Who cars about box office dollar numbers if you’re not in the business? They don’t mean much. Most people couldn’t care less how much money a movie made.

How many tickets were sold? That’s how movies should be listed as far as all-time popularity goes.

I get why people are quick to make fun of the new 3D movies coming out, but I totally agree, this is not your momma’s 3D. I was also skeptical, until I saw the Philharmagic ride at Disneyworld and Bolt in theaters. A completely amazing experience, I can’t begin to describe it. (This from a kid who as a child was traumatized by that horrible Michael Jackson 3D movie.) It adds a depth to the screen, a tangibility to the characters that I didn’t realize I was missing out on until I actually saw it. Plus there were no gotcha moments in Bolt with the technology that exploited the 3D aspect, just pure magic. The only problem it that the ticket price was crazy high, but since ticket prices are high in general, at least you get more bang for your buck. So really, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it; I can’t wait to see my next 3D movie.

The IMAX Superman Returns with 3-D interludes looked great (and the best parts of the movie). Zazi, as a 41-year old who cringes at a Karate Kid re-do (even with Jacki Chan), remember–we are not the intended audience, just as our parents were not the audience for Bill & Ted, Lo Those Many Years Ago. (but me & my folks did all love Karate Kid) We’re not the Hannah Montana audience either, yet she’s doing pretty well without my $$.

A remake of My bloody valentine? I already heard about remakes of Bill & Ted and the Karate Kid. As a man in his thirties why would I want to pay to see this unoriginal crap? Give them five years and they’ll give us “remakes” of Sixth Sense and Lord of the Rings.
