I knew Jane Fonda’s blog would be a treasure-trove of fun information!
Last night was the first preview for “33 Variations” at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, and to celebrate her triumphant return to the Great White Way, Blog-erella posted pics of all of the very, very important people who came to see and support her. I suggest you check it out and look at the pics… It is a veritable “Jurassic Park” of feminist raptors!
Gloria Steinem, who according to Jane, lectured the actor playing Beethoven:
“Zach Grenier who plays Beethoven said today that he had a glorious conversation with Gloria Steinem about Beethoven. No surprise to me that Gloria could teach him a few things about the master. She’s so amazing.”
Ugh! Can you imagine THAT insufferable cocktail conversation? You’ve just finished your first preview… you’re trying to relax with a Wild Turkey on the rocks, and here comes MS. Gloria to tell you everything SHE knows about Ludwig Von! CHECK PLEASE!
Eve Ensler, famous for only one thing: Writing an excruciatingly painful-to-watch play about a woman’s body part that rhymes with Regina (long vowel sound on the “i” please)

Cristina Biaggi, (Jane spells her name wrong) a doctor in anthropology, a sculptor and an author whose most famous book is, The Rule of Mars: The Origins, History and Impact of Patriarchy. She seems obsessed with “Goddess Culture” and…. oh, I just can’t finish this… you get the picture!!!
The only mention of a human with male body parts is a picture of a stunning bouquet of flowers sent by none other than Val Kilmer, Jane’s neighbor in New Mexico (Those must be really fun block parties).
It’s so ironic that the actress who starred as a prostitute in “Walk on the Wild Side” and “Klute” is now surrounding herself exclusively with feminist leaders and icons. Is she trying to cleanse herself from her notorious past with domineering husbands like Roger Vadim, Ted Turner and even Tom Hayden?
Did you ever notice that Henry’s daughter always seemed to allow the men in her life to shape and mold her persona?
- While married to Vadim, she was the international sex kitten movie star who would participate in threesomes so as not to lose her man.
- While married to radical leftist Hayden, she suddenly dropped the uber-femininity and became a denim-wearing, hippie-hairstyled, radical war-protester living in a “shack” (as she described it) and funneling all of her millions from her workout empire into leftist organizations.(did you ladies know that when you bought that video you were supporting radical leftist groups set up by Hayden and Jane?)
- While married to Ted Turner, she became a tomahawk chopping, Southern-belle wife of a billionaire. She went from living in a shack to living in 28 homes and moved her life to Atlanta and happily gave up her film career (which he requested) to make her man happy.
And now she’s surrounded by feminists of the highest order. I wonder if they’ve ever discussed the fact that Jane used to procure prostitutes for those infamous three-somes with Vadim? Here’s the best part of these stories… Jane characterized the situation as Vadim FORCING her into these threesomes by “bullying” her.. but it doesn’t really sound like Roger had a really tough sell:
Also on “60 Minutes,” Fonda acknowledged that she had participated in sexual threesomes at the encouragement of her first husband, French film director Roger Vadim. “One night Vadim brought another woman into my bed and I went along with it. … I’m competitive … I was going to keep up with the Joneses. It was the ’60s and whatever,” she said.
She told the program she isn’t sure if she enjoyed the ménage à trois, but said she consented because she worried he would leave her otherwise.
Let me get this straight: “I’m competitive,” “It was the 60’s,” and she’s not sure if she enjoyed it? THAT’S the extent of the “bullying” and FORCED sexual activity? Well, this should be easy to clear up… let’s just ask Roger Vadim for his side of the story. Oops! We can’t. Vadim died five years before Fonda wrote her autobiography in which she revealed their intimate secrets and these charges.
What a courageous woman she is.
I love the irony that MS. Steinem all but anoints Blog-erella as a sister in the fight for women, especially given her past track record of exploitation of prostitutes and history of succumbing to and being compliant with male patriarchy. But at the mention of Sarah Palin’s name, Steinem says:
“It’s such an insult,” and she goes on to add, “Having someone who looks like you and behaves like them — who looks like a friend but behaves like an adversary—is worse than having no one.”
“Behaves like them… like an adversary?” Really? You mean like a woman who throws away her career for her husband, gives all of the profits from her business to her husband’s favorite causes, and pimps for prostitues for threesomes rather than alienate her husband’s affections… is that adversarial behavior?
Oh, apparently that is the definition of a feminist.

Wow! Jane's done so much for the health, wealth and happiness of this great land. She cleared up Hayden's acne, she stopped Ted from colorizing the MGM film vault, and she knows how to kibbitz with the manatees on the view.

It also explains the Hollywood love affair with Fidel Castro, a man who routinely wore combat fatiques and carried a pistol on his side. They love communism and socialism because they want to be told exactly what to do.
I would like to know where the great debate is between the Women’s Studies department and the Islamic Studies department at these liberal universities. The fact is that they don’t want to be adversarial unless it is toward their own brothers, sisters, and neighbors.

That quote of Steinem’s about Sarah Palin is so offensive. And who exactly is “them?” Men? Conservatives? People who think that abortion is murder? Really, I’d like to know exactly why the so-called feminists in this country can only support *some* women and how they reconcile their hatred of women who don’t subscribe to a very narrow set of views.
Isnt it wonderful to see Fonda describe Eve Ensler as “My wonderful force-of-nature-friend, Eve Ensler,”? How lovely it is to see a woman whose play condones the sexual abuse of young girls (as long as the perpetrator is a woman) described in such glowing terms by someone who claims moral superiority over so many others.
These Old Harpies are just a bunch of self-serving hypocrites. Important to no one but themselves. Yuck!
I forgot to add this little item about Jane Fonda’s legacy to women. In her autobiography she revealed that she had an eating disorder during the time she was selling the workout tapes and opening gyms under her name.
She was perfectly willing to take millions of dollars from women and lead them to believe that they could have a body like hers if they just worked harder at it… yet in reality, the only way they COULD have had that body was if they had starved themselves like she did.
A true champion for women. Gloria and Eve must be so proud of her.

The troll is the one who comes in to make fun of or spit venom at the majority of the people reading the pieces and commenting on them (including those who disagree with the premise of the piece they are commenting on). The “why aren’t you doing something to (fill in the blank)” trope is tired, and useful only to those who are too lazy or too ignorant to understand that not everyone is interested in their pet causes and that everything in life isn’t about “saving the world.” Hollywood. Movies. Plays. Actors. This is neither “The New Republic” nor “”National Review, and isn’t meant to be.
If the themes of “Big Hollywood” are too pedestrian for your political tastes, I suggest you turn to the myriad other blogsites which address your particular interests. Personally, I like an occasional break from the government- and politics-directed publications, and find that “Big Hollywood” fulfills that desire.
The harpies mentioned in the original article have indeed accomplished something, but so did Hitler, Stalin and Mao. I don’t find that to be much of a criterion. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to find that many the posters have, indeed, done something with their lives. But since we’ve never heard of them, I do them the respect of listening to what they have to say knowing that their fame alone is not the sole reason we are expected to listen to anything they have to say.

During one of her phases, Jane Fonda became a “Christian”. Does anyone know anything more about this. If so, she is certainly palling around a lot of totally unchristian people now.

I was pretty excited about that and watched 2 or 3 interviews with her, in every interview she made very clear that her “Christianity” had nothing to do with being Christian, it was weird, but the bottom line is that it didn’t appear to be a real conversion.

Interesting that she received flowers from Val Kilmer. He has been hinting at running for governor of New Mexico. Is a cabinet post or a campaign post in her future?

When my brother went to Nam in the late 60’s he was sprayed with Agent Orange, in 1997 I gave my brother a kidney because he was dying from a war so many years ago. The mention of Hanoi Jane brings such heartache to my family and myself that I could hardly read this article because of her participation in the Hanoi Hilton and her traitorous actions against our soldiers. So with that I must say that your either young and don’t know the history of this traitor or your just another troll like the rest of us, but were just wiser about the history of this snake!
I suspect that like so many feminists she's bisexual. Part of her wants to be a loving wife and please her hubby, and part of her is uncomfortable with that role. I think it's quite endearing that at least she tried.

After reading this post by Stage Right, I am reminded of a statement made by pseudo-feminist Gloria Steinem in an opinion piece 'Palin: wrong woman, wrong message' (LA Times, September 4, 2008)
"Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere".
I believe if Ms. Steinem were being honest a more accurate statement would have been:
"It's about making life more fair for all liberal women everywhere".
The silence from Steinem, Ensler, and company when Sarah Palin was hung in effigy by two twisted souls in West Hollywood in late October of 2008 was shameful. Where was the public condemnation from these women for this outrageous act? To the best of my knowledge, there was none. Ms. Fonda included.
As for me, I'll take my wife, my daughter, Sarah Palin, and countless other strong conservative women of character and values over these charlatans in drag any day of the week.

Fonda made millions off of the vulnerabilties of consumers. Sounds AWFULLY familiar. Fonda is hardly alone. Arnold Schwarzenegger comes to mind. The people working to be like Arnold in the 70's and 80's weren't told he was taking steriods and he made money off of them. Whatever. As a consumer, we have choices. We have the choice to do research and decide what's best for us.
