Honduras Nips Dictatorship in the Bud
by Sean FairburnDemocracy is built of fundamental principles that allow for growth and change to occur that is beneficial for the good of all the people: the right to vote for our leaders. Honduras is the latest battlefield where democracy quickly and prayerfully used Rule of Law to defeat a heavy-handed attack by would-be Dictator Mel Manuel “Mel” Zelaya. Former left-wing president, Manuel “Mel” Zelaya, was voted into office by the slimmest of margins (1%) and with a new vote coming up he had to move quickly to maintain power. Hugo Chavez provided him with the plan and the money needed to facilitate democratic collapse and implement a democratic transition to Communism by paying people to vote his way.
Zelaya would call for a vote known as the 4th Box, to change the constitution, eliminate term limits and give him greater power over the government. Deemed unconstitutional and unlawful by Congress and the Supreme Court, Zelaya ordered the ballots to be printed anyway, forcing the issue. Honduran printers refused to print the illegal ballots so Chavez offered printers in Venezuela, and for no extra charge the printers printed a “Yes” vote right in the box marked “Yes.” Zelaya then ordered Military General Romeo Vasquez to distribute the additional ballots to all the polling places. General Vasquez refused the order and was fired by Zelaya. Congress responded by saying he couldn’t be fired for following the law and refusing to obey an unlawful order. General Vasquez was promptly reinstated and the Supreme Court issued an arrest warrant for Zelaya for violating constitutional law. A Supreme Court judge accompanied the military in arresting Zelaya at his home so that his paid supporters could not start a riot. Zelaya was removed to prevent bloodshed and given the choice of what country to go to. He chose Costa Rica.
Democracy defended, Dictatorship defeated… Not so fast. As with any bad sportsman, Zelaya would not go quietly and sought ways to regain power though a misinformation campaign (again funded by Chavez) saying there was a military overthrow while also paying people to create protests denouncing the government, the Church, and the military. Paid Zelayan supporters, wearing red, took to the streets and were ordered to riot and destroy businesses, stores and fast-food companies in the capitol, all with cameras rolling. Peaceful pro-government supporters, wearing blue and white, also held very large rallies all over the country in support of government action and the military, but they received very little media attention. They prayed together, thanking God for their country and the lack of bloodshed.
Zelaya, the news reports said, tried to get back into Honduras by landing his plane in the capitol city airport, Tegucigalpa, where his paid supporters and the media were waiting to rush the gates and take back their leader. He was not allowed to land there. However, were he really interested in landing, there were three other airports he could have used but there would have been no media and supporters there and the effort would be lost.
A new election will be held in the fall where democracy will be exercised once again. Currently, President Roberto Micheletti is the Constitutional President of the Republic having been appointed by Congress. Zelaya issued an ultimatum this Monday stating that if he is not reinstated into power by the end of this week, then, “…there are other forms of actions we are already organizing for my return to the country at whatever cost.”
Elvin Santos was the former Vice President, but he resigned well before any of this took place. He would have seceded Zelaya in office. Since they never replaced the Vice President, Micheletti was appointed. In the meantime Honduras is willing to stand alone against any sanctions placed upon her by Chavez, the US, or any other nation siding with Mel Zelaya.
Hondurans (over 90%) are very proud of the stance their country took to preserve democracy and thwart attempts by Castro and Chavez to infect Central American nations with Communism, and we should be too.
The Honduran people have told me again and again that what they want from the people of the United States is for us to pray for freedom and democracy … and for Honduras.
I wonder if the US, faced with such a challenge, would rise up and defend our Constitution with the same fervor as Honduras from any attempt to change it into something else?
May God bless Honduras and all nations that follow her brave example of steadfast loyalty to Truth, Democracy and the Rule of Law.

No expert on Honduras. But if Chavez is for Zelaya then only idiots would think it is best for Hondurans.
Let's see the….US Parliament is giving Mel Zelaya some positive PR? Yep. Idiots.
Litmus test works again.
And Barack Obama supported this dictator's return.
I wonder if Obama with his overweening pride would go silently into the night should he lose in three and a half years?
This is a great story… how come it's getting no play in the MSM?
I doubt this is likely to happen but wouldn't it be great if our Congress decided that Obama had flouted the constitution enough to remove him from office?
Hoping against HOPE for some CHANGE, BEFORE 3 1/2 yrs are up. We appear to have our own little 'Zelaya' in the making with all the 'czar' appointments Obama has been making, and I wouldn't look for him to depart peacefully and quietly. I would hate to be his teleprompter when he does have to leave, and he's looking for something to take out his spite on……..
"Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves." ~~D.H. Lawrence, Classical American Literature, 1922
I just have to hope Zelaya doesn't win.Libs always criticized Reagan and the Contras. I can just Obama having Panetta send in teams to help him rig the election for Zelaya or overthrow the military. How ironic, no?
I just have to hope Zelaya doesn't win.Libs always criticized Reagan and the Contras. I can just see Obama having Panetta send in teams to help him rig the election for Zelaya or overthrow the military. How ironic, no?
I can understand Obama interpreting this issue wrong in the hours or days immediately after it broke. But now after weeks have gone by and now that many journalists on the ground there have thoroughly unwrapped the layers of this onion for all to see. For him to remain silent or continue to back Zelaya is simply ludicrous. Even Secretary of State Clinton has become virtually non-existent on this issue. And don't even think about getting an opinion on this from Joe Biden.
What is wrong with our leaders? Is Obama so above reproach that he can't change his position and just admit that without all the facts early on he gacked this one? I can't stand this policy of the liberal press ignoring his failings and thus refusing to question or call him out when he is clearly wrong.
To paraphase a famous first lady, "For the first time in my adult life, I am really ANGRY at my country." Both Obama and Hillary Clinton should be beyond embarrassed about their snafu on Hondruas. Since the MSM do not care any more about democracy these two are given, once again, a free pass in the media.
What is truly scary, for all democracy-loving people, is that our president and his state department are either one of two types of entities…they are either incompetent and willing to fall for a PR plan penned by Hugo Chavez OR they actually want to see a dictator in Hondruas! There is no other conclusion a reasonable person can make. Based on the generally accepted facts of this case, they are either stupid or evil. Often, citizens employ their own biases, 20/20 hindsights, and opnions to determine that their leaders are either stupid or evil– it is usually a matter of argument and opinion. You can say that about their handling of the economy, the Iran "election", Palestine, etc. Not in this case. The facts are clear and Obama has to pick one or the other; let's hope for stupid.
Because "liberal" is too kind a word to describe the media. I used to think that liberals simply wanted a different kind of liberty and freedom than typical conservatives. Now, it is clear that the media (in the general sense, are shooting clearly for a new communism and dictatorship). Of course, no dictator has ever needed or wanted a free press. It makes no sense, but what else could it be?
And after the rigged election, worst former President Carter will declare the whole thing a full, fair and marvelous demonstration of democracy in action.
Obama does not want any foreign distractions on his watch, I believe it is one of the main reasons for his apology tour, right off the bat too quell any attacks on the U.S. If Obama has to order any attacks on foreign soil, it will cause him to lose his far left base, and he can not afford that, as he is losing his moderate base already.
. . . . and yet another fact upon which we agree. I know the lib historians with their bogus periodic lists want desperately to put W. in that slot, and some will always run with Millard Fillmore. But, when it comes right down to worst ever, "Jimmah" wins and it's not even close. He even gets bonus points for being a horse's butt after leaving office, and Roslyn is not far behind.
I think Carter violated the Logan Act (prohibiting diplomacy by private citizens) when he lobbied the members of the U.N. security council against our resolution prior to Gulf War I. The guy is a total cheezer.
You seem to have your terms confused. He was putting something up for a VOTE. Explain how voting for something is undemocratic. You neocons really like to twist things.
How is putting something up for a vote being a dictator?
Stafford, you liberals don't recognize raw power until someone bends you over.
Do you like it?
Hyp – are you kidding? . . . the second coming of Abe Lincoln? Do you remember the 1970 movie "Little Big Man"? The actor Richard Mulligan played George Armstrong Custer as a caricature who wouldn't execute Dustin Hoffman's character (Jack Crab) because it "wasn't worth a reversal of a Custer decision." He kept repeating that line until he was wiped out by the Sioux due to his bad decisions. Obama reminds of that caricature.
Bullseye
Obama is doing EXACTLY what the monied interests, that contributed so heavily to his campaign and are pulling his strings, want him to do. And even worse, he will do those things because he believes in them himself so strongly that he has come to think they are his own ideas.
"Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves." ~~D.H. Lawrence, Classical American Literature, 1922
congress is already trying to distroy our constatution with hate speech law.
MSM???? hummm… becasue it does not fit in there agenda!!!
ChrisD – sounds like you have some latent homosexual issues.
To Stafford–You wouldn't know a neocon from a neologism. What Zelaya did is perfectly fine under the American constitution. Honduras has its own constitution, which specifically says that a president cannot in any way suggest a change to their constitution if that change would provide for a longer or different term of office. Zelaya did just that. If he wanted to be a Chavez type president for life, he had to leave office, then make his proposal, and wait for it to be put into the constitution. By doing it while he was in office, Zelaya violated the provision that was designed to prevent the kind of thing Chavez did in Venezuela.
He didn't put it up for a vote. He put it up for a blatantly rigged vote.
and for no extra charge the printers printed a “Yes” vote right in the box marked “Yes.”
And before anybody says something smartass about "hanging chads", I am going to ask them — not tell them — politely ask them to please shut the f_ck up.
Obama is a puppet for the same elitists as Bush was.
Zelaya would call for a vote known as the 4th Box, to change the constitution, eliminate term limits and give him greater power over the government.
Can you see that he wanted to change the constitution to benefit him and his power???
Obama is a puppet for the same elitists as Bush was. You guys are chasing shadows on the wall – the enemy are the globalists bankers.
"Deemed unconstitutional and unlawful by Congress and the Supreme Court, Zelaya ordered the ballots to be printed anyway, forcing the issue. Honduran printers refused to print the illegal ballots so Chavez offered printers in Venezuela, and for no extra charge the printers printed a “Yes” vote right in the box marked “Yes.” "
Does this clear it up for you?
Darling, you don't know a thing about me.
I can tell you that you don't know anything about power and I am wondering why that is…natural enough.
The point would be if Stafford liked it. We are all being bent over by this administration. MOST of us do not want or like it. That is called rape. If you don't know the difference…
Using logic and law is against the rules when replying to trolls. Please refrain, if you must, just walk under the bridge and Bitch Slap'em. Thanking you in advance for your cooperation. ;{)
Jed-important point. Stafford below thinks it was a "healthy vote" in Hondurus. How would a vote go over for a third term for Obama. Almost came to that with Roosevelt.
I know what a power grab is-like the one we are getting from Obama.
We women are educated about rape-so spare me the idiocy.

Yep, the lunatics are on the grass today.
There's the trooth! Its all a setup! They're probably following you here on this site!
I won't be a bit surprised if Obama gets reelected – time will tell – but let's assume that he does pull it off in 2012. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if BO and his Chicago henchmen don't concoct some kind of crisis that leads the lemmings…er…media to call for a constitutional convention to waive term limits for the prez…
JM
Perhaps Obama can send ACORN "volunteers" to Honduras. ACORN did a swell job of stealing the election in Minnesota. When (not if) the time comes for Americans to stand up against the coming dictatorship, I hope we have the same resolve as the Hondurans.
Stafford, quit opening your mouth (or tapping your keyboard) and proving you're an idiot.
What part of RIGGED VOTE by Zelaya do you not get? Or do you actually support such actions?
I will take Capitalist Bankers over Marxist/Socialist Democrats, any day.
Try reading "The Creature from Jekyll Island." US and UK bankers BANKROLLED the Bolsheviks. Like I say, you guys are chasing shadows on the wall – they sure have you confused.
Operative phrase here, Jake, is shut the buck up.
He would support the action if it benefited OBAMA……
You summed up Jimmy perfectly Jed. I never have understood how anyone could defend "The Peanut Farmer" or think that he was a good President in any way. I was just a newly minted teenager when Carter was elected, so I didn't fully understand at that time what he was doing to the country, but I do remember how my parents suffered under his stupidity.
Almost 30 yrs after his Presidency people still think he was an idiot and a horrible President, yet 6 months after GWB's tour of duty ended the tide is turning ever so slightly in his favor. History will be kind to "W". Carters has already been written and it ain't lookin' good………..
My response was not to you. It was to Stafford and His "latent Homosexual issues" comment. Sorry for the confusion.
I have read the book, and I still stand by my statement above.
Maybe not but I pray our military would.
I got it afterwards. Tx.
I guess you missed the part about the ballots being rigged with already filled-in "Yes" check boxes.
As far as I'm concerned, he already has flouted the constitution since he has yet to prove that he's a natural born American. Congress doesn't give a shite!
On top of the rigged ballots, the Honduran Constitution states that the President, and former Presidents, cannot even lobby for increased term limits, much less make an initiative for them. To do so is outlined as treason. This and the rest of the term limits clause are the only part of their constitution that's explicitly listed as unamendable.
All put in place to stop power grabs like this and Chavez's in Venezuela.
maybe we could get Jimmy Carter to sit down with Zelaya
All right. I'll play. It's democratic, but if the majority voted to reinstate slavery would that be OK with you? So it's real simple. Until they change their constitution, what he did was illegal and disqualified him from further service in office. Constitutions are the basic law of any land, and if the people want to change them, they can. But not by ignoring the constitution that exists at the time. You don't like it, then join ACORN, take your fellow community organizers with you, and take a run down to Honduras to get a democratic vote to change the constitution.
What shocks you and seems like an obvious stipulation to you has nothing to do with what Honduran law and their constitution say. A sitting president wouldn't benefit by a change in term limits? Tell that to president for life Hugo Chavez.
Let Us Hope and Pray that The Other 50% or so of our fellow Americans will Snap out of their Raptured Glaze and have the same gumption as the Hondurans come 2010 and 2012.
I'm betting we'll see an UNPRECEDENTED amount of fraud. Look at all the extra monies ACORN/COI is getting now. And the Black Panthers are free to intimidate voters at the polls, apparently. We are going to have problems unless he is defeated by an unmistakeable margin.
The President doesn't tend to stomp all over the Constitution. The Congress and Senate are a different matter, though.
I'll be happy to "Sioux" him.
You can't READ too well, can you, Stafford?
The. Ballots. Already. Had. "YES" Printed. On. Them. For. Zelaya.
Do you understand???
You liberals truly are both evil AND stupid.
I will personally enjoy grabbing liberals by the nose rings and waterboarding them zealously if we have to fight against fraudulent election results.
How insensitive, DTOM!
We'll be seeing you in Political Correctness training if you don't get your mind right.
Yeah, voters would never notice that, right? This part of the story is absurd.
It's time the US got over its narcissism over the loss (squandering) of Pax Americana.
Tiny Latin-American countries are perfectly capable of developing democracies
without the interference of Ugly Americans and Soviets. In fact we should trade with them,
just like Cuba. But don't ask narcissistic "oligarchs-in-exile".
Honduras is a more democratic republic than we are
They did not put up with tyranny like we did
/spit
We need to take careful notes and do the same here !
No wonder Obama supports the guy.
Lord, Stafford, you are DENSE.
The voters don't get to SEE the ballots; the ballots are placed INTO THE BALLOT BOXES before or after the vote and then counted along with the legitimate ballots.
It's like what Al Franken did; you know- like when there were more ballots cast than actual voters registered in certain precincts?
You definitely do not belong to the even vaguely conservative side of things.
There was NO coup! Zelaya behaved illegally, and the country's Supreme Court ordered the military to remove Zelaya. As per the Honduran constitution, Micheletti, was appointed interim president as the person next in line. This is Constitutional Democracy in action combating illegal behavior by a sitting President.
Millions of Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, Bolivians, Ecuadorians, etc. wish we could have done what Hondurans are doing before the Marxist thugs working for Castro and Chavez enslaved our countries like Zelaya is trying to enslave Honduras.
Zelaya was implementing in Honduras the “democratic” scheme devised by Castro and implemented by Chavez and the rest of the Marxist thugs to gain absolute power. Obama seems to be implementing the same “democratic” scheme in the U.S.
Wiser than other Latin Americans, Hondurans have laws that defend them from the fraudulent scheme devised by Castro to impose Marxism with “democratic” elections and referendums. Hondurans have seen this scheme unfold in the countries being destroyed by the Marxist thugs controlled by Castro/Chavez. They don’t want the tragedy of those countries repeated in Honduras. They would rather be isolated for a few years than enslaved for more than 50 like the Cubans!
Castro’s scheme, implemented by Chavez, Morales, Correa, Zelaya, etc. works along these lines:
1.Select a wannabe dictator — a “charismatic” and depraved megalomaniac who is ready to sell out his country (like Chavez, Morales, Correa, Zelaya). Help him run for president of the country.
2.Invest millions in a “professional” campaign demonizing the opposition and promising CHANGE to help the poor, end corruption, improve schools… whatever people want to hear.
(to be continued)
continuation…
3.Commit as much fraud as possible to make sure the wannabe dictator wins.
4.Have “protectors of human rights” like Insulza (OAS) — who have really been trampling on human rights by promoting communism for years — declare that the elections were “legal and transparent.”
5.Make sure that, once in power, the wannabe dictator takes over the Legislative and Judicial branches of power; destroys the business community, the economy and the country’s institutions; intimidates and controls the media; and demonizes, intimidates and even kills anyone trying to defend the country.
6.Have a referendum to approve a new constitution. Representatives of the people are supposed to write that constitution. In reality, people don’t even know what’s in the new constitution, which is written by Spaniards working for Castro/Chavez before the wannabe dictator even “runs” for office.
(to be continued)
continuation…
7.Have Insulza (OAS) and others who pretend to “protect human rights” declare that the referendum is perfectly “legal and transparent.” Carter also does this dirty job.
The goal of the new constitution is to help the wannabe dictator become a full-blown dictator for life (like Castro in Cuba), prevent people from defending themselves, and use the country to help drug cartels, Islamic terrorists, etc. to destroy the U.S. And all of it under the cloak of “democracy”!
Hondurans were able to save themselves from the clutches of Chavez because Zelaya had not yet been able to take control of the Legislative and Judicial branches of power.
Congratulations, Hondurans! Many of us wish we could have done what you are doing before the Marxist thugs working for Castro and Chavez enslaved our countries.
We hope Hondurans can defend themselves from Chavez/Zelaya/Obama now working under the sheep's clothing of Oscar Arias.
Chris, Stafford's one claim to fame, and "why we should pay attention to what he says", is that he is a foundation member of BOHICA.
Stafford I'm Hispanic I have been following events in Honduras thru Spanish meida…Are you aware?
1) Several computers containing the results of the referendum Zelaya wanted to conduct are seized at the Presidential Palace. NOTE this was for an election that had NOT taken place yet. The National Directors of Criminal Investigation seized various computers from the Presidential Palace that had recorded the supposed results of the referendum to reform the constitution that the deposed leader, Manuel Zelaya, was planning to conduct on June 28, the day he was removed from office.
continued…
2) As a result an official investigation is now dealing with the possible crime of fraud and falsification of documents due to the fact that some of the certified voting results had been filled with the personal information of individuals that supposedly participated in the failed referendum that did not take place. One of the district attorneys that participated in the operation that took place this Friday showed reporters an official voting result from the Technical Institute Luis Bogran, of Tegucigalpa, in which the specific number of people that participated in table 345, where there were 550 ballots, 450 of which were votes in favor of Zelaya's proposal and 30 were against, in addition to 20 blank ballots and 30 ballots, which were nullified.
Are you still going to insist that a President that engages in such activity is entitled to remain in office?
Chavez has already sent his paid turbas (ACORN-type "volunteers"), mainly Nicaraguans, to act as "Zelaya supporters" and create chaos and violence in Hondurans and manipulate the internacional community. The 19-year-old Zelaya "supporter" who was killed was probably shot not by soldiers but by Chavez's people. The soldiers had only rubber bullets, and not the kind of bullet that killed the young man.
Chavez/Zelaya staged the propaganda show where the young man was killed. Chavez/Zelaya’s turbas incited “supporters” to violence. And Chavez’s Telesur and “media” (propaganda) people where there to stage and broadcast the propaganda.
Most of Zelaya “supporters” were paid poor people. Each “supporter” on a motorcycle was paid 300 lempiras (US$15.84) a day plus gas. Taxi drivers were paid 3,000 lempiras (US$158.40) a day to drive “supporters.” Farmers acting as “supporters” are being paid 250 lempiras (US$13.20) a day.
http://www.hacer.org/report/2009/07/honduras-prot...
It's against their CONSTITUTION bonehead. He should step aside, call fo a Constitutiuonal Convention, amend said Constitution the RUN AGAIN FOR the presidency. He's shortcutting the process, kinda like your hero Barry Hussein.
All well and good, but why be cutesy about it? They're certainly not so nice to us.
This isn't a free press. They have willingly enslaved themselves to the Leftist cause; the Democrats didn't even have to ask them if they'd mind putting the chains on.
Not a chance. They're all too f__king busy watching "American Idol". And by "American Idol" I mean the hagiographies on MSNBC.
In case you missed the article,
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/ggraham/2009/07...
this is what the 'buck up' reference is about.
Heck Cris, FDR didn't have to change anything. He actually won a 4th term, then died fairly soon after. Given the depression, he almost lost, but nobody wanted to change horses during the war. I am probably a broken record on the subject, but I cannot recommend highly enough "The Forgotten Man" by Amity Shlaes if you haven't read it. It is a great book about Roosevelt, socialism and the great depression. There is plenty to make it the mother of all cautionary tales when it comes to Obamanomics. Now since Obama is nothing if not politically savvy, look for him to start a war if it looks like he is going to lose the election (I guess I'm not being very charitable about his motives am I?)
Nothing like a military coup in a banana republic to excite the fantasies of the reactionaries in this country. It fills the mind with visions of tanks rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue to take back the White House from the candidate that duped the electorate and kicked right wing booty back to Hooterville. Everybody knows that a black man born in this country could never master a campaign to defeat the white man's party of privilege. He must be some kind of space alien, or a servant of the devil.
Democrats never met a dictator they didn't love.
Disturbing, isn't it, how people who call themselves Democrats have such contempt for democracy?
We should also remember that our U.S Constitution was amended in 1951 limiting a president to two terms as a result of Roosevelt. Obama could say he wants the constitution amended, but it would still require two thirds of both houses just to introduce the amendment which would then have to be ratified either by 75% of both houses of Congress or by a convention of state legislatures, also by 75%. In other words, darned hard to accomplish
"Tiny Latin-American countries are perfectly capable of developing democracies without the interference of Ugly Americans and Soviets."
Just as Honduras is doing. Obama seems to be opposed to it.
Or do you think "democracy" means "whatever leftists do"?
You're right, in only your very first 5 words. This was nothing like a military coup.
You leftists look really silly trying to revise history even as it happens.
God bless FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY…. two things that have fallen by the waste side of this country since the MESSIAH has been in POWER!
and if it was up to OBAMA… the dictator would still be in power
Thank you for that interpretation. But if like you say that is legal to do in this country, would doing so be undemocratic here? You guys are using "undemocratic" and "unconstitutional" interchangably.
Actually, I'd be shocked if a sitting President could benefit by a change in term limits – that would seem like an obvious stipulation to have.
The problem in Honduras has to be with the power the president has by being the head of the military branches all over the country. Any atempt to remove the president of Honduras would obviously have to be with the support of the army, since the president could resist any atempt to be prosecuted by using the army and closing the congress and the supreme court.
So, the action at Honduras had to be really fast, and it was fast. If the president of Honduras had been allowed to make his ilegal referundum (Honduras constitution says that any referundum has to be managed by the electoral branch of the state and not by the president), he would have use this referendum a an excuse to break more laws.
On the other hand, any action to remove a president by using the army is considered a coup. This concept is the one that has made the U.S. supporting the ousted president of Honduras (Zelaya). Every president all over the world is supporting Zelaya because if this happens to him, what could prevent this for happening to any other president in the world?, specially south and central America. Hence, the presidents are really supporting their presidency and not Zelaya, but by doing so they are supporting a corrupt president.
The U.S. is trying to avoid any heavy commentary in this subject by limiting the opinion or support of the U.S. to the current Honduras/Zelaya problem because there is a great chance everything will end up in a civilian war at Honduras. If the U.S. interferes right now, things will get really mess up over there. It is wise to merely watch the movie until the moment is adequate to strike (if needed).
Great discussion all, I Spent last week in Honduras on a fact finding mission and to help a buddy working as a Correspondent for PJTV.com Chris Burgard. you can view one of the interviews at:
http://www.pjtv.com/video/Specials/PJTV_REPORTS_F...
We met with Missionary Bobby Gibson of http://www.hhmmission.org/journal2008.htm he needs some help with the orphanage he runs mostly Young kids clothes.
We were accompanied by fellow US Marine Hunter Smith http://hondurasabandoned.blogspot.com/
Spoke to Congressmen, Police, Military, Soccer Mom, Taxi Drivers, and Businessmen to get behind what is really going on. Taxi Cab drivers confirmed getting paid as much as 2,000 in local currency to bring others to zelayan rallies. and officials are going door to door offering to pay people to Vote early and handing them ballots.
once they vote the way they are told they are paid well.
So what is the price of a Vote???
We do it with millions in advertising and public appearances shaking hands and Kissing Babies, but how much would it cost to put $100.00 in the hands of enough voters to insure a small or Large margin of Victory.
Not as much as you might think especially when there is an endless supply of Cash.
Honduras Needs our Prayers for their nation Right Now more than ever. This Inconvienient political situation is greatly affecting smooth Traffic of drugs by land and air. There is a Major Spiritual Battle going on.
Maybe your right Brother maybe your not. We'll All find out soon enough when Push comes to Shove. In the meanwhile Here's to The Hoping and The Praying.
Jed–One small correction. The states always have the final say in any amendment to the Constitution. Congress can't ratify an amendment, it can only pass a proposed amendment on to the states. The legislatures of three-quarters of the states must pass the amendment, or a constitutional convention must be called in which three-quarters of the states pass the amendment. The second method has never been tried since the original constitutional convention. The danger in the second method is that once a convention has been called, everything is up for grabs (that's how the Articles of Confederation were tossed out and replaced by our current Constitution). In the first method, only the amendment is the issue, not the whole Constitution. If Obama ever discovers the second method, we're all in trouble.
President Obama tipped his hand on what he thinks of the Supreme Court in this Country and in Honduras. What Honduras did was done legal and under the law. Zelaya was not able to control the courts.
Let us pray that Obama will not be able to get control over our courts!
I know, I saw it. But I don't want to be cutesy about it. If they want to be so crude as to fire off F-bombs while I'm downrange, I can only remain polite so long.
US and UK bankers BANKROLLED the Bolsheviks.
I think the word we're looking for here is "pinko".
He, he, he. Got some Coyote in ya, doncha? Bloody Pet Rock's!
Capitalist extremists on the Right literally think it's alright to overthrow a democratically elected government. They always have. Look at Chile, Iran, Guatemala, Haiti. Capitalism first, democracy second. Capitalism brought to you by guns and bayonets. The same way the Russians and Chinese enforced communism. You're just like them.
Hilary WTF are you talking about?
"Capitalists extemists on the Right"? You got a couple of screws loose or what?
And for Shannon, I think OB will have to 'change' the courts as well, how else is the new medical system going to work if lawsuites are allowed? It won't be alllowed, you watch. Substandard care with no one allowed to sue for medical damages.
A&E – correct, an important catch. Without a copy of the Constitution in front of me, I was kind of going from memory and should have stated 75% of state legislators, not Congress. Still, my point was that it is not all that easy to get a proposed amendment passed, which is a good thing and was made difficult by the framers on purpose. I am, of course, in full agreement that Obama, as the closest thing we have to an American Chavez, would be totally willing to trash the constitution if he felt it helped him to bring about his vision of "change."
Barry and his brainless leftist myrmidons seem overly concerned about the removal of a corrupt dictator in Honduras, hmmm… why?
Not undemocratic but maybe unconstituional. Why did Presendent Zelaya continue with a referendom the Supreme Court of Honduras, the Congress of Honduras, and the Electorial Tribunal of Honduras said was unconstitutional. If the President no longer supports the Constitution he swore to defend is he still President?
So, you have a problem with the PROCESS. Why don't you have a problem with the PROCESS in the US? We need hand-counted paper ballots in the US. You don't see your vote when you vote electronically.
Speaks volumes about the Obama administration. Either they're woefully misinformed dolts, useful idiots, or ideologically aligned with Chavez and Zelaya. There is no other explanation to their inept handling of the situation.
I'd say a combination of the three and since President Obama himself comes from 17 years of marxist inspired liberation theology indoctrination it's only natural for him to be on the side of Hugo Chavez.
"You seem to have your terms confused. He was putting something up for a VOTE. Explain how voting for something is undemocratic. You neocons really like to twist things."
Have you read their Constitution?
Ironically Zelaya essentially removed himself from power.
wrong flag
^ Yep, that's the Salvadorian flag.
Who's the fucking idiot who did that?

…and everywhere that Charlie went, AntonioSosa had already been there! Great work Antonio! Slowly and surely the truth of the rape of Honduras by Chavez and Mrs. Clinton -Obama is getting out to the world. There was NO military coup (did you get a load of Rixi spouting her crap today?) Those of us who live in Honduras KNOW the truth and support the peace and democracy of the de facto Micheletti transitional government.! God Bless the true patriots in Honduras… Charlie from "La sultanta de occidente"
NO NO NO NO NO What Zelaya did was NOT fine under the US Constitution. After two terms if Bush had insisted on running again and ordered the army to set up an election, would that be fine? And if he won it (with the help of ACORN-like fraud & already-filled-in-ballots crafted by Hugo Chavez) would you call that legitimate just because "the people voted for him?"
Excellent, excellent post.
Que Dios bendiga a los hondurenos.
And on what side will the US be when the time, as you say, comes to "strike?" On the side of freedom or of tyranny?
If the Obama administration had come out in favor of the constitution, in favor of the Hondurans solving their own problems, and against the Chavez -OAS interference, civil war could have been avoided. That is my opinion.
Since when does the OAS have any call to rebuke a country for not being 'democratic' anyway? The same OAS that has welcomed Cuba back with open arms has no business giving an opinion on freedom , law, or democracy.
Magical realism.
From your lips to God's Ear.
I hate electronic voting systems, personally. But I also DO receive a printout of my votes from the machine when I complete the voting and so I DO "see" my vote.
The real part of the process I find repugnant lately is the democrat penchant for having close outcomes decided in court. Then various methods of counting are employed until the Democrat candidate is determined to be the winner. This takes the election away from the people and gives it to the judges.
And that one wasn't filtered? I love this software!
