The more that the other side hears that we are celebrating something they can easily spin that into a minor speed bump along the way to their far-reaching goals. Even a passing familiarity with the way legislation works its way thru the House and Senate — and in truth, I'm assuming you have far less than that — would suggest that it's far too early to make any definitive statements regarding the bill that will eventually pass. You're confusing "health care reform" with "insurance regulation". Two completely different things, genius.
It would be relatively easy for the government to stop the Evil Great Satan Insurance Conglomerate from cancelling coverage for terminally ill patients. Which really sucks, by the way. All they'd have to do is draft some legislation with teeth in it that enacted severe cash penalties for any insurer caught doing that, then enforce the legislation.
They don't need single-payer health care to fix that problem.
