Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

Rock Hudson is one of my all time fave people. He always seemed so witty and charming. I knew when I was 10 yrs old that he was gay (that's more than 50 yrs. ago)
The man could act and he seemed to have fun doing that. I think the romantic comedies with Doris Day are still my faves although I loved Mac and wife on TV too.
Rock Hudson was a good comedic actor who used to star with Doris Day. Probably one of the first big name actors to be "outed."
Yanks up 2-0; BoSox down 0-2.
Life is good.
"It's better to be judged by twelve than carried by six." Good motto!
Rock Hudson – good player, very diverse.
My 2 fave Rock Hudson films are at extreme ends of each other-
HAS ANY BODY SEEN MY GAL? – Snappy comedy with music from the 50s, set in the roaring 20s.
SECONDS – Absolutely harrowing John Frankenheimer film from the 60s with a tour de force performance by Hudson with a gut wrenching climax that will give you nightmares. "Cranial drill".
Football all weekend.
Life is great.
I'd like to thank the Academy for the Oscar for short, short documentary. I don't deserve it.
President Awesome Wins the Nobel Fleece Prize

Gay? Who cares? He was Rock Freakin' Hudson!
Cards down 0-2. Life is troubling. It takes three to win the series. Go Cards, you can do it.
Oh. . .just found out from a friend of mine of Facebook: CHUCK is coming back to NBC sooner than planned, maybe later this month!
http://scifiwire.com/2009/10/good-news-for-chuck-...
I found a funny video making the rounds on the internet. Conservatives are more fun:
http://motorcitytimes.com/mct/video-conservatives...
Up in the hills we had what we would call The Noballs Peach Prize, that you would get fo being a chicken and not shootin at yo neighbor. Does this be what Obama done won. It sure do be fittin. It was more easier to come by then a chicken for the fox who got in the hen house.
Hey…he was no gayer than Randolph Scott…
He was a charming and likeable onscreen presence, and kept his private life to himself.
That's a great epitaph for any movie star.
Not thrilled. I'd been watching the show, but they jumped the shark with the season-ender. "Chuck" as a killer ninja? Sorry, but no…
They need to deprogram that as soon as possible.
Thanks for the news. Since Chuck is the only NBC program I allow my television to broadcast, I wouldn't have seen any commercials. Time to fire up the DVR!
Nice production value. LOL.
Love Rock Hudson! I don't care if he was gay – he was darn sexy, and charming too!
Looking at that picture of Rock Hudson makes me long for those back in the day great movies of the early "60's". You have got to check out, "Send Me No Flowers" 1964 with Rock, Doris Day, Tony Randall and Paul Lynde. Roll on the ground funny. I believe I saw it first on "Saturday Night At the Movies"…remember that? When makin that move, they didn't have to dumb down. They assumed adults would "get it". They don't make them like that anymore.
Thanks bighollywood. Keep the great pix coming. It gives me strength and a great walk down memory lane
Wow – Who would have thunk it! Only nine months on the job and already a Nobel Peace Prize winner! It just shows what you can accomplish if you apologize, grovel and whimper enough about your own nation's "defects" before the world's self-appointed transnational elites. My queston is how can the Nobel Committee can avoid giving him the Peace Prize every year from now on? I mean after al, his very presence is a "beacon of hope to all the world's peoples of the promise of a new dawning of a new era of a new age of peace…..blah…blah…blah…" I think that we can all be confident as well that this little trinket is going to help sway the Prez's decision making on Afghanistan. McCrystal can forget about obtaining reinforcements. I hope we leave the country tidy so that the Taliban doesn't have to repaint or buy new curtains when they retake possession.
'Seconds' does rock; Frankenheimer at th epeak of his game. We'll go with Howard Hughes and throw 'Ice Station Zebra' out there as a terrific film and solid performance.
McMillan and Wife had moments as well…

No doubt about it – "GIANT" is Rock's finest film.
OMG and they're not even walking on the grass. Fun and polite! ^__^

Only the dumb voters of New Jersey could forget how Governor Jon Corzine has made their state a crap hole and go ahead and vote for more of it.
Rock Hudson was more masculine than today's hetero actors. And he was a conservative and a good friend of Reagan. Good guy.
"Made" their state a crap hole? What was it before Corzine took office?
OK, OK…BHO/Nobel-bashing should conclude now.
The Nobel Committee has succeeded temporarily in getting us to take our eye off the ball.
Time to forget this Nobel farce and get back to what really matters: Stopping our Congressunits from destroying our economy and forcing us into socialized medicine, giving Afghanistan back to the Taliban, burdening our children with "Cap and Trade," and letting ACORN and the other Mafia families take over our country.
Back to work, people!
OMG! I just figured it out! The Nobel Peace Prize is the ultimate outcome of Liberal Guilt!
Nobel created TNT. He felt guilty about killing so many people with his invention. So when he died, he endowed a award to abate his guilt.
And now, the Nobel committee has given it out for the basis of the ultimate case of liberal guilt.
If you have the time, this is a great article by Pia Varma comparing Michael Moore's movie to Michael Covel's documentary on Capitalism.

Liberals by definition are unhappy people. Everywhere they look they see inequality, oppression and injustice.
Great news! Chuck is my favorite show on TV right now and one of the stars is Big Hollywood contributer Adam Baldwin. I was wondering if that would happen because of the cancelation of Southland, since they were both slated for Friday slots after the Great Leno Contraction. Let's just hope Chuck can pull good ratings on a Friday.
I got the impression that they were writing it under the assumption that it could be a series finale. I also think they needed the option to take the show in a different direction, since the constant "resets" (where character relationships and situations seem to go back to square one after developments get undone) were going to get old and the characters needed to develop. So I think it's a good move to make Chuck more than a male damsel in distress. That said, they could still play it up for comedy and keep Chuck a bit of a weak link if the programming (A) isn't perfect and (B) isn't always under his control.
Sometimes I hate NPR.
Rock Hudson (like James Garner), was the epitome of "tall, dark, handsome and humorous" in the 50s and 60s. I loved his movies with Doris Day, as well as his more serious role in SECONDS. And personally, I preferred his performance in GIANT to James Dean's (but I've always felt that Dean was overrated anyway).
Ditto that Marco…and in walk off fashion, nice. Great off season paying off. # what? 27, 28 in 09?
Sounds good. There lining up in Nevada to kick that old sh!thead coot Reid out of office! Thank Goodness and good riddance!
"Giant" was filmed east of El Paso in Marfa. The cast stayed in El Paso and my father was a young pilot station at Biggs Field during that time. He recounts walking into his favorite bar in Juarez, which was then a nice safe little city and running into ALL of the stars of "Giant" drinking at the bar. He told me Elizabeth Taylor's eyes were purplish and vaguely remembers the rest of the cast, Dean and Rock et al standing around. Wow!
If anyone from NBC is reading this, put Chuck in the 8PM slot on Friday. DO NOT put Chuck into the 9PM slot that was slated for Southland so that it's up against Dollhouse and Stargate Universe. While there are plenty of science fiction geeks home on Friday nights, history has shown that there aren't enough to support shows that are put up against other science fiction shows. Chuck appeals to the science fiction fan/ComicCon audience, which is the same audience that Dollhouse and Stargate Universe appeal to. Chuck will be more likely to succeed at 8PM than at 9PM on Fridays.
I wonder who PAID the ~third party candidate~ that *popped* up all of a sudden to get in the race? Hmmm? Maybe the BILLIONAIRE Democrat incumbent? Hmmm?
I hadn't thought of that but that true, good points!
James it would be WS #27, but they haven't won anything yet. One game at a time, I've been watching baseball for too long to get overconfident. It's not called a funny game for nothing.
"You'd do it for Randolph Scott." (heads bowed in reverence) Randolph Scott!!!! ahhhhhh!!
Who knows he may be the first repeat, or multi-repeat winner. Nothing from the NPP would surprise me anymore, that is after yesterdays announcement.
Mike I was looking on this thread for a fan of that movie. It is one of my favorites as well, even though it's a long movie, it entertains, me anyway, throughout. I think this is the last of the three films James Dean made.
Thanks a lot Tom, unfortunatly you have a point.
I agree, Rock was great in "GIANT" and although I like James Dean, I think he is a little overrated as well
What the heck is that from? It made me laugh, even though I don't have a frame of reference for it…
We'll see. I'll continue watching as long as Yvonne Strahovski shows up. I like Adam Baldwin also, although for totally different reasons…
As sweet as that would be, I'm kind of wondering how much of a shot she has.
Hey, I'm originally from California. I feel your pain…
Doris and Rock. yessirree.

He was not 'in your face' with his choice.
It was a running joke in the movie "Blazing Saddles." When they mentioned his name the men took off their hats, & everyone bowed their heads and repeated his name in reverence.

True we do need to keep on the mark about the important issues, but we need stress relief once in awhile.
Maybe we should make Fridays the unofficial, ridicule little o, day each week.
Last Friday we had the ' The Ego has landed', this week 'The Ego expanded', can't wait to see what next week brings.
(he just might come to hate TGIF)
Yeah mom's side of the family is all from NJ, everyone now either died, or moved to FL. I lived there myself for over 20 years, after moving w/family while dad was in the Navy. Despite all of it's faults I loved living in NJ some great people and friends there. I moved out to WA almost a year ago to help the folks out as they're getting older. Besides size, there are many similarities between NJ & CA. One thing I learned in all my travels is that everyone complains about the state, and government. So, no place is perfect, and one has to make the best of the situation regardless, of where they may live.
Tom I take from your post that you no longer live in CA, I hope you're happy where ever you may be.
Cheers!!
Giant is probably my favorite Hudson movie, but Pillow Talk is a close second.
Dean is overrated. Can't stand that mumbling method acting.
ya, I know but some teams have that extra something. ARod actually hitting in the cluthch (WHA??T?) and the walk off that bounces off the top of the wall…here's to HOPING the breaks continue to wear pinstripes.
i'm a multi-tasker..bashing hussein is the fun part…I wrote an e-mail to Olympia Snowe's office for her to ignore yesterday, how has everyone else pitched into stop the Socialist-in-Chief the last few days?
I usually hate NPR.
Although it would be great if the Angels won it all, I'll settle for them beating the Red Sox.
Go Angels!
The deadline for nominations was Feb 1. Obama had been in office for less than two weeks.
Mark Evanier Twittered thusly: "Barack Obama just won the Nobel Prize for his greatest contribution to world peace: Not being George W. Bush." I'm not so sure Evanier is wrong.
All those who are surprised by this news, raise your hands.
Yeah, thought so.
Agree 100% things are breaking the right way for the bombers, and I hope they continue as well. With A-Rod finally hitting, and that was some exciting HR, both of them last night; this will present problems for any pitching staff.
I have been reading the posts on FOX sports about the blown call in left field last night. Some are interesting, some hilarous, many anti-Yankee, oh well.
that was an *interesting* take on that play-what was that guy looking at. It made a g.r. double a single and I don't know how Mauer runs, better than the average catcher I'm guessing. The "breaks" tend to even out.

Be true to your team. I once got in my car and drove to old Yankee Staduim just to see a home game (been to Arlington, Tx. to see the Bombers, not the same!) I then risked my life by staying in Newark, N.J., home of the stray .44 round, then across the G.Washington bridge to Yankee Stadium, delightful! What a historic old ballpark. it just oozes history and personality. Fantastic place for a ballgame.
I miss the old place. Made my last visit on July 4 last year (we lost to Boston). I've been out of town a long time, but I always made it back for at least one Yankee game.
Haven't been to the new park yet — I'm hoping one of my buddies from back home can get tix for a playoff game.
Hey…for any of you Nevada…ites? Nevadans?
Is there any buzz on former Miss New Jersey running for your senate seat as a moose-killing hot Republican babe? I'm assuming she would be contesting Reid's seat, not Ensign's?
What are the Vegas odds?
By the way, this choice nugget is from Mrs. Lowden's own biography page:
"She also holds an Honorary AA Degree from the Community College of Southern Nevada."
I'd vote for her for that reason alone.
I'm a little uncomfortable with the phrase "in your face" in this context.
The Dear Leader said he's going to donate his Nobel Prize money to a charity — maybe he means ACORN.
it should have been a grounds rule double, but was called a foul. Mauer singled later in the at bat. However…the Twins loaded the bases with no outs and came away with zilch. It can't be said enough, timely hitting is a key to winning. I've been watching Dodgers/Cards, & the poor Cards can't seem to hit even if they brought a guitar to the plate instead of a bat. These best of 5 series can be brutaly short if your teams goes into a hitting slump.
Global Warming Alert!
Phillies at Rockies snowed out.
"He told me Elizabeth Taylor's eyes were purplish and vaguely remembers the rest of the cast…"
On behalf of heterosexual men everywhere, we totally understand.
Elizabeth's eyes are violet. Never seen any like them. I was so stuck by her beauty in Philadelphia about 25 years ago (and she was chubby and a little drunk), I was frozen in my tracks. Walked right by me, smiling all the while. I may have drooled a little bit…
I wonder what I would have done if Rock walked by?
That video rocked……………………….maybe a couple more "dancing Obamas", and some columns somewhere would make a nice touch too………………………..Oh ya, more fairy-dust !!!!
Nice Job, and well done.
Q-(Jersey)What was it before Corzine took office?

I think this is awfully funny: CITIZEN KANE 3000

Pillow Talk is awesome. Wonderful film.
A favorite Rock Hudson film of mine is Farewell to Arms. Certainly, Gary Cooper's earlier version is a classic, but Rock's is pure movie magic as well. That ending, man. Can't get through it dry eyed. Never have.
Me either, I love to see the new park. I hope it holds the same magic. I'm a shameless Texan so I can't wait to see the new Cowboys Stadium, on t.v. it's incredible, over the top nice. Now if we can get a N.F.L. level team to occupy it that will really be something!

It gives me another reason get back to N.Y.C. one of favorite places on earth (to visit).
As a kid I remember seeing him in Ice Station Zebra and thought he and that movie were awesome.
When my dad told me he was homosexual, he might as well have told me that Santa Claus murdered the Easter Bunny.
Nevertheless, he was a great actor.
