HOLLYWOOD’S NEWEST CRYBABIES: LEPERS … AND INDIA
It doesn’t bother me when crybabies crybaby. That’s what crybabies do, especially GLAAD and CAIR — two of the biggest, fascist crybabies in the history of crybabying.
What bothers me is that the politically correct cowards that run Hollywood only listen to certain crybabies. Southerners, Christians, stay-at-home-moms, Republicans, and pro-lifers [...]

Southerners, Christians, stay-at-home-moms, Republicans, and pro-lifers continue to take hellacious beatings in all things pop culture. Everyone else is hands off at the first sound of a crybaby.

Those of us on the right can take a joke better than anyone; it’s being singled out by Hollywood cowards who pose as “edgy” that’s galling — the double standard. Take us back to the good old days of “Blazing Saddles,” and we’ll never complain again.

It’s not satire when you’re singled out. It’s bigotry.

AMAZON PONDERS NEW CHALLENGE TO NETFLIX IN STREAMING MARKET

There’s a bigger story here than just this:

Ever since Netflix first alienated its consumers last summer with a price hike – ruining a perfect record of consumer satisfaction – the market seemed to open for new challengers. That door swung a bit wider after Netflix and Starz failed to agree to terms, further limiting the service’s movie offerings.

At the moment, Amazon has deals with the likes of CBS, Fox, Disney and NBCUniversal.

Hollywood is fighting streaming harder than they would ever fight terrorists and yet you have two of the biggest entertainment retailers on the planet — Netflix and Amazon — expanding this service. It was only a matter of time before someone stepped in to challenge Netflix Streaming, and Amazon is the perfect choice.

This is the future and Hollywood had better get its act together and figure out a way to monetize the future the best they can. Because what’s going to happen is quite simple: That which isn’t streamed will be ignored.

CAMERON DIAZ’S PLASTIC SURGERY

Unless it’s a compliment, I try to stay away from commenting on people’s looks. Weight, age, and the like has nothing to do with who someone is, and it’s hard to go there without brushing up against ad hominem. Beside, I’m no prize.

But as a film fan and someone who loves movie stars, this wave of unnatural-looking plastic surgery is a real problem. Though I would never do it myself, I’m all for people having the freedom to do what they want in order to extend a career or simply feel better. There’s nothing wrong with that, but when it gets to a point where it’s a distraction, that’s when it’s worth commenting on.

And it’s not just women. Mickey Rourke, Michael Jackson, and to a much lesser extreme, Michael Douglas have all broken the on-camera spell with “work.”

The hardest hit for me was Courtney Cox in “Scream 4.” One of the most natural, girl-next-door beauties around today, and something about her is now … off. Real shame.

Plastic surgery is nothing new. A number of stars, like Rita Hayworth, were “created” by it, and who’s going to argue with those results?

What has changed, though, is how noticeable it’s become as stars have gone too far.

Hollywood is supposed to be more liberated and woman-friendly today, but more than ever these days, beautiful and successful actresses like Diaz, Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan, Melanie Griffith and the rest, have gone to extremes to avoid aging gracefully like their Golden Age counterparts did.

Hepburn, Crawford, and Davis might have had work done, but not to the point where what was done distracted. And yet, they and others enjoyed long careers well into their forties and fifties.

It’s just a fact that Hollywood is much more monstrous place for women today when compared to the studio system days run by male Republicans.

TRACY MORGAN IS BACK AT WORK, TAUNTING ALEC BALDWIN

More obsession from the clueless entertainment media over a show on one watches.

‘THE CROW’ REBOOT SNAGS NEW DIRECTOR AND WRITER

Though the sequels were unwatchable, the original starring the late Brandon Lee sure had its moments, and the production design did an especially impressive job of creating a foreboding mood and alternate universe that wasn’t completely foreign.

What really made the film work, though, is that when you boil the plot down, it’s a revenge fantasy — a vigilante story.

If they hang on to that element, it could work. But will they?

KATHERINE HEIGL STILL BEGGING FOR OLD TV JOB BACK

What a fall, and all of it self-inflicted.

—–

—–

LAST NIGHT’S SCREENING

Prime Suspect 2 (1992): The second in the series is, in my opinion, better than the first. Both feel a little dated with their openly sexist and racist characters, but in the end, this story of the search for the murderer of a teenage black girl examines race in a much more complicated way than what you’re originally led to believe.

Donchaknow, Alec Baldwin was so awesome and open and funny and beloved on Twitter… until the American Airlines thing.

There was a slightly manic quality to it. Baldwin tweeted as if he couldn’t get enough of the hits of instant pleasure you feel when you tap out a tweet that gets a big response. It must have been a lot of work, and it earned him nothing but goodwill in return. Last week, when he found himself in the news for being tossed from an American Airlines flight after an altercation with an attendant, he was hit with a slew of hostile tweets. What had started as an amusement had become something of an addiction, and was now just a pain.

The writer is Jim Windolf and the denial is epic. Not once does Windolf mention the many, many nasty and divisive tweets Baldwin sent out in an effort to insult over half the country who want Obama out of office. Not once does Windolf mention the many Twitter wars Baldwin lost to those who had the temerity to challenge Sir Alec.

But wait, “Vulture’s” revisionist suckupitude gets worse:

Baldwin departed with a sense of drama, a hoofer to the end. His last three tweets comprised links to YouTube videos of Bernard Haitink conducting the Concertgebouworkest through the fourth movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 9. There is Haitink, in tux and tails, his face bathed in sweat, swinging the baton to steer his players through the melody’s rough sea. Baldwin went out with the Twitter equivalent of a Viking funeral.

No, actually Baldwin retreated like the intellectual and sitcom-stah coward he is. Baldwin ran away to pout after discovering that outside of his Star Waggon, he’s neither worshiped nor equipped to defend his horrible political and social beliefs when challenged in an arena like Twitter where, unlike Hollywood, all men really are created equal.

And then when he was busted cold being an elitist dick to members of the airline working class, he suddenly discovered that without a publicist and sycophant entertainment media outlets like Vulture to protect him from the truth — that people really do think he’s a jerk.

Baldwin didn’t go out like a Viking, he went down like a spoiled punk and then slunk away like the cowardly bad guy he is.

Last night, Baldwin found another cozy spot for his damage control effort – “Saturday Night Live.”

Baldwin, a frequent and hilarious guest on the sketch comedy show, appeared as the fictional captain of the flight he was booted off of on Dec. 6. The bit, part of the show’s Weekend Update segment, found the captain singing Baldwin’s praises and apologizing for the airline’s treatment of him.

All the while, a confused Seth Meyers, the Weekend Update anchor, breaks character to tell Baldwin this approach might not be the best way to make amends for his actions.

30 Rock star Alex Baldwin has been blasted by a 9/11 widow after he claimed airlines use the tragedy as an excuse to hassle passengers.

He made the claim during a defence of his actions after he was kicked off an American Airlines flight earlier this week.

His eviction followed following a hot-tempered bust-up with a flight steward who had asked him to switch of his mobile phone.

Angry Cheryl McGuinness Hutchins has branded the Thomas and the Magic Railroad actor’s words ‘inappropriate
Mrs McGuinness Hutchins is the widow of an American Airlines co-pilot who was in the cockpit of the first plane to hit the World Trade Centre.

She said: ‘I absolutely think [Baldwin's statement] was an inappropriate comment to make.

‘I believe airlines used what happened on 9/11 to increase security and protect passengers as much as possible – not to make travelling inelegant.’

And she criticised the staunch Democrat, who has frequently boasted of his intention to run for political office, for not accepting he was in the wrong after allegedly being abusive towards staff on the flight.

She said: ‘He should just take responsibility for his actions and admit he should have gotten off the phone.’

She is responding to a post the actor wrote on his blog defending his bad behaviour.

Alec Baldwin’s political career is likely over before the first campaign check could be cashed thanks to this week’s imbroglio with American Airlines. Baldwin got the boot from his airline seat after failing to obey the orders given by the flight crew.

News of the incident first leaked via Twitter, and Baldwin himself used the social media site to savage the AA employees who dared to ask him to follow safety regulations. As a result, Baldwin de-activated his Twitter account, and according to The New York Post his reps aren’t sure if he’ll fire it up again.

How could New Yorkers trust Baldwin to run the Big Apple when he can’t even handle his own Twitter account?

It’s not the first time Baldwin bullied blue collar workers via Twitter:

On Sept. 7, Baldwin badmouthed a man making his coffee at Starbucks.

“Starbucks on 93 and B’way. Uptight Queen barrista [sic] named JAY has an attitude problem,” he tweeted.

New Yorkers don’t mind politicians with some fire in their belly, but Baldwin’s fire rages out of control far too often. Just imagine the attack ads his political opponents could craft.

Baldwin should look on the bright side. If the whole political thing doesn’t work out, he could always land a guest role on Charlie Sheen’s upcoming series “Anger Management.”

**UPDATE: “He was beating the walls of the lavatory to the point that the captain called us to see what that was about. They heard it in the cockpit,” said one crew member on the JFK-bound flight who had to deal with the “30 Rock” actor.

“He was asked five times. Everybody is the same. Everyone has to follow the rules, it doesn’t matter who you are,” the employee told The Post. “He was violent, abusive and aggressive.”

Though they originally declined to comment, American Airlines has just released a statement explaining their side of the story as to why the notoriously temperamental Alec Baldwin was thrown off a plane at LAX yesterday:

Since an extremely vocal customer has publicly identified himself as being removed from an American Airlines flight on Tuesday, Dec. 6, we have elected to provide the actual facts of the matter as well as the FAA regulations which American, and all airlines, must enforce. Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be used while the aircraft is at the gate and the door is open for boarding. When the door is closed for departure and the seat belt light is turned on, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off for taxi-out and take-off. This passenger declined to turn off his cell phone when asked to do so at the appropriate time. The passenger ultimately stood up (with the seat belt light still on for departure) and took his phone into the plane’s lavatory. He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked. They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation. The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language. Given the facts above, the passenger was removed from the flight and denied boarding.

What a jerk, and this is not at all difficult to believe, considering Baldwin’s history coupled with American Airlines original reticence to jump into this public relations firestorm. What the airline is doing here is playing defense after the left-wing actor used his Twitter account yesterday to play the victim.

In odder news, Baldwin’s Twitter account is now listed as Deactivated001.

The story might be far from over, as well. The ultimate outcome of all this could be an FAA investigation.

In many ways this story reminds me of the Anthony Weiner scandal, where a high-profile individual did something stupid and then compounded the error on Twitter, giving the story a life it wouldn’t normally have. And if the FAA gets involved, things will only get worse for Baldwin, who has a lot on the line. He’s currently the spokesman and face for Capitol One, and this kind of scandal is not the kind of thing “brands” want to be associated with.

If American Airlines is to be believed, this is the kind of boorish, elitist behavior that sticks to a person. Thanks to his success on “30 Rock,” Baldwin had just managed to crawl out of the hole he dug for himself after a phone message he left for his daughter was released to the public. And now the one-percenter has apparently pulled a Don’t you know who I am!? with some working class fight attendants because, horror of horrors, he was asked to follow the same rules we all follow.

Either Alec Baldwin is preparing a run for office, or he’s been taking some anger management classes behind our backs.

The liberal “30 Rock” star is known for his outrageous political positions. It’s hard to forget him ranting about how other countries would stone Congressman Henry Hyde for daring to drag President Bill Clinton through that impeachment imbroglio.

But Baldwin’s recent piece at The Huffington Post seemed to embrace some right of center principles, and now he’s talking about rallying behind one of the leading GOP presidential hopefuls, according to the New York Post:

“If [Mitt] Romney is the nominee, we have to get behind him and support that person to be president and give him constructive criticism.”

The New York Post dutifully checked in with Camp Baldwin for clarification.

Baldwin’s rep clarified that he’s not a Romney supporter but meant, “Whoever wins the election, the Congress has to get behind that person, and we need to end the obstructionist partisanship in Washington.”

It’s still shocking to hear Baldwin take such a nuanced – and conciliatory – tone regarding politics. Will it last through the 2012 presidential campaign? If it does, it might be Baldwin’s best acting performance to date.

“30 Rock” actor Alec Baldwin is feeling nostalgic for Occupy Wall Street, a movement finally being forcibly removed from several major cities this week.

But Baldwin doesn’t want OWS to go away without learning a key lesson from it. So, he took to the cyber-pages of The Huffington Post to share what OWS has taught him.

And, wouldn’t you know it, he came away with one thoroughly conservative principle at the top of his list – let the market play out sans bailouts:

One important lesson, I believe, is that bailouts of major corporations in any and all industries are counterproductive to long term economic health. And not simply direct infusions of cash as loans, tossed like gargantuan life preservers, in moments of greatest perceived dread. I’m talking about the bailouts the US government gives major corporations every day. The excessive fees forced on customers by certain banks, not to mention the predatory lending practices of the mortgage industry (coupled with the remarkably stupid borrowing of certain homeowners).

The rest of Baldwin’s arguments veer more toward the left, but it’s still surreal to hear him singing a tune heard on conservative talk stations.

Baldwin is already trying to work his way onto the radio airwaves as a possible post-sitcom career move. Who knows, maybe he’s been listening to El Rushbo in between tapings of “30 Rock?”
