What makes him a natural for this kind of project is Stone’s admiration for Fidel Castro – his documentary  about the Cuban dictator (shelved by HBO – kudos to them) attempted to “portray the human figure” – and Hugo Chavez (whom he “warmly embraced” when on some kind of fact-finding tour of Latin America).

Stone’s upcoming 10-part miniseries for Showtime, called “Secret History of America”…

…promises to focus on events that ‘at the time went under-reported, but crucially shaped America’s unique and complex history of the last 60 years.’ Subjects in ‘History’ include President Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan and the origins of the Cold War with the Soviet Union.

Of the monsters Stalin and Hitler (and McCarthy!), Stone said,

“Stalin, Hitler, Mao, McCarthy — these people have been vilified pretty thoroughly by history,” Stone told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour in Pasadena.

“Stalin has a complete other story,” Stone said. “Not to paint him as a hero, but to tell a more factual representation. He fought the German war machine more than any single person. We can’t judge people as only ‘bad’ or ‘good.’ Hitler is an easy scapegoat throughout history and its been used cheaply. He’s the product of a series of actions. It’s cause and effect … People in America don’t know the connection between WWI and WWII … I’ve been able to walk in Stalin’s shoes and Hitler’s shoes to understand their point of view. We’re going to educate our minds and liberalize them and broaden them. We want to move beyond opinions … Go into the funding of the Nazi party. How many American corporations were involved, from GM through IBM. Hitler is just a man who could have easily been assassinated.”

Um, I am familiar with the connection between WWI and WWII. Bitter because they lost, bitter because they lost a lot of land, and bitter because they were ordered to pay billions in reparations that took a heavy toll on their economy (they could not afford to pay it all), Germans were ripe for exploitation, and Hitler was the “right man” at the “right time.” Not everyone in America is as in awe of your intellect as you are, Oliver.

I suppose we should have a pity party for Hitler. His dad was abusive, he didn’t do well in school due to his innate laziness, didn’t have lots of friends and he was rejected from art school. He also wasn’t very attractive and had a problem with flatulence, poor guy. Then again, there are plenty of ugly, gassy people whose relationship with their parents wasn’t the greatest who didn’t get into the school of their choice, but not everyone makes up for past failures by coming up with the “Final Solution,” killing six million Jews and other “undesirables,” and inciting a war that involved most of the world’s nations in one way or another and ended with over 70 million dead.

Will Joe Kennedy, patriarch of the “Kennedy Dynasty,” be included in the miniseries as a man who welcomed Hitler because he was a “welcome solution” to the problem of those pesky Jews? Just curious.

We could feel sorry for Stalin too. Imagine being saddled with the birth name Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili! Geez, how do you even say that? But Hollywood stars are in the habit of changing their names too, so maybe that’s one way they can relate. Stalin’s father was a cobbler (shoemaker) and an alcoholic, his mother was a maid, he contracted smallpox and he suffered from the same kind of poverty that most Russian peasants did in the late 1800s and early 1900s. (He earned better grades than Hitler did, though. Snap! Sounds pretty depressing.

But it’s not every pockmarked Russian peasant who can claim to have not only been a part of the group who toppled a royal dynasty, but also engineered a famine in Ukraine that killed some 7 million people because they dared to seek independence from his glorious rule. Gosh, who wouldn’t revel in the government seizure of all privately-owned land and livestock in a predominantly agricultural society?

And speaking of “context,” had we not dropped the bomb on Japan, the Japanese would have kept on fighting, keeping the war going on for who knows how much longer, until “all Japanese were killed.” And now we’re allies. Who would have predicted that in 1945? The world is a strange and wondrous place.

The real “Secret History” that Stone won’t disclose involves the identity of the Americans who actually thought the Nazis had quite a lot to offer with their collectivist, anti-capitalist vision, their refusal to let things like democracy stop their agenda, and their fondness for eugenics.  Here’s a hint:  It starts with a “P” and ends with a “rogressives.”

Our favorite day is Sunday, named after our favorite radical fire-and-brimstone preacher Billy Sunday. We sing hymns like ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ and wash ourselves clean in the Lord. Really necessary for me. A conservative Republican can get real dirty during the GOP workweek. Good thing my wife’s family is rich. Her toothless redneck dad gave us a beat up ‘78 Ford pickup with NASCAR and confederate flag bumper stickers and an Easy Rider rifle rack. Pride of the Bayou!

I want war. Lots of it. Want the economy to get a boost? Works every time! Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran! Of course, in the interest of disclosure, I must confess to being a consultant for Blackwater, Halliburton, the Carlyle Group and Big Oil. And so what if we all staged 9/11? Returning once again to the land beneath the Big Hollywood sign for a most important poll question. “The Stoning of Soraya M.” has received powerful rave reviews across the political spectrum. The buzz is hot. From the leftie pundits at HuffPo (who only seem to be discovering the true human rights horrorshow nature of that regime now, most curious) to the Righties at Big Hollywood and elsewhere, SORAYA M. is a must-see movie that will linger with you long after you’ve left the theater.

Strangely enough, Amnesty lnternational’s Elise Auerbach doesn’t like it. Because stonings in Iran are so rare, don’t you know. No suspension of disbelief for Ms. Elsie. I’m sorry, what’s her job again? Oh yeah, Iran Specialist for Amnesty International. Go figure. Personally, I happen to think one stoning is one too many. And it wasn’t the only one, not by a country mile! But that’s just me. I’m not an Iran specialist for AI. Like, say, Ms. Auerbach. Nice work if you can get it, huh, Ms. Elsie?

By the way, did the acronym AI in the context of Ms. Elsie’s employer and thumbs-down review of Soraya M. remind anyone else of Artificial Intelligence? But I digress. Do their husbands want new wives too, like Soraya’s? Who needs a messy divorce when a good clean stoning works just as well? Nice law if you can get it, if you’re a philandering, misogynist God-fearing Islamist, and the fascist women-hating judges give your word as a man twice that of a woman’s in court.

See, the Academy, particularly the Nine Stooges of Team Oscar, bravely commanded by Academy Prez and Stooge-In-Chief Sid Ganis, may find it embarrassing to rave about a powerful film on a brutal stoning in Iran after producing TEA WITH AHMADINEJAD and praising the regime’s boffo womens rights record, as thugocracy stooge Annette Bening did. Very unfavorable contrast with Soraya M.

Then again, by rallying to the Forces of Good and whitewashing that abysmal affair in now-chaotic Iran, as they’ve already attempted to with their lame website promo The Road To Isfahan (seen the real Road To Isfahan lately? It ain’t no Bob and Bing movie, that’s for goddamn sure!), they can once again proudly don the mantle of human rights champs, the one they so misplaced for their last tea and finger cookies soiree to the gay-slaughtering and women-stoning Islamist butchers of Iran.

So whattaya think, people? Does “The Stoning of Soraya M.” get showered with Oscar praise, and perhaps even Oscar gold, as Academy absolution of their egregious PR sins in Tehran? Or, do the King-Of-Hearts on Wilshire Boulevard put SORAYA M. in the closet, with all the 4000-plus exterminated Iranian gays? You know, the ones they so forgot about to play the roles of Hollywood Diplomats at the Ahmie and Khamie Punking Extravaganza? Or is it just too powerful a film for even the Academy to sweep under the rug as an Inconvenient Truth?

Such naive and wishy-washy idealists have stood idly by from King George to Adolf Hitler. I personally believe in calling freedom-crushing, blood-drinking, power-grabbing dictators for what they are. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, Let Iran Be Iran.

Siding with the Iranian people, who are unimaginably oppressed and trying to shake off their Gestapo-like shackles can’t be bad. Besides, should they win this war on ruthless clerical fascism, which has nothing to do with Allah, whose side do you want them remembering YOU being on?

Playing nice never works with the Hitlers of this world. The regime is already blaming us for interfering anyway. Always have. Makes it easy to label people like students and dissenters as Imperialist and Zionist traitors and execute them. Ever read 1984? May as well commit the crime. And it’s not like they’ve been holding Death to America rallies for thirty years to show their affection.

Let’s show some of that love back. I would also add to that love of a free Iran any requests by a future Iranian People’s Resistance, if the bloodshed of innocents mounts to sickening proportions (which it most likely will), to include smuggling arms to them from Afghanistan and Iraq. Let the regime deal with the kind of Islamic-driven insurgency they’ve been fueling in both countries, not to mention Gaza and Lebanon. Sorry, people. I’m siding with the victims here in full measure, not the perpetrators.

I always side with the Resistance against Hitler. I also believe Congress, The White House and the State Department should be made aware of that sentiment as well. Oh, and if you do contact the White House, please have them correct the President in addressing Khamenei. It’s Supreme ASSWIPE. Do we support Hope and Change in Iran? Or do we play nice, so Ahmie can slaughter all the rounded-up protesters with bloodthirsty impunity, then tell us to fuck off as he finishes his shady basement nuclear project, as he’s always done to the UN, the IAEA and every other nation on earth?

During the 1930s, Neville Chamberlain pursued a policy of appeasement that brought Europe to its knees before Adolf Hitler.  Even as Hitler planned his domination of the globe, the British Broadcasting Company banned Winston Churchill, Hitler’s leading political opponent, from the radio.  Even after the beginning of World War II, the BBC censored Churchill, considering him too inflammatory in his description of the Germans.

Today, as Britain gradually kowtows to Islamofascism in the form of domestic acceptance of shariah law and radical Muslim rallies, they seek to censor Michael Savage in the same way they censored Churchill.  By placing Savage on the same list as representatives of Islamic terrorists and Neo-Nazis, the Brown government has attempted to draw moral equivalence between those groups that speak out against Chamberlain-esque appeasement of Islamofascism, and the appeasers and Islamofascists themselves.  This moral equivalence is utterly false, and worse, it is dangerous not only to free speech values but to the continued freedom of the West against those who would seek to enslave it.  Brown will be listed in the history books alongside Chamberlain as an appeaser of tyranny and Savage will be listed alongside Churchill as an advocate of liberty.

Today’s Gordon Brown-led British government is as appeasement-oriented as its 1930s predecessor:

· According to the Telegraph, just last week the leader of the radical Islamofascist group Hizb ut-Tahrir held a rally in London in which he called on his followers to support “jihad” against Israel.  Four years ago, Tony Blair promised to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir from Britain.

· According to the Telegraph, last month the British government, led by Brown, was forced under pressure to deny entry to Ibrahim Moussawi.  Until Conservative opposition arose, the Brown government had been prepared to admit Moussawi to speak at the University of London.  Moussawai describes suicide bombers as “martyrs” and calls Jews “a lesion on the forehead of history.”

· According to the The Sunday Times (September 14, 2008), “Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.  The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.”

“Considering the historical position of past liberal British administrations, radio personality Michael Savage finds himself in the best of historical company with Winston Churchill, based on the position that the Gordon Brown government has taken towards Savage today,” said a spokesman for Talk Radio Network.  “Winston Churchill claimed that in the years leading up to World War II, he was banned from the BBC for a period of up to eight years.  He was put into political exile where he was labeled ‘an extremist’ at a time his voice and free speech was needed most.  This attempt at marginalizing Savage and Savage’s free speech is no less egregious than what Churchill experienced in the hands of Chamberlain’s government.  It simply validates how history does repeat itself when history’s lessons are not learned by leaders of the modern age.
