Lonewolf Diaries: SNL Uses Rahm Emanuel Sketch as Excuse to Launch Obscenity-Laced Tirade at Sarah Palin
by Steven CrowderSNL… They were doing so well for a while. It looked like rather than bending over for the administration, they were going to return to the irreverent brand of “take no prisoners” humor that has made them the political powerhouse that they are today. There was the infamous “Obama Deals with China” sketch, followed by a few subtle jabs at the POTUS, but it has ended there. In an attempt to remain politically relevant, SNL has decided to once again go after none other than Sarah Palin. At the very least, you have to respect them for being ballsy, right?

To the untrained eye, SNL’s recent “Rahm Emanuel Apology” sketch would seem to be poking fun at the chief-of-staff designate. To be fair, they make him look like a bit of a jerk (albeit still a smart one.) Personally I would have gone with the whole “he looks like Brad Garret on a heroin-bender” angle, but keep in mind that I’m a bi-partisan hack. The most notable part of the SNL piece had nothing to do with Emmanuel himself, but the jabs taken at Sarah Palin:
“You come after me on Facebook? What, are your fourteen? Here’s a status update: Grow the f–k up! Poke me again, and I will write s–t on your wall so obscene your computer will cry. Go back to the tundra, you f–king gimmick!”
One has to ask themselves, “Where are the jokes?” The only truthful premise for any of these punchlines is that Sarah Palin effectively used social networking tools to make a fool out of the pencil-necked Emanuel. Does that really make her immature? Most of the current administration use some form of new media (including the President himself who seems quite the twitter-fiend). The only difference is that Palin seems to currently have more sway over public opinion and the ultimate ability to define policy (even though she holds no office). Still, I haven’t yet seen anyone address the mean-spiritedness of the SNL swipes at Palin. Maybe that’s because those attacks are only reserved to Palin herself, as seen by the reaction to a recent joke at her latest Tea Party speech.
“We really do love our trees. I named my daughter Willow. Isn’t that granola enough for them?”
Don’t expect to see Palin at your local comedy club anytime soon, but the joke can stand on its own two feet. According to the mainstream media however, it was seen as too edgy or (according to some) flat out “mean.” How can a joke with no clear-cut personal target, no true social relevancy or words of hatred be mean? Maybe I’m just a simp.
See when it comes to dealing with Palin, none of the facts matter. Much like their sentiments towards FoxNews, the media is blinded by its hatred for the woman. You’re going to see a lot more “pile-ons” when it comes to Palin in the coming months, and here’s why…
Palin’s Achilles heel was her lack of experience in dealing with the media. Much like Reagan, she decided to control her own message. She did so by hitting the road with her book and dealing directly with the American people. Unlike Reagan (who worked in the entertainment industry for years), this wasn’t going to help her where she needed it most. The only way to gain media experience is to get in front of the media.
Enter Palin’s Fox News contributorship. Palin now has an open venue where she can get her feet wet in dealing with the press, without having to worry about getting sucker-punched like a photographer adjacent to a coked-out Sean Penn.
It really is a genius move on her part, and the folks at NBC hate that. The fact that she’s incredibly hot only exacerbates their problem. While I’m not necessarily 100% sold on Palin as an 2012 candidate so far, what the media continues to do to her is criminal. I’m talking Barney Frank-level criminal. Why isn’t he in federal prison, by the way? I’d pay a nickel to see that mugshot.
What do you folks think of the “Rahm Emanuel” sketch? Was it funny or just another chance to jump on the Palin-hating bandwagon?

I thought it funny. Mrs Palin, as much as I admire her, has opened herself up to these jabs. Think she would have been better served to creating her own blog, rather than using Facebook to do so.
I am still open on the question of Palin in 2012, but as long as she continues to drive the media and the left (redundant I know) crazy, then more power to her.
Palin-hatred is the new racism.
The skit? Sophomoric, no… juvenile, no… infantile, humor. Their "humor" is as underdeveloped as their common sense. Anything the left tries to do to minimize her will fall just as flat. She is in the perfect position to do as she sees best, for her family and the country.
hate to sound like a broken record, but…
The Left's obsession with Sarah Palin rests solely on one factor- physical attractiveness. If she was a beast, there'd be no SNL skits, no MSNBC rants…
Because then she would fit within their established paradigm. Lockstep thinking- like the left- requires preconceived notions. And this 44 year old hardbody from Alaska stumps them every time. Not to mention she is SO much more attractive then the '30 Rock' poseur who plays her on TV. They know THAT, too.
It's why Germaine Greer called her, within 24 hours of her nomination as Vice Presidential candidate:
"An existential threat to feminism"…
I thought the bit was great and I'm sure they will do a whole new bit about her hand, they are somewhat predictable. But the most amazing thing is, how she gets under there skin so easily. All's she has is Fox news and herself and she is just mowing them down. I don't know how she will do in 2012 but it will be fun to watch.
betweentheeyes
Palin generates the hate with her own hypocrisy and ability to stick herself in nearly every circus story out there.
I'm so sick of our side trying to make her into some victims everytime someone takes a shot at her.
The Left still congratulates themselves for the way they destroyed Dan Quayle. The same technique won't work against Sarah Palin, because she is a counter-puncher. Their attacks on her only show their fear of her as an opponent.
palin might be a nobody, but! she mentions death panels, and everybody denies that they are there, until they have to try to eliminate the death panels in there. then she is insulted by abusing the r word, next thing rahm is apologising to anybody who will listen. for a nobody, they are still scared of her, as well they should. who knows if she will run for president, but if the republicans were smart, and i don't think they are, they would can steele, and get palin to be the rnc chair. she would slay every rino, and progressive in her way.
Sarah Palin will be attacked by the left at all times. It doesn't matter what she says or does. She knows how to handle the MSM a lot better now!.Her influence with voters is growing daily and the reason is very simple:she has common sense and if you add to that the honesty and love of country that comes through when she speaks we have somebody to look for in 2012,unless ,like she said, there's somebody better. We need to back all these new faces with real conservative values and eliminate the old "cancer"in politics from both Parties.
Don't watch the show. It has sucked since the 80's. To politically correct and biased. Think we would ever see news for the deaf with Garret Morris screaming at the top of his lungs now LOL…
you are completely missing the point on her…
Plucked from obscurity, she has touched a raw nerve that few politicians can ever experience- and that includes Obama. No matter what is said against her, she represents 35 million women out there without a voice-
and that's no small feat…
Saturday Night Live is still on TV? Seriously?
Mike – exactly – SNL is still on TV? I stopped watching it years ago. It's just not funny.
Our third-world leader and his circle of friends are creating a blood divide with no middle ground. The so-called great minds of our times will ultimately lead people to a slaughter. Twitter that…
I've decided to give Liberals exactly what they want – the ability to control my thoughts. It works like this. Anything they support with all devotion I know to hate with a passion. Anything they hate with a passion I know to support with all devotion. Therefore, hooray for the Supreme Court. President Sarah Palin in 2012. George Clooney can kiss my . . .
The sketch was a throwaway. I think their goal was to do the ultimate Rahmhole skit but they couldn't come up with any good ideas. So they punted and fell back to doing one-off Palin jokes, the old standby.
Nice analysis of Palin herself, by the way. It's amazing what genius you can see in her if you're not deluded by blind hate. Palin could rescue a family from a burning building and the left would bust an artery raging that she didn't save the pet goldfish.
Saturday Night Live at one time was funny back in the Chevy Chase days. When all that crew left, SNL went to hell and it hasn't come back from there. I don't watch it and I hardly post any of their alleged skits.
…PLUS…. SNL also inexplicably attacked the USA Network show 'Burn Notice', which is a clever and entertaining look at spycraft (I actually look forward more to it than '24')….
…perhaps this is because the villain-of-the-week on 'Burn Notice' regularly resembles any random appointee in the Obama administration?…
Sarah is the worlds greatest @$$#0!& detector: She drives them so far 'round the bend, that they can't help but expose themselves. This is a rare and valuable talent not to be underestimated. The more of these gutter dwellers she can get to expose their @$$ to the American public, the better off the libertarian-conservative cause will be.
i find it all rather disgusting. the poor woman
…and Sarah gets stronger and stronger.
She's unstoppable, because she doesn't care about the lamestream media at all.
It's a beautiful thing to watch.
To answer your question, I found the SNL skit as flat and unfunny as many I've seen in the last two or three years. And it had a deliberate political theme, which is also typical lately. For me it's hard to say it's only purpose was to hammer Palin, but they will never miss a chance to do that. It gets laughs in the studio. It's for that reason I no longer make any effort to see the show, relying on word of mouth and web video. Maybe I've seen 5 full shows in three years. Although it has never been "high brow" (anyone recall the bass-o-matic?), for my tastes it has really has sunk to a level more akin to high school, or younger, potty and genital humor. But, then again, so have a number of popular movies of late….
Regarding Palin, I'm not in her camp at this point. But it might be worth investigating the actual facts and history for someone with the resources, access, and perhaps appropriate career (journalist? commentator?), but it seems there has never been such a relentless, focused, obsessive, and incessant attack on a politician in history. I've lived through the cycles from Reagan up to now, but I cannot recall such hysteria about any politician at any level including the attacks on Clinton during and after the Lewinsky debacle. Although that was pretty bad. It HAS to be existential about her. And in my humble opinion it is every thing about her. Looks, approach to family, religion (not just that she is religious but she is one of "those really vocal and faithful types"), conservatism, and "common" way of speaking, lacking typical education (law or Ivy). It's the whole package and every micro-inch of it.
SNL – just another program that needs to die a slow ratings death.
It was about as funny as Colbert. Which was not.
Agree. They can't help themselves. Their masks fall off in their frenzy to eat her alive.
That's where you're wrong. I'm on Facebook, and I am on her list so that I get her posts and status updates. I love it. For me, she's connecting to the people where they are, and for a lot of us, that's on Facebook. I'm in marketing and our senior regional supervisor sent an article out today about our "new customer" – the one who Tweets and gets on Facebook, etc. It's quite lengthy and covers a lot more attributes than that, but the point is: if you want to reach the masses you have to go where they are. Simple as that. She's brilliant. Oh, and I'm no teenager. I'm 41 and a grandmother (just got the three-month-old down to sleep before her mother comes to get her), and my 250+ friends range from teens (from my church youth group or the local civic theatre where I perform now and then) to senior citizens, including my 71-year-old mom.
Her appearance on Fox News Sunday was excellent and you could see a marked improvement in her demeanor, style, and substance. She is learning quickly and learning to throw off the condescension and talking down from her interviewers. She is throwing it right back with humor, style, and confidence.
This particular skit was not very funny, but I also believe that we have skin that is too thin. It was more about Rahm than Palin. Sometimes I think that SNL can't win. Once, they tried to make fun of the media going to Alaska to dig up dirt on Palin. Again, it wasn't funny. But it also wasn't designed to attack Palin directly. But many on the right seemed to interpret it that way.
My patience is worn out with SNL. Mostly because it just isn't that funny. Last week, they had two different skits attempt humor with the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy. There isn't much humor in this topic from any side and they did TWO SKITS!! What are their writers thinking? The actors are decent. But the writers are simply awful.
There is so much material that the Obama administration cranks out every week. It isn't that hard. I can't believe that comedic writers desire to be this partisan. It really is bizarre.
PS: The other week (with Jon Hamm?) was pretty good. The Scott Brown skit was funny. As was the Sergio digital short and the Ham & Buble skit. So it is possible for them, but it is such a chore for the audience to endure the tripe to find a few decent morsels of quality.
I'm a Palin fan. Huge. I'll also be the first to say that Tina Fey was hilarious. This was not. It was disgusting.
Why is the lamestream media so obsessed about attacking a private citizen? Because they know she has taken on her own party with glee, and will expose the grift of both parties. None of these grifters are ready to pack their bags. Heads up, dweebs, Samsonite is designing a special line of luggage just for DC grifters.
Really, Snooper1? Really? Jon Lovitz? Phil Hartman? Dana Carvey? Mike Myers? Eddy Murphy? Andy Samberg? Not funny? Really?
andrea……………………..no presidential nor VEEP candidate, in the history of this nation, has been so vilified, to the extent she and ALL members of her family, INCLUDING HER INFANT SON, during and a year PLUS, after losing the election; NOT ONE, not even Ptresident Bush and President Nixon combined !
And you can't see that, HELL YES, she and her entire family have been victimized?
Please don't include yourself with MY side; you're extremely ignorant, illogical, and need to either admit that you're really a LIBERAL, or educate yourself as to what's really what.
Having said that, what more can we really expect? We slam them, they slam us, etc….
Eh, I've given up on Saturday Night Live. If they don't think the Obama administration is ripe for satire after Obama uses a podium and teleprompter in a 6th grade class, I give up. Now that was funny… pathetic, but funny.
I agree that it's gotten so bad that if Sarah was over heard ordering a salad for dinner, MSNBC would be reporting how "Sarah Palin Doesn't Support the Ranching Industry" before breakfast. In this instance with the SNL skit, I'll have to give SNL a pass on this (and only this) skit. The skit's purpose was making fun of Emanuel's notorious short temper, and the comments made by the actor would have been in character for Emanuel. The jokes aren't personal or cheep shots. It brings up the dispute between Palin and Zeke Emanuel, her use of Facebook, and her leaving office before her term was up, All fair game in my book. Yes there is swearing involved but It's apart of the skit charecter, and he directs it at the Democrats as well. This wasn't nearly as bad as Tina Fey's portrayal of Palin as a complete bimbo. I still have to explain to people it was Tina, not Sarah that said she could see Russia from her house. That, I think, was much more of a personal insult to her.
Just in case some here don't know the truth about Quayle's adding the "E" at the end of the word "potato", here it is………………………………………………..
During his tenure as VEEP, Dan Quayle was making an appearance at a school. The teacher asked him to write the word "potato" on a blackboard. He did and spelled it correctly. IT WAS THE TEACHER WHO TOLD HIM TO PUT THAT "E" AT THE END OF THE WORD !
But the MSM and Dem pols still try to whack him over the head with the "misspelling" supposed "error".
They can't do that with Sarah, she takes NOTHING sitting down and the net is alive well and open 24 hours a days, as is FNC. It's a whole new ballgame!
Rush Limbaugh's show is the place to go for Obama/Dem Congress humor; if any of the SNL writers attempted material akin to Paul Shanklin's parody ads and songs, they'd find themselves shunned by the rest of the SNL staff at best, canned at the worst. It's easy to miss the best jokes when you're programmed or 'herded' to overlook them.
If a President with an R behind his name had perpetrated some of Obama's gaffes, SNL would've run their jokes about them in to the ground long before their first year in office had run its course.
What, no jokes actually directed at Rahm-Rod Deadfish? No jokes about the recent Corpse Man? Why is this garbage still on the air? It was funny when Phil Hartman propped up the all star cast of Hooks, Meyers, Carvey, Rock, Farley… heck, from '89 to '94. Every other year contained just a few stand outs i.e. Eddie Murphy. Today's SNL = juvenile attempts at humor which fall flat. Laugh In and Hee-Haw were better than this crap, and they were stupid!
And so, the once feared and fearless SNL has lost it's mojo, ay?
They wouldn't dare launch such an attack against Obama or his administration. That I can make such a claim with complete confidence proves, actually, that although their mojo may be salvageable–their gonads are not.
So long, SNL. Lucky for me that I remember your heydays, a very long, long time ago.
I have no fears for Sarah. I don't think she will run for president—she won't need to—she will be the major political force in this country for the next 10 years, regardless of the party she selects.
The lefties hounded President Nixon, because he brought down ( won the election, actually, just using lefty terminology ) Helen Gahagan Douglas, who was indeed a PINKO.
The lefties also went after Nixon, because he believed Chambers and correctly believed that Hiss was a stinking COMMIE agent. There are some stinking Commies ( Pete Seeger ), who refuse to accept the fact that Hiss was indeed working for and with the KGB and not some poor innocent lamb.
Andy Jackson that it was pols, who killed his wife, because they went after him and her……………saying that they were bigamists ( her divorce took forever to get ), Dems went after Mamie Eisenhower ( spreading a false rumor that she was a closet drunk ), but that never got out of the sub rosa stage. The FFs engaged in some of THE worst of the worst "hits" ( Thomas Jefferson being THE absolute dirtiest, nastiest, most vile of them all, though Aaron Burr was also an SOB of the worst order ), but all in all, there has NEVER been anything even close to the way the MSM,. Dems, and some supposed "conservative" pundits have and still are going after Sarah Palin and hedr entire family.
I'm no fan of Rahm but let's face it he didn't say F'nnn Retards in front of anyone who might be offended by it, and the Dem's who released it to the Wall St Journal were idiots (if I can say that without offending anyone).
The Rahm skit was the funniest thing I've seen on SNL in quite a while.
Can we all stop being so sensitive your starting to sound like Democrats.
You think that she'll become a DEM, do you?
She won't join some 1/2 arsed, supposed "tea party party"; she's said so repeatedly. And since the only such a one ( yes, someone DID already co-opt the name ) is a one man DEM in Florida, that name is gone.
Sarah knows, unlike far too many others, that it would be sheer madness for Tea Partiers to go fringe.
Even the bully on the school ground is easily defeated, the one he pounces daily is well educated by the repeated practice of self defense!!! Sarah needs this, it strengthens her resolve!!! Her battle skills need to be honed, her vision is in tact!!!!!
Blaming the victim, are we? How much of what Sarah Palin has achieved has passed you by? That's really the problem, isn't it? Think about it while you grab a spoon and another pint of Ben & Jerry's.
The bit didn't get half the laughs that the Obama slamming ones did. I think I even heard a few coughs and uncomfortable pauses. Everyone is sick and tired of leftist hatred, whether they like Sarah or not. Everyone is tired of liberals latching on to an individual or issue and flogging it to death while ignoring their own glaring heinous acts. The skit was mediocre at best, and still only got weak laughter from drones infected with Palin Derangement Syndrome. I'm all for ripping on everybody; that's what good comedy is – equal opportunity ripping. But this was the same old jokes sprinkled with adolescent bitterness.
sure I have. if you listen to only half of them, you'll think she's really popular. cute dog, btw, jackass
Good point Lisa. Colbert was nasty and stupid. It's like having to listen to an hysterical teenage girl go on and on about her hatred for her ex-boyfriend.
doesn't really answer his question, does it, tomtom?
"I’m talking Barney Frank-level criminal. Why isn’t he in federal prison, by the way?"
Probably because he'd enjoy it too much?
Has anyone else noticed that any post on any of the Bigs (or Tucker's Daily Caller) is immediately inundated with Liberal trolls who post over and over? Are there people who watch out for this stuff then alert the Daily KOS or something?
Too weird.
I don't think that's an unfair criticism. Facebook is a great way to get your message out to millions of people at once, so she's smart for doing it. On the other hand, Facebook and My Space are mostly frequented by kids being dumb kids, so it does open her up to obvious jokes. Personally, I think she should have done her own blog (or written for someone else) in addition to her Facebook posts. It's been almost a year, and I'm still waiting to hear who she respects in the Conservative community (besides Reagan, who EVERYONE says they love). For me, it's Krauthammer, Steyn, Goldberg and VDH. They are so smart, if I don't agree with one of them I assume I must be wrong somehow.
I disagree. Whomever becomes the Republican candidate in 2012 will get the same treatment. I think that the MSM/Lefty talking heads got so good at Bush bashing that it's become their default MO.
Using Facebook is so incredibly, incredibly ubiquitous that it sounds like mean-spirited sniping when SNL calls Palin out for it. Honestly, CNN fills COUNTLESS minutes by reading Facebook comments on air, and I'm sure they're not the only network that does so. While I think it's annoying for news programs to use Facebook comments to represent public opinion, to say that using Facebook is only for fourteen-year-olds is a huuuuuge stretch.
There would still be some skits, they would just be a different level of mean (remember John Goodman as Linda Trip?). Their obsession does point to how much they fear her (which in part is because she's attractive physically as well as having an endearing manner of speech).
It is interesting, however, that the two topics that will always bring out trolls who don't appear on other threads are Palin and O'Keefe. Isn't that interesting?
Andrea, I'm in total agreement with you. I hate when people allow their political views to obscure common sense. Like with me (a total hardcore Liberal), I hate when people refuse to admit that Obama is a corrupt, do-nothing failure. Then I look at Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as representatives and I want to slit my wrists. Geez….Barney Frank???? The guy had a gay lover running a brothel out of his apartment, was sleeping with a guy from Freddie Mac (who he was helping to legislate), has a new lover with a pot farm in his backyard, and single-handedly forced the mortgage crisis to move forward.
It's so embarrassing that I can barely tell people I'm a Liberal anymore. There isn't one of them that isn't corrupt or hopelessly incompetent. And as a lifelong Liberal I can assure you that most Liberals agree with me. {/sarcasm}
SNL stinks. They're just a bunch of pointy headed libs with big mouths. Oh, am I racist hatemonger now?
I'm not totally sold on the Sarah Palin 2012 idea either, Steven. I'm just not sure she has enough experience to deal with all the crud they're gonna dump on her up in Washington D.C. I really fear it'd be like Obama, just a little less severe.
The skit's not funny, it's just another hateful jab at Republicans. The only time I ever watched SNL–just cause I hate how dirty and liberal they are–was when Taylor Lautner came on. Even then–and they were well aware of their audience, a bunch of screaming 8 year olds–they made jokes about being gay. They're just ridiculous, seriously. I say we yank 'em from the air. SNL needs some FUNNY writers, someone with a sense of humor and NO political opinion to thrust upon us.
I feel for Sarah Palin truthfully; she's certainly had to deal with a lot lately, huh?
-CT-
Slight of the hand. Palins palm:
Energy, Cut taxes, Lift America's spirit.
All things America needs right in the palm of her hand.
Especially when Palin is mentioned. She really does bring out the crazy.
It was a brilliant and hilarious sketch. Sarah Palin has nothing to offer America – she is empty-headed and has as much charisma as a small soapdish. Her "you betcha" folksy style is a coverup for her complete lack of knowledge of what's happening in the world, never mind in her own country. The thought of her as President, not knowing shyte about the rest of the planet other than Alaska, is beyond frightening. If John McCain has anything to apologize for, it was picker her as his running mate. And btw, I have never voted Democrat in my life.
When the left attacked Dan Quayle, it got away with it because he was patrician. People did not identify with him. But when they attack Sarah, they earn only the enmity of millions, because she is authentically of the people. Attack Sarah, and you attack the average American.
The left has no idea what it has unleashed.
These liberals must be afraid Palin will put them in the gulags when she becomes president. No need to worry little liberals, that' a lefty tactic.
Feminists hate Palin for the same reason that the Pro-Choice groups hated the Tebow ad. How dare their opposition package itself attractively?
Wait! So that means that I can use any racial or ethnic slur I want however I want so long as none of the group targeted are close enough to hear me?
Actually I was and am willing to interpret it as a sample of Rahm's behavior, not a slam on Palin. It makes him look like the a-hole he is, and it doesn't touch her because it is so off base.
I think I have only watched SNL once or twice in my lifetime. Don't plan to increase my viewing.

"The only difference is that Palin seems to currently have more sway over public opinion and the ultimate ability to define policy (even though she holds no official)." Wait I thought she was governor? What happened there?
Excuse me, mr. fightindoofus. Have you noticed the responses she gets?
I think many of Palin's male critics on the left do have a repressed attraction to her. Why else do they constantly focus on her appearance?
She's perhaps the hottest woman political bigshot this country has ever known. And she has the charisma and solid founding in conservative ideals to make her a viable one. Attach her to a rock-ribbed conservative genius and we might just have a winning ticket.
Andrea, as in Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington….
You, madame, are clueless…..
Don't know that it's making Sarah out to be a helpless victim. More like making her detractors look like absolute clueless buffoons. I don't think Sarah sees herself as a "victim".
She seems to be driving cracker heads such as yourself, completely crackers!!!
An existential threat to the clique of control freaks that call themselves feminists, at least…
I used to date a chick named Andrea. She was an a ss h ole too.
Yeah, what was that about? Must be because lefties hate anything with heart and values.
SNL – I quit watching that years ago. The show is just an MTV sitcom.
Part of SNL's problem is that they've fallen into a rut of hiring comedians based on their looks rather than their comedic talent.
That's a leap. Who's talking about Demotards? I'm referring to whatever comes together on the conservative side.
Steven – great article as usual. I was not offended by this sketch because at this point I have come to expect this kind of idiocy from SNL and the left. But the more time they spend viciously attacking people like Palin, the more irrelevant they become to everyday Americans.
At this point, I think it's clear to all that the twits in Hollywood and the twits on MSNBC or at the Gray Lady are not worth getting worked up over anymore. They cannot come up with a valid counter argument to Palin's sound conservative values and therefore resort to petty personal attacks, like a bunch of kids on the playground – "You're stupid!," "No! YOU'RE stupid!"
Since they are super self-absorbed and surrounded by like-minded people, they are constantly validated in their juvenile attacks, all while regular Americans take note and don't forget what they have said (just like the politicians). This is why the majority of liberal media outlets are flailing and on the edge of oblivion while a show like "Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld" – which airs at 3am – is pummeling CNN's primetime lineup (thought I'd throw in that plug for my favorite show, which you are great on by the way!).
So there you have it. Let Matt Damon, Chevy Chase, Andy Sandwhatever, Keith Olbermann, and Robert Gibbs and his left hand keep bitching and moaning, and Americans will continue what we have been doing all along: answering them by not watching their channels and movies, buying their newspapers, and by voting them out of office. Pretty soon they will fade into the sunset, like the ending of one of the hokey movies they star in (which we haven't seen either).
posted for your consideration……Imagine if you will, that Sarah Palin, just by being the very real threat that she is to the progressive movement..(all of congress)…just by the mere hint that she may run in 2012 is not to be the real threat to democrats….but is the proverbial "shot across the bow" to the Republican party instead.
Meaning, you (republicans and GOP leaders) either get with the program that Americans…the REAL Americans who are sick to death of the cabal of so called lawmakers infecting Washington at present….that they (the GOP) either field a very real candidate that will follow the will of conservatives, or she will do it for them by running for President herself.
The current attitude of the Republican party is to co opt the conservative movement and then continue with business as usual. It is a seriously flawed idea…the conservative movement is going to vote for the best candidate to represent their values…and they are chomping at the bit to bring very real "change" to Washington in both the mid term and the 2012 elections. The GOP will discover to their dismay that "business as usual" will cost them their seats, or their desire for becoming a majority in both houses…..
So it's fun to watch everyone flinch when Sarah Palin raises her hand….they know they have to do something, and quickly. What they dont know is how to fool the electorate like they used to. What we know is that they will fail in that attempt, and we may finally get back on the road to recovery…and the virulent disease known as "politics as usual" will be purged from our lives, simply because "we" are involved, aware, and prepared to vote accordingly.
I know..I know..just sayin it can happen. Not saying it will, but hoping to hell it does. Washington needs a good bleaching….
Who was playing Rahm (I can't bear to subject myself to actually watching the bit)? I lost some respect for Bill Hader (bascially the respect I'd gained for him from watching Night at the Smithsonian 2 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs — he's still the Dan Ackroyd of our generation in my book, though) for his James Carville bits which basically weren't so much a mocking of Carville, but just using the impression as a mouthpiece to bash Rush Limbaugh and Fox News (and, also, inform us that James Carville is well-endowed). This isn't satire, it's invective.
"The only difference is that Palin seems to currently have more sway over public opinion and the ultimate ability to define policy (even though she holds no official)"
Than a president with a telep-prompter, a press secretary, a whole Fed Government and media corps at his disposal? Wow, FSOM, you're giving this woman a whole lot of power, aren't you.
"" Wait I thought she was governor? What happened there?"
It's called a coup. In the twentieth century, Leftists don't need to pick up guns — first of all they don't need to.
1. In shooting revolutions, the subject of the revolution might shoot back – ouch! Lefties aren't known for their courage. They're "peaceniks" until they get a choke hold on the gov and aren't in any personal danger themselves 2) They use lawyers. How many lawsuits was the Governor's office fighting off? Including one against her for wearing a jacket in below freezing weather. Good grief.
Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air, but unelectable. Why? Because right out of the starting gate, the propagandists in the media identified her as a threat and destroyed her by using her own naivete against her. She probably believed Gibson and Couric were journalists and not the first salvos from the DNC. We don't need a president that naive.
Her second crime was having a Downs Syndrome child. To the "pro choice" women her making that "choice" was anathema. If a woman "chooses" to deliver a damaged child then how are they supposed to feel about themselves when they abort a perfectly normal child? She threatened them because she proved by her "choice" that "pro choice" is not that at all, but rather "pro abortion".
And, by the way, I'm pro choice.
Not to break up the much-deserved criticism of SNL, but let's acknowledge the fact that this is one of Crowder's best LWDs in recent memory. 100% on target, perfectly paced, and well done.
In it's heyday, SNL put everybody down–it was an equal opportunity roaster show. Over time, the show seems to have veered to the left, apparently, and has taken a nose dive in ratings for that reason.
In short, you haven't missed a thing–
SNL started turning to total crap when Lorne Michaels turned over the head writing duties to Seth Myers(who never would have passed muster with SNL in the '80's or '90's, except as an errand boy for the cast members), back benched Darryl Hammond, featured Kristin Wiig in EVERY skit, etc.
American Thinker today had a very good article written by a former Left-leaning woman – very salient to this article and how Palin is being maligned and attacked: the Left are really anti-women. They hate women, wish to denigrate them.
The title of it is misleading – just read it down – she has some very damning things to say about the Left:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/02/paranoia_s...
good point.
American Thinker had an article back in November of 2009 called The Wilding of Sarah Palin that I think is good to recall:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/11/the_wildin...
From the article:
The American Left has a long history of defiling people to control and break them. The hard core '60s leftists were masters of guerrilla warfare, like the Symbionese Liberation Army repeatedly raping Patty Hearst. Huey P. Newton sent a male Black Panther to the hospital, bloodied and damaged from a punishment of sodomy.
The extreme Left still consider themselves warriors, righteous soldiers for their Marxist cause. With Palin, they use sexual violence as part of their military arsenal.
Palin is not the only intended victim. As Against Our Will described, the brutality is also aimed at men. By forcing men to witness Palin's violation, the Left tries to emasculate conservative men and render them powerless.
The wilding of any woman is reprehensible. But defiling a mother of five with a babe in her arms, and a grandmother to boot, is particularly obscene. It is, of course, Palin's unapologetic motherhood that fuels the leftist fire.
if we run palin in 2012, its a sure-fire way to insuring another 4 years of obama. cant put it any more simple than that.
Conservatives still watch TV? Seriously?
The nebulous "They" are so upset because "They" didn't think of it first. And "They" think that they remain in the forefront and develop the trends that we should all follow. How wrong "They" are.
I am glad Sarah is on TV more these days. Every time I see Jarrett, Dunn or Romer on the tube I have to watch at least a minute of Palin just to recover.
They've been trying to Quayle her since it's been working for them so well. It's an old tactic. They first try to attack her intelligence. Attractiveness isn't what drives them to reacting in such a rabid fury, it's the viability of the possible front runner. They do it to any Republican candidate that looks like they would be more favorable than theirs. The attractiveness factor, particularly in this case makes them even more rabid.
If she was a beast, no one on the right would care about her either.
It's still on and people still talk about it – including this website who talks about it every single week.
When is Sarah Palin going to actually say something with some substance? She keeps blabbering on – rehashing the same speech, but never saying anything of substance.
Hallelujah!
The support she gets from those on the right proves just how disconnected they actually are. Sarah Palin cares about one thing and one thing only. I'll give you all a hint – it starts with C and ends with H.
The average American? Are you kidding?
She was paid $100,000 for that speech the other day. A speech that didn't say anything. The average American works a little harder for their money than she does. She looks good and has meaningless speeches written for her. Not sure how average American that is.
Why is no one talking about the blatant hypocrisy going on here?
Let's recap:
1. Sarah Palin calls for Rahm Emanuel to be fired for using the word retard but it's ok for Rush the Tush to say it.
2. Sarah Palin mocks President Obama for using a teleprompter (because George W never used one?), but she scribbles notes on hr hand like a 3rd grader before a spelling test.
I believe the expression is, "what's good for the goose is good for the gander."
Wake up American. She's a big phony.
