Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

when the CBO comes back with a huge pricetag can we just cancel any vote on the health care bill?
after all Obama said he would not sign anything that added a dime to the deficit so why vote on something
that won't be signed?
Who is the woman ?
Julie Andrews!!!
Random Thoughts
Upon learning that the Constitution requires a president to be a natural born citizen, a college student said: "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified than one born by C-section?"

Ahhh…semantics, always good for a laugh.
Julie Andrews: Charm Personified.
I would love to be babysitted by her.
You? Do? Not? Know?!
Julie Andrews.
She is a spoonful of sugar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9Pbd3RSbLo
The Simpsons parody was funny too. ("Do a half-assed job" the theme of D.C.)
Letterman should be fired now.
such a young and lovely Julie Andrew
Its time to legalize it
If you put up Julie (who I LOVE) – you HAVE to put up her good friend Carol Burnett. Those two did some of the funniest skits together.
“Victor Victoria” . . . Is that what it takes to be successful, for a woman to dress like a man to perform as a woman? Don’t get me wrong. The film is outstanding and I’m a great fan of Julie Andrews. As for Robert Preston, saying his name is enough to bring a smile. But a film where a person has to disguise herself just to gain success for a talent she already has ….
Okay, you could say, she’s being creative. Yes. Different. Yes. But she’s still hiding out. But it was a movie. In real life, politically, in Hollywood, in American at large, people were afraid to come out, afraid of speaking up, afraid of what other might think and say, and afraid of what might happen to them at work. It is only now people are starting to come out as the nation peers into the abyss.
The tea parties and town halls happenings are great, and it’s about time and well overdue. But unlike Victoria, who was greeted with tumultuous applause after her exposing herself as a woman on stage, well, politics is different, and it’s going to be a rough ride for sometime.
Absolutely adored Julie Andrews growing up and wanted to be a singer because of her. I ended up a dancer so that 's close enough. That she was also a fine actress was a lovely bonus and she demonstrated she could hang with the pros during "Step-inTime" and "Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious". Sigh…there aren't many like her around nowadays.
darlin'…have you had your coffee this mornin'?
My first thought when I see Ms. Andrews isnt Victor Victoria, its all the shows she did before…and some of the ones she did after, like her role as Queen (who better than Julie Andrews!!!) in the Princess Diaries movies. Too bad Ms. Andrew's class didnt rub off on li'l miss Hathaway…
But really…what's youre point? And breathed in a paper bag before replying. Drink some camomile tea instead of coffee…with a spoonful of sugar no less *wink*
President Awesome in All His Awesomeness Heartthrob Edition
mmm Barack Hussein Obama mmm just loves PDA and we love him for it. My videos have shown so many dimensions to the man we call Barack, formerly known as Barry. Yet, he remains somewhat of an (Manchurian) enigma.
Yeah, he also said there would not be any lobbyists in his "most transparent administration" in history.
What strikes me upon looking at the actors and actresses whose pictures are posted in the "Open Thread" sections is their versatility. Comedy, drama, singing, dancing, that generation of performers could do it all; individually. Is there anyone in Hollywood, aside from Tom Hanks, who has that kind of range today?
I love "The Sound of Music" but I must say that "SOB" was a great flick. Being married to Blake Edwards must be a trip.
mmm… I love Dame Julie Andrews… She is still very beautiful to this day…
Hugh Jackman comes to mind. He's done a musical and a drama on Broadway, as well as movies that run the gamut from comedy to drama to sci-fi/fantasy.
There may be a few others…
Ahh Julie Andrews…a four octave vocal range and an awesome rack, the woman's got it all.
What more could you ask for?
Of course not, this has nothing to do with health care, insurance, or anything else Washington is blabbing about.
This is about grabbing 1/6 of the American economy, and all the power that comes with handing it back out.
I think I remember hearing once, when it came to the Sound of Music, the studios weren't thrilled with her, they wanted a more bankable star. Lucille Ball.
Sounds like who ever decided to take a chance, nailed it.
Here's Julie and Carol:

Tom Hanks is a song-and-dance man? Sounds like I missed a treat…
"Are you here to see my boobies?"
– S.O.B.
As he was writing "Skin Deep," do you suppose Blake Edwards bounced the idea of that glowing condoms scene off The Little Woman? Mary Poppins and Maria Von Trapp don't strike me as having that kind of humor…
Btw: this Nov. 12 = The Edwards' 40th Anniversary. Congrats!
We'll probably just find out the CBO is racist.
Julie Andrews is one of my personal favorites! She personifies class, charm, and is so regal. Mary Poppins is my favorite film of hers–and one of my favorite movies of all-time–with Sound of Music coming in at second.
And that doctor who screwed up her vocal cords in the 90s? Yeah, one of the few times I thought a malpractice lawsuit was completely warranted…
Bawney Fwank , a slug dressed up as a human has had a fair amount of success deceiving the subjects of the Peopls's soviet of Taxachussetts!
Yeah- this President and this administration are all about lying to as many people as they can fool and taking as much power for themselves "by any means necessary".
Not sure that he has ever sung. But he has danced. The FAO Schwartz scene in "Big"
Hey Kathlene Sabelius You can take my share of the Flu vaccine and shove it up your ….. where the sun don't shine.
I almost hope I get sick Ill take 2weeks off work and won't pay a dime of tax.
It's not just Julie Andrews. . .it's DAME Julie Andrews! I've had a crush on her since I saw MARY POPPINS in the theater when I was three.
Good article celebrating the 50th anniversity of the Twilight Zone at National Review Online:

Julie Andrews is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Pretty too
Huh, so it's Dame… I was thinking it was Damn!, Julie Andrews
the sarcasm was intended …
You must have missed Bachelor Party.
What about the late Patrick Swayze for this category? Though he did have weak points in some of those categories he was rather well rounded.
Standard.Operational.Bullshit…what an awesome title and the boobies weren't bad either…

Her quote when she learned that Walt Disney wanted her to play Mary Poppins:
"Work with Walt Disney? The cartoon person?"
Pre Maria. Pre Mary Poppins. Absolutely gorgeous!
Can I ask what's up with all the anti-Autism Speaks headlines? I realize that all kinds of headlines and articles are highlighted here, but I've noticed that the ones about that organization seem to be consistently anti. To the best of my (admittedly limited) understanding, the people who are against that organization don't like the idea of anyone getting "cured" of autism (in the same way many deaf people don't like the idea of improving their hearing). Is the anti-cure mentality really such a good thing? Doesn't seem like it to me.
I continue to read here and elsewhere how many people are expressing their displeasure with Hollywood by avoiding movies and celebrities with values that are offensive to them. Check out this article for validation that it's working: http://bit.ly/1pNn3z. The article says that Hollywood is looking to cut costs, but stars' salaries won't be cut because that's what draws the viewers in. I say we keep up the good work and really make them start to feel the pinch.
mmm… I love Dame Julie Andrews… She is still very beautiful to this day… I even have one of the young adults novels she wrote back about 15 years or so ago…
I was just reading on Wikipedia that She initially turned down the part of Mary Poppins because she was pregnant but Disney told her they would wait for her…
Apologies. I'm a creature from the left, so some times I wonder just how much those from the right understand about the mind set of the people on the left they are dealing with.
Remember, those on the left, can be pretty deranged. If they watched Dr. Thomas Sowell debating Jon Stewart, they'd insist Stewart won because he did that smirk with his finger on his chin. They are that bad.
Good cooking?
/snark
Steve Martin… writer. comedian. banjoist. decent actor too.
it's a shame he's on the liberal side of the fence.
Blake Edwards! You lucky dog!
And now for something completely different: My spousette told me that Maher said that on his show, commenting on a picture of the Republican convention showing black people on the platform with the candidates that, "the last time the Republicans had that many black people on a platform, they were selling them."
Maher, "You Lie!"
It's a crying shame that our history-ignorant populace doesn't seem to have a clue that the Republicans were the radical party where abolitionists found a home when the Democrat party was pro-slavery. Until our population begins to know its history better, we will remain in deep kimshi.
Just an idea for Andrew Breitbart to consider: I love Big Government and Big Hollywood along with AndrewBrietbart.com. How about considering a history lesson blog that investigates the major historical misconceptions held by our woefully ignorant population that cause them to drift to the left instead of exploring the joys of the world right of center?
Perhaps something along the lines of Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" segments (God I cringed whenever he spoke to those horribly deficient people) but featuring sentient people who stayed awake during their history classes? There are so many wonderful historians out there who might be happy to join: David McCollough and Doris Kearns Goodwin are two who come immediately to mind.
"Close your mouth, Michael. We are not codfish."
And….
"I'm sorry, sir, but I don't remember YOUR whistle."
And…she's still got it in "The Princess Diaries."
*Love*, *love*, *love* Dr. Sowell. I wish more people in government would listen to his wisdom.
I agree with Waldo. What about something like "Big History"? Where real scholars who aren't "freaky deaky", and students of real history can correct the factual inaccuarcies and outright lies that have been perpetuated on our cultural heritage for the last fifty years. Just a thought.
Lovely woman. Extremely talented and classy. Loved her role in S.O.B. remember that movie anyone.
Very PERT mammalian protrubrances.
It wouldn't have to be dry. It could be based around news and current events (like the Maher quote previously noted). Every time some lefty or Lame Stream Media hack opened their mouths and spilled more lies about our history, a featured writer could be on with an article about why he/she/it was full of beans.
Anyone else get a 404 when trying to register?Tried IE and Firefox.Java and Cookies enabled.
Thanks.
no apology neccessary …
Legalize Julie Andrews now!
In the words of the medical advertising regulators, "Please direct our eyes to the evidence of your statement 'awesome rack.'"
Loved her in SOB.
Flat out funny movie.
