Must-See Undercover Exposé of Socialized Healthcare!
by Steven CrowderIf you’re like most asinine leftists, you’ve probably been a long time advocate of “Universal Healthcare” without ever having had the opportunity to experience the crappy, decrepit system first-hand… Well here’s your chance… And you better hold on tight, Buttercup, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
You see, just like college students, liberals have the luxury of espousing points of view from the lap of luxury that is the USA. When you’ve had to live through it and have actually had a “dog in the fight,” it becomes a whole new ball game. Is this really what we want for America?

O.K. Steve – I think you should get Oscar buzz at the very least and maybe some HBO heavy rotation. Seriously, nicely done!
I lived over in the UK for a number of years and FLEW home to the GREAT US OF A to get any procedure done. This universal healthcare system will be the downfall of the western civilization…..it is downright pathetic that the left is so gun-ho over this!!!!
Good Job Steve! 20 minutes is a long time for my short attention span but, it was a very informative and firsthand look at what the Democrats want to force on us. I second the Oscar buzz.

Funny how supporters of universal health care always point to other countries as shining examples of what government run health care is like. Why don't they ever brag about how superior the government run VA health care system is to this country's private health care system? Strange how I never hear anyone, especially liberals, say, "Boy, I wish I could get some of the superfantastic VA health care."

Awesome video. This should be required viewing by all high school students and deranged leftists. It actually looked like you were taking a trip to Hell!!! Wow, I was so depressed by the end. Sadly, I think this is coming to a theatre near you in the good ol USA………
That was Great! My Wife is from The Netherlands – where they too 'enjoy' socialized medicine – and from what I've seen the system over here is better. The aspect that I think so many people bite-off on is the word "Free". they don't seem to understand that you ALWAYS pay for healthcare in form or another in the case of socialized medicine it's through ridiculous taxes – income taxes, sales tax or Value Added Taxes.
One big difference between the right and the left — Michael Moore and Al Gore are smart enough to know that 50 – 60% of Americans are willing to spend a substantial portion of their paychecks to see a movie or short like this in a big building that smells like buttered popcorn. Why? Well, one reason is because you get to sit in a big, cushy chair in front of a big screen that looks a little bit like your TV for two hours doing nothing more then, well, sitting in a big, cushy chair in front of a big screen that looks a little bit like your TV. Why the hell doesn't the right ever take its case to television or the silver screen? I'm willing to bet that just because you get to sit in a big, cushy chair in front of a big screen that looks a little bit like your TV, 50 – 60% of Americans would pay to see a movie about how Canada's health care system sucks. Let's grow some testicles, righties!
Great video, and I was very impressed by the fact that you speak fluent French – that's one more language than our 'eloquent' President, and two more than he can speak without a teleprompter!
Incredible! Very well done and so enlightening. What a scary system Canada has. I knew the UK had major issues, but it seems Canada is just as bad or worse. Obama is an idiot if he thinks this will work. Actually, I don't think he seriously does think it will work. He just doesn't care because he is filthy RICH. The rich don't give a rat's behind about us "regular" folk. Keep at it Steve!!
Off it goes to facebook!
What a great video, Stephen. I've already shared it on Facebook, and I'm asking others to do so. This is what we are going to get if people don't stand up and fight for their freedom. By the way, at the end it looked more like the Lorena Bobbit clinic than anything else. I'm looking forward to the next video to see if you survived your "procedure".
too funny…Awesome stuff.
hahahahahaha! "You're young, you have time to wait". PRICELESS.
This stuff made me cry. Literally.
If we are dumb enough to allow this to happen then we deserve what we get.
We need that here, sounds great. I always thought it would be great to see Mike Moore sitting in an emergency room with all the great unwashed. Wait a minute, are you telling me that there would be a two tiered system? Mikey Moore would be able to pay for his special treatment while all the rest of us slaps had to contend with the system he championed? Liberal hypocrisy once again. Anyone surprised?
"The wait is 2-3 years… but don't worry… you're young"
My God.
I had experienced both National Health as well as private care in The UK , pregnant with my second child. Had I kept with the public system the baby would not have been alive or would have been born with major problems. I have so many sad tales from my British friends, sadly a few are now dead from the dreadful care. Your film , understates the true nightmare of socialized medicine!
Thanks for putting this together !
…BTW, you have great hair !
My jaw hit the ground on that one. Yeah because young people never need health care. -shaking head-
Me, too! LOL….just got finished posting it.
So, you think in a few years we'll all need to head north for decent health care?
Steven, awesome as usual. Posted on my Facebook.
A year or two ago, I had to see a doctor. I had no job so I had to go to the County in California. The waits were long.
This was normal.
BTW. Thanks for the expose Steve.
Obama said it all when he said he would not pledge that his family would only use the government run healthcare that he is setting up for the rest of us. Better believe he will be using the private healthcare for rich people.
Yannow…until today…I'd always thought that whole "take a number" joke about socialized healthcare was just that….a joke.
It's frightening to think that L.A.'s Cedars Sinai could one day be reduced to running itself like a delicatessen.
Excellent work, Steven.
I just figured out why Canadians live longer than Americans….they can't get medical care. Obviously, medical care is detrimental to your health!
Well done. Who knew that "free" healthcare isn't free and isn't all that good?
Canadians live longer because you have to wait in line up to 3 years for a doctor to declare you dead and sign the death certificate… skews the data, eh.
Yep, backs up everything I've heard about government run healthcare. One need only remember their last dealings with the DMV to realized these jokers can't run anything. Heck, most of them never have run anything.
Now, how do we get the misinformed sheep that voted for Obama and his ilk to wake up and smell the formaldehyde.
Well if you can't control population through abortion. Public health care seems like a good way to go about it. One more good idea from the left.
/sarc off
Not to worry. Obama and the members of the administration and Congress will not be forced to participate in any form of national health care. They have their own health care plan.

Bravo, well played
Have to delurk for this one, Steven… excellent job. I've heard the same thing from other Canadians. A British friend who is not noticeably conservative once told me that in America, old ladies compare costs of hip replacements, whereas in the UK, they compare the number of years they had to wait for it. An Australian friend and a Canadian friend once agreed that while socialized medicine worked fairly well (by their standards) in their home countries, it would never work in the US because there are too many people for the system to handle. And while there will be some people burdening the system with minor ailments because it's "free," the US also has its fair share of people like the father of a friend in East Berlin, who made the whole family go to the doctor at least once a year whether they needed it or not because (my paraphrase) "we're paying for it; we might as well use it!"
The freedom to choose your health care provider is critical. I needed to start seeing a specialist last year, but the only specialist in town was booked up four and a half months in advance. When my condition worsened, I went back to my primary to get a referral out of town, and we found someone equally good half an hour away who could see me the next week. By the time my original appointment had been scheduled, I'd been on the meds I needed long enough to see real improvement, and now the problem is as well controlled as it can be. God alone knows where I'd be now if I hadn't had that choice.
Certainly, our current system needs work. But socialism would only make things worse. And as Zo pointed out a while back, if the government denies you coverage because of a pre-existing condition, where can you go if not to the private sector?
Brazil is an awesome movie.
I love Terry Gilliam movies
Sad but true. One other thing I heard about this spring concerned a cost-effectiveness board the British have that determines whether or not to let people take new and expensive medication or procedures based on whether the expense is justified by the lives that will be saved (read: whether the person is "worth it"). One of the things this board did was to declare in 2006 that a new drug used to combat maculur degeneration in the elderly could not be prescribed until the patient had already lost the use of one eye; then it could be used to save the other. It took three years and a massive public outcry to make the board reverse its decision. The glories of socialized medicine. I know about this institution, incidentally, because of news that the Obama administration included plans to establish its own cost-effectiveness board (based on the British model) in the stimulus package.
Steve bravo! I keep waiting from an expose from our national news networks but to no avail. It's not like there aren't 1000s of examples of poor care like in your video around the world. Very sad that this is being set up as such a great thing. It's scandalous.
A typical experience I had on National health includes the time my daughter (5yrs old) broke her arm and we had to wait in the emergency room next to a chair that was soaked in blood for 3 hrs just to get into triage. Not one nurse or anyone came to clean the chair and this was one of the nicer hospitals.
Total time my daughter sat with a broken arm waiting to get it fixed—8 hours! We left at 1am with an appointment to come back for a cast later in the week.
I'll just call Socialized Healthcare what it is: Government Eugenics.
It's essentially a raffle for your life. Good luck, you'll need it if we get it.
crowder speaks french? that's hot! but canadacare, that's so not!!! do. not. want.
Yeah, I heard these stories about Canada healthcare before. Interesting that NO network TV shows will air any investigative reports on it. Note how Michael Moore chose to go to Cuba. Can you see why? It was much easier to hide the truth of Cuba's system because no Cubans but government officials will comment. Additionally, the hospital Moore used was a government hospital for the elite government. What a sham.
LOL Great comment!
I am the Sales & Marketing Director for an Independent and Assisted Living community for seniors in Florida. One of the "perks" of my job is being able to participate in an activity of choice with the residents, something not related to my job description at all, and on work time. I chose to facilitate a Bible study. That means I find the materials (usually a free online source) and facilitate the group discussion, but, let's face it, I learn more from them than they do from me. Anyhoo, I realized that most of our 170+ residents probably know nothing about this National Health Care proposal, and while I usually shy away from talking about politics at work (although most of us are conservative) I decided to spend a few minutes of our study time last week letting them know. I gave them a rundown on the basics, especially as it applies to them, senior citizens. (continued below)
(Part 2) They had no idea. I recommended they listen to a local talk radio station to get the truth and to start educating themselves and talking to their families and their fellow residents. They were shocked. As a sidenote, there is every possibility that my industry (non-nursing home senior care) will die out completely if the proposal passes. And I'll be out of a job. Figures.

WELL I AM TIRED OF THESE NYC LIB'S WHO WOULD RATHER LIVE IN A SOCIALEST SYSTEM THEN A FREE CAPITALIST SYSTEM. I DO'NT CARE IF THE HELATH 'CARE' IS COSTS LESS, I WOUDL RATHER DIE THAN KNOW THAT MY GOVERMENT HAD MORE CHOICE OVER MY CHILDREN'S HEALTH CARE THAN I DID, WELL IN CANADA EVEN A DOG HAS MORE CHOICE OVER HIS CHILDREN'S HEALTH CARE. LIVE FREE OR DIE, THAT IS THE AMERICAN'S WAY, SO GET IT RIGHT ALL YOU CANADAIN'S!
WELL THIS VIDEO WAS EVEN MORE FUNNY THAN 'MAXIMUM EXPOSURE' BUT YOU'RE VOICE SOUND JUST LIKE THE ANNOUNSER LOL! SO HILARIOUSE!
That is the second half of the equation. The first is abortion. Getting rid of undesirables.
What is remarkable about this, is the lack of OUTRAGE!!!
Is there a 911 emergency ambulance service in the Canadian system? I'm curious as to how that works. Maybe we could all wrap our cars around trees to get in to see a dr. . Oh wait…our cars will be less safe too so maybe that's not such a good idea.
Oh, for pete's sake. If this doesn't nudge the freaking mindless americans, I'm not sure what will. What a great piece, Steven. You are such a great guy.
In the U.S. now, the private healthcare system PAYS FOR that care you got. It's SUBSIDIZED by the best healthcare system in the world. If you had been in Canada you might have waited 7 months and lost both legs.
Baaaa Baaaa
Really excellent Stephen! Thank you. I'm linking this on every profile/blog/twitter thingy I have. Keep fighting the good fight. We're with you!

Great Vid Steven, thanks for showing the facts.
I think I just might be able to squeeze out $5 a month from my budget if this is the stuff you guys are going to be producing.
Just one personal thing… "Stay clean", we need you to become a politician. =)
Michael Moore is a genius when he is useful to the left.
This is genius and useful to all… so it will be ignored by the left.

What really caused me to swallow my gum is when they said a check-up at a private clinic costs $900. If anybody bothered asking for the price of a check-up here in the US instead of letting insurance pay for it they will notice it's around $100, not that bad for an annual expense. But then, everything is more expensive in a black market economy.
Brilliant
Given the fact that Canadians live two years longer on average than us Yanks, it's clear that easy, convenient access to medical care is killing millions of Americans every year.
Count me in!

Next they'll be coming for our air conditioners!
Excellent work, expose these frauds for what they are, criminals of the highest degree. I for one don't want to pay two health care costs, what do you think will happen if we all have to pay tax for the health care? People will realize, hell, I am already paying for this in my taxes, why am I going to pay it twice?
I had a friend in Norway who had a bad stomach ache every night whenever he breathed out, he went to the clinic on two separate occasions in a week, both times they told him to take valium and try to get some sleep at night, it was just nerves.
The third night was too much for him, so, he paid the equivalent of 100 bucks US to walk into a private clinic, they ran xrays and blood work and confirmed he had Pancreatic Cancer. Now, while he was in the hospital he paid for nothing while he fought the cancer, BUT he died at 27, one of the smartest guys I ever knew. To get to the highest tier of his nation's socialized medicine he had to have two things going for him, he had to be dying and he had to be young. If you are old and dying in a socialist system, guess what, tough crap, you will be one less mouth to feed for them, if you are young, you can still contribute.
So, in conclusion, if you want the government who can't seem to tie their shoes, running your medical choices, sign up for Obama's health plan. And the end of this piece was the best voice, the guy who CREATED their system in Canada is now looking to US as a model, what else needs to be said, really?
Are there no American cities where one would encounter the same problems?
Obama's socialized healthcare is the one initiative that I hope gets passed and implemented quickly. That way all those obama supporters can get a taste of exaclty what they voted for!
There is a great production company doing just that, the Moving Pictures Institute. Check them out at http://www.thempi.org
Steven, thank you so much for this. I had a heated debate with a Canadian that tried to refute everything you just reported. Of course, this particular person had *private supplement insurance* through their employer. And, they allege *most people have it as well*. I say, bullcrap. Maybe in certain Provinces, maybe with certain employers. But now I am convinced I was debating with an elitist liberal who *had his*, and had no clue as to how it was to be among the working class not fortunate enough to be provided *supplement insurance*.
Spot on, and your French was sexy!
lol…I am going to go to become a Doctor, go to Canada, and get a bunch of patients
and not see anybody for 3 years……….
unstinking believable that we want to be like these idiots !!!!!!

I remember once seeing a YouTube video juxtaposing two Canadians' experiences with their healthcare system. One was a woman with a bladder problem who had to wait so long for treatment that eventually too much damage was done and she now have to use a catheter for the rest of her life. The other was a transexual who praised the Canadian healthcare system for how quickly he/she/whatever got his/her/whatever sex change operation. The video mentioned the provincial head of the healthcare system was an open homosexual, which probably explained the differences in service. When the government is in charge of setting priorities in anything, political affiliations will always play a factor.
It's OK, though, no worries. Obama has already indicated that if it's a member of HIS family, and he gets a run-around or they tell him they cannot do anything for her within the system, then he WILL take her outside the system and seek the best obtainable private care. Sorta like the public schools are OK for all of DC's kids, but his kids like Chelsea before them will go to Sidwell Friends' School.
So it's all really OK, it's all good, eh?
The problem is not that we are dumb. the problem is that our leaders will vote for it no matter what their constituents want. The elitists feel like they know what is best for us regardless what we think.
It is hopeless.
Now there is a good point. Moore says that they are all healthy in a socialized system. That's because all the ones who needed treatment ARE DEAD.
talk about survival of the fittest.
Steve! You've been working out. Those are some awesome guns you got going, but I digress.
Thanks for putting this together. I will do my best to get it out there.
The major problem is that our leaders will vote for it no matter what their constituents want. Remember the house vote on Cap and trade? The calls to their offices were 10-1 agaist it, but it passed anyway. The elitists feel like they know what is best for us regardless what we think.
I fear it is hopeless.
I'm Canadian and I won't dispute this video, but isn't the move to socialized health care a response some inadequacies in the American system? A friend from work has a daughter who lived in the states. She lost her job and had no health coverage. She needed medical services and it was very expensive out of pocket. How does the American system work in situations like that? She was a unemployed Canadian living legally in the US. I think she married an American. For the record I've never had the problems shown in this video.
My wife is from OZ and they have a kind of "Mixed" health care system. I can't believe the crazy things that they put up with down there! She spent over a year waiting to have her gaul bladder removed! O.O!!!
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Thank you so much, Steven. Brilliant vid. I'm going to email this to everyone I know. My only nit-pick? The part where you say write your congressman.
Dude, my congressman is Henry freakin' Waxman. Might as well put a gun to my head right now.
Son accent est nul, mais à part ça, il parle pas mal!
Great point! That was the highlight of the video. I nearly spewed my tea out of my nose when Steven held up that little deli number.
Precisely. It's survival of the fittest. Isn't social darwinism wonderful?
This stuff always reminds me of the movie 'Brazil', which can be more true to life or what's about to become life. Where the world's ruled by bureaucrats. Why not turn our docs into lifeless bureaucrats? Is there no love for the square peg in the square hole system the left wants us to have? For shame!
Great insightful video!
What a great video, Steven. I've already shared it on Facebook, and I'm asking others to do so. This is what we are going to get if people don't stand up and fight for their freedom. nightmarish scenario for the USA.. Lets hope 2010 and 2012 sees huge defeats for the leftist clowns. God save America.
if not dead, missing limbs and unable to be there for the "man on the street" interviews
Everything Obama is doing is about control and power. He doesn't give a crap about your health care. He is intentionally trying to create such a heavy burden on our economic system that it collapses. It can then be rebuilt in a new and improved version of socialism. The government gets to control and regulate all businesses and how much we are paid. We will all pay 50% to 60% in taxes to cover the expenses of the millions of new Americans that will be allowed into the country. I think it is safe to say they will all become democrats so they can keep their free ride. The Republicans will never again be able to win a national election and the democrats get to stay in power indefinitely.
As a Canuck I must say that whenever I had a relatively serious medical problem it was always dealt with in a timely fashion, and I've got no complaints there. However, I recently tore the cartilage (meniscus) in my knee and now because of the pain I can't walk more than a few blocks at a time. Unfortunately I encountered a 6 month waiting list for an MRI, then a 3 month waiting list for an appointment with the surgeon my GP recommends and then an 8 month waiting list for the surgery. All this for a minor operation that takes less than an hour. I paid for my own MRI through a private clinic and did some phoning around to get the surgery done quicker. Thanks to some luck and a very helpful receptionist I am on track to have the procedure completed a little more than 4.5 months after the injury occurred. The reality is that we have a 2-tier system up here and if you can afford to pay for health care through a private clinic (or if you're a politician or a prison inmate or a sports star) you get to bypass the waiting lists.
Two points:
The first is a minor nit to pick with the comparison of U.S. costs (in general, not HC costs) to Canadian costs – you forgot to take into account that CAN$ are still less valuable than US$; e.g. the Canadian Subway bill of $23.41 CAN is actually equal to $20.14 US, a difference of US$1.26, not $4.53. Still more expensive in Quebec, just not quite AS more expensive.
The second is a more fundamental worry over the U.S. adoption of "Canadian-style" HC: It is a poorly-kept secret that US healthcare subsidizes these systems, in more than just in innovation. For instance, Canada and UK advertise lower medicine costs, but most pharma companies will acknowledge that they subsidize the "lower" costs in those markets by marking up their costs in the US, both a much larger and less-controlled market. We are, in effect, the world's safety valve. Were we to "go socialized," that safety valve would be shut off, and the pharmas that cut UK and Canada a break will stop doing so.
I just don't see the bill passing in the U.S. I think that even a good portion of Democrats are going to be scared of it. Even if they believe in the principles, they know that now is not the time to experiment with something that will push us further to the edge of bankruptcy.
It's all so depressing. Obama seems to get everything he wants, and it seems like no one can stop him. Our poor coutry is seriously going down the tubes. My parents are in their 60's and I just turned 40. And I am scared to death of what the future holds in Obamanation. SCARED TO DEATH. This video only confirms everything I have heard about nationalized health care. I will literally cry the day it is approved in the U.S. I will pass this video on… so I can cause others to feel depressed too. No, really. This is our reality now. Life in the U.S., I fear, will never be the same.
So, it takes 10 minutes and 10 dollars for the dog to get treated, and 3 years… or 10 hours… or 900 dollars for a HUMAN BEING to get the treatment that they need!? If America goes this direction, where then will we go to seek treatment? A poor woman is permantly disabled because of the wait in Canada. That is utterly INHUMANE and INEXUSABLE!!!! The dog got better and faster treatment than the human.
"Universal Healthcare" is only an issue to get socialized "care" to the slaves. The elites/politicians will still have their 1st-rate private care (paid for by our labor), while the rest of us get the rationed "care."
Then watch how "healthcare" is never an issue again for the politicians. They got what they wanted (whether Dems or Repubes): the sheeple all under control. The media won't bring it up ever again (you think Charles "Chuckles" Gibson will be down at the public clinic?).
Just like now: our Pravda-USA media just continues to feed the pablum. Say, when's American Idol on anyway?
Palin/Bachmann 2012 !
We have many friends in Europe and the UK – they all (even one who works for National Health in the UK) pay for private insurance – on top of paying for the system they don't use.
What's the bumper sticker? If you think healthcare is expensive, wait until it's free.
ToddM that's a brilliant comparison! Creepy how similar it is becoming to real life……..I haven't seen it in years. Got it running on the second monitor as I type…..
Thanks for reminding me of a great film.
Think of the poor planet though. It's patriotic to give up your air conditioner! You do love your country don't you? I shouldn't joke, that will probably be the next Obama infomercial…..
"Central Services: We do the work, you do the pleasure! Hi, there. I want to talk to you about ducts".
If I wasn't giggling through half of the clip, I'd be freakin' terrified.

"The reality is that we have a 2-tier system up here and if you can afford to pay for health care through a private clinic (or if you're a politician or a prison inmate or a sports star) you get to bypass the waiting lists."
Shouldn't that tell you all you need to know about the mind-blowing efficacy of the Canadian system?
My point is that we should take any and all means to prevent this. If peaceful means end up not working then………………..
I thought the whole point Lib's keep making about socialized medicine was to use preventative testing to reduce long term serious ailments from early detection and reduce the cost. Crowder's friend couldn't even get a blood test for cholesterol.
Excellent job! Thanks, I just hope there is still some common sense left in the US. Strange days ahead.
Hi Steven, I'm from Canada.
It's all too true. You can get better (and faster) treatment for your pet snake than you can for your ailing grandma. It is a lie that we have a single-tier, universally accessible system of "free" healthcare in Canada. If you are a member of a special, privileged class, you can get instant (private) access to any service you need. This class includes (among others) the very wealthy, members of the military, the police, firefighters, high-profile athletes, celebrities (such as they are in Canada), politicians, union members with the right contacts, and yes, even convicted felons–if you're in jail and you need an operation, no one makes you wait for it!
Only "ordinary" middle class Canadians are prohibited from spending their OWN money on private care–unless it's an abortion clinc. We have plenty of private abortion clinics in Canada. The REALLY horrifying thing is that so many Canadians are brainwashed by this myth of "free" universal healthcare, that they would (literally) rather die on a waiting list than change the system. And many do.
Yeah, that comment really hit home with me, too. Wow. Unbelievable!
I don't believe this nonsense and I'm afraid for the people who do. Some health care is better than NO health care. 15% of this country has no health care and perhaps 50% are underinsured. Many people who need life-saving procedures are turned down by greedy insurance companies because their CEOs want to take home millions of dollars. That's right–they let people die so they can get richer. The right-wingers who believe lies about national health care are doing exactly what the Republicans want–voting against their own interests. This country is turning into a banana republic because the average American is dumb as dirt.
The healthcare system here is definitely messed up, I won't deny that. There are things that need to be fixed. But we are moving in the WRONG direction to find the solution.
How can you NOT believe it? The facts are right there, staring you in the face. Ignoring them is foolish. I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that the current system we have here in America is in dire need of fixing, but going to socialized medicine is NOT the answer.
Since no one is suggesting that we adopt the Canadian system, what if conservatives started acknowledging the problems of our current system and made suggestions to improve it? Something more than just tort reform.
The response of the Obama Admin, "We will make sure it works right and not make the same mistakes of the other countries."
Crowder, your Undercover Canadian Healthcare Expose' needed to be the counterpoint to Obama's Healthcare Special. I think your short film could be very persuasive for many Americans with short attention spans who are uninformed about the true cost and inefficiency of socialized health care. Plus, you are one funny dude.
1. Let's start by removing every coverage that Congress has imposed on employer-based health insurance in the last 50 years. Did you know that in the TARP bailout legislation, Democrats added over 20 new procedues that employer Health insurance policies had to cover? As soon as we allow consumers to choose what they want their policy to cover, as opposed to Hillary Clinton's elitist friends, we'll see policy costs fall.
2.Change tax laws on corporations to be neutral regarding the benefit of Health Insurance. This will allow consumers to make a choice, do I want the Employer's Coverage, or do I want more salary and choose to buy my own insurance?
3. Allow consumers to purchase insurance from any Health Care Insurer in the US that offers it to them. No state boundaries.
The competition to create competitive insurance policies will lead to lower average costs. Moving consumers to independently buying helath insurance has an added economic benefit, it will increase their portablility, meaning that they are empowered and able to change companies for higher pay, rather than having to balance problems with changhing insurers into the equation. This will help the American workforce move to it's most productive use. Additionally, as insurance groups move from "everyone in Company X" to "a private group", the benefit of having a good diet, to drink in moderation, to not smoke, to excersize regularly will translate into qualifying for low-cost insurance, giving incentive to healthier lifestyles.

"Shouldn't that tell you all you need to know about the mind-blowing efficacy of the Canadian system?"
Trust me, I'm well aware that my 3.5 months (so far) of not being able to walk properly speaks volumes about problems with our healthcare system. As I mentioned, however, I've had far better luck with other, more serious medical issues in the past. Having said that, one of the doctors who runs a private clinic here recently mentioned that some of the most vociferous critics of the 2-tier system are well-paid union execs who, coincidentally, also happen to be frequent paying customers of his private clinic whenever THEY need medical care and don't feel they should have to tolerate long waiting lists.
As for Americans, it's clearly a case of "Be careful what you wish for…"
The irony being the tech diffusion from the United States private system which facilitates innovation is the reason socialized medicine has worked at all.
Actually, that's the sticker price. If you state up front you have no insurance and have cash, most docs will charge more like 60, or maybe even just what an out of network copay might have been, 30-35, because the sticker price is to make up for all the non-paying customers and uncovered visits by the insurance companies.
If you don't have insurance or are out of work, tell your doctor (not just the billing lady whose job is to collect when checking you out). They are people in your community too, not just evil profiteers with a scalpel.
** Please do every free market capitalist a favor and do a report on Canadian services and therapy available in public education for special needs children vs. private. Thank you.
uh, no surprise – lots of Canadians speak French (at least the ones near Quebec)
Wow. The great bogeyman, socialized medicine. For starters there are 10 provinces with 10 different systems in Canada. Plus a federal system for the territories. Its not one homogenous system. Provinces that are wealthy like Alberta, BC, Sask, tend to have better systems. Some provinces like Quebec cover dental work, most don't.
The best socialized health care system in the world by far is France. England is considered to have one of the worst. If you did an expose of privatized health care, there are a lot of horror stories out there about denied care that are just as bad as any if not worse than sociatlized care.
France is always rated the #1 country for health care. The US system wastes a tremendous amount of money on admin. It costs twice as much to insure a person as in Canada but in Canada every person is insured and here 40 million still have no coverage. But they do….they just go to the county hospital and the tax payer pays in the end. And half the time that could have been taken care of for a lot cheaper earlier on if they did have coverage. It makes no sense.
The cost is not on the back of employers in "socialized medicine" countries but on the taxpayer. It is easier for a corporation to survive there ironically. GM"s biggest cost was always retirees medical benefits. I didn't even bother watching this as most American critics simply don't understand it and when I watch them the factual errors are huge. I grew up in Alberta, and I vote republican all the time but for me, this is a no brainer. In the long run it saves more money. There should be a choice above the state run system like in England, but the state run system has to be much better than the state run system in England, more like Canada or France.
Its coming because it only makes sense. Securing the border would help. In Canada they have a problem with Americans trying to get free care……all the time. When is the expose coming on that?

Agreed! I know they want us to feel hopeless so we will give up. I have to keep reminding myself not to do that, but it is hard.
That's a good looking deer btw! Living in the hill country affords us all kinds of deer in our yard. I probably should learn how to hunt in case things get really bad!
not sarcastic at all! sounds more like the truth.
I used to think that, but not any more. Look at cap and trade.
It takes a heck of a lot to impress me, and WOW! I'm IMPRESSED!!! What an eye-opening piece. I'm going to send this to everyone I know. Keep up the good work. Excellent!
Here, here!
don't forget medical malpractice insurance rates are unexcusable. Many obgyns have left their practice because 250k+ a year for malpractice insurance is not doable. Thanks to Lawyers like obamacorn!
I live in Toronto and I recognized every moment. Yes, absolutely it is like that. 1 million Ontarians cannot find a GP and average wait times in emergency rooms are 10-13 hours. You cannot see a specialist or get blood tests without seeing a GP first. Even after that, wait times for the specialists are 6-9 months. And if you need an MRI, the wait in Ontario is about 7 months. Most people I know have at some time used connections with family or friends who are doctors to try and jump the queue, or have gone to the U.S. for faster treatment. We would be even worse off if we didn't have the U.S. as an option. We are spending almost 50 cents out of every tax dollar on healthcare in Ontario and we are dying waiting for the rationed results.
They live longer, cause the sick ones die off young with lack of health care. Skews your statistics to your favor.
Sorry, but that kind of vindication is not what I want. It is not worth it to shoot ourselves in the foot just to make a point. Please think about that a bit before you encourage it.
Yes you should! We eat nothing but venison at our house. It is so good and good for you!
Great work, Steve. Actually, I'm even more afraid of a national healthcare system now than I was before. Thanks for the education.
I really hate the supposed sob stories about people not having health insurance. There are plenty of AFFORDABLE health insurance companies out there for people to buy their own. Just google it and you will see. Even companies like State Farm have hospitalizaiton policies you can buy for less than $100 month. If you are too poor to afford that, THEN YOU QUALIFY FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE.
Most people who make enough to buy their own health insurance wont do it because they feel they would rather keep more of their own money and make the taxpayers do it. It is a farce that they cannot afford it.
People need to stop listening to these kind of lies. It is only meant to elicit an emotional response that you will vote with your messed up emotions rather than your head. Please people be smart. Research on your own how easy and inexpensive it is to buy health insurance if it is not provided by your job. Again, if you are too poor to afford these plans then you qualify for federal plans. GIVE ME A BREAK.
When does this come out on Blu-ray? I need to show this to some coastal elitists that won't watch anything unless it's in high def and available in their Netflix queue…
But if Michael Moore says I need Universal Health care, then I think i really need it. Cuz Michael Moore is supersmart.
Looks like the socialist caught wind of Crowder's video. They are timidly trickling in. Happy to see their troll numbers have decreased. I wanted to repost this on the main thread to address all those that come it with their fake sob stories about Americans with no health insurance dying by the millions. In case you don't know it yet, that is a lie.

Just the few I mentioned would save you $500 or more dollars a month.

So if America has the best health care system in the world it must be much better than Canada, Britain, France, Australia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Germany, Norway, New Zealand and all the others. Everyone talks about Canada and Britain. What about the rest? No, health care isn't free, just like public school education or police and fireman or electricity or water or parks and roads aren't. But you don't hear people complaining about those things. If America has the better system then it must be worlds better at breast cancer survival rate or prostate cancer and its citizens must live years and years longer. The rest of the world must be in loads of poverty and people sleeping in the streets for all they paid for their health care. But they aren't. And they don't. Isn't this a case of Charlie Brown telling Lucy's statistics to shut up?
On mine as well.
There is a difference. It may have cost her a lot of money to get medical service, but she still got the service. The problem with socialized medicine is if the government decides you shouldn't receive medical treatment, you will never get it no matter how much money you're willing to pay.
Heavens forbid you get sick when you're young, you have a long time to wait. Get sick when your middle age, you have only half as much time to wait. Get sick when you're old, then just wait to die then no problem.
STEVEN CROWDER …. Please take us on a tour of the VETERANS hospital Process …. Talk to old time Vietnam Vets and see what hospital they like. Take us to see that infamous Reed hospital… Then show us its a two pronged system of socialized where by private for profit medicine is being squeezed out.

Indeed, additionally, you're not let off the tax rolls until said certificate has been signed by three levels of bearucratic officials oncve the doctor has signed off.

It will only get worse when our system is burdened by government interference. Then the number Canadians who come to the US will diminish, further burdening the Canadian system. So sorry, I have liked every Canadian I ever met.

It varies, state by state. My state requires that insurance be available once you quit/lose your job. Some people make the mistake of dropping coverage and have to count on emergency room care.
I'm self-employed, 58 years old. My HMO is less than $200/month with $5000 deductible. Preventive Maintenance procedures are free: colonoscopy, blood tests etc. Seems darn cheap to me, upkeep for the car and the dog are more expensive.
Did you see the same video I saw? This was NO healthcare. period.
Have you ever lived under a national health system? It's a simple question.
How old are you?
Does your age, or general health make a difference? (such as young, nonsmoker)
I'm a conservative who knows that universal healthcare will not work for the USA. I am also an American who lives in Canada (Toronto) married to a Canadian. However, i can tell you that overall, my experience with the Canadian system has been excellent. The fact is, he went to Quebec. Quebec's system is completely different from the rest of the country.
And it's run by Quebec'ers–nuff said. I just took my mother-in-law with the same wrist problem yesterday and we waited 10 minutes to see a doctor, had an immediate X-Ray, and then another 20 for the results. And no big bill at the end of the day. Also, it takes me shorter to get appointments with my doctor here than back in the US. In fact, without a Canadian health card, I was only charged $250USD for a full treadmill stress test. In the USA, they charged me $2000 for the same test. And it would take me 3-4 weeks to get the appointment. Plus, I have seen plenty of walk-in clinics closed on weekends in the USA.
And in the USA, just like Canada, healthcare quality is often regionally variable. I would go to Scripps or the Debake Clinic in Houston for the best cardio care, but stay away from Third World Las Vegas. Quebec has a terrible reputation, whereas Toronto is excellent. Ask yourself this, if the Canadian system is so bad, why aren't the Canadians–certainly conservative Canadians–against it? Because overall, the populace is pleased, and they do (I hate to agree with Michael Moore) live 3 years longer. But Canada has a 32 million person population and no defense requirements. Universal wont work in USA.
Sharon:
You're breaking my heart.
Henry Ford did not make profits by selling low-quality, expensive cars. He got rich from selling inexpensive, high-quality cars. The same is true for hospitals and health insurance. When a company, clinic, or hospital gets a bad rep, it goes broke, gets better, or gets sued. They make profits from being efficient and effective. The competition is forced to keep up and they can learn by imitating what is successful.
Original Social Security and Medicare cost estimates were off by a factor of 10. CBO estimates Gov Healthcare will cost $1.6 trillion. If the past predicts the future, this will be $16 trillion. Comparing a million dollar CEO bonus to Gov Healthcare is like comparing $25 to a $640 million dollar lottery. Have a little perspective, please.
Interesting. Good postings.
On the longevity:
1) Ethnic minorities here(US) don’t live as long, not sure why – smoking, drugs alcohol, crime, genetics, habits, health insurance, some/all of the above?
2) We also have drug/gang wars, that pulls the number down.
3) I have heard that people who immigrate here from Europe have better longevity than if they had stayed in Europe.
Obama,
We need to spend a Trillion so that we can save more later.
Raise your hand if you have heard this before from Washington.
Something I learned from this video I didn't know before: Alyson Hannigan is a Canadian! ???
While this may be true you NEVER hear of a Canadian going into bankruptcy for an operation. And BTW they tend to live LONGER than Americans.
Here is the one discussion point that never seems to come up when it comes to Socialized Medicine (I don't know the answer so if anyone has links that would be appreciated) The question is what are the dollars spent and the medical breakthroughs made by country? Do those countries with Socialized medicine match up to the private system in the United States? I can make the assumptiont that they don't but would like to see some evidence if anyone knows.
I have never heard of an American doing that either.
Any incident or fake sob story you'd like to share is an isolated incident I am sure. Although I believe that organ transplants are the one operations not fully covered by medicare/medicade, but there are scads of organizations out there that are available to help cover the cost. Not to mention the generosity of American's through fundraisers etc. (which may change with obamacorn's oppressive tax laws on donations). With a socialized system this will be a mute point because the care will be rationed to the point that no patient sick enough to need a transplant will live long enough to see it.
Not sure how Canada deals with transplants, but I would guess it is not the best.
Canadians live longer ONLY because the sick ones die off quickly for lack of health care. It tends to skew the results.
Yeah right, and I am an American relocated to Mars where the land is plentiful and the healthcare is great.
I have learned that the people who like to post their personal experiences about something that is obviously not true are probably not telling the whole truth. Nice try with the whole "I am a conservative.." reverse psychology attempt though.
I have seen them all. Just today on another forum saw one comment that said, "I am a white woman that thinks Rev. Wright has done good things''
Oh there is the ol, "I am a conservative that thinks we should give obama a chance…"
It is all a liberal game that we aint playing no more.
We are waking up to the Saul Alinsky "Rules for Radicals" techniques. Thank God. Even if you were truthful with what you say, the ol "I am a conservative…" routiene makes us pass you on by.
Excellent!! This is exactly what I am talking about. All these bleeding heart liberals want to talk about people going into bankruptcy because of health issues?? Mr. Storm here can be out of pocket $5000 for a major health issue and the insurance company picks up the rest. While $5k is allot, if that bankrupts you, you are either a very poor money manager or you need to be on federal assistance.
THANK YOU MR. STORM! PLEASE SHARE YOUR STORY WITH MORE PEOPLE.
It is America alone that creates most of the new drugs, therapies and surgical techniques. I read an article before that said since Canada socialized their Health system they have yet to produce one patentable medication.
Amen Brother! I lived in Poland for 2 years and after given the run around for 2 weeks between various clinics and hospitals I was given a sling and some cream to rub on my fractured arm. I was in pain to 2 months and was forced to suck it up– because NOBODY WOULD HELP ME. Socialized medicine sucks!
Maybe the kid shouldn't be sucking on a remote. Lots of bad stuff on that thing. BTW, Steven is an out and out racist.
Steven, there you go with that fact thingy again! My God man don’t you know that our Barry knows what’s best for us, he was a community organizer and all. You’re just a smart a$$ white boy who doesn’t have the rich life experiences of a Latina woman? By the way where are the trolls defending “FREE” healthcare, with some insipid argument like, “that woman didn’t need her legs anyway.” Great video Steven I hope free Americans will watch this, eh…hmmm… “masterpiece,” and LEARN!
4. At the State level states must enforce the policiy of requiring an insurance policy to work in the state, ala the requirement to have insurance to drive a car. When implemented, this will also help control the cost of illegal aliens stealing free Health Care from taxpayers, since the alien must have state required insurance to get a job.
5. Ovehaul the system of Unemployment Insurance in the US. The number of uninsured touted by the Democrats (43 milllion) is a dishonest number, over 40% of it comes not from hard-core uninsured people, it represents everyone who has been laid off and/or changed jobs during the year and for some part of the year went without coverage. The whole COBRA system is an unafordable joke for anyone trying to get by on unemployment benefits.
I do the same thing when I visit this site. If the majority of the posters on this site aren't post op homosexual Marxists having a laugh at your expense, then I'd be very surprised.
Can we get this broadcast all over Canada so that the drones up here finally understand. My 3 month old son was in need of a dermatologist back in December, it is now JULY. OUR APPOINTMENT IS IN 2 WEEKS. He is now 10 months old and still suffering with his skin rash.
But at least in Canada I can sleep well knowing that the crack head downtown doesn't have to pay a dime next time the lowlife OD's. Steven should have also mentioned all the gov't needle exchange programs afoot on my dollar as well. You know, to keep the scum from getting sick and burdening our system even further.
And to top it all off, we have a savagely antiAmerican "public broadcaster" that constantly beats the drum of how wonderful socialized healthcare is, and you are some kind of American Nazi if you think otherwise. This also empties Canadians wallet to the tune of $1100/yr per capita.
America behold your future.
A facet you missed: how much do the doctors get paid there? My wife is a pediatrician, working 3+ days a week (plus nighttime call 4x a month) for nearly 30 years in primary care. Her 27 y.o. nephew has a clerical job under contract for a federal agency and makes JUST AS MUCH money. I'm not complaining about our income, but ask yourself: why would anybody spend the 7 years and 100's of kilobucks for a medical degree? Some doctors make the big bucks, but they are almost without exception specialists. Where are your primary care physicians going to come from? The shrinkage will only be accelerated by gov't healthcare.
You may not be able to get a blood test in a timely manner, but if you need a crack pipe in Victoria just drop in to the nearest needle exchange.

So true. We've got to stop the government takeover of our health care system. Let's see how they run GM and the banks first. Just based on the Veterans Administration and the postal system, I'm not too optimistic.

Interesting you should ask. While one can only assume they do, a 911 call from friends of actress Natasha Richardson, wife of actor Liam Neeson last March was delayed because the city couldn't afford to fly her out by helicopter because the government didn't fund for a helicopter for such emergency 911 calls. Instead it was a 4 or 6 hour drive to get treatment. They're doing their best to save money in a failed healthcare system.
Its medical malpractice but also what high medical malpractice premiums do to doctor practices. They test, test, test, test, test and test. Its acknowledged by most ALL doctors that they overtest for fear of being sued. Additionally, hospitals have failed with regards to updating and digitizing patient records for fear of making it easy for a patient to go somewhere else.
They live longer(and not by much) because 35% of their population isn't obese. That's also why universal heathcare will cost this nation exponentially more than any other nation with universal care. Obese people cost billions. Last year in California alone Obese people cost 41 billion for healthcare and loss of productivity. Additionally, our doctors are slow at adopting new science. For instance, in Germany Cancer isn't treated with chemo. They burn tumors with fewer side effects, less cost, and greater success. Our doctors call it quackery in public and then send doctors over to research it discreetly.
That's akin to saying that you hope your whole city burns down because you think they need more firefighters at the local firehouse.
Soup: Actually if she lost her job she may have qualified for medicaid. Its actually much better than universal care in Canada. You don't wait three years. The question though is if her husband worked and how much he made. Too many unknowns.
How could you guys have ever elected such a troll?
True. We've essentially been subsidizing the world's pharmaceuticals which is incredibly unfair. The problem is drug companies know if they don't cut them a good deal, other countries will just break our patents. Brazil and China are the most notorious, but all of Europe and Canada pay far, far less than us.
They only live a bit longer and 35% of Americans are obese which will not only make healthcare exponentially more expensive in the states than any other country but it will still lead to a shorter average life.
Cream? Oh my!
Kind of turns a doctor's appointment into a major event in your lives. Imagine forgetting the appointment.

God help us!
Other than the dying part, you’ve got a point. All those countries are wrong and we’re right. Places like Cuba, Iran, China are known for the medical innovations …hahahaha… and I would wager that the USA holds most medical patents and break through medical procedures in the past hundred years, I wonder why?
Thanks Patrick!! I knew there must be a name for it. Now we just need to educate people about these morons so they can look out for this kind of cr@p.
It is great to see a fellow Texan on the board!
After getting over the initial shock & disbelief of what has been happening, I now assume the worst, and so far I haven't been disappointed.
Cap & Trade will pass (in one form or another), so will ObamaCare. I think we'll see a 2nd "stimulus" too.
Expect the Conscience Clause to be repealed, The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to be passed (remember Obama is suing to pass treaties without the Senate) and expect major blows given to our 1st and 2nd Amendment rights.
Things aren't getting better anytime soon. Things are going to get much, much worse.

Way to go, Steven. You are definitely one of the emerging voices of the conservative movement. Unfortunately since you're a conservative, you don't stand a snowball's chance in heck of getting nominated for an Oscar. You've won something more important here.

This is such a fabrication. As a Canadian, I can assure you that if you show up at a *real* hospital with a *real* emergency, you will quickly be looked after by top notch doctor. For the those who don' t understand the term 'TRIAGE' what it means is that they asses the urgency of your situation to assign you a priority. Walking in to a hospital and claiming that you have a wrist that is numb means that they will put you *after* the guy who is having a heart attack.
The truth is, no health care system is perfect across the boards. However, given that the average American life expectancy is the lowest of any industrialized nation, you've got to take a closer look at yourselves.
This is brilliantly done to hoodwink people that there are no waiting lists in the US. This is just such hogwash. My friend died last of cancer of the prostrate because he was waiting for surgery. After waiting for six months, another Dr told him it was too late to do anything about his condition. And by the way he had two Insurance Policies. So please be a little more truthful. There is still a lot of waiting in the US right now with all the outrageously expensive private health Insurance. And frankly I do not know which world you live in, why don't you spend time to investigate what is going right now in your own country. Human Beings like are Bankrupted for being sick! Do you have any iota of morality in your bones? Or are you a spokesman for the Insurance companies?
I completely agree with Jumpback's comments. This documentary is propaganda from the conservative side.
If Steve wanted to present a 'truer' picture of Canadian healthcare than Michael Moore, why, of all places, did he choose to go to Quebec? Answer: Because he would not have had much of a documentary otherwise. Most Quebecers know their system is terrible and yes, it is very different from the rest of Canada.
I was born in Lasalle, just minutes from Greenfield Park where this was filmed. I lived there until 1990 at which point I moved to Toronto. I still have family back in Montreal and I can tell you from years of personal experience, Quebec's healthcare system is incredibly bad compared to the rest of Canada. Quebec loves to do things differently and heealthcare is just another one of those things. My family that lives there still complains about how bad the system is. Ontario, on the other hand, has shown me excellent healthcare. I'm not saying that socialized medicine is the best thing for the US, but this mini documentary paints a false picture of Canada's system as a whole.

Steven is nothing more than the right wing version of Michael Moore (but not as fat and ugly). I'm just tired of Americans bashing on us. Especially from those who have never lived there and say "I have friend in (insert foreign country here). At least Steven lived in Montreal but his "expose" was unfair. Then again I expected as much from someone who has "liberalism is a disease" on his webpage. My guess is Steven knew the result he wanted from the hit piece and was already biased before he pressed record on the camera.
Yes the system here is not perfect but I would rather have it over the current US system. I have never had a huge problem with my healthcare here. It's easy to find the worst of anything and report it as the norm. I would never go around and tell people the USA is crime ridden and unsafe cause I knew a friend of a friend who was mugged and shot in the USA.
If Americans are happy with their current system great! Just don't tell half truths about the Canada system to get your point across and scare the sheeplike masses.
As a person that is prone to kidney stones, this video absolutely terrified me. I would be in agony for hours by the time a nurse "triaged" me, and then who knows how long I'd have to wait to actually see the doctor. I couldn't bear it. I wonder what the rate of suicide is among those that are waiting for healthcare?!

If you had half a brain, and weren't espousing useless propaganda, you'd have gotten treatment a lot bloody easier.
If a clinic is closed on Sunday, drive 5 blocks to another one!! It's Montreal for god's sake! Is there really only ONE clinic in the whole damn city? I doubt I need to tell you that there are 24 hour minor emergency clinics in Canada. The wait at clinics is rarely more than 30 minutes. But going to another clinic would have defeated the whole purpose…
Getting a blood test without a family doctor is the same. I needed a blood test, so I saw a minor emergency doc. Had the blood test later that day. I also have a family doctor, but would have had to wait a day (Oh noes!) to see him, so chose the easier route.
I stopped watching after this, because this video is useless and you are doing your part (along with Michael Moore on the left, of course) to significantly reduce the awareness of health care to people all across America. Congratulations. I hope you enjoy paying $10,000 for overnight care in a California hospital.
Also, your comedy is bad and you should feel bad.
I had a kidney stone last fall. I basically spent 12am-3am writhing on the floor in the waiting room bathroom stall before I could see anyone. At least the receptionists were friendly. When I asked where I could get some water upon arrival, she kindly told me in a gruff tone "I can't give you water." It would have been nice if she had informed me of the pop machine down the hall where I could buy bottled water, but I'm sure she had more important things to do than worry about aside from getting a guy who has developed a kidney stone due to dehydration some water (they're serious when they tell you not to sit in a hot tub for two hours, by the way). The good news is the follow up ultrasound I only had to wait a month for showed that I had no more kidney stones but do have fatty liver. I'm sure glad the local clinic doctors kept prescribing me random drugs which didn't work but are correlated with developing fatty liver rather than just referring me to a dermatologist for the skin problems they admit they have no clue about. But it's OK, they did that to me for free. Well, aside from the fact that all those random prescriptions weren't covered by my private prescription plan because my skin condition was pre-existing. But I keep hearing we don't have a problem with things being excluded due to "pre-existing" conditions here, so I must be lying.

The part about 10:23 in, where Diane talks about her mother – my GOD. My mom had the EXACT same thing wrong – I remember what her toes looked like, all black dead tissue. If they made her wait a year – SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD!!! Oh my god…is this really where were are going? I have been calling and emailing my representatives. Along with that I post comments probably everyday to my facebook page. I don't know what else to do, this scares the hell out of me.
