlines flight earlier this week.

His eviction followed following a hot-tempered bust-up with a flight steward who had asked him to switch of his mobile phone.

Angry Cheryl McGuinness Hutchins has branded the Thomas and the Magic Railroad actor’s words ‘inappropriate
Mrs McGuinness Hutchins is the widow of an American Airlines co-pilot who was in the cockpit of the first plane to hit the World Trade Centre.

She said: ‘I absolutely think [Baldwin's statement] was an inappropriate comment to make.

‘I believe airlines used what happened on 9/11 to increase security and protect passengers as much as possible – not to make travelling inelegant.’

And she criticised the staunch Democrat, who has frequently boasted of his intention to run for political office, for not accepting he was in the wrong after allegedly being abusive towards staff on the flight.

BREAKING: American Airlines Releases Statement: Alec Baldwin Rude to Crew, Used ‘Offensive Language’ *UPDATED*

by John Nolte

**UPDATE: “He was beating the walls of the lavatory to the point that the captain called us to see what that was about. They heard it in the cockpit,” said one crew member on the JFK-bound flight who had to deal with the “30 Rock” actor.

“He was asked five times. Everybody is the same. Everyone has to follow the rules, it doesn’t matter who you are,” the employee told The Post. “He was violent, abusive and aggressive.”

Though they originally declined to comment, American Airlines has just released a statement explaining their side of the story as to why the notoriously temperamental Alec Baldwin was thrown off a plane at LAX yesterday:

Since an extremely vocal customer has publicly identified himself as being removed from an American Airlines flight on Tuesday, Dec. 6, we have elected to provide the actual facts of the matter as well as the FAA regulations which American, and all airlines, must enforce. Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be used while the aircraft is at the gate and the door is open for boarding. When the door is closed for departure and the seat belt light is turned on, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off for taxi-out and take-off. This passenger declined to turn off his cell phone when asked to do so at the appropriate time. The passenger ultimately stood up (with the seat belt light still on for departure) and took his phone into the plane’s lavatory. He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked. They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation. The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language. Given the facts above, the passenger was removed from the flight and denied boarding.

What a jerk, and this is not at all difficult to believe, considering Baldwin’s history coupled with American Airlines original reticence to jump into this public relations firestorm. What the airline is doing here is playing defense after the left-wing actor used his Twitter account yesterday to play the victim.

In odder news, Baldwin’s Twitter account is now listed as Deactivated001.

The story might be far from over, as well. The ultimate outcome of all this could be an FAA investigation.

In many ways this story reminds me of the Anthony Weiner scandal, where a high-profile individual did something stupid and then compounded the error on Twitter, giving the story a life it wouldn’t normally have. And if the FAA gets involved, things will only get worse for Baldwin, who has a lot on the line. He’s currently the spokesman and face for Capitol One, and this kind of scandal is not the kind of thing “brands” want to be associated with.

On an unverified Twitter account, Michael J. Wolf, former COO of MTV (among other things), posted the following:

—–

The key words in that tweet would be “removed” and “had to go back to the gate.”

On his own verified Twitter account, just a few minutes later, the actor didn’t verify his removal from the plane but did lash out at a member of the 99%, an American Airlines flight attendant:

My Weekly Date with a Liberal – ‘The Mile High Club’

by Jon David Kahn

UPDATE: Error reading fixed. You should be able to read the post now.geffen gala 100309

On December 17, 1903 in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina….in the United States…Two great American brothers did the impossible: an expression that if considered at any length, truly makes no sense at all, for if they actually did it, then clearly it’s possible. In reality it’s impossible to do the impossible.

I’ll be right back.

On December 17, 1903 in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina….in the United States…Two great American brothers did the possible, albeit, the improbable.  On that glorious and mystical morning, the conditions were perfect save for the freezing headwinds gusting up to 27 mph, slapping both the brothers in their collective face like a cold black glove from the cruel dominatrix Nature herself. But they would not be deterred. They would press on…because the wheels of Innovation do not stop for a little ice on the tracks nor does Greatness reveal itself only in the most moderate of conditions. Not to mention, and let me preface this with I can’t speak for Orville and Wilbur, but some people like a good slap in the face from a cold black glove, I being one of them.

Bear with me.  (more…)
