So when Clinton failed by spliting the baby with "Don't ask, Don't tell". King Obama is going to repeal it and allow gays in the military. Thus alienating many center left, center right and moderates, it might have cemented his cred with the gay and lesbain voting block, but no way it will cover the votes that he lost.

Nine months in and he's STILL campaigning!

When I first saw the original Father of the Bride I was blown away by how drop-dead gorgeous Liz was in her younger days. I think she was about 18 in that movie and a real stunner – and that was back in the days before every Hollywood starlet had plastic surgery. Liz's personal life has been a mess, but she is truly one of the great beauties of the ages.

You are both making the assumption that Obama is actually going to "do" this rather than just "say" he's going to do this. I wouldn't hold my breath on anything substantial relating to the gay community ever happening.

As far as I can tell, the gay community is WAY down on the list of people to payback for voting for him. With only the soccer moms coming in after…

He'll spin this out for years. Make it seem like he's accomplished something or is about to around re-election time and then IF–G_d forbid– he gets reelected, he'll do nothing.

Anyone else ever get a flash in their mind of the Penguins from Madagascar everytime Barak speaks? "Smile and wave boys!".. I swear to you I fully expect that if his aproval ratings drop too low for his liking that we'll see Barak, Michelle, Hilary and Joe in the Rose Garden waving across the street while speaking among themselves trying to form some plan on deflect blame onto Bush or those Evil Republicans.

The great huckster speaks in Wisconsin of global warming as a baseball game is snowed out in Colorado. The BBC reports that the globe has not warmed at all in the past decade and yet the chicken littles amonst us continue to keep the ball rolling toward the guvment controlling more and more of our lives in the name of saving us from ourselves. It all makes sense to someone I suppose. Why can we not be left alone?

The oh-so-pedantic Al Gore was in an interview a few years back. He and the host were (naturally) simpatico, and all was going well. All at once, it occurred to Al, "Hey, this guy doesn't know what I'm talking about, at least the part where I want to redistribute America's wealth all around the globe."

I rented A Place In The Sun a few years back and Taylor looked incredible in it. No doubt she always been a stunner, but she's also one of the biggest pea brains in Hollywood. I recall a few years back someone pointing out that if you study her life, she liked to surround herself with weak or homosexual men. From Montgomery Clift to Rock Hudson, from Eddie Fisher to Richard Burton. From the guy she met and married at a rehab clinic to Michael Jackson. One has to ask what kind of person would constantly be attracted to these types of individuals? She looked great physically but she is a mess when it comes to her psyche.

Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most beautiful and talented young actresses ever to grace the screen. And I do use the word 'grace' in the most meaningful way. In light of this Roman Polanski thing (no I hadn't heard of it before. I'm not a huge fan of movies made after 1960) I now wonder what she had to do in order to get roles. The Hollywood casting couch was never a myth. No wonder she got so messed up. Forget 'cowboys,' momma don't let your babies grow up to be actors.

Thank you Gingersnapper for that link. You are right that it did not make me happy on this beautiful Sunday, but to tell you the truth, my comment about being left alone was rhetorical, as unfortunately there are many who simply know better how we should live and are determined to place the yoke upon our necks. What is distressing more than anything is the large number of people who have lined up to have the yoke placed upon them without one iota of protest. We have come a long way since the founding fathers pledged their lives, fortune and sacred honor for freedom. I hit the link for the Heartland Institute quite often, a voice of reason in the sea of madness. By the way, Spokane is a beautiful city, populated by a large amount of crazies, but what city is not?

sort of like using .9 gallon of fossil fuel to make 1 gallon of bio-fuel, and this does not take into account the pollution caused by the heavy fertilization of corn fields and the shortage of other crops due to too much planting of corn. A good example of the distortion of the free market by the government.

The question I keep asking is how will the Nobel Committee be able to justify awarding the Peace Prizes to someone OTHER than Barak Obama in the years to come? I mean he won the thing simply because he is who he is. He will continue to be who he is every year from here on plus the added advantage of an increasingly impressive backlog of gaseously uplifting rhetoric. The Nobel Committee have painted themselves into a corner where their only choice from now on will be to mail Our Leader the medal and the check every year at awards time.

Elizabeth Taylor is one of the most beautiful women who ever lived. As an actress…well…She is like the little girl with the curl. When she is good she is very good and when she is bad she really stinks. Simply great in "A Place in the Sun", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolff." But for every film like that she has made a "Boom", a "Sandpiper or a "The Only Game in Town."

But haven't even a lot of high-ranking military officials agreed that it's time to retire don't ask? Don't many servicemen acknowledge that they know full well that some of their fellow warriors favor the love that dares not speak its name and it doesn't affect unit cohesion? Haven't we booted out people we kinda really need, like translators, etc. for being gay? If someone wants to join to serve their country, let 'em in.

True fact here (those are the best kind):

I worked for the Air Force for 32 years as an aviation meteorologist (1974-2006). When I went through met school back in the early seventies, climate scientists were predicting a coming ice age, based primarily on the past 25 years worth of data which trended downward pretty consistently in terms of global temperature averages. By the late nineties, they were predicting global warming based upon – again – temperature data over the past 25 years. That's about the time things started cooling down again.

Anybody else see a pattern here? That's right, boys and girls, the earth's climate, it seems, follows a rough sine wave pattern around a 25-year cycle of … drum roll … SOLAR activity.

Which means, we'll start globally warming again one of these days. And James Hansen needs more funding for his research.

Something else worthy of note. Globally, the single biggest producer of atmospheric CO2 is the Pacific Ocean.

1redcent disagrees with me on the effectiveness of this strategy. This is incredibly dangerous since our soldiers defend us in more ways than just from invasions. I know that hasn’t been legal since Pinochet whose assassination possibly bought Central and South American 30 years of freedom from the most intense Communist invasion. Nevertheless, that law could be changed if necessary in the future, but never will be with an armed forces riddled with the bath ouse/butt-f**k brigade whose alliances with our enemies exist to destroy us.

Since gays enjoy comparing themselves to blacks in terms of the civil rights struggle, they can do what blacks did. Serve with honor and courage in segregated units, prove their worth to the military, then become fully integrated into the services over time.

I think a gay regiment headquartered at The Presidio would be awesome. They could have a distinctive unit emblem (maybe the Pink Beret, but that's a little obvious), and barracks life, instead of being a reasonable argument for exclusion from service, would suddenly become a recruiting tool. The precision drill team would be amazing. Their mess hall would get Zagat's four stars.

I'd never want to meet their Command Sergeant Major, but other than that, what's the down side?

These are inconvienent facts and therefore will be ignored. I read that as the fertilizer washes into the Mississippi and eventually out into the gulf, it causes tremendous algae blooms, which kills fish and shrimp, thus requiring shrimpers and fishermen to have to venture further away from shore, thus burning more fuel.
It seems that the greenies just dig themselves into holes no matter what they propose. The folly of man.

The extras on my DVD of "Giant" contain a short clip from a grainy 8mm movie someone shot on set. There are maybe two seconds of Taylor clowning around in the desert. But even there she looks so beautiful it hurts.

It drive me crazy how these 'scientists' cherry pick data to fit the desired outcome.

When these clowns pull out an ice core in the arctic and want to measure the 'rings' to infer the temperature hundreds and thousands of years ago they pull out a Craftsman tape measure and eyeball the measurements while they are freezing their butts off. I'm sure that is real accurate way to take measurments.

No offense to the Craftsman tape measure…

Wasn't she molested by studio heads around the age of 13 or 14? I don't have the details but that is bouncing around in the back of my head from a couple decades ago. That could explain the types of men she accepted when she got old enough to decide for herself.

In other words, powerful men might have represented unwanted experiences from her youth.

Harry Reid's days may be over. He's sucking windmill fuel in Nevada. Boxer and Pelosi have seats for life in California. Same as McDermott here in Seattle, Frank in Mass, Kerry in Mass. They could burn down a children's hospital, be holding the match when the cops arrive and still get re-elected in their states.

But we need to get rid of squishy Republicans who support such junk science as global warming and want to reach across the aisle and join hands with those who want to use it as a way to tax more, like that germ Kerry.

Not only are her views, and lack of knowledge an embarassment; she is dangerous and destructive to all who believe in a free market. This woman has never met a payroll in the private sector. She only knows how to confiscate and redistribute wealth she had NO part in creating.

I wouldn't trade places with Elizabeth Taylor, BUT…I appreciate many of the movies that she made, National Velvet being one of the best. She's one of the few performers who was able to have a career, beyond that of a child star, as a grown up in a cut throat industry. As this picture shows, her beauty was breathtaking.
