U.S. Military in Haiti: Proving James Cameron Wrong Once Again
by Steven CrowderI know, I know. Italy has been questioning the amount of aid that the United States has sent to Haiti as of late. If only we could be more like our Italian counterparts. How many troops have they put on the ground there? Maybe they can send George Clooney over with a few gift baskets. I hear he summers in Laglio.
PS: Another special thanks to the United States military. Just please, for God’s sake, stop killing blue people.

Great bit. But Avatar will not get my $8.
Haiti.
The emotional, hot topic dujour.
Wait a month, it'll be Darfour again. Won't spend a buck for Avatar or Cameron. Dislike his politics, so I always vote with my dollars. As far as Haiti is concerned, personally, I believe all is well there now; Geraldo Rivera and Sean Penn have everything under control…………
Well said Steven.
I just can't wrap my head around the fact that some countries think we're helping too much over in Haiti.
We're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't.
.
Hua! Never been a more benevolent super power in the history of the world.
.
Sorry guys…Cameron is a Film-making visionary (never a chick flick)…can't take anything he does politically (and if you don't think resurrection scene in 'The Abyss' was one of most tense moments ever…turn in your movie club card)…and since the protagonist and the antagonist were former marines can't really jump on the one sided bandwagon with ya. So Rest your brain a bit and see the most engrossing bit of eye candy in the last 10 years.

No better friend. No worse enemy.
It costs about $15 per ticket to see it in 3D. (in LA anyway)
The United States is evil and terrible until something bad happens in the world, then we are called upon to fix it. That's part of who we are as a nation and I'm proud that our country does that, but I am so sick of how we are portrayed around the world.
Our military does wonderful things to help so many people. They won't toot their own horns, so I'm glad you did it for them Steven!
Dead on again, Steven. And as much as it irks me to say this, I gotta give props to George Clooney for organizing the Hope for Haiti telethon. He was able to raise a ton of money, so he gets a liberal pass from me on that effort.
The answer to your question is niente. The ain't warmongers like us.
I so look forward to Steven Crowder. I can always count on him making me laugh! Thank you!
No.
Great one again, Crowder.
I'll say, that Marine-Hollywood-Stereotype was one of your funniest characters since Santa Claus said "Here's ma wang!"
The US Military is simply great. And the reason that it is great is twofold….Great Americans serve in the military, and Great Principles guide its use and deployment. It's not perfect, but try to find a better one anywhere in the world. Without these two linchpins, we'd be just another 3rd-rate socialist wannabe.
Well said as usual Steven! It absolutely p~sses me off that guys like Cameron, who rely on the peace and safey bought with US lives, run around denigrating the very people who risk their lives to protect his sorry rear end.
God Bless the Haitian people and our military.
And Steven Crowder, of course.
The United States is evil and terrible until something bad happens in the world, then we are called upon to fix it.
Then they're called evil and terrible for not fixing it fast enough.
Steven, spot on, thank you for acknowledging the dedication, and sacrifices these young men and women make in the name of our country. Their honor for Country, Flag, those in need, and each other puts to shame the conduct that many in D.C. seem to exhibit.
……….and then nothing is said, until all is fixed, and all is well, and about the time we load up and go home, without ever getting a thank you, then the evil and terrible diatribes begin anew.
We never learn. We rebuilt Europe after WW II with the Marshall Plan.
iF THERE IS ANYTHING THE mILITARY DOES EXCEPTIONALLY WELL IT'S SUPPLY. Nobody is better at moving huge amounts of food, clothing, whatever to any point in the world….. and getting it distributed. Not to mention providing top notch medical care, muscle, aND WHATEVER ELSE IS NEEDED. rOAD BUILDING, BRIDGE BUILDING, ETC… No better group for the job in Haiti than our Military.
That reminds me of a bumper sticker I read a while back………..
Thank you for calling the United Nations emergency hotline…………If this is an actual emergency, please hang up and dial America……….
A grest piece, Steven. Our military is the best.
The US military is a peacemaking operation, whether they are in combat or in relief as in Haiti. They are the best at what they do, have the best tools, the most funding and the best soldiers. Their only problem is that they are commanded by political creatures.
ROTFLMAO! I LOVE that bumper sticker.
How very very true!
If you've got a loved one in the military – friend or family – I guarantee you that you get more than a little peeved when certain elements of our society (and other countries) portrays our soldiers as mass murdering, baby-killing, raping machines. They've obviously mistaken us for the Russian military in Afghanistan circa 1980s.
My husband is in a Civil Affairs Unit and might be going to Haiti next month, after returning from his 2nd tour in Iraq last August. He asked if I was happy about him going. And I told him that although I will miss him, I am so proud of him and all that he has done for people in other countries.
The U.S. Military is the best in the world. God Bless our Troops, wherever they are.
God Bless the Haitian people!
Sadly the ratio of pro/neutral- military to anti-military films has grown to about 10 to 1 in the past 40 years.
The military hate was ushered in by the "movie brats" of the 1960 and 70s save Spielberg.
I'd rather side with the 'damned if we do' than the 'damned if we don't'.
I hope it gets to the people and not the government of Haiti. We like to think there are some corrupt people in Washington, that's nothing compared to Haiti.
Just sayin' Steven, next movie. Crazy Marine on Jungle Planet. Yeah, it's a parody of some movie out there. Have Mike Baker as the crazy Marine commander.
James Cameron has a 400 million dollar budget. I doubt Steven had a $40 to work with.
I'm a sucker for a video with an AK-47 and a Desert Eagle.
It would have been great if all these technical achievements (many of which are astounding to consider) were not wasted on a script that is nearly a Xerox copy of Disney's Pocahontas.
Thank you Steven for supporting our military. The liberals love to ignore all the humanitarian work our military does.
By the way, you played your role fantastically in To Save A Life, I almost left the theater not liking you.
Don't forget that Cameron also bashed the miners. Remember them? They are the ones that put their lives on the line to get you everything useful that can't be grown in the fields. I would be happy to be the one that put the miners pick in to the back of the Cameron beast. God Bless our Troops and our Miners!!! And please send the liberals back to hell where they belong.
My son who got back in March from a 15 month tour in Iraq is now in Haiti w/ the 82nd. He was thrilled to be able to go there and help. I don't know what he's doing or where he's at in Port Au Prince or when we'll see him again, but I couldn't be more proud of him and our military.
Spot on Steven.

Geraldo Rivera is a misunderstood genius that future generations of Americans will venerate alongside John Wayne, Frank Capra, & John Ford.
Amen to that. God bless you and your husband.
No, see, the Marines haven't harmed Haiti yet because there's no energy there. But once we discover Unobtainum there like we did on Pandora…
You know, the sad thing about Avatar (well, 2), is that
a) James Cameron used to write good scripts. Both "Aliens" and "the Abyss" had both great effects AND writing. Now his films just have the former with very little of the latter.
b) a movie named "Avatar" sucks, which takes the name away from "The Last Airbender", which shouldn't suck, as long as it stays true to the cartoon.
Cameron is as big an elistist DEMOCRAP A-Hole as he is a GOOD MOVIE MAKER
…Now the guys that put together LEGION are GREAT MOVIE MAKERS!
I really don't care if the technical aspect of the film is the greatest thing since mana decended from heaven. I am a person of principle, I don't throw those away because of "eye candy". Besides when the Next-Gen Video Game Consoles come out they will probably match or exceed the effects of Avatar, I'll just enjoy it then and kill virtual ultranationalist commies while I enjoy the splendor of the graphics.
But my beef with Avatar is not only because of the insulting storyline. But also because the director is the same man who several years before created a film that had an inserted dime-a-dozen love story with the backdrop of a horrible event that killed 1,517 people. What does it say about a man who pretty much said by making the film that the victims on the RMS Titantic or the event itself just wasn't 'interesting' enough that they had to make two FICTIONAL people with a crappy love story to make it 'interesting'. I know that was a really long run on sentence, but I don't care.
So Avatar is not the only reason I despise James Cameron. In fact I have serveral other reasons to despise him, but I have taken enough of your time.
Good day, sir.
Would a marine actually wear desert cammies in the jungle? That's the only problem I have here, otherwise great video!
Haiti has that one tree left where he might blend in.
It irritates me intensely that other countires criticise the USA and the UK for the charitable work they do. Talk is cheap and America's critics do nothing except complain. In the UK we LOVE the USA and always will. The WW2 GI's who came here and sacrificed their lives for freedom are loved and honoured to this day. The USMC is doing a great job in Haiti (as they always do). Just love you guys, thanks again from a grateful Brit.
Those who don't (France & Italy) always seem to criticize those that do (US).
indeed.. if we're gonna be damned, we might as well do.
now that is a true classic.
James Cameron used to be good. The Terminator was great, a soldier comes back in time to save the day. True Lies was good, an American spy saves the day from Islamic terrorists.
But, like Spielberg, he's gone off the deep end.
Would a Marine actually be toting an AK-47?
Thanks Clive. For the record, Americans are very fond of the UK as well.
It's always been our peculiar genius. From the time Washington appointed his most talented subordinate, Nathanael Greene, to the thankless but vital job of Quartermaster General, right down to Rommel's glum assessment in 1944: "If the Americans ever secure a beachhead, they'll supply us to death."
Cheers, Cousin. And back at ya.
Clive thank you for your thoughts, England and America share much in common and I feel most Americans appreciate your words.
Hey Stevie, been down to talk to that recruiter yet? Man up and put your body where your mouth is. I smell a chickenhawk.
He did raise a ton of money, and to make sure it gets used the most efficiently, it should be given to support the Military Operations over there. Or to a group that uses 100% of donations for the relief effort. None of this 10% is used for overhead cost and paying the chief organizers BS.
Remember when you learned that the bullies always tore the other kids down because it made them look better. Same thing. It's a joke what some countries are offering Haiti, yet they talk the loudest.
Have to agree about the Cloon and his liberal pals. Say what you will about their wacky political ideas, they are capable of raising large amounts of money for good causes very quickly. My feeling is, at least NOW they're doing something USEFUL rather than just acting like privileged, loud-mouthed cultural and economic parasites. Nice to see them rising to the occasion.
Well said. I liked Titanic ONLY because of the reproduction of the ship and the disaster, which were excellent, but the story line was weak and made worse that these were two fictional characters (actually, several fictional characters) that the movie concentrated on. The real life stories were far more interesting and needed to be told again but were mostly overlooked.
I smell an idiot…
Venezuela, Italy and France have attacked US Response to the Haiti earthquake. If Bush was President the left would have sided with them and bashed Bush. I honestly wish Obama would tell those nations to Shut the F UP
Clooney's telethon did no good at all. While people in Haiti lay dying and thirsty, the US Marines were there providing fresh water, plentiful food, medical care and protection from thugs and murderers.
The millions Clooney raised, when it finally gets to Haiti, will go to line the pockets of the dictators and criminals who ran Haiti into the ground in the first place. The shacks will be rebuilt with no more care than they were in the first place, there will be lavish parties at the UN, and when the next disaster strikes our brave military men and women will be there, again, helping. Meanwhile the millions Clooney and his cohorts raised will be gone down the rat-hole, bringing nothing to the Haitian people.
Too bad we can't break this cycle.
They raise a lot of money yes, but do you think much if any of it gets to the intended victims? I don't.
When the sum total of the aid is totaled up i am sure you will find the U.S. and it's Military gave more than all other nations combined.
Hey guys, don't get down on Italy, they have donated $9M.
Big hand for Canada, highest donation per capita.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/jan/...
Thank you!
Thank you!
Get used to it. That's never going to change.
Dependency breeds contempt, and the majority of the rest of the world is dependent on America for defense and peace. And it just east at them.
Hell, you beat me to the Valley Forge line.
Tell your husband my family says a big heart felt "THANK YOU!"
Tell you son "Thank You!" from all of us!
Leaving the Canadians out of it for the time being, that list appears to be aid pledged by governments. I imagine it would be considerably higher if it included private donations.
Seems to me most nations simply pay taxes and leave it at that. One thing I love about Americans, is we just get up and do it ourselves.
Perfect! Couldn't have said it better……………"Titantic The Love Story", what a piece of crap………….Maybe James will tackle "Katrina The Musical" next……………
Seriously, did you watch Terminator II and brew on its anti-technology implications and doomsday fear of robot superiority? GET OVER IT. Avatar explicitly explained that back on Earth, the marines were HEROES, but they were merely mercs on Pandora.
Unlikely. He is a Identity group whore who is a foil to the right wing opinion on Fox, who is beyond his shelf life. Adios Geraldo.
Pass; I'll keep my money in my pocket, or buy a video of old movie that is actually entertaining.
Supplies can be replaced, troops, eh not so easy. However, there was more to the defeat of Germany than just supplies. Read "When the Odds Were Even" about the Vosges campaign, 1945.
Pound sand, boy. Have you served? If you haven't, then STFU. The very definition of a Chickenhawk is the spew you sent here 4 hours ago. (Full disclosure- I spent 29 years on active duty… Troll)
I like all those scenes of marines raping and pillaging third world countries. Really puts everything in perspective. America- evil when nothing bad happens, evil when helping after something bad happens.
It's just a no win for us- but oh what would happen if we took those countries off our tit? We'd be evil. Eeeeevil.
Would a Marine be such a single digit IQ moron?
Well, if you ask any sailor about the intellectual attainments of jarheads……
<ducks>
That's GOVERNMENT aid: no mention of private aid, but I'll bet the US is (as usual) top of the heap there, too.
What's a tragedy is how much of that money will go down the UN rathole, never to be seen again.
No better friend, no worse enemy.
Or "The Last Samurai."
"Titanic" is not a chick-flick?!
It so is!
The romantic lead is not a hot, chiseled guy – but some metrosexual. Not an ounce of masculinity in him!
(Okay – before you "Titanic" fans lash out at me, understand this: I saw it seven times in the theatres BECAUSE I wanted to see the living, "breathing" interior of the grand ship. I wanted to experience tangible luxury aboard the ill-fated vessel. I love the James Horner score. And finally, who doesn't love First Officer Murdoch and Fifth Officer Lowe? COME ON!)
Aren't the Marines the Men's Department in the Navy?
…just sayin'…
:p
That requires learnin' and everyone knows Marines ain't the edukated kind….ain't that right, John Kerry?
Pass on our gratitude to your husband, please. And keep some for yourself:
thank YOU for your sacrifice, and God bless your husband.
What a remarkable young man you've got!
Tell him "Thank you!" for us.
God bless you and your family.
Wait, what?
I want my thumbs-up back.
(I kid, I kid!)
I wish I could give you a higher rating than one thumbs-up.
When are the Marines going to invade Hollywood?
I think the whole thing in Haiti is disturbing. The U.S. uses/tests their HAARP weapon and destroys the capital city of Haiti with earthquakes. Then the U.S. sends medical and troops there to fix it (they were prepared to go to Haiti two days before the quakes). We are called upon to donate "anything you can spare" to help them. I feel sorry for the Haitians for being the victims of this silly game of world control. The U.S. should not have 10,000 troops over there, the U.S. should not be the ones who borrow them money to rebuild and then ask for the money back later only to enslave them because they can't pay the U.S. back. Talk about "Humanitarian Invasaion"!
Our military gets a bad rap too often. They deserve love and honor from us. Shame on James Cameron. But thanks to this video, I'm always gonna think of "James Cameron is a Nazi." lol too good!
Upon multiple viewings….is it me or is Crowder doing a fantastic Jayne Cobb impression?
Wait – so once a Marine is no longer in the Marine Corps, he becomes a sociopath? My understanding was that the Marine Corps – as well as the other branches of our armed forces – pride themselves on equipping people to face life in general. The veterans I've met have certainly confirmed that.
The fact is, the antagonist is shown to be representative of the vast majority of the Marines under his command (I don't recall seeing any Marines showing disgust or even dissent while Quaritch gives his "fight terror with terror" speech) while the protagonist is one of *two* who rebel; one of which willingly forfeiting his humanity forever. It's clearly an indictment of humanity in general, and the Marines in specific.
And I've seen the Director's Cut of "The Abyss". You mean to tell me that the ending wasn't a political message?
I like eye-candy. I dislike turning off my brain. Life is far more interesting when I'm actively using it.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I have seen "Avatar" – twice. Once in the 3D theater, and once in the 3D IMAX with friends who hadn't seen it but wanted to. So maybe I'm part of the problem, even though I winced through most of the heavy-handedness. Perhaps I'm also a masochist?)
Oh, well, that clears everything up nicely. Whether you behave in a heroic manner or not depends upon your geographical location; it has nothing to do with the values instilled in you during your training.
Wake me when you get to the part about Greys and the Protocols of Zion.
WE are such a danger to the world…oh yes we are. We rush to places that aren't even places any longer to give aid and support and to HELP BUILD what is gone. IF those that hate us gave the needed hand instead of the rhetoritc there just might be more FOOD there and MORE HANDS there to help get it out. I guess we will have to build a NEW AIRPORT so these whining countries can get there little food baskets into the people there. Why we might even have to build a new SEA PORT for boats to come on DOWN with supplies…but hey it is JUST A OK WITH US…the treacherous bastards that we are. There is so much we can STEAL and PLUNDER from Haiti that is was WELL WORTH the effort of over run them with food and people.
