Fight For America
by Spike SpencerAs I sit here in a Sydney hotel listening to the news of our savior’s next plan to change America as we know it, (you remember America, the engine of capitalism, a force for good all around the globe, and the last refuge of freedom and prosperity for millions escaping tyranny and oppression), I simply can’t resist the urge to reluctantly look forward at the enormous chasm of ruin this lemming-leader is leading us toward.
We used to be a strong, quiet nation, a big sleeping lion. It wasn’t wise to poke us with a stick and arouse our wrath. Now we seem to be becoming more and more like a fat neutered bull with dull horns with no will to do anything other than chew cud and remember the good old days when we were the hero of that joke about the old bull and the young bull up on the hill checking out the hot cows in the pasture. Hmm… Do they make Viagra for bulls nowadays? I do believe our collective heroic independence and valor needs a shot in the libido.
I have done a bit of traveling in my day and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is so damn great about the European socialist way of thinking. And why are Europeans so damn smug about it? How does abdicating power over personal freedoms and all responsibility for one’s own (and one’s family) well-being to a faceless, unconcerned, and thoroughly inept government bureaucracy lead to smuggery? I mean, isn’t that really the least courageous thing you can possibly do? Aren’t we all taught from a very early age how to take care of ourselves? We learn to wipe ourselves. We learn to tie our shoes. We learn to avoid our taxes as best we can. Hopefully in that order. So when did the great thinkers of the world decide that someone else could do all these things better than we can? I know, I know, we can trace it back to the time when it really worked well.
Uh, when was that exactly?
After hearing Sotomayor fumble the question as to whether the right to protect one’s self is as basic as breathing, I think I have a better idea of what the problem is. ARROGANCE! With a capital “Arrr.” That’s pirate lingo for “Testify!” Absolute, all encompassing arrogance teamed with that illiterate sense of entitlement you can only gain by being a person of the left. What a dangerous combination. Don’t we all laugh at the stupid rednecks on America’s Funniest Home Videos who throw rocks at hornets’ nests. And isn’t it always humorous when they precede this absolute idiocy with, “Hey watch this, yuck yuck.” Well I get the exact same feeling every time I hear Barack Obama is ramming through another ill-advised, oops, scratch that. I meant to say ramming a “totally unadvised or reviewed in any way” bill through Congress. Every time he says, “We must do this now.” just think. “Hey watch this, yuck, yuck.”
The most unfortunate part of all of this is that they’re woefully underestimating their own superiority and intelligence. Reality and common sense have never come close to their sphere of influence. If they were the most brilliant thinkers in the world and had a way to make everything all butterflies and rainbows, that would be neat. We could sing songs together and dance in fields of Lillie’s safe from rising oceans — thanks to Obama’s godlike hand calming the angry waters and cooling the earth. We would have plenty of food, there would be no poor, sick, or aged and infirm. We would all have great houses with ocean views. We would be on a constant vacation full of excitement and adventure. We would have the Internet and unlimited cable channels piped directly into our brains. All defecation would cease, our urine would actually become lemonade, and our farts would smell of wildflowers (although theirs already do, of course). All the Taliban and communists would go into the teddy bear business and give free hugs to all the infidels. And finally every other well intentioned, yet completely misguided liberal social program would not have been monumental failures.
Wow, that was some great Peyote I just had. Okay, I’m a little woozy after my spirit walk, but I’m alright –I’m part Cherokee, so I can handle it. My wolf spirit-guide told me I need to move away because this country is going down the tubes. But I told him a thing or three. Wolfie, I says, this is my country. Then I says, stop licking yourself, it’s unseemly. This is the country for everyone searching for freedom from tyranny. All we ask of them is that they pull their own weight. It makes it easier for us all if we’re all pulling the wagon together. E Pluribus Unum, baby!
I’m not one of those wussy Hollywood types who cry and bitch and moan about leaving if we elect a President with backbone. Although, I sure wish those who do would keep their word for once. Nope, I’m staying right here and fighting for what this country is all about. Self-reliance and responsibility. I will do my best to take care of me and mine. Then I will do my best to help those near me. Throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at Palestine or any other far away country that hates us is sheer stupidity. Put the oxygen mask on yourself and then you can help others. We can’t throw money we don’t have at things that won’t do any good for anyone. Let’s focus on getting our cojones back and fight “the power,” fight “The Man,” because “The Man” is truly tying to keep you down, regardless of your race, color, or creed.
So don’t get lulled into the idea that a few hundred ignorant narcissists in a faraway land called Washington D.C. have your best interest at heart. They do not. Regardless of party affiliation, I say sack ‘em all and start over. Stand up! Join us! Be strong and take responsibility for you and yours. Remember what this country promises: equality of opportunity, not outcome. A chance. A shot at the brass ring. The last and best shot this planet has to offer. If we squander it, we only have ourselves to blame.
I’m just sayin…

A very interesting and nice post, Spike – what's going on down in Sydney! Hey look at Chris Dodd, yuk,yuk;
p.s. don't mix the buttons with the wine
Conservative response: "Right on, brother!"
Predicted liberal response: "Cram it, Shinji."
Arrogance. I've decided that that's why the left doesn't care that socialism has never worked. ____Lefty: "Of course, it hasn't! WE weren't running it back then!"____They seem convinced that it will work this time simply because THEY are doing it. And, of course, they can never be wrong.
Great post Spike, and will surely agitate our feckless liberals, and their devoted love of their Barry. America is the greatest country in the history of civilization and is indeed worth fighting for …give’em hell America.

The liberal motto: "Attack. Attack. Attack. Never defend."
When I saw Sotomayor not able to answer the question about whether or not we have a right to self defense, I realized that she was a moron, the Senators who confirmed her were imbeciles and the man who picked was an idiot.
I think they are about to discover we have outflanked their wedge maneuver.

Ditto.
Except for the line about the Obama administration "woefully underestimating their own superiority and intelligence." That had to be the peyote talking.
Didn't you mean to say "overestimating"?
Unfortunately, at this point in time, all of those past tense state of being words (i.e. was, were) should be in present tense (i.e. is and are). God, I wish that was not the case.
SPIKE !!!! SPIKE!!! SPIKE!!!!!
I only pray that the new EVANGELION movies are concurrent with your personal philosophy!!

Well-played. Ups/
Hear, hear.
But don't fall into the trap of thinking that all Europeans are in love with their system and essentially anti-American when it comes to the US acting with strength in the world. The leadership may feel that way, and the press makes it look like ALL Europeans fell that way, but there is a significant portion that does not.
My Swedish father-in-law has teased me during his last few visits to the states (including a couple during the last two years of Bush 43's presidency) that Sweden's government is now more conservative than ours! People in Europe wh think like you have no voice in their government an no voice to the world, but they are there in higher numbers than you would suspect.
ARRRRRRRRRR
"I'm just saying…" So true!
MR. SPENCER,
WELL DONE!!! YOU ARE DEAD ON THE MONEY!!! I'D LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO DO IT MORE….

Well done and keep them coming!
"Reality and common sense have never come close to their sphere of influence."
Nope, not even close. So frustratingly true!
Good article.
And that is a very beautiful picture of the American flag!
I will die on my feet, rather than live on my knees.

A very unfortunate difference between a redneck doing something stupid, and Obama doing something stupid is the redneck as a rule suffers the consequences of his own actions.
Truly unfortunately, Obama does not. If he were to, he would either put himself completely out of action with one of his stupid stunts, or at the very least slow himself down considerably.
Either way works for me……..the sooner, the better.
"Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves." ~~D.H. Lawrence, Classical American Literature, 1922
" . . . equality of opportunity, not outcome."
The essence, in a nutshell. Well written and most welcome essay.
What are you talking about? Shinji is the archetypal liberal…except he actually manages to do things besides complain every once in a while…
I hear that the main characters are now not so much the doormats that they were in the TV version.
Arrogance. I've decided that that's why the left doesn't care that socialism has never worked.
Lefty: "Of course, it hasn't! WE weren't running it back then!"
They seem convinced that it will work this time simply because THEY are doing it. And, of course, they can never be wrong. Come to think of it, if they push their system through and it fails, they'll just say that we didn't help enough. It can never, ever, be their fault.
What a bunch of bullshit….. We have been more like a lion runnin rampant through the world….. with some misconceived conservative notion that we KNOW better when we cannot even manage our own country. You my friend are either completely oblivious to facts or plain ignorant and I am not sure which.
"We have been more like a lion runnin (sic) rampant through the world"…
I'm not sure what you're saying here: that's a bad thing?

These 'international citizens', came from our culture of comfort and malignant narcissism. They took that comfort, protection and money, and they went abroad to educate themselves on world culture. Then they invaded our universities and our public schools. Then they took the microphone of our media and then they proceeded to castrate the country, urged on by the proctor of their united nations mindset.
I'm not sure what the cure is, but I hope it doesn't resemble what the French did after the enlightenment.
I will not go silently into tyranny…
Spike,
A march on Washington is what we need!! We will all be there!. The sleeping lion is us and we are angry and about to wake….
Great Post
LIBERAL ARROGANCE. Wow your so correct in that "all encompassing arrogance teamed with that illiterate sense of entitlement you can only gain by being a person of the left". Can I also add "to narrow minded to put yourself in someone elses shoes".
right on!
yes, here it is:

a very good piece, enjoyed reading it!
I don't say that Obama is unpatriotic and doesn't mean well (saying that: the road to hell is paved with good intentions) I just say that he doesn’t have an American instincts. That's why he is not able to appeal to those values of an American character, dating back to before Am. Revolution, that made this country great. Roosevelt made a lot of moves in a similar direction while dealing with crisis, but he had those instincts and that was the mitigating influence in the end.
Maybe one has to also remember that Obama is a keen autobiographer – two memoirs, that's got to be some record in a history of writing. Plus a contract for another one, after leaving the office, has been already signed…Psychologists could elaborate more on this.
That's good news. In any case, as long as Shinji 'manning up' is still a basic part of the story, it will certainly be watchable for the conservative.

The question is, will we be able to keep that up as long as they do?
I just spent a week in Finland having fun.. my experience was that every male wanted to talk to me about America and I had to be very careful about how I corrected their misconceptions (but it was possible to do it). The females seemed completely receptive to a different point of view on America.
The smugness is an act. Look at America and then look at these other Western countries individually. Of course they are insecure. You don't have to roll over for it though.
I tell them, "They lie to you guys over here. They tell you we turn people away from hospitals, that people starve, none of that is true. Think about it… look at what America is and ask yourself if we could really be stupid. You know it's not possible. I'm happy to tell you anything you want to know. Compare it to what you've been led to believe."
We have been the lion keeping control of our section in the jungle, and our jungle has been much better for it. Our planes fly all over the world, our cars used to sell all over the world, and our technology made the world a better place to live, even if it was just water supply for back corners of the jungle.
Then the 'better informed' 'big government' types have stepped in and our system has been faltering since. We, the people can and do manage our country, if you would just back off and let us. In each segment of the economy that's faltering is direct government interference. Banks? They can't even decide who to loan money to, thanks to the community development act. It's your pious hog wash that's destroying the quality of life around the entire globe, you just want a chance to work your magic here in the US as well.
America has never been an easy nut to crack, we'll see what happens before the fat lady sings in this one.
Our country was founded on the idea that it's people were the most important asset, and that they ran the show. So, when this current group comes in and treats us like we're the problem to be managed and herded like sheep, of course there is going to be friction. I hope the people that are assets to the country get control, and keep the people who can't be trusted out of power, very quickly. We know who they are, don't we?
Oh yes, Shinji 'manning up' would be a definite improvement over the TV version.
In Shinji's defense, he was after all created by a man who was recovering from a nervous breakdown.
The dangerous thing about antidepressants is that they restore one's volition before they restore one's equanimity — there's a short period where one's still depressed, but one actually has the strength of will to do something about it. This is where the risk of suicidal, self-destructive or otherwise reckless behavior is greatest… which I think explains a lot about the original Evangelion.
The economy is faltering because of direct government interference? You seem to have rewritten history there. The subprime loan crisis started when over-zealous lenders, free from regulation, made loans they shouldn't have made to risky borrowers in a quest to make more and more money.
It's easy to write worthless platitudes like "we the people can and do manage our country" but what does that mean exactly? Isn't the government made of "we the people" as the US Constitution says? Or do you plan on delivering your own mail, fighting your own fires, paving your own highways?
America is a great country, one I love dearly, but those that blindly declare we're the best in every manner and that we're "lions keeping control of our section in the jungle" show nothing but ignorance and hubris.
The community redevelopment act was government interference. And your blaming the bankers for the sub prime loan mess is such a crock full of poo. Clinton threatened to use the justice department against banks that didn't loan enough to certain areas, and a certain young lawyer worked on the settlement while working with Acorn. Does Obama's effort in that area make the news? No, not even Franks, and Dodd's running interference when Bush wanted reform to Save freddy mac and Fannie mae.
You are trying to re-write history, and it sounds full of hubris to me.
History according to your 7th grade public school teacher that graduated from Berkeley?
I don't really care why the elitists ruling class in Europe are "smug." But it's probably because they have many of their populace right where they want them. Subjugate, subordinate, and stripped of much of their individual ability to overcome economic adversity. A distant goal indeed… I'm so tired of the politically correct "Thought Police" dictating their "divide and conquer" propaganda without the "tolerance" or time for opposing views or honest debate. Things like delivering a 1000+ page bill to congress with a demand that it be passed within less than 48 hours!? The most expensive "Stimulus Packages" in US history ram-rodded through congress effectively saddling future generations with the largest debt in our history!? I'm just saying anything that's so damn good for everyone should be able stand the scrutiny Obama promised in his bid for election. I found Spike Spencer's comments timely, brutally honest and down right brave for someone in his position.
