Father Know Best! Obviously, "Sullivan" is not thinking of Obama here.
Wanted to post early in the thread in hopes that someone at BH will see this…
Would it be possible for Big Hollywood to create an honor roll of those in Hollywood who have taken as stand against Polanski, the NEA, and other liberal causes? I'd like to steer my money in the direction of those who stand on principle in the face of liberal looniness…I'd be willing to bet a lot of us would.
For instance, I've never watched Criminal Minds (not on at a good time in my week), but I'd be willing to get DVDs from Netflix to see what I've been missing and to support Edward Allen Bernero.
The Federal Trade Commission is cracking down on bloggers. Another attempt by this administration to trample the First Amendment. I'm sure the trial lawyers are thrilled; this new 'crack down' opens up all kinds of potential for lawsuits over innocent comments.
Just another attempt to divert the public's attention from the war in Afghanistan. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091005/D9B55KK0...
"Pay no attention, folks! Nothing to see over here! Move along… move along…."

It's too important to ignore. Our soldiers are dying overseas, while the buffoonish Commander in Chief turns his back on them and dines on arugula salad with toasted pecans at party fundraisers.

What does it mean for our monies if the $ is dropped for oil trading, or as a reserve currency?
And where does all the $'s go when they are stopped being used and it's traded for other currencies, to the US?
Wouldn't this flood our monetary system, considering the printing of our $ is already going on?
And would the interest rate have to be raised in order to compensate for the flood of money coming in?
Okeydohkey, as you can see, I have questions…
And by the way, shouldn't Fox Business Channel now be called the part-time Business Channel?
Thank God CNN is fact checking comedy routines! Time to honor their vigilance:

It has long been proposed, by countries jealous of the U.S.'s sucess, that a world currency be established. This is nothing new. What is new is the technique they are using this time. If oil trades are switched to another currency what will it be? Will this change in currency options lead to a massive sell off of U.S. Currency? These are questions that need to be addressed and reflected by our countries economic policies. It is our economic policies that have been enacted since Obama took office that has caused the current move away from the dollar. If this comes to pass the dollar will be devalued to such an extent that we will be subject to inflation with a dwindling money supply at the same time.
Jimma Keeyotta, youah foamuh president, spews gobbidge from his pie-hole: Jimma recently waxed profound on the topic of racism, attempting to marginalize all who dare find fault with Barack the Just and Wise and Just Wise.
It was a near-miracle. When Jimma opened his mouth, the wise thoughts burst forth from his febrile brain, then traveled downward and past his oversized teeth, where they fell right out of his simple head, like sewage from a busted pipe.
All praise Jimma, champion of the world's oppressed and downtrodden, a group which includes a Harvard-educated multimillionaire lawyer-turned-president, while excluding Israeli Jews.
Founding Father's Quote of the Day!
"Wise politicians will be cautious about fettering the government with restrictions that cannot be observed, because they know that every break of the fundamental laws, though dictated by necessity, impairs that sacred reverence which ought to be maintained in the breast of rulers towards the constitution of a country." –Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 25, 1787
They've taken a lesson from the french. *gag*

Robert Young had a very nice looking smile. This photo does not do his smile justice. It is a very poor representation of his smile.
"Would it be possible for Big Hollywood to create an honor roll of those in Hollywood who have taken as stand against Polanski"?
The problem is, once that list was compiled none of them would ever work again.
I agree with the sentiment, but I don't quite follow the significance of the arugula.
Would it have been better if he ate iceberg lettuce and croutons as a show of support for the troops?
My favorite Robert Young movie was the one where he played a soldier and there was a ghost. Geez, I am getting so senile. I can't remember much about it except that I watched it on TV when I was a kid and liked it. (Didn't the ghost ride a torpedo or something like that?)
I'm a little confused by that as well. I know jews have historically skewed democratic, but they've also been strongly pro-Israel (duh). So there's kind of an intellectual skitzoid thing going on there. I can't explain it.
As to the agnostic/atheist thing, they would tend toward secular humanism and hence liberal ideology, so that's common sense. What surprises me is the 35% remainder.
What confuses me about the Atheist thing is the aversion to collectivism. An atheist seems to me, should be the ultimate individualist. The modern liberal is so intertwined with collectivism that an Atheist should look somewhere else for a like mind. At least an Atheist who understands why he is an atheist. Not the "all Christians are just stupid, right-wing, oppressors" kind.
I don't know, Entertainment Weekly did just run an op-ed piece in its latest issue that pretty much slammed the people supporting Polanski and basically saying all the other stuff that's been said here. How much of the industry that speaks for is another story, but it's at least comforting to see that a few people in Hollywood have their limits.
In an archaic manner it would probably be good to have a world currency, but that is taking into account, all the parties involved would play fair, which they won't, so I don't think it will happen.
Currently nations and financiers make a killing by playing games with exchange rates. For example, China's currency is not independent and the government sets it's value to their benefit. And George Soros made multiple "killings" in Russia, Indonesia and I think he pulled the run in Mexico too.
It would be nice if that crap went away, but the potential down sides far out weigh the potential benefits, which would be to the benefit of the common people. Which is why it ain't gonna happen.
Please trust me when I say it's more than a few!
He looks kinda sinister in the photo…
My favorite Robert Young movies are:
The Canterville Ghost
The Enchanted Cottage
Sitting Pretty
"Margaret! Bud! Princess! Kitten! Get your wraps! We're all going down to the Malt Shop!
The three leading actors in the movie "Crossfire" are Robert Young, Robert Ryan, and Robert Mitchum. I'll bet there isn't another picture in the history of movies that has actors with the same first name as leads (at least not THREE!)
Robert Young was great in Northwest Passage!
White House actually passed out those white coats to the dox. What world is this?
What a sweet show that was.
Father Knows Best and Ozzie and Harriet is a little before my time. I remember them from reruns.
If we had Father Knows Best and Ozzie and Harriet on today this would be the theme of the shows: "Princess" would be "struggling" with her sexuality and be getting poignant advice from the schools "women"s" history teacher. "Margaret" would be having an affair with her shrink. "Bud" would be fighting his alcoholism and drug problems. And The good Doctor would be involved in a sexual tryst with Ozzie AND Harriet.
Sound about right?
Robert Young was so wonderful. My only regret is that this dear man had no confidence whatsoever in his ability and thus sank into alcoholism. I'm so thankful he was able to pull himself out towards the end but it grieves me that he spent the bulk of his life suffering. He really was an incredible actor.
I'm asking myself the first thing. I thought it was a joke when I read the headlines – but then I saw the photo. They're all standing there with these stupid grins on their faces wearing these white coats. My God, this is beyond weird!
And less face it, if it were on today, Robert Young wouldn't be the Father–he's too good looking. It would have to be be someone bumbling and fat. The neighbors would have to be a very successful black couple whose children have no problems whatsoever, And sadly, the show would never be called Father Knows Best. More likely, it would be called Dad Learns Another Lesson or something equally inane.
A share of Jews fear Christians, tho they are the Jews best friend, because they still consider Hitlers supposedly representing himself as Christian as a fact and the resulting holocaust regardless he leaned far left as a socialist. There is also the Christian belief in Jesus which is still considered
heresy in Israel. Also, believe it or not there are some Jews that think the time of Israel is past and no longer considered having a special relationship with GOD, They have their hopes tied to this great muslim nation to quote our great and glorious leader as their refuge. I am as usual saying more than I know.

That would be "womyns" history facilitator.
Wow! Am I the first to mention Robert Young was "Marcus Welby, M.D.?" The reference to current affairs is obvious.
By the way, my Dad was a physician practicing during the time Marcus Welby played. He noticed the day following the TV show, many of his patients complained of symptoms featured the previous night, and called it "Welby Syndrome!"
Also, those were the days I envied James Brolin's freewheeling ways; now I pity him in his domestic situation….
And because of MAD Magazine, the first thing that flashed through my head was "Makeus Sickby, M.D."
Much like Warner Bros cartoons have derailed my internal classical music narrative, MAD has "Florence of Arabia" and "2001: A Space Idiocy" rattling around in my brain pan.
I remember Mr. Streisand was a cool, swinging, motor-cycle riding young doc with attitude on Marcus Welby M.D.. Remember this was the seventies. He was actually almost likable then.
Ahhh, Dr. Steve Kiley…what hath you wrought?

How does Obama enjoy support from 64% of American jews and like 9% of Israelis?

It also appears that 65% of my agnostic/atheist brethren are a bunch of idiots as well.

Reminded me of one the great moments in PR history. In 1916, the great Nathan Handwerker began under-cutting the boardwalk competition by selling his franks for a nickel instead of the dime everyone else was charging. His competitors spread rumors that he was obviously using inferior cuts of meat (and worse), and that to eat his hot dogs was to risk serious illness. Nathan had a picture taken of a bunch guys in white lab coats with stethoscopes eating at his stand, and claimed they were doctors from Coney Island Hospital.
That was subtle compared to the White House photo-op.
I guess I may as well plug some of the writings on 3 blogs I run here. Let's see what I have to offer…
From my politics blog: Muslim riots at the Temple Mount and Shuafat, incited by our "peace partners" Fatah/Hamas.
From my comics blog: Marvel editor Tom Brevoort says they won't go back to the "classic" version of the Avengers. Of course they won't, because they're letting Brian Bendis destroy the series now.
And, from my game blog: a video of the GI Joe video game made by Konami in 1992! The recent movie was awful, but this game by contrast is worth the price of admission.
Anyone else noticing that the Reply threads are broken again. I am seeing "6 replies", but clicking on it only displays 1.
Come on Big Hollywood, this is basic stuff and the site has been up for over 9 months now.
Well, I think the logical philosophical conclusion to atheism would be existentialism, so you're quite correct in that an atheist with intellectual integrity should be individualist to the extreme. However, real existentialist philosophy is so inherently depressing that few people can emotionally embrace it. That may be why, as some others have suggested, most liberals run on emotion rather than logic.
By the way, I've been a Christian for the past 34 years, and I've met relatively few "stupid, right-wing oppressors" in the Church. Mostly, they're just people.

Very late in life, Robert Young was diagnosed as bi-polar. He spent a life time under that pressure, but you never hear anyone say anything bad about him. Kids adored him and he was married to the same woman for decades. It's a shame that people have to suffer and it's a shame when they have given so much to so many, even simply in entertainment, and are still cursed and must suffer.
