Sarandon Evicts Reporter From Creative Coalition Event
by Stephen HayesRobin Roberts of ABC News asked Barack Obama what he would remember most about his inauguration day.
“You know,” he said, “I think it is just the way that the American people have made this about more than just an election. You get a sense that kids are rethinking their priorities; neighbors are starting to think about each other differently.” (Your dog wants to do what on my lawn? Sure, no problem!)
Some things haven’t changed, however.
Exhibit A – Susan Sarandon. According to this report from Politico, not only did Sarandon refuse to answer a question from a reporter at a Creative Coalition Brunch – a brunch to which some reporters were invited – she actually had the reporter kicked out of the event.
“We spotted Susan Sarandon and we wondered if she would say a word or two about Obama’s speech. So we asked her. Everyone else was abuzz about the newly-elected prez so we assumed she would be too, right? Well, not so much. Sarandon told us she wanted to grab a bite to eat first. Fair enough, we said. We’d catch her later.
But before we could even walk away, a woman ran up and informed us that Sarandon doesn’t do press. Okay, we said. No Sarandon for us. Got it.
Then, moments later, the same woman told us she’s been asked to ask us to leave.
So we did. Just like that. We only wonder how the woman would act if we asked her something realllllly personal.”
It’s easy to be critical of Sarandon. After all, the reporter was just doing her job and, at the risk of sounding hysterical, kicking her out for simply asking a question is something more likely to happen in Fidel Castro’s Cuba than at a fancy brunch on the first day of Barack Obama’s America.
But let’s not be too quick to criticize. Sarandon has demonstrated – again and again – that she should not be talking to the media. To take just one example, last year at about this time, she took questions from Time readers. One asked why she was supporting John Edwards for president.
“He is the most authentic character,” she said, later adding that Edwards “really is who he says he is.”
If you were on record saying such things, would you be eager to talk a reporter?

Susan is a ho and we shouldn't even waste the bandwidth given to report what she thinks.
If you want to be brave, ask a neocon like Bush if his loyalty is with the US or Israel. You will be arrested. Such a simple question, why are they afraid to answer?
Whether or not this reporter was invited (and you have no proof either way) is irrelevant. She was asked a question that was a puffball. She was asked what she thought about Obama's speech for cripes sake! This is her boy and it wasn't exactly like this sort of question comes from right of center. She made some lame excuse about "getting a bite" and the next thing you know her lackeys are asking for the reporter to leave. The point Awful is that this hack can't even trust herself to answer a puff question. What does that say about what else she isn't wanting to talk about? Her views of communism, abortion, the war? She knew from past experience that by voicing her true feelings about more weighty topics she lost cachet with the American public and she wasn't even going to even take a chance that her real views might slip out so she had the threat neutralized, like so many of you left of center types do. If you can't take the heat, then STFU!
Hey Stephen Hayes, dig your work. Susan Sarandon can’t stand any scrutiny, as it is with all apparatchiks, that could be damaging to the collective, and truthfully her answers could be written without asking the question. The sad part is, the chick has some acting chops, but my wife and I still do our best to avoid her movies, mind you, if she turns up in a movie you’ll think, “oh well, at least she can act.” The same goes for her hubby, Tim, and other actors, Alec Baldwin, you know the list, and man these dudes can act. But somehow these burnt out hippie wannabes along the way have come to believe somebody actually wants to hear their tripe away from the silver screen. I understand the star factor and all that, but damn they also have a certain responsibility to entertainment. Perhaps spending time assuaging your guilt and insulting your customers could take a back seat, and maybe, just maybe, Hollywood could get over itself, then maybe get back to making movies that people would like to see. Get out from under the table, W’s gone. The lectures are old and boring, nonstop for 40 yrs or better, “America bad, America bad… got it!” Dude, I’m kinda glad you got kicked out, and didn’t get the interview, ‘cause I might have the misfortune of once again hearing or reading that America-hating loon’s thoughts. In the immortal words of Frank Zappa, “Shut up and play your guitar.”
On the plus side, I think it is nice that she takes her young son Timmy with her whereever she goes…
KELS…LOL! BURN!!!
CAMPFREDDY…I think Trig could kick Timmy ass.
KELS…LOL! Burn! Yeah!
CAMPFREDDY… I think Trig could kick Timmy’s a&&! (How’s that?)
Sorry about the double post. I blame my Windows machine at work. It’s not MY fault! It is not my fault!!!
Hey Idiot did you read the article? See paragraph below:
Exhibit A – Susan Sarandon. According to this report from Politico, not only did Sarandon refuse to answer a question from a reporter at a Creative Coalition Brunch – a brunch to which some reporters were invited – she actually had the reporter kicked out of the event.
A BRUNCH TO WHICH SOME REPORTERS WERE INVITED. That means there were expected to be ummm….REPORTERS! They ask a question of this hag and she has them thrown out? Is this still America? As her “partner” once said there is a chill wind blowing, only it’s from the left and always has been. It continues to amaze me how you lefties talk out of both sides of your as-es! If this had happened to be a conservative Republican acting this way you would be one of the first to scream about the freedom of the press and you know it.
Pay attention Mr. Awful and perhaps you would learn something (but first you have to get your head out of the sand)
If reporters were “invited” to this function, I’m guessing they were sympathetic to the liberal Hollywood agenda.
No way a FNC and/or “conservative” reporter gets inside. (Jill Dobson reported from outside the event.) There is something fishy going on. You want a real doozy of a soundbite? Google “Dana Delaney abortion comment”.
Sweet Jesus these people have got strange priorities!
What did she ever create?
GWB stated Smirkingly and one time was asked and he turned and actually ran away from a question.
“Mission Accomplished”
“Bring ‘em on” when told of statement by Al Queda to attack US troops
Maybe Sara Palin showed better judgement when he water broke and jeoprodized the life of her own son by delaying a visit to her hospital for the delivery. Susan Sarandon is not a paid public official like Bush who hated the press and felt safe only if the press was Fox News or their boot lickers.
Mr. Piffel – “OK fair enough, I missed that line.” Typical lame weasel-out. Then, “Nevertheless SHE WASN’T ON THE LIST, …” (your capitalization, not mine). I’ve read the article more than once and there’s no indication the reporter wasn’t ON THE LIST (my capitalization – couldn’t resist). The first step to an eviction is a oh-so-polite request to leave. It’s the same thing. As for Susan, she’s in the newly created category of movie hacktress.
Perhaps the real reason is the Ms. Sarandon realized that Timmii is a puff tart and so she became a total #$@king b#%ch, which when you think about it, she always has been one.
That lady is one nasty person.
Apparently she doesn’t have much of an authenticity radar. Who in their right mind ever thought Edwards was authentic anyway?
This is the problem I have with the left today. They are so quick to attach themselves to a personality, they seem to forget we are all human with human flaws and temptations. Nobody, not Reagan, not G Washington not Obama is immune from that reality.
Its mindblowing how shortsighted they are.
Its also really frustrating when they get to determine who can be criticized and who can’t. But more so, how many people hang on their every word? Who does Saradon think she is? In my opinion a 2nd rate, unattractive, borish actress who wasn’t even convincing as Speed Racers mom.(Thats the only movie I can remember her in.) Her “husband” has a better resume barely.
blifil sez:
“Prove she was on the list. ”
No, prove she wasn’t- and for that matter, please indicate where there is any mention of “a list” in this article, or anywhere else for that matter. Do keep in mind, the magic invisible booger that talks only to you does not count as a reliable source here.
“she left after being asked, she was not “kicked out.”
Right, and when someone punches you in the face- the front of your head merely made contact with a clenched and moving hand, you weren’t “punched in the face”.
moving along…
Terry, after apparently receiving a garbled message from the mother ship, apropos of nothing on this thread decides to blurt out:
“If you want to be brave, ask a neocon like Bush if his loyalty is with the US or Israel. You will be arrested.”
Like, no way. If, if, if you really want to be brave- at midnight go to the mirror in your bathroom, cross your fingers and touch the mirror then say “bloody Lizzie Borden” six times really fast. You will be possessed by a DEMON!!! With an AXE!!!!1!!!1!
Terry, either rework the tinfoil on your beanie, or check the batteries. You’re getting some awfully odd transmissions of late.
Anyway…
Double standards from half wits, in hollywood yet. Big Shockah, right.
See I asked you to prove something that I made up. See how that works. I come here and make stupid statements that have no basis on the article that I read then when I am called on my stupidity I ask you to prove that a made up statement of mine isn’t true. Don’t you realize how we think? It is now up to you to prove false a completely stupid made up statement thus taking the pressure off of Mzzz. Sarandon. I feel so superior to you heathens. Now leave me alone I have a Pilates class to get to.
Mr. Whiffle ball – You’re the one who claimed, nay, INSISTED (in capitals!!! – I enjoy multiple exclamation points because they make the emphaisis so emphatic!!!) the reporter was not on the list. No one else did, you pulled that one out of the air, or somewhere. What a treasure you are. Saddam was asked to leave Kuwait on many occasions and given chance after chance to pull out before an unprecedented multinational force went in to evict him. His invasion of Kuwait created the situation for the bloodshed and is responsible for that war. (This refers to the elder Bush, of course, as Saddam was never asked by Bush the younger to leave Iraq. He was asked many times by the United Nations, for one, to allow the inspectors in after kicking them out. You really need to do some homework. Prove you don’t!!!!!!)
Imagine there’s no liberals.
It’s easy if you try.
LOL…Yeah as long as you don’t watch TV, or go to the movies or public schools or college….
“You will die a peasant’s death!!”
(She was great in “Team America”)
Her skills are fading with age.
I’ll be sure and look for boyfriend Nuke LaLoosh’s next complaint about the “chill wind” of censorship blowing across America. I wonder if Annie Savoy will be standing at his side…
She had talents?

I have to disagree with those of you who want celebs to STFU.
I want them to speak .
Keep it coming.
When I said to STFU I wasn’t referring necessarily to Ms. Saranhead. I was referring to Mr. Awful. I do agree that I want the celebs to reveal their true selves and talk away. The problem is that they know (like Ms. S) that if they do they will be relegated (like Ms S) to b movie roles, oh like say…the mom in Speed Racer.
I think we have wasted enough time on this so called star! Can’t believe she is in the news again. I thought we were done with her.
After all, the reporter was just doing her job and, at the risk of sounding hysterical, kicking her out for simply asking a question is something more likely to happen in Fidel Castro’s Cuba than at a fancy brunch on the first day of Barack Obama’s America.
Not so much difference betwen Cuba and the USA now that we have CHANGE…
It’s great to read posts from those like MR BLIFIL, THIRD WORLD JOHN and TERRY on this site. Geez, now there is no need to go to HUFFPO, DAILYKOS or any of the other unhinged websites to find ignorant rants.
Good one TERRY: “If you want to be brave, ask a neocon like Bush if his loyalty is with the US or Israel. You will be arrested. Such a simple question, why are they afraid to answer?” Oh yeah, they sure did lock up alot of people over the last 8 years for speaking out against Bush and his administration.
after all the times she threatened to leave the country, and didn’t! now we’re stuck with her and her ilk for at least 4 years. “there’ll be no living with her now” (thank you captain jack sparrow.)
Yatyas–Im by no means Bush’s biggest fan but who exactly got thrown in prison for speaking out? I must have missed that…
Hey TROLL…I mean Blifil….you must really need attention to keep posting on sites that you despise. What’s the matter, doesn’t anyone want to play with you anymore on Huffpuff or moveon??
GiveMeLiberty —Its ok man…they’re welcome here. Unlike them, we welcome opposing views because we have facts and common sense to prove them wrong…
IAN…you’re absolutely right! Thanks for the reminder. I promise to be on my best behavior from now on! Hey Mr Blifil…how’s it goin’ my man??? LOL
No problem I have an allergic reaction too but Im finally on medication.
“It’s easy to be critical of Sarandon. After all, the reporter was just doing her job and, at the risk of sounding hysterical, kicking her out for simply asking a question is something more likely to happen in Fidel Castro’s Cuba than at a fancy brunch on the first day of Barack Obama’s America.”
Wait ~ I thought Susan loves the press! ~ worships at the altar of the 1st Amendment! ~ afterall, the press is on her side…. hmmm ….
The really, truly SCARY part is that this DID NOT take place in Cuba ~ and that it DID take place on “the first day of Barack Obama’s America.”
Ian:
I was being sarcastic reference TERRY’s little rant. The last sentence should have been spaced below his rant which was in quotations.
Question: What in the name of the Arts was “creative” about the tacky ball that Sarandon and her ilk put on?? The only thing they did was parade around in borrowed costumes and pretend to be intelligent (which, without a script, they are ill equipped.)
Banished to a “free speech gulag”, it seems.
Any friend of Hanoi Jane is an enemy to this country! And I won’t even go there about these two hags!
Just another Hollywierd bimbo/Ho thinking she is entitled to special treatment. She can dish it out but can’t take it in return what a weak minded bag, i wonder if she ever heard of plastic surgery for that worn out hanging face, she does have a nice set of saddle bags under her blood shot eyes. Her husband Timmy is a good match for her being the pud that he is…..
Blifil—Oh, Im sorry I thought I was being mildly disapproving to my son. Didn’t realize I was talking to a great big grownup.
And as far as Im concerned, the only ones being maternal and/or paternal are the Progressives who seem to think they know better.
But yeah, I have no issue with classical liberals however this creeping Progressivism from BOTH parties is setting off my defenses. I’ve never support fascism and I never will. NOT IN THIS COUNTRY. Yet, I truly want to be gracious to all Americans so if I offended, that was not my intent.
YatYas-My apologies I had misunderread you,
Mr. Bifocal – You went on a tirade about the reporter not being invited, then admitted you hadn’t properly read the article, and now adopt the tone of a victor of some sort. The sniffing indignation of the left in the face of facts that prove them wrong is a thing of wonder to behold. Simply out, this rather insignifant event is an amusing snapshot of the intolerance of the left. Remember your condemnation of this site, as all big things spring from something small.
Yikes:! Should be – “Simply put, this rather insignificant…”
Why would anyone even bother asking that vapid twit a question? It’s not like you’d get a coherent answer so I can only conclude it would be for sheer entertainment value.
Here it is, for those who did not hear the first time. There are just over 4,000 Gold Star Mothers from the War on Terror. S. Sarandon only spoke to one and closed her ears to the rest of us. Cindy Sheehan and Ms. Sarandon don’t speak for the proud mothers of son’s who died defending this nation. Unlike Ms. Sheehan, we had a close relationship with our sons. We properly marked their graves and honored their service to America. Ms. Sarandon agreed to play Ms. Sheehan on some “possible” B rated movie. She deserves the same respect as Oprah who has ignored and refused any Gold Star parents time on her show that don’t agree with her point of view. Sarandon is a “D” rated actress who deserves little or no respect for her shallow views and limited acting ability. It’s too bad that the cameras and air time are available to these nut cases and not available to those of us who gave our sons and daughters to America.

This is only a guess, but the reporter probably looked like papperazzi, or pepperoni, or whatever you call them annoying little creeps who invade another person’s privacy to snap a picture. And of course, a movie star hounded by those little shutter bugs probably becomes irritated rather quickly when a nerd with a camera starts trying to buddy up to her, asking questions about Obama, and then asking questions like, are you going to do anymore of those communist movies? Maybe the so called reporter doesn’t understand the unwritten rules, you don’t approach the star unless you get permission. I’ve been thrown off the set for joking with Andy Garcia, so I know, I know.
Is any of this a surprise considering this country’s, no the world’s, love affair with everything Hollywood? The one who “acts” the best wins!! Sure Sarah had gaffs (not the kind like Biden), more out being nervous, but that made her all the more human. But she was doing the job in Alaska. One of the only States that is winning the economic challenge. It doesn’t surprise me then that Sarandon would think that Edwards was so real. Until Obama came along he was the best actor. He had the “audacity” to stand for morality while he was cheating on his wife. And plenty of people bought it. Soon many more people will feel that betrayel they felt with Edwards all over again. Unfortunately they didn’t learn the first time around.
You all are giving Ms. Sarandon too much credit. If you’re tired of the Hollywood Left, quit giving them so much of your time.
Find some worthy cause.
>>”You get a sense that kids are rethinking their priorities”
Dear Mr. Obama,
Kids don’t have priorities because they change from day to day. Especially MTV kids. Real priorities come about eight years later.
Ask yourself this, “Who has a better take on priorities? Your kids or Michelle and you?”
Hopefully Barack has outgrown the ‘kids’ stage and will become a mentor and not a mimicker.
Enuf said.
Don’t forget that the “man” with whom she insists on living in sin finished the Bush Years on Election Day pretty much the same way that he and his nutjob “partner” started it: by claiming that he was not on the voting roll at his voting precinct because of some vast conspiracy, and that this must surely be happening all over the country to other people of his type. These nuts have to be marginalized for the rest of their natural lives by the sane people on the planet, and then let the God that they refuse to believe in have His way with them for their lifestyles. After eight years of these selfish condescending sublife forms, it;s time to move on!
She’ll shut up when her boyfriend leaves her soon as she gets just a tad older and loses what’s left of her questionable looks. Absolutely guaranteed that he will, just mark your calendar for three years from today. He will be gone and then she will devote all her energies to smearing and trying to destroy him instead of Republicans. Anyway, no matter who you are, imagine the sheer cosmic punishment of having to actually spend time or live with this woman?!? Thank your lucky stars that you only have to put up with her at times like this!
If she didn’t want to talk to the press, why did she go out of her way to attend a luncheon with the press?
It’s not like the choice at the last minute was McDonald’s or the luncheon.
What a hag.
The reporterette MUST have been a conservative though. Notice how she left without arguing when asked to? If she’d been a liberal, asked to leave, she’d have to have been carried out kicking and screaming the whole way–which is the left’s normal behavior when asked to leave from where they aren’t wanted.
Not only is she stupid, but she has the audacity to ask people to leave a public event. Someone needs an ass whoopin’!!
Mr Blifil–Firstly, brush up on what fascism is first.
Secondly, I took a stand against Bush’s right wing progressivism as well. Don’t assume just because I love and respect our Constitution and our Founders intentions that I supported a confused lightweight like him…
Mr. B and Math Gay both sound like my teenage children when they’ve lost the argument. You both know that your arguments aren’t sound and even Mr. B acknowledges that he didn’t read the article correctly. It’s the old never mind the substance, it’s the intention that counts meme. Boys (and I mean that literally) go play with your liberal friends at the local gay bar so the rest of us can “move on”.org.
Really—I for one don’t HATE the other side. I agree there is plenty of stupidity on both sides. But we can’t be asked to suffer a moron like Sarandon or her ilk lightly.
I have the utmost respect for classical liberals. However, Im not sure there are many left. Progressivism is the new liberalism or liberalism is the old progressivism and in my mind THATS what is to be resisted. Their tactics are intimidation, coercion and thwarting the will of the people through litigation. I will not stand by and watch the Constitution and the wisdom of the Founders be relegated to obscurity by a vocal and tenacious minority. From either side of the aisle. I would just ask all those who truly love this country to stand with me.
Math Guy had a reasonable point….
“If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy.”-Thomas Jefferson
It is better to be silent and thought an idiot than to open one’s mouth and be Susan Sarandon.
Really? – you make some interesting observations, however the process itself has become drastically one sided. Look at the way the press and many left wing activists demonized President Bush for years.
Dan Rather even got himself fired because he was more or less making up stories about Bush’s National Gaurd Service and trying to release them just in time to affect the upcoming election. Obviously the mainstream media has a lot to answer for here.
Now compare and contrast that with all of the stories of corruption and dubious political affiliations that were just now hearing about Obama, the truth is the Press never went after him like they do with any republican candidate, in fact they even went after a decidely liberal Hillary Clinton with a vengence because they wanted an Obama Presidency. These are the folks that are supposed to be impartial, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Now, I’m not exactly enamoured with the way the Republican party has behaved lately, it would seem as if they have almost completely lost their way. They seem to be more interested in favorable clippings from a left wing press and taking care of various special interest groups than they do about getting any real progress made on important issues like illegal immigration.
But while your call for “civility’ is noble, the truth is politics has always been a contact sport all the way back to our forefathers. In fact back in 1804 the Vice President Aaron Burr actually gunned down the former Secretary of the Treasury Alexandar Hamilton. You want to talk about spirited debate!
Now as much as I’d love to have a meaningful debate with my political opposition, sadly in order for that to occur both sides have to observe some basic ground rules:
1. No Personal Attacks
2. Stick to the topic at hand, no wild tangents
3. Acknowledge when someone else makes a point, don’t simply obfuscate and try to change the subject when the facts don’t support your opinion.
Sadly however I have yet to find anyone on the left that can adhere to any of the above common sense guidelines, much less all three at the same time. Truth be told if I had a dime for every time someone from the left who disagreed with my opinion called me some really nasty name or engaged in some odious personal attack instead of actually discussing the issue at hand I’d be a very, very rich man indeed.
So, while I’m all for raising the level of discourse, that I’m afraid is a two way street, and the other side seems to have no interest in working toward that goal.
And yes, for the record, I don’t think Obama is some sort of demon, etc. I do thing he is a horribly inexperienced single term junior senator with very questionable affiliations who is totally unprepared for the task at hand. I also believe that his entire philosphy, that government is the answer to our problems, is dead wrong. Government doesn’t fix problems, it never has, it only makes things worse. But do I think of him as a demon? No. Would I ever say the absolutely horrible things about him that most of our political opposition said routinely about Bush for the last 8 years, no.
So, while I’m all for raising the level of discourse, sadly that ball isn’t in my court at the moment.
Susan was in a couple good movies, supporting better actors.
I was a bartender and a manager at a bar for many years, and I’ve never “asked” someone to leave when I didn’t really mean “walk or be thrown”. Asking them to leave is still getting kicked out. If you are made to leave when you didn’t want to do so, you’ve been kicked out.
