Leftist Hollywood Injects Divisive Politics Into Miss USA Pageant… Again
by Larry O'ConnorYou would think that after last year’s Perez Hilton debacle Miss USA officials would have put some serious controls over the questions this year’s judges were allowed to ask the pageant contestants. Instead, Sunday’s event had actor Oscar Nuñez of NBC’s “The Office” grilling Miss Oklahoma on the recently passed anti-illegal immigration law in Arizona.
The question itself is nearly incomprehensible but Miss Oklahoma, Morgan Woolard, handles it with grace, aplomb, and intelligence. Naturally, she didn’t win.
Funny how it’s always a question coming from the political left, challenging a position supported by the political right. Why don’t we ever see: ”Good Evening Miss Vermont. Late-term abortion is a serious issue in our country. Could you please tell us your opinion on extinguishing nascent human life when a baby is only weeks away from being born?” or “Miss Illinois, do you believe President Obama when he says that he never heard Rev. Jeremiah Wright say any controversial statements over the twenty years he attended his church?”.
Of course, I don’t want ANY politics injected into events like this. It’s a beauty pageant for crying out loud. We all know why we’re watching. If we’re going to ask questions at all, can’t we just keep it in the realm of “What is your position on world peace?” and skip to the swimsuit competition?

No one should be in the least surprised that this happened. Any time someone from the left is involved you can count on this sort of disruption.
Actually I think of liberalism as being like someone who comes into your house whether invited or not and then proceeds to “poop” and pee all over everything and destroy most if not all of your most prized possessions and then has the nerve to complain about the mess there and tell you how to clean it all up.
At some point in time the conservatives are going to have to stand up to the liberals and even if it takes armed force, take back our rights and restore this country to the principles under which it was founded. I fail to see anything of value that today’s liberals have contributed to this country and we have no one to blame but ourselves if we do not take a firm stand against the left’s bullying, lying, cheating, destructive, Godless ways.

Agreed. The problem is that we allow them to control the narrative of a story. You have to spend more time defending that you're not a racist, rather than talk about the actual law, and that's exactly what they want.
Only questions that can be answered with "I just want to make a difference" should be asked. We don't watch the pageant for the polemics. If I want to watch stupid political commentary, I'll turn on MSNBC.

The reason for contests like this have been apparent for what, forty – a hundred and forty – years? It's only become an issue since political correctness reared its ugly head. And the lefties are emboldened enough these days to be smacking down disagreeing voices pretty much out in public.

Please take sometime in your personal life to read and try to understand the Quran. When you do, take a bath before reading and make a prayer that God help you see the true meaning. Do not engage in any other activity between the bath and during the reading. A number of people have spent so much time writing, reading, listening, arguing, thinking about Islam. Just try this once for your original research … with no other influences.
The Miss USA pageant struck gold last year with all the media attention. This pageant, the one I always thought of as the boring second-stringer to the also-boring Miss America pageant, has suddenly become relevant and newsworthy to the public. Don't expect them to stop manufacturing controversy anytime soon.

Miss USA pageant is a place for Trumpt to do something stupid to get attention. Remember last year, He picked a queer to judge a ladies beauty pageant. He voted against Prejean for her answer to his sick question.
Oscar Nunez is an useful idiot! He lives in his plush, privileged little acting world and has probably forgotten what a seriously hard days work for every single dollar you make, without huge benefits, feels like. I've seen a couple of the "Office" episodes, and I don't even know who this guy is? Count your blessings before you set out to make someone else (innocent contestant) look foolish in front of the world- you coward! Maybe you can see how much clout you actually have and ask to meet Presidente Calderon this week at the WH and ask what he's doing (in Mexico) about all those poor, unfortunate citizens of his country who are fleeing his country and who are dying in the desert, and who are being raped and robbed and worse, because of his governments policies and priorities? When was the last time you raised a finger to do something about that situation, Nunez? Talk is cheap-man up.
This year's pageant would've been the perfect time to ask the winner how she felt about Islamic terrorism. Or how Islam suppresses any forms of women's rights. And isn't this country great that a Muslim woman can actually show how hot she is? No "honor killings" here.
As an Oklahoman, I'm quite frankly pissed. This was a sucker punch from the left on a very sweet, intelligent, and extraordinarily beautiful young woman. I don't know when beauty pageants turned into progressive hate fests or who I blame more, Nunez for politicizing the question or Trump for encouraging it to raise the ratings.

I love The Office, and Oscar is a pretty likable character. Why oh why did he have to show how genuinely uninformed and stupid he is? The writers have already put enough political references in the show, the actors don't need to add their own self-important stupidity to it as well.

I am a naturalized American citizen who originally came from Cuba 50 years ago and I support the Arizona law. What the detractors forget is that this law does nothing different than the questions you are asked when you travel by airplane. If you are legally in this country and have your identification, then you have nothing to worry about. I get tired of listening to people who keep repeating "undocumented workers". If you entered illegally, you have broken the law. Period.
What do we say to the thousands of potentila immigrants who have provided their documents, had their medical checkups, and attented their interviews with consular officers at our embassies around the world for the chance to come to the USA? These folks played by the rules and obeyed the law as we all should.
Arizona has a serious problem with illegals crossing the borders and they are addressing it because the federal Govt. has failed miserably to do their job which is to protect our borders. Millions of Arizona citizens of Mexican ancestry live in Arizona as American citizens or legal residents and the law does not affect them. We seem to forget that the key word here is "illegal", as in breaking the law.
I love how the questioner says how they should hear the question befroe booing. Of course, creating thhe assumption that booing was the majority, when in fact, more people cheered.
He made a statement and got booed and his response was, wait for the question before you boo, as he proceeded to make yet a second statement. Sooper smart, no wonder they made him a judge!

I am undoubtedly wrong about this or am simplifying it too much, but I have always thought that the Quran was the basis upon which a reputed religion was founded….a religion not of peace but one which was spread entirely by the sword and subjugated its conquered lands to hideous repression; a religion which renders half of its adherents no better than possessions to be used, abused, and tortured at the hands of its other half. Consequently I think the bath needs to be taken after reading rather than before.
What we need to do is get a bunch of folks to walk around LA or SD or where ever they want to boycot AZ. If the cops ask you for ID, make a stink. Make sure, though, that you work in the question, "What do you think this is…. Arizona?" Let see how well they like that.

Actually, I think the writers on The Office have done a remarkably good job of keeping political messages out of the show, at least compared to other shows on TV. Most hot-button issues, if they get referenced at all, are limited to the cold open or somewhere else in passing. It does bother me, though, that Nunez would say something like this. Also I understand Kate Flannery (aka Meredith) was a rather zealous Obama supporter in '08, at least more publicly than others on the show. (Given her character, maybe that's not as much of a letdown.) Anyway, this doesn't mean you can't watch The Office anymore. If you're like me, just imagine that Jenna Fischer is secretly a conservative. Could stare at her all day…
From what I heard, Miss OK got applause for her answer. Good for her! Miss Michigan – beautiful yes. A little empty between the ears, yes.

You know, I think its confirmed that if ever there is an argument or "war" of some kind (culture war, and the like), it's usually started by the Left mucking with things that should be left alone. No one ever died from saying a prayer in school, or seeing a creche in front of City Hall or a picture of the Ten Commandments in a courthouse, or listening to Christmas carols on the radio. Yet, someone just had to start something, didn't they.
Same thing with this. The show is lame and has been lame for a long time. So why not making it even less watchable. I'm sure even people who might think that the AZ law is "misguided" in some way didn't tune into the pageant (if they tuned in at all) to listen to this garbage.
Maybe we're getting lucky here – maybe the Left is really digging its own grave. They keep opening up their mouths and showing all of America what they are really about. And I think more and more Americans are saying: No thank you!
Although I find this as appalling as anyone else, I don't see why everyone's shocked by the incident. Let's face it, the "Miss America" or "Miss USA" or "Miss Whatever" pageants are shows where the contestants are invariably asked vapid, politically correct questions. I mean, this is a beauty competition, not a test of critical thinking skills. With those questions, the key to success for the contestants is to give some vapid, politically correct answers, like "I think everyone should strive for world peace" or "I think we have no right to judge other people and their lifestyles" or "I think we should stop discriminating against people like in Arizona." I'm not saying this isn't outrageous, but I think our ire should be spent less on this particular pageant and more on the media culture that makes answers like Miss Oklahoma's unacceptable.

Regarding the winner, the few images I saw of her made me a fan of her. Each photo added upon the looks of the previous photo and I couldn't wait to see the next photo. She did look good in my eyes and I am happy she won on that basis.

All that mattered to me regarding the winner was that she had a Lebanese heritage and that was that.
Now I've come to know what kinds of questions the ladies had to answer and even though I agree that such questions can be over the top, I cannot stop smiling at the actual content of both of the questions and the answers.

Which one…. as I understand it the Wahabbis in Saudi Arabia have created new texts with parenthetical additions to the Quran. i.e. it say something like "do not eat with the basphemers who walk not on God's path" and they add the sentence "such as the Jews, kill them all". What pleases me about the way it turned out last year is that Carrie Prejean went on to show what a classy lady she is, while it appears that Perez Hilton realized his 15 minutes of fame was over. Litmus testing for beauty pageants should include what it's always included, beauty, poise, talent, and the perfunctory "I just want world peace" questions. Nunez is Perez lite but at least he wasn't as vulgar. (as far as I know)
I've only seen the highlights of pageants when they make the news for some other reason as they seem rather vapid.
However I don't think that this year is comparable to what happened to Carrie Prejean last year. Nunez hasn't started hurling abuse at the Oklahoma girl, other judges haven't come out expressing their disgust at her and her pageant organisers haven't been cheering on those attacking her.
The depths of character assassination and intrusion into her personal life that Prejean suffered at the hands of the Miss Universe organisation and the allies in the gossip media, admittedly aided by some missteps of her own, is almost without parallel. As I've said before I hope she can rebuild some kind of career and will be supported in doing so.

I think you are referring to the Hadith (traditions). If so, yes, many Muslims consider the Hadith to be as accurate as the Koran. Sorta like liturgical Christians consider church tradition to be almost as good as the Bible (although there are some obvious differences in this parallel).
You have to understand that telling a Muslim to ignore the Hadith is not going to work. They don't have the same worldview as you. (I know, I've tried numerous times).
While I agree, just remember that some religions are more 'editable' than others. Christians consider the Bible to be the Word of God, and get upset when anything is added or taken away (rightfully so). But you can't put a Christian worldview on other religions.
You have hit on one of the big problems for Islam in the West: Muslims have a very rigid very of the Koran (not editable), but then they are regularly editing it with the Hadith (traditions, often printed in the columns or bottom of the page). I don't have an answer to this; I don't think anyone does. I think the only solution will be that the Islamic world has to revisit its traditions.

I actually think this is a good idea, with the idea of know thy enemy, and I have read much of the Quran. I find it very very disturbing, but am glad to know the rules under which I, as a non Muslim, am viewed and the punishments I am subject to for my behaviors, etc… Understanding someone who wishes to destroy you can only help.

This type of attempt at humiliation goes back at least to Michael Moore's "Roger & Me," wherein he repeatedly ambushed Miss Michigan (who seemed like a genuinely sweet person) during a parade in an attempt to frame her as somehow responsible for…….what? I have no idea.
There's a lot of misogyny on the Left. The have an intense hatred for the feminine and only "celebrate women" who adopt the very worst aspects of masculine nature. Ironically, they also "celebrate" open displays of sexuality, which they view as "empowering" for women. Got it now?

The only outcome that I can see from this whole pageant is that the runner up, who should have won, will end up with the crown cause the winner didn't disclose that she had a secret public pole dancing fetish.
Does pole Dancing still qualify as a bad thing in the moralities clause of their contract? it is owned by The Donald after all…..
